A couple of owners before us tore out part of the driveway to install a fence. Instead of filling the fence side with concrete, they put in 2 cobblestone wides connected to the garage pad in the back of the house. The stones sank causing water and mud to get tracked into the garage. Rick and his staff were very helpful in getting the appointment set up -- very friendly and responsive. Rick even called before he was to come by to survey the job to let me know he was running late. This type of ownership and professionalism is GREATLY appreciated in this day and age of quick replies and brushing off of responsibility. We did not have any work done by Holliday but will keep them in our list of contractors for future jobs. From the other reviews it looks like quality of the job is not an issue.

Our driveway and patio was replaced in a very satisfactory manner. The completed work was done in a very professional manner by a competent crew of workers. The job was completed within one week of time. The final drive and patio is holding well but we have a small area of the drive that has sunken in a small amount and Rick Holiday the contractor came out(Sept 2014) and inspected the affected area and said that they would come and correct this decline. As of December 12, 2014 they have not responded to correcting this error. We have called the office several times and no response to us has happened. We suppose that due to Winter setting in that we will not get this matter corrected this calendar year.

The worst commutation ever!!! I had the job scheduled for a Saturday, due to rain that day I assumed that they would not poor and that was the case. I was waiting for a call that day to cancel and reschedule the job didn’t hear anything from them. I call that fowling Monday a left a message. Two days later I called again and a lady answered and said that Rick would call me back that day never heard anything. It is now a week later and still no call and has not rescheduled the job. At this point I am going to use somebody else. In the end this company has VERY poor commutation and customer service skills. This was not a 500.00 dollar little job it was a 2000.00 dollar job and if he was too busy they should have told me and not scheduled to do the job.

I was very satisfied with my experience working with Holliday concrete. Rick was very prompt and professional when I met him for a free estimate. I received 4 bids and he was the only one that recommended that I have my old back patio removed completely and use new crushed rock compacted down as a solid sub layer that would support my new concrete patio. The rest of the contractors wanted to either pour on top of the existing slab or crush up the old concrete slab and use the existing chunks of concrete as a sub material. Rick's bid was very competitive and he was able to start the work in 1 week. Rick's crew showed up as scheduled and did everything they said they would do. They even suggested that I install a 3 inch PVC pipe under my driveway prior to pouring it to make it easier and more cost effective to install my future irrigation system. Holliday concrete is family business. Rick's two son's worked along side their crew during the entire project. The project was completed on time and I am happy with the results!

The work was supposed to be done in June but it didn't end up getting poured until August. They completed the work in three full work days. We worked primarily with the owner but his crew did the physical work. The work they did is really good.

Rick and team were great. This is the type of person you can just trust to do the right thing without checking in on them to make sure they're putting rebar in, drilling into existing adjacent concrete, making the pour thick enough, cutting expansion joints, etc. They would proactively reach out to us if there were design questions or issues that they encountered. We had them save the busted up concrete as backfill for a retaining wall project we were doing and they were accomodating. Due to the cold weather, we had to wait for a warm spell of 4-5 days. Rick monitored the weather, notified us when he thought he could do it, and fit us in like clockwork as soon as the temperature was right. It was a relief to not have to ride his a** to get out here. We have remodeled a dozen or so homes, and the service was exceptional compared to what we're used to dealing with. They weren't the cheapest, but they were close. Holliday Concrete is a family and friends operation and is just a straight shooting, ultra high-quality company that I would recommend to anyone. We had about a dozen bids, but chose Rick and team after months of careful consideration. Best decision ever.

They were just great! They were very professional and used all the right tools to get the job done beautifully. They put re-bar in the concrete. The four guys that came out actually got the job done in one day. We were very satisfied.

