Above the Rest

I had an appointment on July 1st. Shawn Ward sent an email the night before to let me know that he would not be able to make it. I responded to his message asking why he had scheduled me if he had another appointment in Downers Grove and knew he would not be able to get to me. He called me the next morning saying that he would go ahead and send someone over. I had decided I wasn't going to use his service. I called Angie's List and asked for another vendor. Because I did not go along with his flimsy excuse he sent me a nasty email response.

It went great. Email notice that they were on the way. Met at the door with introductions and business cards. Overall discussion on the work that would be done. Work was completed quickly and professionally. Workers were friendly and got to work quickly.

Pretty good job though some screens were replaced backwards or upside down.

Shawn showed up and wanted to check out the windows, to advise his personnel. Shoes were removed before entering the house. The windows were cleaned, very good job.

After a few missed dates, due to weather mostly, we were finally able to make this happen. Shawn the owner, wasn't able to come along, but 2 of his employees, Charles & Lorenzo, came (early actually) ready to work. We've used Above the Rest once before, and Charles was also here on the previous occasion. Excellent then, excellent now. He's really efficient and works in a timely manner. Did a few things over and above what he was asked to do, which I definitely appreciated. Both guys were very nice and friendly, as is Shawn, whom I met last time. TERRIBLY HORRIBLE!!! BEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! DO NOT HAVE ANY BUSINESS DEALINGS WITH "Above the Rest".............. I don't know how this guy keeps his business afloat. There was one excuse after another, and Shawn never did take full responsibility. I paid for inside and outside window washing last fall. Due to unforeseen circumstances the scheduling didn't work out. Shawn suggested I wait until this spring, which I did. They don't respond to emails, or return phone messages. I was extremely patient and gave Shawn ample opportunity to prove himself. I believe that once Shawn had my money he wasn't motivated to provide the service. I was counting on the window washing since I'm about to put my house on the market. Now I have to start all over again. Shawn knew how badly he screwed up and told me he'd throw in power washing my home. Well guess what? He forgot and that equipment was never even loaded on the truck. I just think this guy could care less. I have suggested that Angie's list remove his company from their list stat!

Shawn and his crew arrived on time, took their time and not only power washed my three porches, but scrubbed them, removing all the difficult stains and dirt that had accumulated from not being power washed in over three years. They returned the next day and waterproofed the porches, gave me tips on how to keep the porches clean and prevent the wood from rotting. When they left, the only way a person would have know they were there, was because the porches were so clean!

Privider artived on schedule and worked diligently. I had lots of windows with old storms. They look great.

They were professional and made every effort to do a good job. A couple of screens were re-installed upside down and there were a few scheduling challenges, but for those were the only issues. I would certainly use them again.

Service took about 90 minutes with three workers. Noticed that after a recent heavy downpour the water actually went down the downspouts instead of over the gutters. They reinstalled gutter guards that were removed.

There was a storm and we found out our gutters were clogged. I called and left a message. Shawn called me back right away. he had guys out cleaning our gutters in the same week. Great service, great to work with. Would definitely recommend.

Great! 2 people washed inside and out. I have slider and top/bottom windows. the job was finished in 2 hours.

Paid to have gutters cleaned out. They did absolutely nothing! I wish I could post the pictures that I took a few minutes after they "cleaned" out my gutters. Also broke my new garden hose by ripping the end off. The guy was more interested in talking on his cell phone than providing a service. I would be glad to provide pictures to anybody who asks for them.

Polite, punctual, price was right, professional. Only problem was that two of the screens were not replaced. and I was not aware of needing to remove external bars to wash outside facing window pane.

They scheduled in a timely manner - we had to reschedule a few times due to weather. I purchased cleaning of the gutters on the garage as well for an additional $20. There was a mix-up and the garage gutters were not cleaned. I called and they promptly returned to do the garage. I found them to be professional and pleasant. I would use them again.

I bought the "big deal" in late October of 2014. Shawn promptly contacted me and with his workload we were into late November. My appointment got bumped due to bad weather and Above the Rest trying to cover other clients. As the year was ending, the weather was getting colder and being in a small town we agreed to hold off until spring. Here we are in spring, and I contacted Shawn and he suggested a date that would fit our schedule for the area. His crew was close to being on time and very pleasant. They cleaned the gutters in a very basic fashion. They could improve on their clean up tools and skills. All in all , the gutters are clear.

They washed the deck about 3 weeks ago and then came back on Tues. May 19th to stain the deck. I paid the $199.00 for the washing and paid an additional $200.00 for the stain application. I was told I needed 2 to 3 gallons of stain, they didn't even use one, so I had to return the two extra, thankfully Home Depot refunded my money. I have spent several hours cleaning up their mess. They used a drop cloth that had been used at a previous job and it had red stain which transferred to my concrete patio. There are also many stain drops from my deck stain, so I have two colors of paint drops and even a round paint can stain on the sidewalk. They arrived about 5:00 PM on a cold and windy day so it was about 7:00 PM when they finished. I should have checked my patio before they left and made them clean it up have spent over 2 hours trying to clean my concrete patio and I still have to repaint the stairwell to the basement steps to cover all the paint drops. There are also many paint brush hairs on the deck, I think this contractor took on too many jobs, and seemed to be in such a hurry to finish I have had my deck washed and stained 3 times and this is the worst job ever had done by any professional. I am adding an additional complaint to the above. It has been over two weeks since the work was completed and it is still sticky. I called Bear and they said to wash it with mild soap & water,which was done twice but didn't help, so I will have to have the deck re-stained by someone else. Above the Rest did a lousy job because there are many places where it appears they did not even apply any stain, which explains why they didn't even use one gallon. I certainly think I should have a refund of $200 for the staining of the deck.

Phenomenal job! The windows were so clear and streak free that I thought they were open! Nearly 30 SPOTLESS windows, including the skylights.

The scheduling was a bit frustrating due to the weather. I paid for it in October but they had to postpone numerous times. They came out today and did a nice job. Gutters were clean and flushed. Very professional and good work.
