They didn't do what they said they were going to do and didn't finish the job. I think he was upset because I didn't pick the color he wanted. We have a colonial style and I wanted white. He wanted tan or brown. He seemed to lose interest when I didn't choose the color he wanted. Then, it took forever to get the job done. He left some siding off and didn't do the painting he said he was going to do. I had it in writing. I took the paper in to him to show him what he agreed upon. He went into another room and said he was going 'to check something out.' Then, when he came back the details had changed.

I hired HCS Construction to fix the flashing on my chimney (I was having some moisture issues with the chimney; turned out to be a different issue, but I wanted to get the flashing replaced to eliminate that as a potential problem). They also talked me into getting a roof-over on my addition that was pooling water and leaking in one spot. The one wet spot on the ceiling of our addition was moist after every rain. Less than one year after the roof over went on we now have nine wet spots on the ceiling of the addition. I emailed and called HCS Construction to let them know that I was not happy with the job that they did. They said they would come out and check out the flashing (the spots appeared at the junction of the addition and the main house). They never came out, as far as I can tell, nor ever contacted me again. Thus, I went from having one wet spot to nine. After talking to the secretary on numerous occasions, I finally left a message that if I was not contacted by September 1 I would be reporting my experience on Angie's List. Well, September 1 came and went and I never heard from HCS. I would strongly discourage anyone looking for a contractor to hire HCS. They do not do a quality job, they do not back up their work, and they ignore you when you call with problems.

Carpet, tile and refinished wood floors look very good. The owner came to the worksite and inspected and made a list of items I was not happy with and felt needed to be redone, after the job was completed. HCS did come back and redo the items I was not happy with this week. All of the work has now been completed and I am happy with the work they now have finished. I did not think they would return to fix a few problem areas since I finished paying them in full, but they did come back and finish. It did take them some time to return, but they did return, as promised. Overall, I am now happy with their job. My only complaint would be that it took longer than I believe it should have taken them to complete the jobs. The work started the end of February and on Sept 20, 2013 they have now completed everything. I will say that their paperwork for their price quotes are the best I have seen. They are very detailed. The foreman was very pleasant and very nice. As in all construction jobs, there were a few bumps, but they did complete all the promised work and the price was what they quoted. The only suggestion I would have is that they pay a little more attention to detail, but when it was pointed out to them, it was corrected.

Crooked gutter replacement, and damaged drip edge ("It was that way before.") Mismatched shingle color due to not having enough in the first delivery. Contractor implied that my full deductible would probably not be needed, then the total price jumped by $1,000 for unknown reasons and I had to pay the full $500.00. I could have had a licensed local builder that was doing a house behind me do the job cheaper, and at least I could have been able to get some answers from him.

Original estimate $4800, builder forwarded $5900 claim to insurance. Neve told why. If you are going to do a roof job, make sure that you have all the shingles you need. The next order had slightly different color. Gutter contractor mashed up the drip edge, then said "thats the way ot was before". I had cheaper estimates, maybe should have used one of them?

They did a very good estimate with pictures and things along those lines and completed the work in a timely manner.