There are some issues however Rick has pledged to make it right. I took down my original review and posted the one above after Rick expressed to me that he felt my review was unfair. Since that time Rick has made minimal effort to make sure that everything was properly taken care of. He has never bothered to check in to make sure everything is completed properly. I received ONE phone call from Rick since that time. There were several holes on the surface of the patio that needed repair. They came back and repaired some and left others. I had to call again about that and they did repair those. There is a crack in the step off of the patio that still exists along with some faint red chalk and unexplained dark spots all over a light gray patio. There is also sealer that ran off of the patio and left a trail down the step. If it's not pointed out by me the customer there is no effort to make it right. No final walk though nor follow up. Rick was very upset with my original review yet there is no regard for me as the customer. He believes it looks great. I am re-posting my original review. It is factual and accurate. It started out great. The guys showed up on time and worked very hard and fast. I was surprised to see how quickly they were able to do the work. What I realized is that they are in a hurry at the expense of everything including quality. Their goal is to get it done quick and to get out. They are fine with the rough work. Unfortunately there is no regard for anything else. The project required some grading however in the process they blasted through the sprinkler line, covered up numerous sprinkler heads and control boxes even though I warned them and asked them to just let me know where they were so I could locate and repair. I was assured that was no problem. Prior to doing the work Rick the owner assured me they would repair any damage done. Now I cant even get them to help me find them. Before the project was even finished the owner showed up requesting a check. Against my better judgement I paid him because he said he thought it was already completed and gave me his word that everything would be completed the next working day. The remaining work was the finish work including their promise to locate my torn sprinkler line, and sprinkler heads. When they did show up they proceeded to seal the dirty concrete. They even sealed in the red chalk that was used to mark the saw cuts. When we asked about it the said he hope it would look OK and that he couldn't get it off with the power washer. The sealer was sloppily applied with some spots getting missed. The owner said he that maybe they could apply an additional coat of sealer. When asked about the red chalk he said they had to use that color so they could see to make the saw cuts. One of the guys came back to work on it. He did apply a second coat of sealer to one area which was improved were it not for the fact that they sealed in brown dirt on the grey patio. They attempted to use a wire brush on the red chalk only to leave large red scratched up patches on the patio. He said he would have to wait until the owner returned so they could try to find out what would remove the chalk. The original estimate was for $12,900. We added some work and knew the cost would be higher. Rick the owner said it would be and quot;a littleand quot; more. When I realized how quickly the work was happening I called him for a final cost. He said he hadn't gotten a chance to look at it but it would probably total around $14,000. So I was surprised when he showed up early requesting a check for nearly $16,000. Nonetheless I thought that it could be worth it if the project was finished as agreed. Very dumb move on my part. I will be finishing the work myself because I don't trust them to do anything further. One final note, the business is owned and run by a guy and his two sons. The father bids the work and the two sons do the work. All of the guys on the crew are very nice guys. They seem like very nice hard working people however their communication is poor and professionalism sub-standard. They are probably an OK option if you need some basic concrete work.

I called this company to have them come out and give me a quote to repair my concrete sidewalk. (I'm enrolled in a tax abatement program and the city says I have to and quot;repair the cracksand quot; in the sidewalk running from by back door, around the house, to my front door. Rick came out, took a look, and measured. He said he'd email me back with a quote. However, I pretty much knew he wasn't interested in doing the work, because he asked almost ZERO questions about the job. (And this is not exactly a normal sidewalk. There's a and quot;gutterand quot; along one entire side of it, because it doubles as a gutter to carry rainwater from a downspout.) So, I was expecting a high bid anyways. But I never received any email. On the other hand, at least he did respond to me. I've called a couple other top concrete contractors here on Angie's List and many don't even return your calls.

I got my original quote in Nov of 2012. It wasn't until June of 2013 that I was ready to get the work done. Rick gave me a discount of 300.00 even though my original quote was 7 months earlier. A date was scheduled for the work to start and the guys all showed up by 7:30 or 8 am. Great crew. Very professional and knew what they were doing and were very organized. I really expected this to be at least a two day job, but they were completely done and had everything cleaned up by 5 or 6 pm that night and had the drive and sidewalk taped off from traffic. Other than a lunch break, I think they worked straight through the day. I have an azalea bush that was fairly close to where the steps were and asked that if it was possible could they preserve that bush. They were careful and worked around it and the bush was undamaged. They came back a day or two later to remove the edge supports and removed the tape from the sidewalk traffic. They did make sure that the driveway remained taped off to traffic and said I could start using the drive on Saturday the 15th. Great experience from the time I called to get a quote through getting the work done. The only thing I wish I would have specified is that the quote would have included adding back dirt around the steps and repairing the landscape wall next to the steps. I knew that there would need to be some repair work done to the wall but I just didn't think to ask about that to begin with and that was my fault. I plan on getting a referral from Angie's list to do that work which is just 5 landscaping blocks that need to be reset.

I won't use them, they were too busy. I felt like they were picking and choosing their jobs. They weren't very customer friendly.

The workers arrived on Monday, May 20th at 7:30 AM and began removal of the old existing driveway and patio. There were seven or eight workers and they all knew their assigned jobs and worked together in a very professional manor. They removed the old driveway materials and started forming the new driveway structure and by noon they were starting to spread the new concrete. The manor they handled this job was very satisfactory. All of the construction crew were polite and all were willing to answer any questions that came from us the home owners. All of the work was completed in three and one half days and we would be happy to recommend Holliday Concrete to anyone who is considering a new driveway or concrete flat work. The quality of work is very good and quite pleasing in appearance.

