I contacted Curtis back in mid-April to mow the back area (as he had done for 3 years). He returned my call after several weeks of no contact, and he set April 24th as the work date. I wrote and dated that check. And there it sat on my kitchen island till July 6th. Many phone calls inbetween and never answered. Those that were responded to had some legitimate reasons (zero-turn mower clutch was out/replaced and broken again/replaced and working, firefighter cook-out on July 5th). Curtis arrived around 5:30PM on July 6th with a young worker to weed-eat. Curtis had to deal with a maintenance issue or two while he was here. Don't know what they were exactly. Close to 7PM I saw that he had his mower and crew up by his trailer. I walked up with the April 24th check and asked if the retaining wall had been weed-eatted. He said "no" but that he would be back in a few days to complete it. As I had to work July 6-9th, I didn't have to chance to see what had been accomplished. My past experiences with Curtis had always been a job completed was a job accomplished. That was not the case when I observed what had not been done. My check passed through the bank July 9th. I left a phone message on the 9th asking when he would complete the job. I emailed July 13tth asking basically the same... Received an email back on July 14th that he would call me that day. To date, have not received any reply. My wife and I really do like Curtis. He is a nice and likeable person. That makes this more painful, when someone does not make attempts to complete a job, does not respond and never shows back up. I have given up on him. Was not dependable in the least this year and can't rely on him again.
Description of Work: Mowed much of the back area but left a large strip that had to be mowed/weed-eatted. Did not weed-eat along the table rocks or above the retaining wall or perimeter of the property.

My husband hired Curtis to keep our lawn trimmed and cleaned up while we were moving from California to our retirement home in Branson. When we arrived unannounced we were astonished to see that the lawn looked like a wild jungle and we knew nothing had been done as promised. After we contacted him he still took his time coming over and then did a half-baked job. Luckily, we were able to find a good lawn maintanence person in Richie McGinnis, Branson Yardscape.
Description of Work: Mow, edge, trim and clean up

Curtis did do about 70% of the job. He spent less than 4 hours using a young kid as a helper. He asked for the full $250 and told me he would be back in a week to finish the job and haul off the rest of the debris. He never came back. I called him several times but he always had some lame excuse -- flat tire, had to go out of town, hasn't been back to my neighborhood recently, etc. He finally started blocking my calls. I emailed him but he never responded. All I want is for him to come back and finish the job. He must have told me three times how he was a volunteer fireman and how I could trust him. I am a 65-year-old widow making $8/hour. I had to work almost an entire week to pay Curtis for his 4 hours of work and he didn't even finish.
Description of Work: I hired Curtis to do some light lawn clean up and bush and small limb trimming. He was also supposed to clean out my gutters and of course rake up the debris and haul everything away.
