We worked with Keith from Chesterfield. He was very professional, communicated well, was responded quickly to emails and phone calls as we negotiated terms for a deck and fence. We were on a tight budget and schedule and did not contract with Chesterfield b/c we were able to get a better price and quicker installation date for the same service from a similar vender. However, I would not hesitate to contract with Chesterfield in the future, as well as recommend them to others for service.

You want me to say yes or no on using them again, you need an "I don't know" category too, because at this point I'm not sure. There are things they did well, and other things I am not happy about. So, I said yes because it's possible, but it is not guaranteed. They claim their fencing needs no maintenance and will last 30 years, which was part of why we went with them even though they are expensive. The fence does look very nice and, once they actually arrived to do the work, it was completed quickly. Those are the good parts. These are the bad parts: First, only 1 member of the crew spoke any English, and it was basic, not fluent. The rest spoke Bosnian. The company should send their crews to English as Second Language classes and stress the importance of learning English. They apparently don't. Second, they put the wrong latch on my fence. I have a pool. It is very obvious I have a pool. The crew should have been trained in meeting the pool codes and apparently weren't. I had to call and have them come back out to replace the latch. They did come back the next day, however, it should have been done correctly in the first place. Especially after the salesman stressed how knowledgeable their crew supposedly are. The crew also said they would check on a different type of latch as the one put on was not what I expected, and would get back to me. Once they left, I heard nothing (see point 4.) Third, they held my deposit for 8 weeks before finally doing the work. I understand the storm damage pushed schedules back, that's not the point. It wasn't the delay I had a problem with, it's them hanging onto my money during it. My fence is a standard one using wood they regularly stock . There was nothing custom about it. Their explanation is that they have to treat everyone, custom or not, the same. Why? Other businesses don't. Other businesses which deal with stock and custom orders treat custom differently and take a larger deposit for custom then stock. Chesterfield got to take my money and earn 2 months of interest I should have been able to earn. When it is not a custom order, and schedules are out that far, they should take less than the 50% they require, then call when they actually place you on the schedule for the remainder of the 50%. And I was not told of the 8 week delay until after I had sent my check. I was told my concern was brought to the owner's attention, but never received a response to my concern. Fourth, I had to call them after 2 months to find out what the heck was going on. They should have been calling or emailing me every 2 or 3 weeks, or at least once a month, to keep me apprised of where I was in the Que. And I got the distinct impression that had I not called them, I would still be waiting with no word from them. They made me feel like my job had been forgotten. We chose them in part because so many reviews said they were attentive. But I always had to initiate the contact, there was nothing proactive in their approach. So, will I use them again? I honestly don't know. I have high expectations. I expect proactive practices, I do not expect to have to always be the one who calls them. Proactive is service, me having to call is not.

- We requested a bid to replace or re-surface our 2 cedar decks with low maintenance composite materials. - Salesperson came out to bid work and I met with him alone. - He advised the upper deck support structure was not up to code and we should replace the entire structure. - the issues were: joists were 2' on center (too spaced) and the bay window was not H framed creating to much stress on the bay window. - an adequate fix would be to add joists to be 1' on center if using low maintenance materials and H frame the bay window. - the bid came in and it was VERY high probably partly due to the entire structure fix, etc. - after the bid came in I e-mailed him asking to discuss the bid to consider other options to bring cost down. - I received no response to this first e-mail at all. - we could of discussed different materials. doing one deck instead of both. the less expensive fix of structure not involving replacing the entire structure which was beyond what was needed - My partner and I went in that Saturday intending to talk directly with that salesperson at the store in chesterfield valley. - The store employee we talked to said that the salesperson who gave me the bid was on vacation. - the store employee who tried to help us was disinterested and seemed bothered by our presence even though we were the only people in the store. - the following Monday, I e-mailed our original salesperson once again asking to discuss the costs if we were to go with cedar or some other kind of materials - Once again, I received no response from that salesperson. - I do not recommend this establishment. The salesperson who bid the work has ignored us after the first bid. - The staff is very insensitive and made us feel uncomfortable while visiting the establishment on a Saturday afternoon. - I can understand maybe not getting an email from the first time because he was on vacation. - but then the store employee was rude and disinterested, then still no response to the second e-mail too. - honestly, i'm not so sure we weren't discriminated against for being a same s** couple

Decided to go in a different direction.

The sales guy was ok. Came out and measured once and provided me with a quote for the work. I had my property corners maked and they came out again to re-measure. The price was more than I wanted to spend, but they had a style of fence I didn't see offered by others. The Angies list coupon helped keep them lower than other bids I received. There was a little confusion when the workers showed up the first day of the job. I had been told to be sure and be home because the sales guy and constructuion manager wanted to go over the side of the yard that we had to work around an existing fence that I could not take down, because he wanted to be sure the end product would meet my expectations. Neither of them showed up and when I called, the sales guy said he never told me that anyone would be meeting me. I thought it would be the beginning of a horrible situation. The workers did fast and good work, and were also very understanding of my neighbor, who was splitting the cost of reach of fence between our yards and had his own opinions of how the fence would be done. Everything looks great, and it keeps my dog in the yard, which was my biggest concern.

