Jimmie has done all of our work, and he's outstanding. Always professional, prompt and friendly. He takes the time to answer questions and goes above and beyond to make sure things are done right. We had a problem with a subcontractor and I was really impressed with how Jimmie handled the situation. Long story short, he did everything in his power to fix their mistakes and make things right. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter and continue to use them for not only my home, but also my offices in Columbia.

I called Mr. Rooter to come and do plumbing in our commercial building, he did the work fine, but never pulled permits. When the city called him on it, he got angry with us and said we had ruined his good reputation. He charged a fortune for just two hours of work, then said that he would be back to finish some other items we needed done and never came back at the appointment time. We tried to call him several times since then and he won't return our calls. Very disappointed and has wasted valuable time that we needed to have these issues fixed so our business could open.

I called RR on Wed. afternoon and was scheduled for 10am on thursday. RR has two hour windows for service, much shorter than average. RR called at 9:50 and said they were on their way, and arrievd promptly. As expected, my sewer pipes were clogged. My home is on a wooded bluff and the plumber had to use two sections of cable to reach the city lines. Additionally, I had a second drain rooted out quite a distance to where it met the main line. It took about an hour, went without a hitch and now the plumbing works again. Very punctual, very professional,

We discovered a main drain that have clogged up on a weekend. The real problem was in the basement, so we decided to wait until Monday to call to avoid any extra fees. We found them here on Angie's list on Monday morning and gave them a call. They scheduled us immediately for that afternoon, and then gave us a courtesy call 30 minutes before arrival. Their trucks, uniforms, and equipment were very clean. They wore boot covers around the house to prevent tracking anything in from outside or from the work they were performing. We briefly discussed the problem, toured the house for access, and they went to work. In less than 30 minutes they were finished and cleaning up. They clean the drain four times and ran the washing machine once through a cycle to ensure everything was working properly. They cleaned up nicely to the point you couldn't tell they had been there. They walked me through the billing and the details in a nice manner, and presented a couple programs for future use that would eliminate any after-hours calls and discount future billing. I've had to call a plumber two times this year at two different houses in two different cities. Both times I have selected companies with good ratings from Angie's list and both times I've been blown away by the service. I signed up for a service program for Mr. Rooter. I will recommend them and use them again.
Description of Work: They arranged for the scheduling right away on a Monday morning, and called 30 minutes before arrival to make sure we were ready. They were very clean and professional, and prompt. They were boot covers around the house to prevent tracking on the flooring. We briefly discussed the problem and access, and they went to work.

We contact Mr. Rooter for a bid for the work above. They sent out a very nice young man to see what we wanted done and then told us we'd have a bid in a couple of days. Didn't hear back from them for over a week so I contacted them by phone. Said they'd get the bid right to us and I gave them my e-mail address. Still did not get a bid back so contacted them through their web site and finally got a bid with the excuse they didn't have the correct e-mail address. Bid was for $1800 to complete all work unless something unforeseen was found and came from Johnson Plumbing. I checked the address on the estimate and it was the same as Mr. Rooter so I assumed it was Mr. Rooter. We had used them before and were impressed. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed this time. Finally scheduled. Plumbers were to arrive first thing on September 11th. Finally arrived about 9:30 a.m. Two guys came, one stayed about 1 hour and then left to meet Bill Johnson. The other worked for a while longer and then sat in our front yard from over an hour waiting for the other plumber. Finally both got back to work about 1 p.m. but left about 3:30 p.m. because they did not have the necessary plumbing parts to keep working. Came back next day arriving about 9:30. Both worked until 3:30 p.m. but had to leave to go pick up paychecks. One plumber came back for a few hours later in the day. Said job was done. We had decided not to have them set the toilet or the vanity in the master bathroom as we still had drywall work to do. Had to call them back a few days later when we went to put the shower head on the main bath as they had left out washers and water would not stop running even with water handle shut off. Received invoice for $2400. $1200 in labor for original bid and additional $280 in labor for "unforeseen" items. Materials from original bid were $600 with additional $320 for unforeseen items. I requested an itemized list of materials which Bill Johnson refused to provide. Asked for the hourly rate which he provided to me at $40 per hour. The plumbers were here for a total of 22.5 hours which would amount to $900 in labor but he's charging me $1480 in labor. Have no idea how they might have used $920 in materials to run water and sewer lines for a bathroom that was immediately next to our current bathroom. In addition when we went to install our master bath vanity, they had installed the water lines backwards - the hot is on the right and the cold is on the left. I am extremely disappointed with Mr. Rooter and Johnson Plumbing. Beware!
Description of Work: Replaced a bathtub in our main bath and plumbed for a new master bath which included putting in a new shower, running water lines and sewer lines.

