EZ TECH GUYS

On 11/9 we brought my Kindle Fire in to these guys. The tech Andrew was cordial and told us that the Kindle had a bad charging port; that it was common, he fixed them all the time and it would cost about $50. After 2 weeks we went there thinking it must be done by now despite having not heard from them and they said that the one they had got (the new port) was bad and they would have to order another one. This was the Monday before Thanksgiving. Was told that it would be done by next Monday at the latest. Received a call that it was done the following Thursday and my husband went to get it on Saturday. The man behind the counter was clearly distressed handling a disgruntled customer over the phone while my husband waited. When he got done he handed my husband a Kindle and told him the bill was $80. My husband told him he had been told $50. The guy said that the part alone was almost $50 but promptly discounted it to 50 plus tax. Before my husband could pay for it he realized it was not my Kindle. It said "Michelle's Kindle" in the bar and the books were not familiar (there was no password). The guy hurriedly ran to the back looking for mine and came back and said it was done but just not charged and tested and asked us to come back that afternoon. We got tied up and didn't make it back till Wednesday. This time I came in and they gave me a Kindle and told me that they had to wipe it: therefore it was blank and unregistered. It also had some marks on it that were not from me and showed that it had been taken apart and put back together without a lot of care. They also claimed that my husband had already paid when I was pretty sure he hadn't and I told them so. When I got home I asked him and of course he had not. My husband had to re-register the device and quickly found out it was not mine. Amazon has a "manage my Kindle" place and clearly showed two different serial numbers! My husband de-registered the other device to prevent someone from using our account and does not intend to pay them for this. The plus side is we have a working Kindle which we didn't have when we brought it in and we weren't charged. The negatives are large though. We have a different Kindle that is not in as good of shape as mine was. Perhaps Michelle's? It took a month. We are certain that it wasn't necessary to "wipe" the Kindle to put a new charge port in because Michelle's was not when we went to pick it up ope that the first time. So this means they KNEW that they had given us the wrong one. One could hope that they at least wiped our original one they presumably gave to someone else: Perhaps Michelle again?
