Horrific! I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: We were referred to this company by a friend who had only heard of Squeaky Clean from someone else, but we were in a time crunch for post-construction clean up and needed the job done right away, so I called the owner, Judy Steck . We had a house fire over a year ago and are just now getting close to moving back in. I met with Mrs. Steck to go over what we wanted done. I felt confidant in telling her that we needed the entire interior wiped down, walls, baseboards, window casings/sills, garage and appliances cleaned. Windows were not included because I had already scheduled another company for that. After several days, I emailed her and asked if she had an estimate ready for us. She said that she did and would email it to me shortly. Her estimate was for $2000. Here it is: On May 8, 2012, at 9:35 AM, judy steck <jsteck1222@hotmail.com> wrote: Sherry, Here is the bid to do the construction clean up. There is so much to list I am going to break it down has simple as I can.Inside of home square feet: 7000, All kitchen cabinets inside and out. Clean inside/out oven, gas top. Base broads through out home, Window blinds, wipe down all doors. All ceiling lights and light switches, Bathroom cabinets, shower/tubs, toilets, sinks. Vacuum/Mop all floors, stairs, Iron rails (staircase). Bookshelves through out. Laundry room, Wipe down all wood work in home. Outside clean all outside furniture with soapy water. Sweep out garage and clean base broads and walls. This interior cleaning should take us 5 days to complete. Cost $ 2000.00 due upon completion. Thank You, Judy SteckSCCS,LLC.573-579-8605 We agreed and asked when she could start. To make a really long story short, we were out of town and received an email update form Mrs. Steck on their progress. She began to tell me that they had cleaned all of the windows on the first floor and basement, with the exception of the two large windows on the front of the house. I told her that they were not suppose to do the windows because I had already scheduled another company to do them (one who I have used for the last four years) and the windows were not included in their bid anyway, therefore they would not be paid for them. At that point, she tried to tell me that I never told her that. That I had said they could do the interior of the windows, but I had someone to do the exterior. After pushing back, she said that she would just have to "eat" that cost due to the miscommunication. Big red flag! It was never in her estimate, therefore she knew it was not our original agreement. After that issue, we had our tile restoration company tell us that we should NOT have our travertine floors mopped. I immediately sent Mrs. Steck an email telling her to not mop any of the tile. She acknowledged my email and said they would not. When we got back into town, we went by our house and got our mail. We had received the final bill from Squeaky Clean. It was for $2000. I emailed Mrs. Steck and told her that I had expected her to make an adjustment for not having to mop 3500 square feet of travertine tile. She said that she had planned on taking it off after the final cleaning (another $250) once we were ready to move back in. The amount of the credit was $50. I told her that was way off base. I also told her that I had been mopping our floors for the last 6 years and it took me an entire day. At that point my husband and I wanted a detailed statement of where the other $1950 went to. We wanted it broken down by time and task. We received an extremely unprofessional response with typos and attitude. Please note that she sent this email to MY email address, but never addressed it to me, but to my husband. She then basically called me a liar and said that I never told her to not do the windows, that I had said it didn't matter what her price was because insurance was paying for it, and that she was sorry it took me an entire day to mop our floors when her team could knock it out in 30 minutes. This is her email below: Hi Rex,I bid all my jobs on the basis on the amount of timeand how many employees I bring in to completethe task.I have very quick and efficient workers and I'm sorry that it takes you all day to mop your tile floors.I had a total of six employees on your home.As far as the windows there is obliviously a miscommunication between me and Sherry,I told Sherry I would clean the interior side of the windows only and not the exterior side of them. Sherry said that was fine and she would hire or already had somebody elseto do the exteriors. As far as not seeing myself and my employees, we completed theinterior of the home while you and your wife were on vacation in Colorado and I email on a consisted basis, the progress on the home to Sherry. As far as the $50.00 deduct, myself and my 6 employees wouldof had your tile floors knocked out in about 30 minutes tops.Sherry also said to me it didn't matter what my charge was( eventhough I gave you and her a fair market bid on your home) becausethe insurance company was paying for it.I feel like you are offending me due to the fact that you were not present during the initial walk thru and conversation. Now that payment is over due there is some problemwith a credit that I'm giving you!I really don't understand this and never have had this happenbefore when I give credits to customers. What is a good time to stop by and pick my check up tomorrow? Thank youJudy Steck At this point I had to remove myself from the situation. I sent Mrs. Steck an email to tell her that her services were no longer needed and that my husband would be in touch to set up a walk thru and make payment. The payment was not overdue. We called her within 12 hours of returning home and getting the final bill. My husband said that he would meet her AND her husband at our home at noon. She said that he would be there and then was showing up with only her business partner. When telling her we would need to reschedule unless her husband was there, he showed up 15 minutes later. They all arrived and Mr. Steck proceeded to tell my husband how his wife really didn't want the job to start with, that I had told them to do the windows, charge whatever they wanted, etc. My husband was very calm and reasonable and told mr. Steck that he was not going down that road with him. At that point Mr. Steck stomped off, jumped in his truck and peeled out of our driveway. Mrs. Steck told my husband that she knew it was a bad idea for Mr. Steck to be present because of his bad temper. We gave Mrs. Steck one last chance. We asked her, "So, what do you think is a fair amount for the work that Squeaky Clean did?' She said $1925.00. "We weren't able to clean the foyer light because the switch didn't work." We were never trying to NOT pay Squeaky Clean for their services, even though they were not very good. We wanted to understand what the other $1950 was for. No windows or floors. In the end, they couldn't tell us... but we paid them anyway. Some people just run a business to take advantage and don't do the right thing. In our opinion... this is one of those businesses and I would highly recommend that you steer clear of them!
