They were a little bit higher in price. But they did a good job with quality. The fence looks very nice and they came right away.

The salesman and workmen were professional and helpful. No complaints whatsoever with the experience or with the work performed.
Description of Work: Removed old chain link fence and wood fence, installed 90-some feet of six foot cedar privacy fence, with gate. The project was exactly as promised and finished in less than a day. All debris was removed, and the workmen did a nice job solving a small problem connecting to my neighbor's chain link fence, to make sure their man-eating dog won't get loose and wreak havoc on the neighborhood.

I had on the worst experiences with Chesterfield Fence and Deck Company. They build a 2 tier deck that was not reinforced. You could stand large portion of the deck and you could sway it back and forth. You could even move some of the posts about a foot each way. They told us that it was supposed to be that way. They did not follow the drawings that I had to sign prior to work being done. The steps were not installed properly according to the drawings. When I brought this to his attention he stated that it was just a piece of paper. After a long process the company did come out to fix the job.

It did go well, definitely will not use them
Description of Work: I called to get an estimate with measurements that I was providing. When I asked how much it would cost he didn't offer a price he gave me a math lesson in how I could figure the price on my own. I asked him twice how to do the math and he gave the equation but never offered to figure it for me. I can't go with a company that is so lazy they won't even give answer a simple question of how much is this going to cost me!

The experience was wonderful and I would call them again in the future. I contacted the company and they responded the same day we set up an appointment at the showroom and went over products and design. They came out to my house and took pictures and exact measurements. I like that they are securing the permits for the deck since it looks very complicated to acquire. T

I went with Chesterfield Fence because of their reputation. They are not the cheapest, but cheapest is not always the best. Our saleman Bo was good to work with. There was an error made on the quote, with an inaccurate measurement. They agreed to take half of the responsibility for the error, which I think was fair. Overall I am satisfied with the work.

It was a beautiful fence. When there was an issue with it, they were supposed to come out and perform some repairs, but they only showed in the first couple of years. After that, trying to get them to come out and perform the repairs is like pulling out a tooth. They did a good job, but when it came to repairs that were in my contract, I was not satisfied.

Estimator came to the home twice, was polite and punctual. He provided plenty of information about the product used and I felt confident in the company. Their bid came in significantly higher than the runner up (for the exact same product), but after negotiation, they came down significantly and I chose them based on their slightly better reputation for on-time installation. The installers came exactly as scheduled, and were polite and professional. I'm very satisfied with the work done. We initially thought about trying to do this project ourselves, but are so glad we hired them. It took them full two days to complete it and they clearly had the routine down. I can't imagine what a nightmare this project would have been without them. Other than the initial quote, we were very happy with this company and would definitely use them again. Haven't had to follow up with them for any issues with the fence, but from what I can tell, they will be responsive if anything ever comes up.

I hired this company in July to install a 4' fence and after having multiple problems with one particular gate and misleading sales pitch from Keith Uhrig, the manager Tom ensured us that the deck project would go much smoother and he would make sure that we are not charged anything extra for "hard holes" (basically means holes dug by jack hammer). On our fence project, we were charged an additional $400 for all 25 posts that had to be jack hammered (read my review on fence project to get more details.) Any way, our deck project got started Monday, September 27, 2012. We were told that this project would take about 3 days. All projects are depended on weather too. My husband and I were not home during this remodel and could tell upon our arrival home in the later afternoons, that it didn't look like much progress was being made but we didn't say anything then because we don't know how quick they are suppose to move or how many people were on the crew for our job. On 8/27/12, our existing deck was removed. On 8/28/12, new deck floor and temporary posts installed. On 8/29/12 the permanent post installed and the steps were started. But on this same day, we found quite a bit of problems with the progress (photos attached). On 8/30/12 I emailed Paul at Chesterfield Fence & Deck our photos and concerns. He didn't respond to me (as requested), but we did get in touch with Chad (our project lead guy), Chad informed us that it's only been him and one other guy working on our project and that the other guy has had family issues which has been causing them to stop the project mid day all week. Chad assured me that he fired this 2nd crewman and him and a new guy will get everything fixed to satisfaction and that the problems were caused by the guy he fired. Our concerns were that the three posts did not align properly and didn't seem structurally sound. The stairs were too bouncy and two support posts needed to be added underneath to be secure. On this same day 8/30/12 Chad did fix everything but couldn't wrap up the job Friday because of rain. Chad and crew (new guy plus the guy he fired) returned on Tuesday, 9/4/12 and completed everything we asked. All he needed to do was return either 9/5 or 9/6 to remove the concrete covering for posts and that's it. Chad did not return either of these two days and when I called him on Friday 9/7/12 he said he asked Derrick (guy he fired) to stop by our house and remove coverings. Since Derrick did not, Chad suggested coming out Monday 9/10/12 to complete, but I suggested that he return Saturday (on his day off) to handle this task, being that no one called us to advise it wouldn't get completed and didn't follow through with promise. Chad agreed and apologized for the mishap and returned Saturday morning 9/15 to remove coverings. Futhermore, the project still remained unresolved because the county inspector still needed to visit our site to approve and sign off on final evaluation and mind you, we could not use our new deck until this was completed. I waited until Monday 9/17/12 before calling Chesterfield to inquire and left a voice message for Dave Williams to call me. Dave did not call me back (normal practice for this company) and on Wednesday 9/I9/12 I called Dave again where he answered the phone and of course had several excuses for not returning my call but ensured that the final inspection would be done on 9/20/12. Upon arriving home 9/20/12 the inspector did visit and provided final approval of the project. During this deck project, I had a conversation with Tom (manager who claimed to save me money for hassles of Fence/Deck projects) but in fact, Tom was not saving us any money. That's because after rereading our contract for the deck, it was already an exclusion that we would not be charged for hard holes (jack hammered holes). So again, mislead and sheisty representation by everyone, from the sales guy to upper management. SAD! I will never use this company again! Their is no question about the finished results and how much we think everything is beautiful, but our experience with customer service, management escalation to get issues corrected and misleading sales pitch were just too much hassle and not worth it.

