I live in an old house - the area they were working on was built in 1904. They did an excellent job of removing damaged floor and replacing and leveling it with a new floor, removing the tub and replacing it with an onyx shower. I am very happy with the service I received from this company - their employees were professional and courteous and I would definitely call them again if I needed any work done. I would also recommend them to friends. I also enjoyed working with the Contractor. He kept me informed about what was going on and when they would be finished. I also liked it that they came when they said they would.

Since I was not a set time line work was done around other jobs that were on a set time. Jake came to inspect the finished product and suggested that some small things needed to be addressed and taken care of.
Description of Work: install new drywall on walls and ceiling in back hallway. apply texture to ceiling and paint.
Everything went well and turned out beautifully. Spectacular, even. Of course, there were delays and complications, but those are to be expected in any remodeling job. Aarow Building employees were professional and did quality work. They refused to cut corners. They were easy to work with, listened to my ideas, and answered all my questions. I have already hired them to do some more work on the garage.
Description of Work: Extensive renovations of two bathrooms, addition of a large master closet, total redo of pool area (including structure as grilling area), and drywall, insulation, and heating/cooling unit in freestanding garage. Previously, remodeled kitchen and scraped downstairs ceilings.

He missed our first appt., was very nice, gave me a quote quickly, then it took months for him to get the work done. Weather did play a part of the delay but so did sick employees. He contacted me for one overage and in the end the bill was 38% higher than the estimate plus overage approved. 38%!!!!!!! I will never use him again nor recommend him even though he was very nice. 38% over approved amount is insane. I regret paying it.
Description of Work: Wood siding needed to be replaced on one wall of my home.
Very poorly. Had to be called back numerous times to fix improperly installed faucet, unevenly laid tile, cabinetry, and leaks. They had to cut out the ceiling in the family room to repair a tub leak that could not be reached from above. Jake would not return calls or return after he told me he would be back to fix a second leak in the family room.
I could not be happier. Everything was done right the first time. The staff and subcontractors were all professional and personable, everyone liked their job and had personal pride and integrity. Jake is knowledgeable in all aspects of contracting, including minute details of each step. His artistic vision was extremely helpful and definitely added to the finished product. I have an older custom home with unusual construction of every kind. This was NEVER a problem. Each unforeseen issue was seen as an opportunity to improve the home. The irrigation issues were immense, but they were transformed into a beautifully landscaped yard with immaculate masonry. Jake stayed in constant communication, there were never any negative surprises or delays. We came in very close to budget, amazing since the actual work was more than I expected. Aarow's bid was a little higher than others, but well worth the differenc in real value. The highest quality products were used, it never felt like Aarow was skimping on anything. Quite the contrary, Jake, Henry and staff strived to do the most for the least cost, as if it was their own house.
Description of Work: Enclosed and finished carport and adjacent room, resided, painted exterior and interior, irrigation, minor electrical, HVAC and plumbing.
My mother has used Aarow Building for years and loved the work and the fact that she can trust the owner (Jake) and his crew to be fair in quality of work, pricing, etc. So when I bought my first home I called Jake to get a bid and found him to be competitively priced and very easy to work with. He was always prompt and helped point out stuff I hadn't thought about. For example, he helped design a custom shower with tiling that looks way better (and will look better for longer) than the pre-fab fiberglass kit I was originally thinking about (and the tiled shower was in the same price range as the cheaper looking shower kit). I liked that the owner worked alongside his crew for most of the project, although his crew seemed very knowledgeable as well. At any point they could explain why they were doing a particular part of the project a certain way and I got the sense that this is not a business that cuts corners. My mother is always able to trust that things were done the right way, and this was my experience as well. It's been a few months since they completed work and everything still looks great....I've seen no flaws in how anything was done at my home. Jake and the crew are very polite and professional and really seem to know what they're doing. And they worked hard to get the jobs done in a few days and with minimal disruption to my family. I will continue to hire Aarow building for all my remodeling and repair projects- this seems to be one of the rare companies that you can trust will do the job right and be fair in their pricing! With the owner's design background as well as technical construction knowledge, you get, in my experience, a superior company and one where you can tell the workers share in the owner's commitment to quality and doing things the right way. I've referred other family or friends to them and they've been pleased as well. Worth getting an estimate from!
Description of Work: Main contact (2012): Rip out old shower walls to studs, put in new tiled shower (assisted with design as well). Prep all interior walls for painting (skim coat, prime) and paint 7 rooms. Ran crown molding throughout most of house (about 240 feet). Most recent (late 2015): Fix leaky basement, remove/replace water damaged areas, assistance with larger basement remodel

