Mark was very professional from returning our phone calls to bidding the job up to the completion of the entire job. Over the years we have had many different workers in our home and he would be at the top of our list. Don't hesitate to hire him you will be very happy with your decision. We would definitely hire him again.

Mark worked with me to lay the right size driveway. He suggested better ways and went above and beyond to accommodate my requests.

We needed a new back yard patio, received 3 bids, and decided to go with Hoffman Concrete after going to look at a few projects that Hoffman had done in the area. Their workmanship is impressive, Mark & his crew were very professional and punctual - they even worked on a holiday weekend so that my new patio would be ready for an event we were having. I would not hesitate using Hoffman again and have recommended him to many people, most of which have seen my patio.

Hoffman Flatwork LLC was one of three contractors that we called for bids on a new patio. Owner Mark Hoffman came out the next day after we contacted him. We explained to him what we had in mind. He took some measurements and notes, and that evening he e mailed us his bid. After receiving the other two bids, we had decided to use Hoffman, but had a couple questions before we committed. Time was of the essence due to weather, and I contacted Mark with my questions on Saturday evening. He was back out at our house at 6:30 AM Sunday morning to address our questions and refigure some specs. We signed our contract, and his crew showed up bright and early Monday to tear out the old patio, grade the area, set the rock base and form the new patio. Weather prevented work Tuesday through Thursday; Friday, the crew returned and poured the new patio. The following Tuesday the new patio was sealed, and the job was complete. The patio looked great until spring, when cracks began to appear. We called Mr Hoffman, told him what was going on. He stopped by, took a look, and assured us not to worry, they shouldn't get any worse. They did. As the summer wore on, more cracks appeared, and the existing cracks grew much worse. By August, all 4 sections of our patio were cracked, as well as chips broken out in different places on the surface. We called the office, called Mr Hoffman's cell, as well as texted messages. After multiple attempts, I finally received a voice mail from Mr Hoffman, informing me that he was too busy to come look at the patio, and told me to text him some pics, which I did. This was the last contact I have had with Mr Hoffman. I had tried calling again, then sent him a text asking him one last time to come look at the patio. No response. Fearing that with the onset of freezing weather water would enter the cracks, freeze, and make matters even worse, I purchased concrete sealer and sealed the patio myself. (We had paid additional to have the patio sealed after it was poured. A worker supposedly did; however, after I sealed it, there was a visible difference in shade, finish and water repelling characteristics. We can't help but wonder what type/grade of sealer was used initially) It should be noted here that during the entire project, Mr Hoffman was absent. All the work, start to finish, was performed by other workers. We found this to be odd. In the last 2 years, we have had siding, windows, furnace, electrical service and roof replaced, privacy fence, insulation and retaining wall installed. In every single case, the owner/contractor was either on site periodically, or actively involved in the work. Our patio is the only project we had problems with. We have lodged a complaint with the BBB as a result of this shoddy workmanship and subsequent lack of response in regards to our concerns. Although Mr Hoffman could not find time to get back with us the entire summer/fall of 2014, he responded to the BBB in one day. In his response, he reported what his company did, in great detail. There's just one problem - he was NEVER on the job site during the entire operation. So, there's no way he could know what exactly WAS done. The sealing was done 4 days later, not 10-14, as he stated in his response. He stated that he told us to wait 35 days before installing our hot tub. That is a lie. We were told to wait a week. Indeed, we would have waited all winter, if necessary. We were under no pressure to pick the tub up from where we bought it. We went off what we were told. We're not concrete experts. As it was, it was nearly two weeks before it was delivered, and sat another week empty until we could get it wired up before filling. (Ironically, where it sits today is the least cracked of the 4 sections - only one crack) In his response, Mr Hoffman cited the harsh winter we had. Our neighbor across the street had a driveway poured at the same time. To this day - Nov 2014 - his driveway is completely free of cracks. I'm pretty sure he and I experienced the same weather.... Mr Hoffman also stated in his response to the BBB that he forwarded those grainy cell phone pics to his supplier, and they were able to tell that the chipping was due to "placing salt on the patio throughout the winter". (A) we don't use salt on ANY of our concrete - we don't buy it, have none in the house. We know how harmful salt is to concrete. (B) Why would we, anyway? It's not like we sit in our lawn chairs on the patio and party or entertain guests in the dead of winter. It is a 3 step walk from our heated garage to the hot tub. We BROOM, not even shovel, the snow aside, then place a piece of old carpet down to walk to the tub. We have since had three different companies come in to take a look at things. All 3 told us that this is a result of improper mix and/or curing, NOT "by placing a hot tub on concrete that was not cured out, along with an extreme winter with below normal temps" , as Mr Hoffman concluded in his BBB response. We're now looking at about $4000 to get this repaired. In conclusion, obviously we can no longer recommend Hoffman Concrete for any work, based on our experience. We have no personal issues with Mr Hoffman; this is a business matter. Perhaps this all could have been avoided had he been on site, involved with the process, as all of our other contractors were. Further, it was especially disconcerting and speaks volumes that, once we began to experience problems, that Mr Hoffman could not return any calls or express any concern about his company's workmanship. Buyer beware!

I selected three contractors from Angie's list that had an A rating. All three gave bids and I selected Hoffman Concrete, LLC because of the excellent price quoted. They were very punctual, showed up on time. Work was scheduled to start 11/7 but because of the weather were delayed by one day. The removal and putting up forms were done the same day(11/8). Poured driveway, sidewalk, and steps 11/9. The patio was poured 11/13. 11/15 the driveway, sidewalk, and steps were power washed. 11/16 a protective coating was applied to all concrete. The Saint Ann inspector made a comment of the good job the Hoffman Concrete did.

It went very good! The jod was done in an efficienly and timely manner, i would defenitely use this company again and will refer them to friends and family!

It went well. The weather was not cooperative, but they did what they said they would do. They were there when they said they'd be there. The work looks great! Mark was very patient while I went through the decision making process. He worked with me and gave me his own input so I really appreciated that.

Off of a personal referral, I called to get my driveway expanded. I got tired of parking one car on concrete and the other in the grass. They came out very promptly to give me an estimate. He gave me the option just to add on and also if I wanted to replace the whole driveway, which really needed it. I chose for them to replace the whole thing, and that they did. They where out quick to get the job done, they whole project was complete in just a few days. It really makes all of the difference to the front of my house to have this new driveway. They were great to work with, affordable, and professional. Will be calling them again...

I was extremely pleased with the service, price and professionalism from Hoffman. The employees showed up on time and were very couteous. I had a big patio and walkway poured. They explained exactly what they were going to do and did it beyond my expectations. They recommended a different style finish to the concrete and I am very pleased. They came back to backfill and complete the job after the concrete cured. I have recommended several people to Hoffman since my work was completed. I am going to have a new driveway done, when I do I will be calling Hoffman for sure. Jason
