This fix made it possible for us to put off new siding for maybe 5 years. We will definitely be calling J and J Siding & Window. I would suggest you call them also!! You will not be disappointed! Jake is a man of principal and character.
I am and will always be your biggest fan! "Thank you" just doesn't seem to quite express our gratefulness.
Jerry Gebhardt was my salesman, whom I chanced upon when I called J&J. Turns out he's been with J&J a long time and has sold a great deal of work in my subdivision, including (as it turns out) having installed the siding on my house about 10 years ago for the previous owners. (Timing worked out great, as I had a little siding damage from the spring storms, and he comped the repair - getting it done immediately - when I signed the window contract.) He spent a good amount of time at my house for the original visit, walking through the materials and options with me. At that point I wasn't sold yet on non-wood, so I next made trips to the various showrooms. I visited J&J last, and after seeing the much cheaper and the much more expensive options, I was sold on the value of these products. Jerry was able to provide a bit of wiggle room on the price, and there were both Verde promotions and an energy tax credit ($500) as well. He was also very patient with talking through all of my questions, happily providing references / examples of work near my home to be able to see. I booked the work at the beginning of July, and while we were delayed a bit (total about 8 weeks) in waiting for the windows and delays due to the hot weather, he took care of the siding repair immediately. I was flexible on installation timing, so that didn't really impact me too much.
For the product, I chose double hung windows with built-in grids and half screens (to allow more light); my patio doors were again middle of the line, but I was able to get a good match on color for my two rooms. When the installers got to my house, they took a little over 2 days (there were 2 of them) to get all of the work done. Having never replaced windows before, I was a bit nervous about the mess and the open holes in my house. However, I can say that the J&J crew left absolutely NO mess the entire time they were in my home, whether they were leaving for the day or in progress on a window (each person did one window / door at a time). They even worked around / remounted all of my window treatments. It's too soon to tell what kind of difference I'll really see in my energy bills, but I can say that my home comfort (particularly near the windows) is noticeably better.
I would happily recommend J&J and Jerry for this type of work again.
When the kitchen was ready for them to work, I got in touch and scheduled the installation date. They showed up on time, completed the fairly large amount work in a day, and cleaned up after themselves before they left.
Of the four window and siding contractors I contacted, I had been the most comfortable with J&J and their bid was competitive with the others that came in (significantly lower than one, within $100 of the other bid received, with the last contractor not having bid) so, it was an easy choice to use them.