Once my wife and I decided to build rather than buy we scoured the Internet looking for a contractor that we felt would be a good fit for our needs. Angie?s List was the first place we turned. After compiling a list of potential firms we started meeting with contractors on our lot just outside of town. Jake with Aarow Building quickly moved to the top of the list by talking with us about our concerns for energy efficiency and indoor air quality. The planning process was simplified when Jake helped us pick an architect that specialized in energy efficient homes. We made weekly stops by the project during the 8-month build meeting with Jake or the foreman the majority of visits. We always seemed welcome and they were always friendly and seemed happy to see us. There were what we feel the usual speed bumps in the process, delays in special order items (including our European windows), cost overages (small and probably reasonable) and weather but the guys just seemed to keep pushing and moving toward the end goal. Once we moved into our home the small issues that still existed were handled quickly and to our satisfaction. We would build another home with Jake and his crew. Thanks guys!

We are very happy with the results of Aarow Building's work. From day one with the estimate and getting to talk to Jake, to the last day's walk through, I always knew I was dealing with intelligent, practical people that knew what they were doing and why they were doing it. Recommendations were always appropriate and confirmed with previous installations (spray in insulation is amazing!) and never seemed like a method of making more money. The crew were also very respectful of the house, our property and time. I came into the project a little leery of having random people in my home every day, by themselves. By about the first week, those fears were gone and those guys were awesome. Nothing to worry about at all. Timeliness was impressive as this is a small company and they were balancing quite a few projects. Our project was taken care of in a time frame that we agreed upon and was never left on a back-burner. Payments were made during the project (over the course of several months) and was something we agreed upon as well. There was never any pressure and the division of payments made sense. All in all, we couldnt be happier. It was a signficant amount of money to spend but since installation we've basically been living in our basement. Just thrilled. Had our first Thanksgiving in the room, a Christmas party, New Years eve party...and with plans for a Super Bowl party as well. Money well spent, no regrets.

We hired Jake Bruton and Aarow Building for a large scale addition and renovation project. Long story short, the whole thing turned into a huge nightmare. He ended up at least 35% above the initial agreed upon bid. Then he walked off the job with no warning, leaving us to become general contractors and work with all of the sub-contractors to finish our house and take care of the additional 2 months of unfinished work, an incredibly stressful situation to be in. As for the budget, there were no written change orders, etc. documenting the overages - just him saying, after months of assuring us we were "in the budget", that we were $40,000 over the budget. Then, about 5 weeks later, saying, that actually it's like $90,000 over, and final numbers were actually $200,000 over the initial budget. The increased costs were not the result of changes made by us, they were almost solely the result of poor estimation by the builder. We came close to losing our house over his mismanagement of the budget. We were never notified of any increase in cost until he gave us these lump sum numbers. For this large of a project, he was unable to manage the costs. He very strongly pushed a type of framing called "advanced framing", promising us it would save us money. The framing, done by his crew instead of sub-contractors, took several months longer than it should have, resulting in a huge increase in labor costs. The inefficiency of his crew and lack of on-site supervision and oversight by the owner also caused numerous other items to have to be re-done - for example, one floor was re-tiled 3 times, another re-tiled 2 times, exposed ceiling beams were put up completely different than the plans specified and had to be re-done. As we've worked to finish the project, we discovered more items were done incorrectly - including shelf brackets not anchored properly, three spindles coming loose from the banister, and stair risers that came loose by hand. We feel strongly about posting this review in an attempt to save others from the awful experience that we had. His website states that the job isn't finished until the customer is happy, our experience was the opposite - we weren't happy with the work, the cost was 35% over what we planned to spend and he left us to finish it on our own with no warranty and no one to call noas problems arose with quality of work, now or in the future. Feel free to e-mail us at mag131311@yahoo.com if you have questions or want to hear more about our experience.