The process was great from start to finish. We had our front walk and steps to the street replaced and one square of concrete on the public sidewalk replaced. The teams came when promised and the work was done in a professional manner. The estimate was the best we received. Clean up was done in a professional manner. I would recommend this company to anyone needing concrete repair.. Mr. Holiday came as promised when he bid the job. We receved a written estimate from the company..

Tom came to my home to look at and give me an estimate on my driveway problems. He was the only company, out of 5 that i contacted, that was able to come out to my home the same day I called. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. We spoke for about an hour about my foundation problems and driveway cracking issues in which he was able to describe the problems and underlying causes. I feel bad about using his time to give me a quote and not using his company to perform the work. I did not use his services because i own a landscape company and I have a business acquaintance that owed me a couple of favors in which I was able to and quot;cash inand quot; on for this project otherwise, i he would have been my first choice out of the five companies that bid the job. After reading reviews on multiple concrete companies, i found a negative review of Holiday concrete in which i find to be quite ridiculous. The negative review was a complaint about the lack of a formal proposal for a project. I would just like to say, I find it outrageous that someone would judge the quality of a company's work based on how formal the proposal is presented.

Rick came out and gave an estimate on a driveway tearout and replacement of the existing driveway plus an additional slab to widen a portion of the driveway that was to be 6.5' x 21'. We also wanted a separate estimate for a patio repair which would require tearout of a portion of the patio and replacing that portion with new concrete. After getting all of our estimates we had pretty much decided Holliday was the best deal and called to schedule the work which would take place in a few weeks. Then a few days later we decided that 6.5' wide on the new part of the driveway wasn't going to be wide enough so we called Rick to inquire on the added cost to make it 7' wide instead. It was at that point we realized we had made the right decision! Rick told my husband that if we could move our date UP to the Thursday of that week, which was a few days away, that he would drop the price of the patio estimate by $200! He wanted to keep his guys working and didn't have anything on the schedule for that day. It made it kind of h****** me because at the time I worked until 4 in the morning during the week, but to save $200 I would sacrifice sleep! They did a fantastic job on the driveway and we have had many compliments! The patio repair did not turn out as nice as the driveway, but we can live with it. The only problem with the patio repair is the brushed texture is a little rough on bare feet! We have since painted the patio because we ended up with 3 different colors of concrete ... which was by no means the fault of Holliday Concrete! This helped a little with the rough texture. All of the crew was friendly and extremely hard working! The job was done in two days as promised and looks fabulous! Their price was also the lowest of all of the bids we received! I hope we don't need to use them again, but would if the need arises!

My experience with Holliday Concrete was excellent in every aspect. The estimate was very competitive and the employees were friendly, polite and answered all my questions. They started and completed the work in a timely manner and were very professional in all of our contact with them. We are very happy with our new driveway and sidewalk, it really looks fantastic. I often recommend them to my family, friends and neighbors.

Overall I am very satisfied with the work Holliday Concrete preformed, the salesman (Rick Holliday) arrived at the agreed upon time for the estimate and was very knowledgeable and helpful with all my questions. The work took two days to complete, all the men on the crew were very kind and professional. I would definitely use Holliday Concrete again.

I am a owner/operator of a dump truck business for 8 years, I have hauled for various concrete companies in the kansas city area and I choose Holliday Concrete to do my stamped patio at my residence. I choose them because of there work ethics and professionalism and most of all the quality of their work. The work was completed in two days as agreed upon, I was very pleased with the clean up when they were done, overall I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs any concrete work done.

I contacted Rick to get an estimate to perform the work. He came out and measured and told me he would have a price for me the following day. I waited two days before calling the company and was told they would relay the message. I called yet again another two business days later and had to leave another message. Finally after two weeks from him taking the mesurements did I receive a call with the estimate. I hope this understanding of why they did not receive my business will help them in the future with the next potential customer.

They were referred to us by our neighbors. They did a great job. Their pricing was reasonable.

The driveway looked nice when they finished it and everything seemed to be fine. They cleaned up after themselves. About 2 months after the work was completed, a corner at the end of the driveway cracked. I called them several times and they finally sent someone out to look at it. They claimed that somebody had driven over it and caused it to crack. I told them nobody had driven over it and after several attempts at trying to get them to come out they finally sent someone out to repair the crack. All they did was cover the crack with a grey glue that didn't really even permeate into the crack. The man I spoke with was very unpleasant to me whenever I spoke with him.
