Description of Work: We were left in a bad position by a previous local contractor. Ken immediately responded to our call for help and has continued to impress us since our first meeting. Our project is not complete yet but it is so much better than we had originally planned. His crew is phenomenal! Hard working, polite, professional and ready to suggest ideas to improve the project. We would highly recommend them.

Came prepared and cleaned up afterwards. Stayed until work was done. They did light preparation including removal of old screens and replacing rotten rails. Unfortunately they missed a spot behind the rails, readily visible from the outside. It was primed, but not top coated. Overall a good job ata reasonable price.

Last year they added a very large addition and new deck to our house. We have been delighted with their work and when we decided to enclose part of the deck as a screened porch I immediately called Ken's firm. As before, he made an appointment very soon after, came over, and we discussed the plans. He had many good ideas, and got me an estimate as soon as possible. It was very reasonable and a week or so later his crew arrived. They did excellent work, and were prompt and courteous. It took three days to build the frame, install the metal roof and ceiling, and run the wiring for a light. We did the staining and built the screens, which saved us over $700 off Ken's original estimate that included a fancy screen system. When the job was done, Ken personally came with a helper and cleaned up every scrap of lumber and metal. I wrote a very favorable review last year, and this year's much smaller project confirmed my belief that Constructor Plus is probably the best contractor at the lake. I would call him again for any job large or small.
Description of Work: Ken and crew added a roof and supporting structure to the deck they had built for us last year. We provided the screens for a screened porch.

We were having this work done while we were out of the county but did hire a family friend that has a lot of experience in construction coming over to the house daily to check on it since we were having other work by other contractors being performed at the same time. The tile they laid down was so uneven that there were "trippers" all over the floor. There were variances from 1/8 up to 1/4 of an inch high. We were able to stop them before the tile was grouted. When confronting the owner Ken he stated that yes it was installed improperly and he would not be satisfied if it was in his house. He stated that it needed to be fixed but his guys would not be able to do it nor did he have the money to pay someone else to fix it properly. He stated that he has no money to pay his men and he is in bankruptcy. He stated he cannot and will not correct this job. He stated he would not refund the 5,000.00 we gave him as down payment on the job. He then walked out of the house. We are stuck with 2/3 of the tile laid, we have so many pieces that need to be pulled up (which will most likely cause them to crack and no longer be able to be used) , We still have to have the floor fixed by someone and we will be stuck buying more tiles because of all of his mistakes! To top off all of the troubles, when Ken's workers were tearing up the old tile they did not seal off areas of the house to prevent the dust from going everywhere. Too add injury to insult while they had the house torn up with dust going everywhere they turned on the heat and spread 1/2 thick dust and dirt to every inch of the house! To all 5,000 square feet of house. Every inch, every cabinet, every stitch of linen and all of our clothing is covered!!! This is the biggest mess that I have ever seen. This will cost an extra 2,000 dollars to have all ducts and vents cleaned along with both furnaces, not to mention the days of cleaning to rid the house of the dust. DO NOT EVER HIRE THIS COMPANY OR ANY OTHER COMPANY THEY MAY CHANGE THEIR NAME TO! Shame on you Ken and Cynthia for leaving us in this mess and walking away!!
Description of Work: We had found our dream tile , and imported Italian tile that was very expensive and had it shipped in to the cost of 11,000. We then contacted Ken and received his bid. We decided to go with him after all of his assurances it would look great and that his tile guy had 20 plus years experience in tiling. We saw that he had an A rating with Angie's List and we had met with him several times along with his lead tiler. We gave him the down payment and then proceeded to have him tear up the existing floor and lay the tile we had purchased.

