Westco Security and Technology Systems

Recently, my system failed to communicate with the monitoring station because the telephone number that WESTCO had programmed for the alarm system to call was no longer correct: it had been a seven-digit number but now had to be a ten-digit number. I requested that WESTCO do two things. First, alert other customers with similar alarm systems that their telephone numbers need to be reprogrammed. Second, refund the amount of money that I had paid for the monitoring service for the time that the alarm was not being monitored. WESTCO has refused to take either of these actions. Their position is that if a customer were to test their alarm system monthly, as they recommend, they would have discovered the problem much earlier. This is a callous disregard of customer safety. How many of their customers are still not being monitored and what will happen in an emergency situation?

They have always been prompt in calling if the alarm goes off.

Jon Beck came out at the agreed upon time, did a walk through with me, and provided an on-site assessment of our current system. Based on our discussion during the walk through, he followed up a couple of weeks later with upgrade options and estimated costs. We have not yet executed any changes, but that is budget driven. When the time is right, I will call Westco Security and schedule the work.

It was exceptional. They were great. I would highly recommend them. They arrived on time, got the job done, and cleaned up after they were done. They system works great.

Technician was extremely professional and they arrived on time. They cleaned up after themselves and seemed very knowledgeable about the product they were installing.

They couldn't get the wall mounted pad to work. Had to return twice to replace/repair. The cost seemed awfully high.

The technician who came out was very nice to work with. However, when he was up in the attic trying to run the cable down to one of the upstairs rooms, he was trying to drill through a 2x4, the drill hit a nail & jumped - punching an accidental hole in our drywall in a bathroom near the ceiling. The technician was very apologetic and told us he expected his company would repair the drywall. However, when we contacted his boss to get a repair scheduled, we were told that the contract says that they may "need to cut holes in the drywall" - so they will not be repairing this accidental hole in our bathroom. While the wiring work itself was OK - we are left with a hole in our bathroom - partially filled with silicone - that we will need to foot the bill to repair ourselves. In my opinion - there is a vast difference between an intentional/necessary hole in drywall and an on-the-job mistake that accidentally damages the personal property of a customer. Companies should stand behind both their work and their mistakes - but this company did not.

They seemed nice and professional. I haven't had the work done. I'm still considering the estimates. It's going to be a while before I get it done. I'm waiting for the year to complete before I can do their work. I haven't discounted them. I will surely call them back.

WESTCO did a very nice job on the installation. The system they provided is very nice and so far we have had no problems with it. They are priced very well, and the per month cost ends up being less than ADT, and you aren't required to maintain a contract for any length of time like you are with some other companies that subsidize the cost of the system. They also provided information on other upgrades that we could make to the system at a later date.

They do a very good job and are very responsive and so forth. They gave a bid recently for some extra stuff, but I did not use them because another company is doing it for a lot cheaper, but they are still my master company. I would use them again in the future.

The monthly monitoring fee is very inexpensive. They did a lot of work, all the construction and wiring. The audio system is amazing, it makes me wonder how I ever lived without it. They provide wonderful customer service.

They are always easy to get a hold of, and Janice always makes sure I am taken care of. She is great!

This company is incredible. With our architectural plans for the new home we were building, they were able to walk us through the process of customizing our home. Their product knowledge is exceptional and that made things easy. They educated us on all of our options available and worked diligently with us to customize our home for our entertainment and security needs. Westco provided all of the equipment including TVs, speakers, receivers, etc. They always kept their word and did what they said they were going to do (very refreshing). We highly recommend them to all of Angie's list members.

Bob Farb was very prompt in coming to the house to access what needed to be done, and quickly got back to us with an estimate. The pre-wiring was done on time. The finishing work took a little longer to complete, and we had to delay some other work. This was a typical of the company, because we have worked with them for 12 years, and they have always been very fast to respond to any work that was needed. I guess we needed this work done at a busy time. The technicians were very thorough and cleaned up after themselves.

POOR SERVICE. ALL DEALINGS WITH THE WESTCO OFFICE DEMONSTRATED TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY WERE RUDE, AND ALWAYS PASSED THE BUCK TO SOMEBODY WHO WASN'T IN THE OFFICE.
