I worked with Austin Blau who was excellent. I was on a very tight budget for insulation but wanted the best I could afford. Austin came up with some great options like doing a mix of spray foam and batt insulation to get the most R value for my budget. It was an excellent idea. The temperature in the basement is very comfortable and I have received many compliments on how comfortable the basement is during the winter and summer months. I would recommend Austin and Green Space to my family and friends as a trusted contractor for insulation projects.
Description of Work: Due to flooding, I had to rebuild my entire basement. After the framing was finished, I needed insulation done.

Had Green Space Construction blow 11" of insulation into my attic. They did a very good job. The employees wore shoe covers in the house and put down plastic to cover the floors where the hose was ran. Had a couple of quotes and Green Space had the best price. Would recommend them again.

We moved to St Louis last year and bought an old house to completely renovate from the studs on and add an large addition. Foam insulation was the best option for us seeing as how all cavities were exposed. We used foam in Boston (in our last house) so we knew it was a superior product compared to other insulation options. I met with Austin early on and in the project and he was very professional and had a lot of good ideas. I also met with other foam insulation companies but they seemed more interested in getting in, shooting off a quote and that was that. Months passed by but when it was closer to insulate Austin was back a couple times to do more research and get the best option/balance/product for us. We ended up going mainly with open cell and some areas of closed cell, depending on where it was on the house. We agreed on a price and work started on the day we agreed on. The entire project is for a 3000 sf house so it was not a small job, at least from my eyes. They stared on time, work went well even though it was blazing hot outside. The crew was professional and his brother, Corey, the guy that did all of the spraying, is probably the hardest working guy in St. Louis. The project took 4 days but it went to 5 because I asked them to spray foam more areas, mainly between floors to minimize sounds from above/below. We agreed on a price, Austin emailed a change order and the work got completed in time. Cleanup and also very good. Overall, I think for the price I paid, the quality of the product, install, professionalism, I'm very happy with Greenspace and would highly recommend them. Nice work, guys! A+

Description of Work: They sprayed foam on the ceiling of our attic. (VERY HOT JOB!) |It took the better part of a day. They had to skillfully maneuver precisely to get the truck and large trailer up our long curved driveway. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Then they had to string the spray hoses from the truck onto the porch roof into the bedroom out to the hall and up to our attic. It was a toasty day and had to be a totally exhausting job. They consumed enough Gator aide, which they brought, to fill a kids pool but managed to get the job done. They cleaned up nicely including the hallway where they had access and the steps they walked up and down many times to cool off and avoid passing out. They were friendly but business like and concentrated on their mission. |There were a couple of minor hiccups and they took care of those also. |They instructed us to open windows and have fans going in the 2nd floor bedrooms to dissipate the fumes from the spray foam insulation. They had said we might not want to sleep on the 2nd floor because of the fumes. Since we could barely detected them after having the fans going and open windows we did sleep up there with a couple of windows open and couple of fans still exhausting the air. No problems. |They did incidentally covered part of a drop cord light with insulation. However, they returned a few days later to deliver a new one. They must have accidentally stepped on a round ceiling vent and pushed it down a bit into the room below but they got it back in the correct position and secured it without doing any damage. |It's noticeably cooler on these hot June days and our A/C doesn't run as much as it did. We're happy.

We are in litigation and I have gotten two quotes to repair the mess that they made. The repair estimates are from two qualified Angie list A rated contractors; one is for $3500 and other is $3600. I called the owner of the company to invite him to look at the work his employees did. In the intervening year, he never contacted me to come over and take a look at what the litigation is about. The insulation material is "off-ratio" and the installation of the material was unprofessional. There are significant voids, gaps and defects which negate the R-factor required by the City of Webster Groves. Additionally, the foam was not properly shaved making it impossible to drywall. I would not use them again and I strongly recommend that you not use them at all.
Description of Work: I used Green Space Construction for insulation in November 2013 and in fact my project has been shut down for 17 months because they did a very bad job.

We went with spray foam since we were expanding into an attic space which can be a challenge to insulate since the interior ceiling of the room is connected to the roof (with no attic space between). Spray foam is quite expensive compared to other methods so we got three quotes. First we researched. Green Space appeared to have a lot of experience in spray foam in this area and out of the st. louis area so we requested a quote. I checked reviews on Angies list and some Angies list reviewers noted it was difficult to contact Green Space. I did have to wait for a call back but then we received the quote fairly quickly. When I received the quote I was relieved to see it was very much lower than the other companies I had called. I saw that Green Space was a small company so I thought... so what if I have to leave a message and wait for a call back since they were able to give an extremely good price. I would gladly be patient to save a large sum of money. Perhaps they have low overhead because they are a small company so they can give a better value and and maybe they take less of a profit margin vs others. The spray foam job went very well. Came on time and were friendly and answered questions. All spaces were foam filled with the full thickness of the roof rafters and they filled a couple extra places. It is a messy process and they cleaned up after the job well. They mentioned they were heading out of state for multiple spray foam jobs the next day. The resulting rooms of our addition are comfortable, temperature wise. I would recommend Green Space for spray foam insulation because it is an expensive process but Green Space gave a very very reasonable price compared to others. They should get an A+++ for price. And of course they did a great job for that better price.
Description of Work: Green Space applied spray foam insulation in all the roof rafters for a second story three-room addition that was created from an attic space.

Corey showed up to give us a bid. He had the cheapest bid by 1/2. We let him know we definitely wanted the work done but didn't know exactly the timeframe since it was a complete reno. Corey told us that was no problem and lead time was 2 days. When we were ready for the work we called for a week and could not get a reply. Finally after 10 days we emailed letting him know we would have to go with someone else, this got an immediate response. Corey then told us it would be another week before he could get to us. We went with another contractor that could come in and get the work done. Sometimes the money isn't that important. It makes you worry about the quality of work.

Corey showed up for the estimate right on time, he was very polite and knowledgeable. He had his bid to me that same night and it was substantially less than other bids I had received. We scheduled an appointment within a week to do the job. Corey and Dan showed up right on time and was sitting up when I arrived at the house. They were both very polite. They got the project started within just a few minutes. I actually left while they were working, so they had every opportunity to skimp on the insulation, but they did not. I was very very pleased when I went back and inspected the job. Not only was the attic and crawl spaces now full of insulation, but they had done a great job of cleaning up, it was like they were never there.
Description of Work: Install insulation in attic and crawl spaces.

We scheduled an appointment with Corey. He never showed up, never called to notify us, never called to reschedule. Working with a local company was important to us, so we are disappointed with this kind of irresponsibility as we looked forward to working with him.
