I went with Berry Doors thinking that they were a quality company and especially since they didn't sub out. Spent almost $15,000. I was expecting custom doors and quality workmanship. . Not-so-much. I would never, ever, ever recommend Berry Doors and I'm sorry that I ever went with them. They cut through my ceramic kitchen tile without notifying me. I had them out 2 separate times to tell me "exactly" what they would need to do, the cost estimate and details. Nothing, nada about that. Then on the day of installation I "overheard" one worker saying to another that they had to "cut through" the tile and cut part of it off!!! At that point it was too late - mid installation. Even then I had to ask them "What the ****"???? Then after they wanted me to sign their statement of work and cutting through my ceramic kitchen tile was in large print highlighted in yellow, like they had notified me before. I was like NO WAY am I going to sign that. IF they had told me this when the should have, I wouldn't have gone with them. I would have gotten someone else. IF it HAD to be done, I would have hired a tile guy to do it right. Seriously ****** off at the entire experience and all they do is blame the customer. Horrible. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.

Actually a (-)minus rating would be more accurate for the company. I paid 8k for a Barn door and still Not finished (5month later! ) Workman ship is unprofessional, response of my calls zero (off course I’m in idiot because I paid 8k according to contract terms to Berry Doors & windows, I did my part per contact..., Berry doors and windows NOT!). My advice do not use this company, it’s a money trap if you still like to use them make sure you holding enough money back for the smallest complain. I learned my lesson. Thomas Mueller

Response from Berry Door & Window
Mrs. [Member Name Removed] ordered a custom size piece of glass for her entry door. This piece of glass required a custom-made frame. The custom frame failed. The replacement frame unfortunately took 10 weeks to be re-manufactured and shipped to us. Manufacturing updates were made with Mr. Rebstock and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] as we received them. Upon ordering the replacement frame we clearly communicated with the customer the replacement process would take 6-10 weeks to re-manufacture.

We were a bit shocked with how much the door cost, but did shop around and got similar prices from other providers. Most importantly, the service was great and the quality of the door and its installation so far seem superb. We got exactly what we wanted.

Great! So glad we went with Berry for our windows. They were just a bit more than other 'similar' windows . Well worth a small premium...you get what you pay for! One thing that's easy to forget is the 'finish work', these people are meticulous. The exterior was wrapped on all sides and all caulk work looked fantastic...attention to detail tells me a lot about the whole job. Installers were professional, very careful removing old windows and bringing in new ones. Obvious they they are pros. Clean up was very good. Sales rep was great, not high pressure. The windows are very well made and look great. Did my research, the windows are highly rated in the industry. Highly recommended.

The repairman was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, and meticulous in his assessment and work. Since he was already there he looked and adjusted both doors and explained thoroughly what he was examining and tweaking to make them both work efficiently. These doors were installed in 2004 and this is first time we have had service. I purchased these doors, and openers from them. They weren't the cheapest, but obviously the sold me quality. I am very pleased with my service and it validates my decision about using Berry Door.

The fact that they do not subcontract out work is a big selling point for me. The same workers installed my windows and the doors I have put in. They clean up and keep me in the loop with my orders. They take the time to explain what they are doing and why. They point out problems as they run into them and give honest recommendations of how to fix them. Maybe I could have bought cheaper windows from a big box store, but I think the price was fair for the service I have come to know from this company. They are honest, competitive, sell Made in the USA products (my windows were made in OH) and provide up front costs with no hidden agenda. Jerry (salesman) has sold me 2 front doors, 24 windows and a garage door over the 13 years I have lived in St. Louis. I just can't imagine going anyplace else as the workman ship and quality will be hard to match.
Description of Work: over the last 9 months I have had Berry Door and Window put 24 replacement windows in my house. In June of 2016, they did 14 on the back of the house and just last week they finished the 10 on the front of my house.

Within minutes of posting my review. One of the new garage doors stopped working properly. It wouldn't close. I called Berry Door to report the problem. The first question I was asked was if I bought garage door openers with the new garage doors. We did not, since our existing ones were relatively new and in good service. The person who answered the phone said that I'd have to wait a day for them to come out. He then started stating rates for a service call and the cost of new garage door openers. I told him that it seemed odd that the problem happened less than 24 hours after the new garage doors were installed. He maintained his position that we would be charged for a service call, if the problem was not related to the recent installation. I then called Jerry and told him about the issue. He was at my house within 20 minutes. He resolved the issue with the garage door and said that the issue was related to the installation. Jerry was wonderful! Considering the treatment that I received from employee at the office/show room I won't use Berry Door in the future.
Description of Work: Jerry, the salesman for our area, came to the house and gave us a bid. He seemed very knowledgeable, with 30+ years of experience. They required a 50% deposit to order the doors. It took about 3 weeks for them to receive the new garage doors so that we could schedule installation. The installation went smoothly. It took about 3 hours for two guys to install two new garage doors. The installers have also worked for Berry Door for many years. The doors came with a ltd. life rust thru, 3 yrs. parts, & 1 year labor warranty. Hopefully, we won't need to worry about any of those issues. Bottom line, we love our new garage doors!