Response from Contractor Plus LLC
We deeply regret not being able to satisfy this customer. It is always our goal to fully meet our customer's needs. This project consisted of removing existing tile and substrate in the customer's lake home and then installing customer supplied tile in a complex pattern. The customer chose to not wait for the correct sized tiles to be shipped and requested that we cut larger tiles down. I thoroughly explained to the customer this could create sharp edges. The tile while beautiful and expensive varied more than 1/8" in thickness. We installed the tile and with the exception of a handful of places we had identified as needing attention the project looked great. The second portion of the customer's complaint regarding dust, is largely unfounded. Yes we created dust in our process. We had the owner move their delicate and valuable things to other areas. We covered the sofa etc and then spent hours cleaning up. What hasn't been said is that while we were doing our part, approx. 6 other contractors were demoing a rock fireplace, removing flooring and wall tile, installing tile, backsplash and sanding cabinets inside the home; all without any form of dust control. We cleaned up after ourselves and if we had been allowed to finish the project we would have totally cleaned our dust. When the owner returned I was given only two options; 1. give her $23000 to $25000 and remove all we did.or 2. guarantee she would be happy. Those options were not acceptable and I could not reason with her. The house has full time video surveillance and if someone would take the time to review all the tapes it will uphold what we believe to be true. The only resolution which seems viable is the following: The customer admits 2/3 of the tile is done. All the removal and backer board has been completed. We received one half of the money for the project and have expended all of that (and more) on materials, costs and wages for the project. We no longer trust this customer and will step away allowing them to complete the remaining 25% with someone of their choosing.

We bought a Decagon house that had not been taken care of and had termite and water damage under the house. Ken and his team came out and addressed the situation. We were completely impressed with the cement post bases they poured and the 13 new support bases they installed. The chimney when installed had not been flashed appropriately so they tore out the roof area and replaced down to the roof board, flashed and shingled. The house is now is excellent condition and we are very excited for summer. Ken is extremely professional but also takes a lot of pride in his work! We have plans for additional decking and railing around our retaining wall...we will be calling Ken and his team again!!!
Description of Work: Repaired roof around chimney. Repaired/reconfigured 13 posts, installing piers and cement post bases under residence. Leveled House. Replaced rotten rim joist at front door. Removed a section of the deck and replaced with new treated wood. Removed old antenna. Installed 4 parking bumpers.

This experience was good at the start of the project and then the builder did concrete work and charged us extra for hitting rock which we paid, and they never hauled away the rock that was dug up. Instead the builder left a huge rock cliff right in the front of my house which later collapsed and injured my child. I tried calling and communicating with the builder several times regarding the issue but the builder refused to compromise to remove the rocks. They also left an exposed electrical wire that they dug up during the construction and refused to come back to burry the line. Now the line is exposed in the huge rock pile causing yet another huge safety issue for my family. I again contacted the builder several times via email and offered a cost effective solution to remove the rock where I would pay for half of the removal yet still no response from the builder. This builder requires you to pay all the money in advance before they finish the job and then does not stand behind their work and runs off with your money without full completion of the job. Stay away from this builder. I am forwarding this Info to my attorney for further follow up as well as restitution for the extra money I had to pay to remove the rock cliff and burry my electrical line.

