We believe this review was left in error as we do not have anyone by that name on our customer list. We will be contacting Angie's List to remove this. If Angie's List will not remove, we will have to take further action to prevent such unfortunate comments from someone who admits they have not used our company to provide any service. Why someone could even leave this comment on Angie's List is beyond our understanding. Anyone can apparently leave false and demeaning comments without Angie's List screening for such abuse.

Description of Work: The owner came by, gave me an estimate. I called a couple of weeks later to schedule a time. was told they would call to make an appointment. Six weeks go by, I get a voicemail at 7am telling me he had a crew available that day. Before I can call to either give the go-ahead or cancel, I hear hammering on my porch. That lasted for several hours, until the owner comes to tell me that they brought the wrong bricks and would be back. They never came back.

They are very thorough. They don't require heavy equipment on the property. They explain everything they are doing and explain it perfectly.
Description of Work: I used All Outdoors for tree services. They trimmed 5 trees and did some repair on the stone steps.
I worked with several landscaping companies to design a complete backyard patio renovation.? We started with an aging wood deck, tiny flagstone patio, and a poorly built pond.? Not to mention many, many feet of pink windsor block that is not our taste.? I shared my wish list with Joe and John from All Outdoors, and they were very honest in their opinions of what could/couldn't be done with our budget and scope of work.? Ultimately, though, their price and design beat all others. We began work in late February (demolition) and continued off and on as weather permitted through early May.? All Outdoors removed the old deck, patio, pond, retaining walls, and quite a bit of concrete/fill.? Somehow they did it without disturbing the rest of the yard.? From there they built it all back from the ground up.? Their crews worked hard, were very courteous, and did high quality work.? John, the project manager and foreman, reviewed progress any time I wanted or when they completed a milestone.? He was always open to feedback, good and bad, to ensure we got what we wanted. The project entailed an upper paver patio with stone stairs to the house, a lower paver patio separated by stone steps, a StoneAge stone firepit and seating wall on the lower patio, and retaining walls around a shed and the upper patio.? We selected materials at Earthworks from a list provided by All Outdoors, and their staff were very helpful in a cold, muddy stoneyard.? We always got samples to take, photos of other projects, and design advice.? I recommend Earthworks as well. All Outdoors finished on time and on budget (I requested one major change, was quoted, and accepted that quote).? I attribute this to ongoing dialog with John and Joe during which time I was told which tasks would be out of scope (and if so, agreed to a change order).? The project is a huge success.? The back of our house is transformed from a tired 1990's DIY project into a huge area for entertaining and enjoying the view.? All Outdoors exceeded my expectations and their team worked well with me to deliver a great patio. As with any big project, homeowners need to get multiple bids, research using Angie's List, and set up regular communication about the ongoing work.? Had John and I not spoken almost daily there would have been a lot of decisions made without my input or his experienced advice.? One final note:? All Outdoors does not have a true landscape designer on staff.? Designs use graph paper, correct measurements, and detailed drawings but it's not rendered on a computer as you see at other firms.? I recommend All Outdoors for hardscaping, pond install, and retaining walls.?

The provider exceeded my expectations. Great care was given in felling the trees as they were all in areas where damage could have been done to houses, landscaping, and fences. The crew did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. The crew bucked the wood into smaller pieces for splitting, and carried it all to one location across my 3/4 acre yard for processing.

They cleaned the area when finished. Joe returned to check on the finished product and promised to return another day in the future to assure that all is well.
Description of Work: Joe arrived at the scheduled time to give us a bid on our retaining wall/landscaping. He drew up the bid with the price of each aspect of the job listed. We ultimately decided a week later to hire him but decided on only doing the wall and not the landscaping. He returned with a two man crew a couple days later and even though the ground was frozen the men did the wall as requested.

