On August 19th he made a decision to mill the wood on the 9 x 12 space, without my approval. He did not even give us an option. He did tell me that the wood was located in St. Louis, but instead of allowing us to decide if we want to get the proper wood he then milled the wood which means removing the tonge and groove off of all of it. He used elmers glue and face nailed it to keep the flooring together. I did not get to see him put the flooring down, but told him to not make any other decisions without us because we could have found another way to do the floor.
One the 24th, he called me when I was out of the state and told me we had to change the color of the stain. I informed him that he needed to talk to my husband because I was not there to see. My husband had to call him to tell him that we could not proceed until we got the cost of these changes. The price then went up $500 because of the change in stain. I called him and told him that we needed to wait until I got back to discuss this because we were not going to approve it. There was a 5 hour time spand between the first call and me telling him this and he said he had already put three coats of stain on. He got very forceful and bullied me on the situation, so I did not fired him at that time.
We found that he had rushed this because he had made so many mistakes that he was trying to cover it up. We then had pulling on the floor, which the gentleman working on our roofing, who is also a flooring specialist, told us would ruin the floors. We then had to strip this stain as soon as possible. AAA then came back and saw that we had removed the stain. They added it without us ok'ing the process. We then fired him because of this.
I had fired him on August 26 and his son got agressive with my husband. He then he told my husband on August 27 that he was going to finish the floors even after I had fired him. My husband then told him that he was not going to . We ended up having to hire someone else and they were not able to fix all of the damage he had caused. I ended up stopping the payment that we had given him because we found how much damage they had really caused. I looked at the invoice and found that, not only did he do a lot of damage to our home, but he was also double billing me.
AAA wanted to meet face to face. I had just returned home. I just wanted to settle the account. He then started to tell us how to handle the floors. My husband and daughter found that they had poored the stain and then rolled it on. He told us to hand apply it and then buff it, but they did not do that!
When he had sanded I asked them to block off the rest of the home and the vents, but he did not so there were inches of sawdust on everything. The glue they used got on my floors, walls, cabinets, and counters. I think that he was playing my husband and I against each other because he would call him for most issues, but when it came to the stain he called me because I was not able to see the damage from out of state.
He is not easy to work with. He and his crew, which is mostly family, did a bad job. He did poor craftmanship and he had no respect for my home.