The contracting firm Contracting Plus has just finished a major addition of a great room, deck, and wheel-chair ramp to our home. Owners Ken and Cindy Kubalek were outstanding in every aspect of this job, from initial planning through ordering and timely delivery of materials, construction, accounting, and final wrap-up. When we first discussed the addition, Ken and Cindy knew exactly what questions to ask to help us refine our plans, then gave us a very timely quote which was reasonable without cutting any corners. The survey and zoning inspection revealed problems with our initial plans, but Ken immediately suggested alternatives to obtain what we wanted?a problem-solving skill that came up several times during the project. He knows his job thoroughly, and is attentive to every detail. When the job began in mid-January, Ken and his crew worked through cold and some bad weather to get the supports and framing up in a very short time?about ten days. Yet every step, from the concrete piers to the framing was extremely solid. Ken?s philosophy is to overbuild when in doubt, because he wants his work to last! Every aspect of this job, from the fireplace, heating and cooling, interior finish work, and exterior appearance attests to the extremely high quality of their work. The most important quality of Contracting Plus is reliability. In addition to Ken and Cindy, who were always prompt in responding to any requests we made, every member of their crew was on the job, on time, and working hard all day. We had heard horror stories of construction companies that would not show up for days, or whose workers would fail to appear. Indeed, it was comments from others on Angie?s List about their reliability that led us to Contracting Plus. We and our neighbors were very impressed that the work never stopped, that the workers were so motivated and excellent at their jobs, and that they seemed to enjoy working together and for Ken. Further, the crew was unfailingly polite, willing to answer any questions, and tried to respect our privacy even when working inside our house. Efficiency is another trait of the Kubalek company. Cindy has made a science of ordering delivery of materials so that they arrive exactly when needed. Ken worked with his overseer, Cary Seddon, to plan each day?s work so that each member of the crew wasted no time. The only delay was caused by the two blizzards in February that prevented their HVAC subcontractor from making final connections?there were no delays in work by Contracting Plus and Cary was on the job even on the worst snow days. Inevitably plans evolved as we went along, and Ken and Cindy were happy to help us make decisions, get quotes for unanticipated changes, and quickly resolve all problems very professionally. We are delighted with every aspect of our new room and deck. Contracting Plus is an excellent company and deserves the very highest recommendation!
Description of Work: Contracting Plus added a large (18'x26') great room to the lake side of our house, built a new deck that tied in with parts of the old deck, and added a handicapped ramp from the deck to the back yard of the house. The work was done beginning mid-January, so there were some bad weather days and two major snow storms but that did not slow down the addition. The great room included a fire place which they installed and tiled, solid oak flooring, and solid oak woodwork. The workers were excellent, materials top quality, and we are delighted with every aspect of our experience. The original home is a manufactured one with some non-standard features (such as ductwork) which presented challenges which they resolved very well.
Ken is very professional, if anyone has tried to get a contractor in Lebanon you know how flaky they can be, of the one's I contacted if they answered the phone they acted like they could care less if they had any business and if they made an appointment the failed to show. Not Ken, he came when he said he would and his guys finished the job on time and did a quality job, in fact it was significantly above average workmanship. I would recommend Ken and his guys, actually I am planning a remodel and I am having Ken do it!
Description of Work: Had Contracting plus finish some sheet rock, lay down an engineered wood floor and do some repair on the floor joists under the house.

Contracting Plus did a terrific job for me. The problem around the Lake of the Ozarks is finding someone who actually seems to want to work. Ken responded positively to my initial call and met me at the house at the time he said he would. He carefully reviewed my plans and offered suggestions to improve the job. For example we wanted to new windows and when I complained about how much window you lose with replacements he suggested new construction windows instead since the house was to be resided. I initially wanted a particular style siding and rather than just going with that he investigated and showed me how much more that would cost me then another acceptable solution. Later we had another meeting (which he was on time for) to cover the estimate and he was very thorough in covering the details and explaining the costs. I did not get another estimate for the whole job because I had some estimates for all the parts of the job and his total seemed reasonable. When the job finally started his crew was prompt and worked hard. This is my vacation home and I could not be in the area except for a check every couple of weeks. My neighbors kept track of the job and the crew and were extremely complimentary about how they worked and conducted themselves. Polite, considerate and respectful. Ken kept me informed by sending pictures of what was done and showed how things were going. When there were questions on how something was to be done, Ken made sure I understood and suggested good options. The finished job is just terrific looking. My neighbors were sending me pictures complementing the job and the rate at which it was done. The crew cleaned up the area about as well as they could considering how much was hidden under the leaves! When it was all done Ken and I went over the job and made sure it was up to my standards and several small things were fixed without any complaint or pushback. YES I would use Contracting Plus again and suggest them to anybody.
Description of Work: Contracting Plus replaced my windows with new construction windows then put vinyl siding over my old siding.