The job took a little longer to plan than expected, but once the work began, went extremely well. Our crew took six (6) days to tearout and build the decks because of the intense heat each day, but their attention to detail was impeccable, and their work ethic was also outstanding. Chesterfield Fence and Deck provides quality materials, and quality workmanship. I apid for the work in three installments. One at the beginning of the planning phase, one when they began the work, and the final payment when work was completed and a site inspection was completed by the city zoning board.

They did an excellent job. The only minor complaint we would have is that the crew worked awfully late on the first day (until approx. 9pm). This didn't bother us but we were concerned about the neighbors and for the crew it was a really long day for them. I think they were under a lot of pressure from the office to complete the job as soon as possible. Other than that the quality of the fence is outstanding and the job site was left in excellent condition. There price was the highest of the 3 estimates we received but the warranty and quality of the materials made up for the difference in our opinion.

Called for an estimate and the salesman called me back at 7pm on a Friday night. He showed up on time for the estimate but could not come up with any solution to replacing our metal railing with vinyl. Seems to me that with a little more thought some solution could exist. They may be only into doing easier jobs that don't require much thought.

The service was excellent and they were very good.

when i called back to see if they could give me a chain link estimate instead of the wood fence, the man said he would get back to me and never called. Makes me wonder what type of service I would get if I actually paid them and what if something was wrong with the product. It's just not professional and very bad busienss to not call back potential customers.

They were very nice and good because the technician that came out on his paper work he bought the wrong side spacing between the flats and he was very, very rude on the phone and would not admit his mistake till I got enhance with the manager and I told her what had been done and she's very nice. Due to his rudeness and mistake on paper I got a spacing enclosure for a cheaper price. After rectify the situation they stayed and laugh at my dog and they had me walked me around and leave the door at the center and try to get me and they would laugh at that.

We worked with Christian and he was very professional and pleasant throughout the entire process. I appreciated that he showed us many different styles and price ranges for our new fence. When we decided on the one we wanted, he was very honest in pointing out at that it was going to be about twice the cost of the more standard fence. He gave us the estimate right then and there and the final invoice we got was the exact same price, no surprises! As for the actual work, I couldn't have been happier. They arrived early each morning and worked very hard throughout the day. I barely saw them take a break! There was a bit of a language barrier with them but they were extremely nice and professional. If they had any question about whether we would like something or wanted something a certain way, they came and asked us which I really appreciated. Due to a retaining wall issue, we have to get a part of our fence taken down temporarily and later replaced and I will say I think the price they are charging us for that is quite steep but I unfortunately don't have a choice. This would be the only very slightly negative thing I would have to say since I thought maybe we would get a break considering what we previously spent. But, in the end I know they have to pay the people to come and do the work so I have to trust that they are being honest in what it costs.

We ordered our fence through Bill the salesman who came to our home. We stressed time was essential as we have two large dogs and had just purchased the house with no fence. Bill was very sympathetic and assured us the fence would be ready to install in 4-5 weeks. We picked Chesterfield because of their reputation, the price was the lowest among our three quotes, and the timeframe. I gave Chesterfield B overall and a B with responsiveness because at four weeks I contacted them and was told it was going to be another four weeks till the fence could be installed. After going back and forth they agreed to install it in three weeks which was seven weeks after we ordered it. The reasons given were the crews were behind due to rain and other installations taking longer than expected. The day before the fence was to be installed I received a phone call stating that they were going to have to push the install back another week because they were behind (this would be 8 weeks). I asked for a discount and was told Bill would have to call me about one. He never called and my husband ended up calling and speaking with a manager. The manager was sympathetic and agreed to credit us the amount we were spending boarding our two dogs for the week until the fence was installed. He also promised to have the fence installed by the end of Saturday (this was Wednesday). We went on vacation Thursday and Friday morning a crew arrived and installed the fence. It was done by Friday afternoon. When we came home today the fence looks great, there was no mess, and everything was completed as promised. I am very happy with the quality, the price, and if it wasn't for the wait it would have been an A rating.

Due to my work schedule, I was unable to witness any of the job being performed. They took care of all the details. Everything got done and cleaned up. I can't say any thing bad about the entire experience.

The job was scheduled to take one day but due to rain it ended up being two days. The installers were very understanding that my daughter has three dogs and needed to make sure there was not a day without a fence. They installed the new fence posts on day one. On day two they removed the chain link fence and put up the wood privacy fence. The materials were of high quality and the installation was phenomenal. Over the next month we found pieces of chain link throughout the yard, but that was to be expected with the amount they had to cut and move away in one day. They even removed the concrete out of the ground from the old fence which a lot of other companies refused to do. The price was high but Chesterfield Fence did an excellent job. Keith U. was our salesman and he was great and responsive throughout the whole process. I would definitely recommend Chesterfield Fence.