It was costly because we had an arbor put in. They did a fantastic job! The sales guy came out and talked to me. He went over the entire range of fencing that we could do. He explained the cost and how it would all work. We already had gotten another estimate for the job and it wasn't exact. Chesterfield's cost was lower than the other one with a discount added on. I feel like he did something extra for me there. He came back out and did another run through with my husband. He even did a last check-up before he started. It's a really, really nice fence. I thought the entire company went above and beyond my expectations. When they were done, they cleaned up everything. I would recommend them to anyone.

When dealing with this company and this project, there were several layers of personnel you had to deal with at different levels. Often the correspondence were via emails or phone calls made by me.The salesperson came initially as requested. He provided samples and several pricing options. This company was typically higher than some other companies. I chose to go with them and signed the papers in April. Once I signed the papers, i noticed there was a coupon in the local mailings that quoted a 15 per cent discount on jobs that met the dollar amount I was spending. I called my salesrep and inquired, and he stated he had given me the discount (although the paperwork did not reflect that in writing). I suggested in the future the company might want to show that type of detail in the contract. Regardless, I could not confirm if I did indeed receive a discount.Over the course of the next few months I continued to inquire about my installation timeline. I felt I had to do a lot of footwork myself and make a number of call on my own. Some of the delays it was noted by the company were for drawings and permits. I made another call in later June in attempt to obtain an installation date. Finally, I was given one. The company has lots of big jobs, and I felt my smaller job was placed at the end of their list. After the first initial visit, I did not have a lot of help from my salesperson. The crew arrived on a Saturday, and worked the entire day in very hot weather to complete the job.Overall the quality of the work seems to be good and solid.I continued to have to make calls to company to check on my post (permit) inspection. The rep stated that somehow it did not get into the system. Finally, it appeared the inspection did occur. My salesperson did not followup with me after the completion of the job.Again, the company does fairly good work, but did not have a great response time or followup.
Description of Work: I had a small 4'x6' deck with steps installed on the backside of my house. The house has a walk out basement so the space was tight and somewhat challenging where the deck was to be installed. I chose to use their line of vinyl compressed; no maintenance building materials, thus the cost was somewhat higher.

Dee Williams came to my home to provide with an estimate to replace fencing. She was professionally dressed and on time. She called me before she arrived (which I appreciated). Her demeanor was courteous but very business oriented. She listened to my vision of what I wanted and then went outside to measure. She showed me a sideshows of completed fences and helped me to visualize what we were discussing. She really new everything about her job and was so proud of the company. She gave me a lot of helpful information. I was very impressed with her and the company. They are a little bit more than the other estimates that I received but the company and their fencing product really sold themselves. Dee really listened to me and tried to recreate what I was wanting. Our yard is very large and we need more time to prepare for the expense. I would recommend Dee to anyone interested in getting a fence.

Description of Work: My husband and I got several estimates from different fence companies and after speaking with the sales man that came to our house we both knew that we wanted to go with Chesterfield Fence. Although there were other companies that were cheaper, they did not care as much or want to take the time to answer our questions like Chesterfield Fence did. I would recommend this company to anyone that needed a fence.