After the first heavy rain in the water leakage from the basement returned as worse as before. I told the company about out the failure. They came and saw the window leaking down into the basement and leaving a pool. For a solution the company recommended that I use the service of a partner or a friend in the landscaping business. The manager of Aarowbuilding accompanied his partner when he came to do the landscaping estimate. This could have cost me 2600. I told his professionality should have indicated the landscaping option rather than make me belief that his drain would do the job. The company refuse to shoulder any responsibility refused my suggestion to refund me at least one third of what I had paid them. I strongly believe I have been a victim of a rip-off in the name of professionality.
Description of Work: Connected two window wells to drain pipes, connect the drain to the downspouts and bury all the way to the front yard. Some hand digging was done around the gas line, I am not going to raise your bill to cover the hand digging because you waited for so long for our services.

Response from Aarow Building
Mr. [Member Name Removed] and our company have spoken multiple times on this matter and we have concluded that our handling of the situation could not have been any more professional or fair. Upon initial consultation (7-2014) with Mr. [Member Name Removed] it was explained that burying the downspouts on his home was the first step in many possible steps to remedy his basement water issues. Aarow, attempting to be conservative with our recommendations for work, recommended starting with one smaller cost option (burying the downspouts away from the foundation.) Mr. [Member Name Removed] agreed. The work was completed on budget (11-2014). We had previously discussed that this solution may not completely remedy the water issues. Aarow Building was initially notified of the issues remaining 10 months (9-2015) after the completion of work and made immediate steps to arrange a meeting with Mr. Ibrahaim. A second option was addressed at that time in an attempt to control the water and Mr. [Member Name Removed] declined any additional work. The interaction between Mr. [Member Name Removed] and Aarow Building contained no dishonesty on the part of Aarow Building and all work was completed as agreed upon.

Aarow Building was the general contractor for our home renovation, which was completed several years ago. I am posting a review now because I had reason to contact Aarow about a month ago regarding some poor work done by the masonry subcontractor. What the mason had done could not be detected until enough time passed that it finally resulted in stones falling off our house in bunches, revealing what was underneath. I contacted Aarow to let them know what happened, expecting that nothing would be done since so much time had passed. Instead, Henry, the original owner and the guy I dealt with for the renovation, contacted me and we worked out a satisfactory solution. I was impressed that Aarow Building would stand firmly behind their work and want to make things right for their customer. If only all contractors were like this!

The flooring itself cost around $3,000; the rest was labor, but this was a labor-intensive job. Most of my house, approx 900 sq ft, was covered in a beige carpet that even when clean, looked dirty to me. I really wanted hardwood floors, or at least composite wood, but Jake and a couple friends convinced me that it just wouldn't work on my concrete slab house. Core Tek Plus is a vinyl flooring with a layer of cork and a marine-grade waterproof center. It's guaranteed for life. After taking samples home, I decided to give it a try. First Jeremy pulled up and disposed of all the carpet. He made sure the slab was level and straight before beginning. The planks come together easily and the finished product is beautiful. It looks like wood, but is easy on the feet and a breeze to clean. I love it! Jake's team are all very professional; arriving on time, working a full day, and cleaning up before they leave. I will definitely use Aarow Building again. In fact, Jake was just at my house taking measurements and notes for several more jobs. I hope to have his estimates soon.

The old fiberglass shower was small and the space available for the remodel was tight. Aarow's owner (Jake) was essential in the design of the new shower. He is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. The remodel took longer than expected because of issues with the existing plumbing and concrete slab. Jake and Jeremy identified problems, came up with solutions, modified the plans and got it done. I am very pleased with the finished product. The shower is very accessible, easy to keep clean, and the Kohler fixtures are wonderful. Just what I wanted. The door fits perfectly. They also replaced the old tile surrounding the existing tub with subway tile to match the shower. It looks great. Jeremy used the old bypass shower door (which was still in good shape) to replace one in another bathroom. I was very pleased that he would take the time to do that for me.

We are very pleased with the sunroom door and with the work Aarow performed. Their recommendations for the replacement door were right on target--it is exactly what we wanted. Work was performed in a timely fashion. The installer was very easy to work with and considerate. The modifications we requested and a slight repair (scratch) were completed immediately and perfectly. I especially like that the owner (Jake) inspected the work and discussed it with me before presenting the bill.

