Chesterfield Fence & Deck Company

I chose Chesterfield because of their reputation. My son is a surveyor and they refer work to him. He said they've got the reputation of being the best fencer. The price is about what I thought what it would be. I didn't get any other bids because I thought I would be going with the best. I definitely will use them in the future.

My experience with Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co. was good. They are expensive but they do a good job. I would use them in the future if required.

The overall experience, from my initial contact to job completion, was great, and the fence looks terrific.

Nothing in particular stood out. I was more impressed with another company.

I called Chesterfield Fence based on an ad I received in the mail. An estimator came out to measure the area where I wanted the fence and then sat down with me to explain the different fencing options. I had to pay 50% down before the would schedule the work and the balance was due upon completion. The estimator came out and remeasured about 5 days before the fence was to be installed. He marked where the corners were. He had already arranged for underground utilities to be marked. the fence installers arrived on time, went right to work, and were done within 6 hours. They never once knocked on the door and asked for water or to use the bathroom. They just worked! The fence is beautiful and my dogs enjoy having a yard to play in! My deck needs repairs and I am hiring Chesterfield Fence and Deck to those repairs as well.

Bad overall experience. The 2 men that installed the fence hit a gas line. One of the installers could not speak English. Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co. called Laclede Gas and 911. Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co. said they placed Dig Rite request online using Internet Ticketing. Laclede told us that a Dig Rite report was not filed. Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co did not send a representative to make sure everything was alright. Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co charged remaining balance to credit card without my signature authorization. Proceed with caution if you decide to have Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co install a fence. Before digging into the ground, you should insist on proof that Chesterfield Fence & Deck Co contacted Dig Rite before they install the fence. Or call Dig Rite to protect yourself and neighbors from possible, and unnecessary, damages.

They did the most fabulous job with that. My fence has become the envy of the whole neighborhood. I have a dog that eats everything or chew through; so I decided to go with black steel. It looks very classy. It is probably worth more than what I paid. It is worth every penny I paid. They were quick and finished the work in one day. They were very polite. I needed two gates. One will be a five foot big gate for the lawn guy to get in and the other smaller one. They did all that for me. The workers were nice. The leader of the group spoke more English than the others but we did not have a problem with that. Two weeks later my neighbor also had them put a fence. The fence blends in really nice. They gave me a lot of options as I did not want a glaring one. The salesman put up a lot of things that I had not even thought about. He really saw my needs and gave me the right project. They had to drill all the pallet holes. In spite of all the work they finished it in one day. They were very pleasant. They were fantastic.

Stewart came out 2 or 3 times to help me make my final decisions. He was always prompt and helpful with all my concerns. The fence was scheduled for installation sooner than I expected. We had a rainout on the day scheduled and they were out bright and early the next Monday. The three man crew did a good and speedy job. They were skilled, friendly and made sure they were doing exactlly the things I wanted done. The fence looks great and I have had several compliments on it. Although I have to say it has been so cold and rainy right after they installed it, I have not gone out to really do a fine tooth inspection. I did go out to make sure the gates were in proper working order and as far as I can tell the job is done expertly. I will give you all an update come Spring! I would use Chesterfield Fence again and would recommend them to my friends!

3 installers arrived 45 minutes ahead of schedule and lasted until 4:30p. The workers were professional, fully equipped and respectable of my property. They continually cleaned up after themselves and did not take multiple breaks. Living in South St. Louis means having trees with really big roots. The installers were able to work around this challenge with very little effort. I am making this evaluation/pictures 72 hours after installation. On this day, I checked for solid pole installation, pole lean and overall straight visual flow. The installation has passed all of these tests. My only wrinkle is the quality of the locks used for the walkgates; they do not appear to be the most sturdy. But, they will get the job done and work just fine. All-n-all this was a awesome experience from end-2-end. I have strong consideration for Chesterfield with regard to my deck upgrade next year and purchase of the finials for the fence. The deck planking is fine. The problem we've had since day one was the quality of the aluminum railings. Several pieces were replaced because of scratches and imperfections in the finish. The column caps were replaced after a few weeks because they became dull and the rest of the railing is a bright black. The replacement caps also became dull after several weeks. They told us it was typical for that manufacturer!!!!! After numerous conversations we pail them in full, a mistake, and they promised to return to fix a few minor items and send us the warranty for the railings. Haven't heard from them since.

I contacted a lady named Dawn and she put a package together a fence package for our association. She was very knowledgeable and patient. She brought samples of the fencing for me to take a look at. She showed a great deal of professionalism as it took over a year and a half for the decision to be made as to the particulars of the fence. She even found discounts that would work in our favor. She found the very best material for us and came out to meet with the other members and show us the process. She took a personal interest in the project and went the extra mile to make sure everything was sought to wonderfully. I found them through Angie's List and everything was satisfactory.

