Cedar Hill Fence & Deck

Under no circumstances ever hire this company. They were not licensed in our area, and held onto my deposit for months and months, even after agreeing to refund my money following a BBB complaint I opened. I did get my money back eventually, but it was a stressful and drawn out experience. My advice if you have a problem with these guys, go see a lawyer right away. Don't wait around for them to do the right thing, like I did.

2 men and 18 work days and deck is still incomplete. Workmen show up late morning and leave early afternoon. Was promised that men would work every weekday until finished, but there were periods where they did not show up for as many as 5 workdays. Stairs were built incorrectly with 7.5 inch deep trends but plans called for 12 inch trends and building code requires at least 11 inches. For that reason, it failed inspection. So, thay came back and tried to recut the same stringers to make it work and finally realized it would not so cut new stringers. New stairs now installed to plans but now concrete pad is too short. Handrails have not yet been reinstalled and no one has been back since last week. Multiple emails to owner with no response. However, just received a bill for balance on completed deck! Accountant apologized but her file states it was completed. She asked what needed to be done still and was very helpful in offering to help in any way she could. Still have not heard back from owner, 5 emails in past week and no response. Some other issues were the ballusters were cut wrong twice, the support posts are off center on the piers, splits in the toprails and trends because they would not predrill for the screws.

I will start off by saying that the workers building the deck were professional and knew what they were doing, though took many weeks. The real problem with this company started with their inacurate start time frame they provided they stated four weeks out till they could start. It took four months to get the deck completed. Further problems were incountered with communications with the office they would continue to come up with excusses why the deck was not started and would Never provide a start date. Just an overall terrible expeirence, no customer service. I wish I would have read more reviews on this company I would have saved myself alot of headache.

the salesman did a poor job measuring the total job. I had to get this guy to re-measure as he scribbled the draft of the job on a piece of paper and couldn't remember what he did. The install went ok, but had problems with the fence to include gate problems and getting a final receipt from this guy. Once they get your money, they are very slow to respond for repairs. they claim to have a warranty but fail to put it down on paper. you're better off just hiring another fence company to do any repairs. Beware of dealing with companies from another state. I live in IL and they are based out of MO. I guess the trip to come out here was too much. they had no problem taking my money though and installing the fence, but customer care is non-existant. they do not respond to emails and will not return phone calls. I had to submit a BBB complaint to get what I wanted done. They finally responded with mailing final receipt, but never the warranty parameters... be sure to get all your receipts and any warranty in writing before you pay final payment. Bottom line is you shouldn't have to resort to filing a BBB complaint. Its about integrity in your service. Stand by your service and treat your customers with respect as they give you their hard earned money. Im still having gate problems today. I do not recommend this company.