The owner, Jake Bruton, was great to work with. He brought a designer's eye and considerable hands-on experience to the work. I learned to trust his recommendations. He helped me see what was possible and I'm absolutely delighted with the result. Everything was done right. He immediately addressed all those little things remaining after a remodeling job. He clearly has a high standard for the quality of the work. We have already engaged Aarow Building to do another project for us. Once again, we are listening to Jake Bruton's recommendations about how the project should be designed and executed. We are optimistic about the result.

We originally invited Jake to our home to talk to us about removing the walls surrounding a staircase between our kitchen and dining room. He had lots of great ideas on how to finish the project - including adding storage areas and a pantry under the stairs accessible by hidden panels. We wouldn't have thought of that without him, and we love it. We added to the original scope of the project because we trusted Jake and knew that he would do a quality job in removing walls from our 1940's home. He worked with us extensively throughout the project and was open to changes we wanted to make throughout. His estimate was paid we paid, and no more. Jake's crew members were courteous, respectful, punctual and just downright friendly. We were completely comfortable leaving them in our home to work from the start. We lived in the home during this major renovation, and the crew always cleaned up whatever they could so we had as much space as possible to live. I would not hesitate to contact Jake at Aarow Building again to complete any of my home projects. We were lucky to have found him. We will post photos of the work that Aarow building did as soon as we are done with some other minor renovations in our home.
Description of Work: We hired Aarow Building initially to remove the walls surrounding a staircase between our kitchen and dining room. Due to Jake's knowledge, helpful suggestions, and eye for design and what we wanted, we asked him to add to the project and remove walls between our front room and kitchen, and our front room and dining room.

Jake and his team did a great job. The project didn't go perfect because we encountered a load bearing wall but Jake and his team did a great job making the project's outcome be as good as it would have been if we could have taken down the whole wall. I was so impressed by their punctuality. They were always there when they said they were going to be there, always cleaned up at the end of the day, were pleasant and very professional. They are very attentive when anything came up and quick to explain anything I had questions about. The outcome is as good as I could ask for and I was very impressed. This was our first time doing any work on our home and I feel somewhat spoiled because we had such a good experience.

Set up appointment for 3:30 on Monday. Contractor showed up 30 minutes early and left without calling to say he was early. I showed up at 3:10 for 3:30 meeting, but contractor had already left. I called and the next available appointment time was almost two weeks out. Tried to blame me for the wrong time, when I clearly would not have set a meeting that conflicted with work. Poor customer service.

Jake and his crew were great! His estimate of the cost to take the wall down (which opened the area up wonderfully!) and do all necessary work was right on. The crew arrived on time the first day of work and completed all demo within a few hours' time. Because of drywall installation, Henry returned each morning for the next 3-4 days to touch up the mudding and smooth the finish as it dried and to spray on the popcorn ceiling where the cabinets had been. That was perfect-you can't tell at all that something was there. On the last day, one of the crew returned to paint the wall where one cabinet had been removed and installed the cabinets in the garage for me. They did an excellent job; everyone was very professional and friendly. I've already gotten an estimate to replace windows in my sunroom later this summer.

Jake, the manager, is very friendly and down-to-earth. We didn't have a very clear idea on where we want our skylight to be, but Jake gave us some good practical advice in terms of where the sunlight would be coming from in the morning versus afternoon, how it can save us money....etc. We trusted him completely on the size, the number, and the location of the skylights we install. We ordered two large skylights for the south side of our living room ceiling (although it is more idea to have skylights on both the north and south sides of the ceiling, our north ceiling is right below all our pipes so there's no way to install skylights there.) The skylight themselves took a couple of months to arrive, once you order them. The installation took 6 days. They come every morning and leave in the early afternoon. Over the weekend they take their equipment outside the house so we can move about the living room more freely. One of the workers accidentally stepped on another part of our ceiling and some pieces fell off, but they fixed it very nicely at the end of the day and you can't tell there had been an accident there. The skylights themselves are sturdy and brought in a lot of light! They come with screens and remote controls. We had some trouble setting up the remote control but Jake made a visit to our home and helped us. We feel the quality of their service is excellent. Their price is also very reasonable. We will definitely go back to Jake if we have remodeling needs in the future.