They did an outstanding job. The price was competitive. We needed the fence quickly because we had 2 dogs that were coming to live with us. They wound up putting the fence up in one day. The crew was courteous and really professional. I thought their price was good. They did the job in one day. They were here when they said they would be here and they worked all day. I was more than pleased with them. I would very definitely use them again in the future.

They were very good. Efficient and on time, they did high quality work.

A neighbor was having their fence replaced, so we decided to proceed with replacing our few fence pieces and chain link gate in the same style. I contacted Chesterfield to try and "add on" our fencing job so that Chesterfield would do all the work in the same visit. Trying to explain and coordinate the work with Chesterfield was difficult as our neighbors had already signed a contract, and we only had a small amount of work needed. Eventually, it was all figured out. Friday, the day the fence was to be installed, there was a hiccup. The city of St. Louis permit writer did not show up, so the fence installation was delayed until Monday. The fence looks great. We are happy.

Everything was excellent. They did a great job of steering us in the right direction. Their prices are extremely reasonable. Their quality of the work and craftsmanship was tremendous.

There were some delays because of communication due to a delay by me and then I was not contacted by them to reschedule but once on target it went very smoothly and the work and workers were great.

Great! They had the whole job done start to finish in one day, cleaned up after, helped guide me regarding city permits, and even came back the next day to replace the gate latches with ones that could be locked from the inside. (the latches they had locked on the outside of the fence, they would have put the other ones on if they had them on the truck). They offered free financing which really helped us, especially since they were quite a bit more expensive than the other two estimates I had done. But the end result showed that in this case, I got what I paid for.

From the first contact with the sales person to the last contact with the office staff to complete payment, this job went 100% smoothly. I got a very fair price, and the fencing was installed promptly with a high degree of excellence. I would definitely use this firm again.

Pretty well. The finished product is beautiful and the workers were really good and very helpful. Six months later, however, I had to have 35 eastern red cedar boards replaced because they were splitting down the middle. The woman in the office said it was typical of the wood to split and that I should expect it to happen but the boards were literally splitting down the middle, many of the boards were split at least 6 to 10 inches at the top, some all the way down the middle and would have eventually fallen apart if they had not been replaced. There is a 20 year warranty on the wood, and everything I've read tells me that the wood is not supposed to do this, so I believe that they put up some bad wood. Toward the end of the project, the workers were sorting through wood left on their truck and classifying it as bad or good. There are about 10 more boards that have begun to split, and the woman in the office told me not to expect them to replace it all the time, so this report might be updated depending on what happens to the rest of the wood. All in all it was a fairly good experience but I'm concerned about the wood splitting.

Great service and workmanship. The sales rep even took time out to explain to the next door neighbors where the fence was going, materials used and method. The job itself took less than four hours. It is beautiful and I believe it may outlive me. They warranty their work for five years and twenty years on the product.

Being eager to get the fence installed, I was pleased when they agreed to postpone their scheduled install until our lot survey was completed. However, I feared that I would be put at the end of the list. But the following day I called them back and let them know the survey was finished. Despite the threat of rain they came the next day and professionally completed the job. The fence and gate look great.

Salesman (Kevin) provided good counsel and a variety of options to achieve our desired outcome. He spent as much time as we needed to make the right decision for us in terms of material, design, etc. Slowest part of the process is permitting (between city and county). It was not their fault. Work crew did a great job. We had an engineering challenge because of drainage tubing installed along our retaining wall. The engineer and crew came up with a great solution that looks fabulous. Construction is top notch. Site was completely cleaned up upon completion. Warranty information, lien waiver, etc. was all mailed in a timely manner upon final payment.

I am not satisfied with the services they performed. The contract says that if the work is not done in seven days, then I will have to pay for the services.

They did a good job. I would use them in the future.

It would probably have been cheaper if we had had the whole fence done. However, they custom built the gates for us. They had to keep in mind the slope and other things. We worked out all of that. Generally, the sales representative was fantastic. She went over all my options. The fence needed a higher yard. We have an access way for power on our property. She found out from me that all we needed to have was a gate that they could go through and we could enclose our backyard. She ended up saving me that. All we did was close off the ends. They were very professional and very good. There was one problem and it was my fault. I was rushing to get back from work. The person who installed the gate had my mother sign that the work was okay. We have a latch that is not right. I should have called them back and told them about it. I am sure they would have fixed it but I have not had the time to do it. It was excellent and I would do business with them in the future.