Very Professional. Jerry provided the estimate and explained the type of door I ordered. On 7/9, Kyle the installer, arrived on time. He was very neat and cleaned up after the job. He did a very nice job on the installation. He explained the operation of the door, the locks and closer devices. We are very happy with the door!

We chose Barry over another because the window was better ( although a.bit more expensive) The four installers showed up on time on the date I chose. They went to work on the jobs immediately, each man to his own job. I had the furniture out of the way inside and the shrubs outside as the contract said. They not only installed the windows but covered the entire window frame to the house frame (vinyl & brick) with aluminum be-fabricated by one of the men. The finished product was first rate. They finished all of the windows except for three unusually difficult, left for the following day. They took a half hour for lunch and no breaks ,although justly deserved. . They actually did almost all of the molding and the caulking the following day. Two of the older men (30's and 40's) did the molding and caulking, One of them was a caulk perfectionist, which I appreciated. One slight error on their part, was a window that should have been ordered tempered, had not been. Had to be tempered, obviously, but had been overlooked. The others had to be tempered and were(i.e. over the tub). The salesman, who was extremely nice and professional all the way through, called a couple of days later and had it re-ordered. When it came in, would be installed. I was looking for disappointment some people had experienced, but had nothing but satisfaction and appreciation. They cleaning up after themselves, picked up after themselves, and left behind a class A job.

Bernie was very professional and arrived early for our appointment. The materials were very well organized, well explained and I appreciated that time that Bernie spent with me reviewing my options. He was easy to schedule with and prompt in providing a quote via email. Unfortunately the quote and product are too high end for my budget, however I will keep them in mind if I upgrade houses in the future. I would have liked to use their service because they were so easy to work with and professional. My house is older and everything must be done as custom work which increases the prices dramatically. Thank you for your help Berry Door and Window, I will keep your services in mind for the future.

sales person was very friendly and prompt. no pricing on any of the items you pick out for installing a door (and there are a lot of items), so even though we wanted to go simple, we had no idea if what we were selecting was on the expensive side. Got the estimate days later and no real detailed break down of all of the items, just a $3000 estimate for a very simple door. maybe shooting in the dark is the norm for these kind of purchases, but we weren't comfortable buying like that.

I contacted Berry Door in June of 2013 to install three pre-hung interior doors. Signed the contract on June 20th, at which time the sales associate told me they were very busy and to expect about a six week wait time. Six weeks came and went and never heard from anyone. I called the office and inquired about the install date, and they related that there would be another delay due to some ordering issues with the manufacturer, and said it would be about another six weeks! Another six weeks passed and they scheduled the install. A couple of guys show up with the doors and the trim is wrong. They gave me the option of installing the doors with the wrong trim that morning, and then coming back later to replace the trim with the correct style---or waiting another 4 - 6 weeks to have them installed with the correct trim. I opted for the later. Finally, in late October the doors were installed. The guys doing the install were very professional, worked quickly, and cleaned up their work area. I was satisfied with the quality of the doors and the install. However, these are your basic, 6-panel hollow-core doors that you find in nearly all new construction so you should expect a quality job, especially when the cost is nearly $1,200. I am giving Berry Door a "D" for Responsiveness because at no time were they pro-active in handling the delays. I had to call them every time they missed a dead-line to inquire about my order. I am giving them an "F" for Punctuality for the extended delays. It should not take 16 weeks to install 3 basic interior doors. I would also like to note that this was the second time I used Berry Door. I purchased an exterior door from them in 2011, which after about a year the latch no longer worked and the door does not catch. That door cost $1,661.

