It was an extremely pleasant experience. I contacted them on a Friday as advised by Goodman distributor. He responded instantly, came to home, assessed our situation and we had a new unit installed by next Tuesday. Minimal interruption to our busy schedules and trusted them enough to let them in our home without our presence 2 days in a row.
Description of Work: Replaced heat pump and air handler that was dysfunctional. Installed Goodman products. Very trustworthy individual (Andrew Colgin). I felt comfortable with this tradesman from the word Hello.

I don't normally leave reviews but this is one I'm happy to write. I am so happy with the work that Andrew did for us that it's hard to even find the right superlatives to use since and quot;superand quot;, and quot;fantasticand quot;, and quot;excellentand quot;, and quot;phenomenaland quot;, and and quot;awesomeand quot; just don't seem to sufficiently express how I feel about the job he and his crew did. I knew when hiring a contractor that there's a wide range of service, talent, and prices out there, so I started off by calling nine different contractors (recommended from friends and family and out of the phone book) and winnowed them down to the one who I thought was the most experienced, honest, wasn't going to try to sell me stuff I didn't need, knew what they were doing, would get the work done properly and quickly, clean up after themselves, etc.). I knew very little about HVAC so a lot of this was a learning process for me (especially since I was switching over from a heat pump to a gas/electric unit). It was really important that I find a contractor who was honest and credible and knew what they were doing and wasn't going to try and snow me and charge me an arm and a leg too since I knew so little about what I was going to have done and was ripe for the taking. On top of that, I'm a perfectionist, a little obsessive-compulsive, and am not an easy customer to please. A couple other contractors who I had out to give me quotes were less expensive, but I really didn't think they knew what they were doing, and for some reason wanted to replace my heat pump with another heat pump (probably because that would have been easier to do), which is not what I wanted. Some I just didn't trust too. Since an HVAC unit is something you have for a long time, I wanted to feel comfortable that, should I have a problem with it, they'd stand behind their work too, and going with the cheapest person you can find is not necessarily advisable in this situation. Most others were higher than Colgin's though and in some cases a LOT higher. So in the end I feel that the price we paid was extremely reasonable, particularly for what we had done and especially for the incessant questions I had for Andrew before and during the job that I know had to take up a lot of his time. After I had everyone out to give me quotes and I narrowed down who I was considering, I then did several hours of research online looking for anything I could find about the contractors I was considering before deciding on Colgin's. Anyway I knew I had an undersized unit for the house, and it needed to be replaced since it was having grievous problems, leaking compressor fluid, costing us an absolute fortune to run, and was past its life span anyway. Andrew listened to me and didn't try to sell me something I didn't want like some of the other contractors did. We wanted to change over from an electric heat pump to a high-efficiency gas packaged unit (two-stage gas furnace with electric central air conditioning in one outside unit). But we didn't have gas here though, so we had to have the gas company come out and install a new gas line. Andrew worked with the gas company and everything went seamlessly getting the gas line put in too. We also had a low air flow problem which was going to require adding a new air return and two new vents in the house. And because the unit is outside, I knew that we were losing some heating and cooling because the ducts going in to the house from the outside were uninsulated. This is something I at least did know myself beforehand, and was something I wanted to see if anyone would address about what we needed to have done. Out of everyone I had out to give me quotes, Andrew was the only one to point out this problem and said we were losing about a half ton of cooling power. So I knew he was astute and perspicacious. To correct this he suggested we add a and quot;doghouseand quot; which is insulating the ducts going from the outside unit into the house and making a custom metal box which surrounds them and then packing it full of insulation. This custom metal work is where one can tell how talented Andrew is and what a perfectionist he is. Andrew took care of everything and is prompt, efficient, intelligent, professional, experienced, talented, cleaned up when he was done, did everything perfectly like how I would have done it (assuming I could actually do this type of work!), got the job done quickly, kept us within our budget, didn't add on a bunch of charges in the end, and there's literally nothing I can criticize about him or the work he did. He's quite talented when it comes to custom metal and duct work too. And I don't want to forget his assistants either. They too were courteous, professional, worked quickly, were easy to work around, and did a lot of really hard work that I'd never want to have to do. Now that everything's done it all looks ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and I literally could not be any happier!! The job Colgin's did was absolutely stellar and I've never seen a contractor do anything as outstanding as what Colgin's did on our HVAC system. The level of detail he did was simply amazing and I am extremely impressed with his attention to detail and perfectionism, even for an obsessive perfectionist like me. I'm very happy with the new unit he picked for us too... it's so quiet that we literally cannot hear it running and don't even know when it's on. With the old unit, you could hear the heat pump running outside from one bedroom and also the filter in the hall sucking air in. The heat it put out wasn't warm and the house never really felt like it warmed up when it was on. With the new unit he chose for us, it puts out wonderfully warm, toasty heat and the difference is really amazing. We don't wake up with out bones hurting in the morning now. The new unit will be much cheaper to run and save us a lot of money on energy costs too. Andrew even found us a rebate and tax write-off for the unit we got that I wasn't even aware of. This was an added bonus I wasn't even expecting and am obviously very appreciative for this. I am SO HAPPY I chose him to do the work we needed and WILL GLADLY recommend him to everyone I know!
Description of Work: Installed new 3.5 ton gas packaged unit (gas furnace & central air conditioner); added two new floor vents; added new air return filter box in closet & grill; custom made new "doghouse" to insulate ductwork between house and outside unit.

Provider did not install the unit in time frame promised. In addition, did not do some of the work agreed to in the contract and had to come back. The unit ran loud and after coming back once to fix it (with no results) he told us it was the defrost cycle. When I informed him it was not the defrost making the noise, he got mad and hung up on me. Do not use this business!

It went wonderfully. We called Andrew because our Air Conditioner froze. He came out and found that it was 40% low on gas. He came out again in a few months as it was acting up again. This time it was low on gas and another part was bad . Since it kept losing gas even with the fixing of that problem it would need a lot of servicing. Since the Air conditioner and Furnace were 17 years old we decided that it would be better to have them both replaced. Andrew did not put any pressure on us, it was all our idea. The units had to be ordered and since it took a little while to do that and our unit was losing gas at an accelerated rate, he come out twice to fill us up and did not charge us. It was a lot cheaper to replace our very old units with new ones and now we are worry free. Our new units are working very well. I would recommend Andrew to anyone without reservations. ..

He came the next day at the time he said he would. Rather than try and talk us into a new expensive air conditioner, he filled ours and said that he would keep track and if we weren't loosing a lot of gas in the years ahead, there would be no problem.
Description of Work: Our air - conditioning kept freezing up.