My experience with Chesterfield Fence & Deck Company was fine. Their professional. Everything was written out for me and explained to me. He showed me the product and measured completely. He seemed more transparent than other companies. Their price seemed a little high, but compared to other bids I got, they came in a little cheaper. Their quality was great. I got what I wanted.

They are the highest quote we've got, but it's also the best product. They have been in business for like 44 years. That's why we selected them. They have done everything that they said they would do for us as far as price and everything go.

They completed the work quickly, in one day. They were terrific. I would recommend their services.

We chose Chesterfield Fence to install a four season room, in part due to positive reputation of the company. This has been one of the most expensive mistakes we have ever made. We have experienced poor workmanship, terrible follow through from customer service in responding to problems, and ineffective solutions when we did get a response. The installation process was inept. We had flooding in our home due to a rain storm when the roof was off during the installation process and experienced dry wall damage. We were told that it did not need to be replaced. After it dried out, it required us to repair damage with spackling to try and even out the surface again. We had to paint the whole great room, dining room and kitchen as we no longer had paint to match the area we had to repaint. The person contracted to do the dry wall on the four season room side took weeks to accomplish his job and we still had to go back and fill in imperfections in the dry wall before we could paint the walls. The installation process left a hole above the eves of the roof line and we ended up with birds in our attic. My husband had to crawl through the attic space to nail in a board to close the hole. All of these problems occurred at the time of installation which was around 4 1/2 years ago. My hope was to never have to contact this company again after such a fiasco in getting the four season room installed. In 2012 we experienced hail damage on the house and recently noticed that there was damage along a window of the sunroom. It looked like it should be a easy repair and would required a part from the company that made the sun room. Reluctantly I called Chesterfield Fence to come out to look at the damage to see what would be involved in fixing the damage. I also asked them to address other problems that have come up with the sun room since its installation. The sliding door continuously catches on a screw and it cannot be opened and we experienced water in the sun room after one rain storm when the wind appears to have blown in water through a gap in an upper level window in the sun room. After a home visit from an employee I was called and told that the sunroom parts are no longer available and the piece needed to repair the window could not be obtained as the manufacturer of the sunroom went out of business. No real solutions were offered at that time. After a few weeks I called the company back to arrange for another home visit to address these issues and was told that the only solution that the company could offer would be to reframe the window with another type of material. It would not match the rest of the windows and if I wanted to have all the windows reframed so they would match I would be provided with a quote as to that cost. I asked that the cost of reframing all of the windows be covered under the warranty that is still in place on the sunroom as the integrity/value and look of the sunroom would be compromised by mismatched repairs. I was told that the warranty was no longer valid as the company is out of business and my request would not be considered. I asked to speak to the owner to address this issue and was eventually contacted by a manager, not the owner a few days later. Also, when the Chesterfield Fence representative came out to my home to look at the damage and sliding door problem a second time, he did look at the door and the screw that was catching on the door. The way he corrected the problem was to take out the screw as he saw no purpose for it to be there. He asked if that was Ok. I am not the professional in fixing the problem on the sunroom. I don't know the purpose of the screw in the door. If the door is no longer securely attached as the screw was removed as that was his solution to the problem, who is responsible for the problem and potential damage? I am still waiting to hear back from Chesterfield Fence to clarify their plan to repair the sunroom. When I spoke to the Manager, Mr. Fields in April, I was told that they would get back to me within a week to review the plan they have come up with to fix the damage as I was not satisfied with their initial plan to repair the damage. It is now June and my emails have received no written reply. They did submit a picture and estimate for repairs to my insurance company weeks ago and that has been the last I have heard from the company.

Service was excellent! Bill was our sales rep and is very knowledgeable on the products and process. In addition, he was very understanding and was willing to work with our difficult situation; as we contracted to lay sod in our backyard and needed them to come back at a later date to finish off the gated entrance. Fence turned out looking amazing and was built really quickly. The crew started at 7:30 AM and ended up finishing it by 1 PM, all but the gated entrance. The fence is sturdy and I could have not asked for a better situation. The company does great work and they are willing to work with you on competitive quotes. I highly recommend them!

We'd gotten a lot of friends recommendations for the them. We'd also gotten other quotes & they had the best. We liked their product. The workmen who came out were fine & gave us a good idea of our options based on our property.

The company was very friendly and professional to work with. The quote I was given was $1000 higher than another Angie's List company that used the same high quality price. I ended up choosing the lower quote. Other than a very high price this seems like a great company.

I would recommend Chesterfield Fence & Deck Company.