Called company twice and did not receive a return call from the salesman. Tried again and a salesman called to set up an appointment. I used Berry Door because I had been a customer for approximately twenty years. I had purchased two garage doors from Berry and had the doors serviced by Berry over the years. Meeting with the salesman proceeded as expected. I ordered two doors to be delivered in October. I signed a contract for the doors. One of the doors was received with damage and the installation date was changed to November 14, 2013. After the doors were installed, I noticed the locking mechanism didn't go all the way in. I called my locksmith who said the lock had been installed incorrectly and the door could have been opened with a screw driver. Also, where the lock had been installed were cracks in the door. The second page of my contract was missing. I asked the company to send me a copy in November. I haven't received a copy of the contract I signed. My problem is with the location of the peephole. It is visually unacceptable. I am 4'10" and even I have to stoop down to use it. The location is in the top panel below a glass insert midway between the glass and the bottom of the top panel. Someone from the company came out to look at the door. He said the company had questioned the salesman about the peephole location and the salesman assured the shop it was correct. No one contacted me at that time. The representative said the cracks could be fixed, I had paid my locksmith to reinstall the lock, and the only problem remaining was the peephole. The proposed solution was to cover it with a door knocker. The company was planning to use the hole for the existing peephole as one of the mounting holes for a door knocker and to drill another hole The representative told me if I didn't like it, perhaps they would cut me a new slab. When the service person came to install the door knocker, he was planning to cover the peephole with a large washer on the inside of the door and I told him that was unacceptable. The technician became belligerent and yelled at me for 15 minutes. He said if I didn't accept the solution, I would get several phone calls from the salesman and the main office. He also accused the locksmith of damaging the door. He repeated the same information several times asking me if I were sure I wouldn't accept covering the peephole with a washer. He repeated the questions and threats in a rude manner. No one contacted me. I called the salesman who apologized for the technician's attitude. The salesman told me the company would not replace the door. Since I paid cash for the doors, I feel I have no recourse but other consumers should be aware of the company's attitude toward a long-standing customer. I would use a credit card in the future for added protection.

Response from Berry Door & Window
We appreciate the continued patronage to Berry Door & Window. We are terribly sorry for the troubles and will continue to make all reasonable efforts to accommodate this request. I am replying to this situation as an owner of the company and assure that I personally make our customer satisfaction a top priority. I spoke with all parties involved at the office and am up to speed on all topics. This review touched upon a number of items and I would like to address each of them as requested. Also, I remain available to discuss any of these items in further detail at any time. Of most concern to me is the comment regarding the dialogue with our technician. We conduct thorough training with our representatives to ensure that they are courteous and professional regardless of the situation. I spoke at length with the technician in question, and he assures me that he never raised his voice or became belligerent. However, the customer is clearly upset about the conversation so I would like to extend our sincerest apologies and would be happy to meet along with the technician onsite to further discuss. It is unfortunate that the door first arrived with damage. While it is rare, there are times when a product is damaged during transit. In such an instance, we stand behind our products 100%, and the door in question was replaced at no cost to customer. This also extends to any defects in the product that occur after installation for specified periods of time, provided the work was not caused by a third party. We also modify our products to meet our customer’s specific requests. Peephole locations are specifically stated in our contracts. The customer mentioned a height concern regarding the location and selected the spot for the peephole on the existing door. This special order measurement was then placed on the contract and accepted with a customer signature. Please note that our contracts are only one page, front and back, to ensure every customer receives a complete contract. Per the request, the peephole was installed 52” from the floor. There are times when a customer special orders a product and then decides that they do not like what was selected. In these instances, we make all reasonable efforts to accommodate, modify, and sometimes replace the part or parts in question. In an effort to address the peephole location, we offered to install a door knocker at no charge, which allows for an upward adjustment on the location of the peephole. It is our understanding that the customer liked the solution offered, but did not like the attachment method. This offer remains should the customer decide to proceed with it. The door was inspected before and after install. There was no evidence of damage during these inspections. Any problems with the lockset were covered by the product warranty, provided that we were notified. We send our employee out to repair and/or replace the part. Any issues that arise to the product as a result of our visit is covered 100% by us. In this case, a third party locksmith modified the lockset and damaged the door. Regardless of the cause, we remain committed to providing our customers with a reasonable solution. We would like to provide our customer the following for consideration. We are willing to provide a new door slab with an adjusted peephole location installed at cost with no markup. If keeping the existing door is preferred, we will provide a door knocker to cover the special ordered peephole at no cost. In addition, we will use our best reasonable efforts to repair any damage caused by the locksmith to the door at no cost. Thank you again for this opportunity to work together through this process.

The new door was installed approximately 2 months after the order was placed. The crew of 3 called ahead to request the appointment be a couple of hours earlier than scheduled which was convenient of us. The deteriorating door and frame were removed and a new frame, sill and fiberglass door with window was installed. We provided a key for other house doors and the new lock was set to use the same key. The color selected for the door and the siding material covering the frame was a close match to the garage siding color. The installation was done efficiently and quickly with a complete clean up. The new door has a high quality feel with tight fitting seals and it swings freely. The 12-volt light above the door was successfully removed for the installation and carefully reinstalled. From our prior experience of purchasing our front entrance door from Berry Door, we did not consider or in vestige other sources. I rated price a "B" because it was higher than I expected but we did not compare prices and we are pleased with the value received.