I was very pleased. I was looking for advice on how to manage sewer line problems in the older home that I had just purchased. The task ended up taking several hours due to the amount of roots and the length of the line but they kept me informed and were very fair on the pricing. I recommend them very highly and have scheduled them to do a regular root cleanout every six months.

We went with someone else, and he was right- it was much cheaper.
Description of Work: We had someone to come out and take a look, because we had a leak and we weren't sure exactly where it was coming from. The guy who came was honest, and quoted us the price but explained that it would be cheaper with another plumber because their rates are set. I hope he finds another job soon, his honesty is being wasted on an overpriced service.

They were great. I was extremely pleased. They have been very good, prompt, punctual and their price is right. The people were easy to talk to. They did the work and got out. I would probably call them more often. I got them on my list and I got a card from them. The price wasn't that bad for what they had to do. I am not saying that they are the cheapest kids on the block but they were fair. The guy was most helpful. He gave me some pointers on how to not get into that position again. I was very pleased. They were pretty quick to arrive. When they said they would be there at a certain time, they were there within a few minutes.

They made a next appt. with me to do the smoke test in my sewer pipes. I took off work to be there to make sure everything went okay and to make sure my 86 year old Mom and my pets were out of the house when the tests was to be run. Apparently they ran out of smoke (not sure how that happened) and rather than phone me to cancel the appt., they came out anyway. I told them I wasn't paying for that visit since the smoke test was supposed to be run and they didn't do the test or anything. To me they acted like they didn't know what they were doing and they were not very professional. They said they absolutely wouldn't crawl under the house to see if there was a problem with my pipes there. The only work they did was to take up the toilet and reseal it, which did not solve the problem and change valve covers on my inside pipes. I would not hire them again.

Mr. Rooter was my second estimate. The first guys charged me $75.00 just for an estimate. Mr. Rooter came and did an estimate for free. We decided to go with Mr. Rooter because they were going to be half the price. I had to call a couple times just to find out when they were going to come do the work. I asked for a written estimate, which I never received. They ended up running into many issues and had to trench the whole yard to lay a new pipe. They also said our outside hydrant needed to be replaced, which we had done only 6 years prior but we had them replace it anyway. We asked for an additional hydrant to be placed in the front yard and they put it right in front of the gate that goes to the back yard. My biggest complaint....after two days of work they let everything in a huge mess. There is a trench around my house about knee high, my sidewalk has a 3/4 filled hole and concrete everywhere, my driveway is covered in dirt. When I got home I literally had to climb a dirt mountain into my front door. That's what I get for going with a cheaper service.
Description of Work: We needed to have our waterline replaced from the meter to the house. We had to cut some tree limbs and take about a porch before they came. They had to cut through a concrete sidewalk at the house.

