The installer is another issue. I paid $150 to move 6 pieces of furniture. When, he left he left things in different rooms and even the workshop where he had no reason to be. I thought he had thrown out my oriental rug. After calling Dave Grigg's I was told it was in the workshop. He also took a gouge out of my oak trim, which he denied. Griggs called David Lewis to took at the gouge who said it was not a fresh cut. Since Lewis is a Griggs employee of course that is what he would say; he is certainly biased. I am happy with the product, but will not use a provider associated with the vendor again because if any issue arises the vendor will always prevail.
Description of Work: I hired a carpenter, David Lewis, that Griggs also employs. After 6 days of working on my job, he was pulled from working on my house to do another job. I was not asked about him taking off; I was told. When I questioned this, I was told sorry you feel that way. Not that they were sorry, but sorry you feel that way. I was left in a big mess and could do nothing about it even though I was the one writing the check to Lewis.

We expected to leave all details of putting the flooring down in our new home to Dave Griggs Flooring America. Nothing went right and we are sitting with a botched flooring job with little recoarse. Humidity caused the wood flooring to buckle in three to four areas. Moisture readings (calcium chloride test) from the concrete slab taken before installation were never shown to us and when we requested them when the wood started to buckle Dave Griggs Flooring America could not and quot;find themand quot;. It was later deemed by an and quot;independent flooring inspectorand quot; paid for by Dave Griggs Flooring America that the baseboard was set too tight to the floor, not allowing expansion. When we hired Dave Griggs Flooring America to install the flooring in our new home, we expected them to be the experts that they claimed to be and do what ever it took to make the floor installation a success. One of the things they DID NOT do was communicate with our contractor or his finish carpenter and explain that the baseboards need to be installed with enough room for proper expansion. Dave Griggs personally said the general contractor was responsible for the baseboard installation. We could not DISAGREE more. Dave Griggs Flooring America WAS totally responsible for the complete job of a successful floor install which included talking to and discussing with the contractor and finish carpenter about their roles regarding proper baseboard placement. Even with a very expensive dehumidifier installed on our HVAC system the floor still DOES NOT lay down properly. After the inspection of the wood flooring was complete, we received a letter basically passing the buck to the general contractor. Since that letter there has been no communication, NO follow up from Dave Griggs Flooring America, as to how the flooring was performing months later. We have been so disppointed with everything they did and their passing blame to others when they needed to accept responsibility.
Description of Work: We were building a new home and Dave Griggs Flooring America was contracted to put a floating wood floor down in a majority of our house and also lay ceramic tile in the bathrooms.

I had dealt with a large chain home improvement store before going to Griggs. My expreinces with such chain store was horrible in every way. The carpet came out to be extreemley over priced, I would have to pay over $1000 in new tack strip (which was only explained in fine print after I asked a million questions) and their time to install was over two weeks out. I quickly backed out of the deal and went to look elsewhere. My service at Dave Griggs was exceptional...period. From the moment I came to the store to look at available options until the job was completed. Not only did I get wonderful carpet that was very fairly priced I was not charged for one single tack strip to be replaced (and installed with hammer and nail NOT GLUE like all the chain stores have started doing). The service while in the store was great. I was greeted immediately upon entering and placed with a sales associate within minutes. To my surprise they had a slot open up the very NEXT DAY due to a reschedule. My sales associate made a special trip to my home (which is 35 minutes away from their store) to get the measurements that night. The installers were at my home the next morning by 9:30am!!! That is A+ service. I originally didnt go to Griggs because I thought I couldn't afford their carpet or their services...not the case. If you want quality products and service at a extremely competitive price Griggs is the place to look. My overall experience was great. I will be back when we are ready to start our next project...countertops!
Description of Work: Griggs installed new carpet throughout our home, including living room, hall, hall closet, two spare rooms and closets, and a master bedroom and closet.

Installation went well. But within ten days kitchen linoleum began buckling and has slowly increased to this day. "It passed initial inspecton so it's not our problem.I get angry every morning I see it. Getting it fixed by another contractor would be a small fortune because they want to replace entire flooring.