The soil was fully tilled and manure mixed in to support the plantings. 12 azaleas were planted and four boxwoods with ground cover planted around a bare tree base. Within a few weeks 11 of the 12 azaleas had died. This despite my daily watering for two weeks, then bi-daily watering per Joseph's instructions. Joseph returned when my wife was home and the 11 dead azaleas were replaced. My wife did not watch how the work being done, and how much supervision was provided (we were not expecting them that day). I had asked to be present as I had wanted to oversee the replanting.. The azaleas were planted in two areas and in one area all survived. In the other area all died but one. My impression was that Joseph was present while the surviving group was planted (they are still doing well), and that he had not been present when the others were planted. This failure of the 4 or 5 plants was reported and Joseph said he would stop by sometime. I did not see him that summer, or since then. Two of the boxwoods died, when Joseph did not return I dug them up and photographed the results. They were root bound. The roots looked as if they had just come out of their planters; the roots were intertwined around each other and not spreading into the surrounding soil. This is the same way the roots of the dead azaleas appeared. I replanted the new boxwoods, did separation of the roots as instructed by the nursery and those two plants have done very well for over 2 years. They look very healthy. Joseph suggested that some tree branches be removed in one area to increase the sunlight for plant growth. A three inch branch was trimmed about 40 inches from the trunk and had no branches growing off of it. Later I had a gum tree removed (damaged by the drought) and both arborists stated that that branch should have been trimmed next to the trunk, and the winning bid corrected that branch. Looking back, I realize that Joseph's landscaping plan was done in a rushed manner giving me little time to review details such as borders. His workers did clean up the site and were hard workers. The initial appearance of the landscaping was satisfactory, but the high death rate of plants made the resulting appearance unsatisfactory.
Description of Work: Joseph arrived promptly and sketched plans on paper for the landscaping the front of my house. There was no color drawings. I was present when the work was started, as scheduled, and ran into problems with the employees not knowing all the details of the job. They asked me questions about the type of border to use and I realized that that had not been discussed. Joseph was called back by the lead worker, who spoke English, the rest spoke Spanish and were hard workers. The border was established, a shovel edging around the plantings in the yard. I was not familiar with this type of edging though it was demonstrated -- it was not a durable solution, especially for the money paid.

Came in early April for an estimate. ?He was friendly and personable, and when we had agreed on what was to be done and a price, he said "A couple of days" and wrote "ASAP" on the proposal. ?I was a little concerned that it all seemed too easy, with him jotting down prices (which were more than reasonable) and sketches off the top of his head. ?He was respectful and seemed to have all the answers and everything was "no problem", in retrospect this actually worried me. ?Nothing is ever that easy, perhaps it was a self-fulling prophecy thing. ?Four weeks later, In early May I called back to ask if they were coming, and it was almost as if I was a bother. ?The weather, the timing, the soil, the rain. ? They couldn't possibly have been expected to do the work before then. ?But there had been no contact. ?It is now June 5 and still no word, no contact, no work done.
Description of Work: A bid for re-landscaping parts of my yard. And that's all they did... provide a bid. I gave the go ahead but 8 weeks later, no results. Approximate cost of service $600.00 estimate.

For the one job that was completed, which took approximately two days, I had no complaints. Joe was here to check on his crew and he made suggestions to me on what would and would not work. He is very personable but I was disappointed in the lack of professionalism and common courtesy.
Description of Work: Joe's company installed decorative bricks around my trees in the front and back yards. That was completed with no incidence. But when I called him back to do more work, he never showed up. When I called him, he said he would be at my house at j10:00 that morning but never showed. I made repeated phone calls and left messages but never got the courtesy of a return phone call. This went on for approximately two weeks and when I finally did reach him, I told him to just send me a bill for the work already performed and to forget the rest of it. I would not recommend this company.

Miserable experience. We were happy with the shrubs, but the sprinkler system was not intalled correctly because the heads were behind the shrubs blocking water from the grass. They also planted the yard in July and I questioned that and they said it wasn't a problem, but everything ended up dying. Also the yard wasn't as level as it should because they didn't use any heavy equipment to level the yard before they planted it. I have since had another company come out to correct my yard.

The crew was hard working and did a very good job cleaning up. They also fixed some lattice work on my deck.
Description of Work: Had one large tree next to the house removed & stump ground out. Also had 3 other trees trimmed. The crew began work on a Friday but was slowed down due to intermittent rain. They came back on Saturday and finished the job. Of the 3 companies who bid this job, he was the only one who waited for me to get home to discuss what needed to be done. Others came by when I was not home. One company's rep even came by early even though we had specified a time when I would meet him at the house. Ask for a copy of liability insurance certificate.

We were satisfied with weeding and bed clean-up, tree maintenance, and tuckpointing. We were less satisfied with the removal of tie walls and the subsequent replacement. The project was performed in June 2006, which was hot and dry. We asked Mr Duever prior to beginning the project, if it was prudent to lay sod in a sun exposed area during hot, dry weather. My Duever assured us, it would be fine and that he would personally water and watch the sod, to ensure that it thrived. The company had to wait for sod, so the date for installation kept changing. When Mr. Duever called us, to tell us that the sod would be delivered, it happened that we were leaving on vacation for ten days. We asked that they wait to install it. Long story long, the sod was installed while we were out of town and it died. My husband has called Mr Duever several times to have him replace the sod. Six months later and five thousand dollars over the original bid, we have a huge eye sore on the side of our home.
Description of Work: Removed rotting railroad ties in two areas. In one area the railroad tie beds were replaced with sod and in another area the railroad tie steps and walls were replaced using landscaping ''bricks'' and/or pavers. The company also, provided general weeding and bed clean up throughout the yard, tree pruning, and tuckpointing on our chimney.