They were an easy choice. we had a problem and they don't charge arrival fees (their local "competitor" charged just to show up and see if we even needed them). We are also really busy people so the fact that they showed up at a scheduled time and kept everything clean as they worked was wonderful. They fixed the issue with our toilet and let us know what the costs would be before doing the work. Everything was quick, efficient and they were friendly and professional. They also checked our water heater, and other fixtures to make sure there was nothing wrong that might cost us later (and unlike a mechanic, they gave us a clean bill of health.) I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had a toilet that was contently backing up. But it was off and on and there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Turns out a q-tip had been flushed and kept blocking the flow

Job got done, but we overpaid and much stress was involved over whole experience.
Description of Work: We live in the Old Southwest neighborhood in Columbia, MO. We are on private sewer and had a leak on a pipe servicing about 8 homes on our block. Since it was a larger job and pipe ran down to MKT Trail and involved excavation, we called the city upon noticing the leak and asked them to take over in the oversight role in fixing the leak. The City Representative called Mr. Rooter and had them meet us at the leak and said use them. Although they fixed the leak, THEY RIPPED US OFF. THey refused to provide a detailed breakdown of the bill, instead coming back for 1.5 days of work and about 12 man hours with a bill for almost $10,000. Then, after the fact they went to the oldest homeowner in the group who has health issues and asked him to sign the invoice after the fact. Then they told the elderly homeowner that although the bill was for $10,000 they would discount it to $8,000 as a sign of good faith in hopes of future work. One of the neighbors has contracting experience and looked at the bill, saw that it had no time/materialbreakdown and was severly inflated. This person caled the owner of Mr. Rooter and asked for a breakdown, response was "we don't do that". This request for info went back and forth with no response from Mr. Rooter, even after repeated written requests. Instead, Mr. Rooter turned the bill over to a collection agency WITHIN 30 DAYS!! This whole experience left our elderly neighbor terrified, since Mr. Rooter and his lawyer pointed out that he signed the bill, even though it was after the fact. In the end, we paid the bill, but want people in Columbia to know that he does not treat customers right. We priced out the man hours and came up with an estimate for the work of $3,500. In addition, we verified cost of job with other plumbers. Mr. Rooter would not provide the breakdown for services rendered, because he could not find any way to justify the cost of what he was charging us (he could have put down that his junior worker bills out at $500/hour.....but that would have looked a bit odd). The worst thing about this whole experience is how he treated the elderly neighbor, with threats of sueing him for non-paying for simply signing the invoice as requested after the fact. He took advantage of an elderly man, who has impared judgement and that is simply dispicable. I will say that the sewer leak repair job has held up for the last month, but that the City of Columbia will be replacing our sewer next year. We complained to the City as well about Mr. Rooter's treatment of us (did he charge so much when he knew it was 8 neighbors involved and figured he could charge what he wanted?), but never recieved a response from the CIty. SO, don't use Mr. Rooter. Columbia has plenty of HONESY, FAIR TO BOTH PARTY plumbers, so look elsewhere.

Response from Mr Rooter Plumbing of Columbia Missouri
I feel like there has been some miscommunication with this situation. For those who aren’t familiar with our company, we operate by a Code of Values. One of them is “Treating others as we would like to be treated” so we focus on providing outstanding customer experiences. First of all, the total bill was $6,200 – not $10,000. We don’t charge by the hour. Instead, we charge by the job. In this case, it took two days with two service technicians to complete the job. We also gave the customer a breakdown, and we didn’t give to the invoice to a collection agency. Our customers tell us they can trust us, like our honesty and they think we’re super nice and professional. We get a lot of referrals, too. Please call us if you would like to speak with someone at our office.

They were very good. We like them and they were helpful. We ended up using them because our home warranty company made us run around and we canceled out our home warranty service because it was horrible. We were without hot water and they were going to send somebody else about a week to look at the hot water situation. We had to boil the hot water for the 2 kids. We then got in contact with Mr. Rooter and they ordered us the part. They were really reliable, friendly and professional. We were really happy with Mr. Rooter because they had somebody come out here and fix it properly. We would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Mr. Rooter Plumbing for plumbing. They fixed our water heater. We are about to use them again this year.