Contacted Chesterfield Fence & Deck mid May to schedule appointment for fence estimate. Salesman Keith scheduled to come out 5/24/12. On 5/24/12 5:30pm, Salesman Keith was very puntual and professional. Keith presented all information my husband and I wanted and needed. Keith said that this job would take 1 day to complete. Also said that Chesterfield Fence & Deck holds their crewman to the highest standard and quality of work. Any repairs or warranty work that needs to be done afterwards, we send out the same crew that intalled the fence, back out to do the repairs. This work is also done on their own time and do not get paid for it. This is why we are one of the best in this field and market and our work shows it. My husband and I were very impressed with that level of service! We did express concern with the force or lengths it would take to dig the holes for our fence posts because our soil is all rock. Keith pointed out that they have done other properties on our street (he pointed out houses) and said there was no problem digging those holes by hand. But we did have to sign, acknowledging that if the crew does have to use mechanical (jack hammer) forces to dig the holes for fence posts, it's only be $16 per hole. We didn't think that was an unfair price considering he knows the field and history of the Jefferson County soil. We could afford a couple unexpected jack-hammered holes if that should happen. On 5/30/12 I spoke with Keith to find out when our fence install was going to be scheduled and he said that he would call back on Monday 6/4/12. Chesterfield Fence & Deck has very unusual and unorthodox methods for scheduling jobs in my opjnion. You can't just call and ask for a date that is best for both parties, but rather when it's best for them. But they require you to plan around their schedule and be onsite to sign paperwork when jobs are complete. Our fence project got scheduled for 6/26/12 and the two-man crew showed up bright and early and started working. I scheduled a vacation day with my employer to be home when the fence was being installed. On the first day, (as I sat inside my house and periodically check on the progress) I start hearing the sounds of the jackhammer. I didn't think much of it, since it was possible to be expected, but at the end of the day, I had to give them $400 for jackhammering 25 holes (every single post). The crew also informed me that the job was not complete and that the posts have to have time to set up in the concrete and they would be back the next morning to finish the job. So now, I'm having to take another vacation day from work. I'm not very happy at this point. The same crew returned the next morning and finished the job in about 4 hours. I was able to return to work for a half day. The end result was beautiful! On 7/6/12 we scheduled another appointment with Keith to return and talk about our next project and having our existing deck removed and installing a new one. At this time, we asked Keith get a work order created and have "the crew" come back out and fix one of our sagging gates on the new fence. Again, between too many emails and miscommunication from Keith and his scheduling office, we didn't see the gate repaired until 7/26/12. I just think that is way too long, especially when we were told they same crew would come out on their own time and dime to make repairs. You guessed it... salesman Keith was honest about that part of service. On 8/15/12 we contacted Chesterfield Fence and Deck to report the same gate is starting to sag and to have someone to come out and fix. To date, 8/17/12, our gate is not repaired and still haven't heard when they will be out to fix. As of 8/23/12 our gate has been fixed again, but not to our liking. We can tell that we will continue to have this problem until they breakdown and place some kind of tension mount on the gate. We'll play their game but we know that we have to play it smarter and better. We do currently have Chesterfield Fence & Deck scheduled to install a new deck on same property this September 2012. Management at Chesterfield Fence & Deck have workED with us and our issues with the fence, and worked up a fair deal for our deck and to help offset their shortcoming in service. I will post another review once the deck is complete and once we see our gate repairs on the fence.

We went through a couple companies to figure out which one would fit our fence need the best. While we didn't go with Chesterfield Fence, it was not because they lacked anywhere, but because we had another home issue that needed our attention first. They did have a higher price than other fence companies, but they were not the most expensive. I can't stress how fast, professional and friendly they were. The person I dealt with through email was also the person who came out to our house for the estimate. His name is Abdul Ahmed and he was really nice, knowledgeable and was able to give us plenty of options to fit our need. We will definitely look to them again in the future.

Great company to deal with. Salesperson was responsive via e-mail and phone, came out, bid, was patient with the subdivision's delays. Multiple bids were attained and Chesterfield Fence was right in-line with their competition. The installers came out and I met them, but they'd already begun the job, which was fine. By that day's end, they had finished the job, a fence installed on two sides of the street.. adjacent to two homes, without power or water (homes were quite far away from street). The crew had a small generator, the right tools, and water to pour concrete. The guys were good, the salesperson also good. I liked dealing with this company. FYI the Ozark Timber has held up extremely well and I'd also recommend this product for fencing, as it's been around for decades. The installation, a year+ later, still stands and looks great. I have no doubt, short of someone driving through the fence (this is was what caused problems in past, with the rotting fence), that this fence will last for 40+ years.
Description of Work: Subdivision fencing installation (Ozark Timber). This was a rather large front subdivision fence. Old fence was removed by subdivision.. it was dry rotted. Chesterfield Fence were able to re-use some holes in the ground, but basically had to "start over" because their Ozark Timber fence was a different length (posts spaced apart differently).