Our contractor sent us to DGFA to choose some vinyl flooring for a bathroom remodel because he likes their installer. My mother and I went in on Sunday, January 19th and spent quite a while looking through samples. The older saleswoman who was and quot;helpingand quot; us stood idly by while my mother--a senior citizen--and myself, 8 1/2 months pregnant--struggled to flip through the heavy stacks of vinyl samples. We narrowed it down to one Armstrong sample and signed it out so we could take it to another store to match it with our countertop, cabinets, and paint. We spent $1000 at the other store on coordinating items for this flooring. Mid-week, our contractor returns to DGFA to order the 7' (that's right, seven linear FEET) of flooring we need, and he's told that the flooring has been discontinued. I have to spend Friday morning at DGFA looking for a new sample that will still match our coordinated cabinets, countertop, and paint. I am helped by a younger saleswoman who is more helpful in shuffling through samples, but doesn't offer any apology for the hassle and expense their poor service has caused me. I check out two more flooring samples that I'm assured are and quot;In stockand quot; and take them to the other store to see if either will work with the cabinets, countertop, and paint we've already paid for. One of the two will work with all but the paint color, which I have to change. I drive right back to DGFA 2 hours later to return the checked-out floor samples and order the flooring before they have a chance to sell out of it. Our remodel project is running 10 days behind, and I've been told it will take 10 days for whatever I order from DGFA to arrive. As I mentioned above, I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant and getting closer to my due date by the minute. The whole idea is to get this 3-day remodeling project done before the baby arrives..... The saleswoman fills out an order form. I offer to pay her; she says not to worry about it, they'll bill me when it's installed. Before I leave, I offer a second time to go ahead and pay for the flooring. I realize as I write this I was never given a price on that flooring OR the installation. Ever. No idea what it was going to cost. My contractor calls me on Sunday, January 27 to tell me DGFA has left a message with him (why HIM and not ME? They have my number. And no, I didn't yell or make a scene when I went in the second time.) The message says they can't order the flooring until I've paid for it. REALLY?!? I offered, TWICE, to pay for it and was refused both times. Today, January 28th, I went back over to DGFA to pay for the order so they could place it. A third woman, a receptionist, tried to help me, but she could find no record of my order in the computer. Not under my name, the contractor's name.... She left the desk to get help. She was gone a long time. I called a competitor where I had bought carpet a few years ago and asked if they sold vinyl flooring. Yes, they did. I called the contractor and asked if he'd had a bad experience with the competitor, or if I could go there and look at flooring. He said sure, the thing he liked about DGFA was this one installer, and that installer would work with whatever product we gave him. I waited a few more minutes, but the receptionist never came back. I walked out and went to the competitor. Within 3 minutes of walking in the door, I had the very same Armstrong sample in my hand that I had originally chosen. I asked if they had 7' of it in stock because I had been told it was discontinued. He called their distributor and was told they had and quot;hundreds of feet of itand quot; in stock. He hangs up and tells me, and quot; This flooring is really expensive--I had to ask the woman to repeat the price twice because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Will anything on this rack work for you? If so, this flooring is 1/3 the price.and quot; I found something that would work with everything we'd already paid for, and it will be here in 48 hours. And no, that's not rush shipping--that's their normal wait time on most orders. We're remodeling our bathroom because we've outgrown our current home and plan to sell it soon. We're breaking ground in July on a house with two master suites, a library, a playroom, 6 small bedrooms (one for each of our children), and a two-room guest suite. That's a lot of flooring, folks, and guess where we WON'T be shopping for it?

Response from Dave Griggs Flooring America
Dear Member, Words cannot express how incredibly disappointed I was, as the owner of Dave Griggs Flooring America, to get the notification about your frustration in dealing with our store from one or our mutual facebook friends. We have been a part of the Columbia, MO community for over 38 years and have served several thousand of our neighbors and friends throughout the years. Our primary goal is to create happy customers and get them telling their friends about the great work we strive to do each and every day. There is simply no excuse for the experience you had with us, we clearly missed the mark and we are truly sorry for not earning your business. We spend a great deal of time on training our sales professionals to make the customer experience a positive one, and unfortunately this is a learning experience for us, this simply was a chain of events that have never happened. I assure you that the entire team has discussed this situation. I regret that we did not earn your business and I do hope you will give us another opportunity someday. In light of this, we would love to send you a handmade area rug for your baby's new room as a small token of our sincere apology over your experience. I will contact you personally to make arrangements. Dave Griggs

I had one person do this and I discovered I didn’t like some of his work. Apparently what they do, you’re just stuck with them and they’ll come back and repair it although it was the same person that messed it up in the first place. If he didn’t do detailed work in the beginning, why would he do better work while repairing it. I had him come back but I’m not going to have him come back again and I’m looking elsewhere. I also had them come in and do the utility room right off the kitchen, but then once I started paying attention he wasn’t doing quality work. Some of the guys were, but not him. I wouldn’t recommend them unless you can choose who they send out. It’s like you’re stuck with whom they send you. The tile was perfectly fine but the person who did the tile work was not up to standard in my opinion. There was an instance where I noticed a chip in the tile when he was putting grout in. He said it would be covered by the grout but I had him replace it with some of my own tile. I don’t feel like I should have asked to have him do that either.
Description of Work: I live in a condo and had water issues. I had my floor replaced with tile in the living room and in the hallway and kitchen.
