Price was a bargain, they had to move quite a bit of earth, maybe more than expected. Solved some water flow issues with good foresight. Crew was professional and courteous, crew boss communicated well, work area was kept clean. Have had some issues with discoloration of part of the area, but really is due to fruit falling from neighbors tree. Hoffman provided strong service and superior value for the dollar. I would use them again.

Removal was done quickly and foreman went over every detail of the job to be done. Adjustments were made to my preferences and even tho I was out of town they kept in contact with me of what was happening on the job site. The finish was great and I'm very please with the amount of work done and look.

Hoffman was very communicative and responsive to us from the start. We had lots of questions and concerns as the original driveway, front porch, front sidewalk, and back patiofrom1968 had lots of issues, especially with water drainage. The poor drainage had caused large voids to form under part of the driveway along side of the house, causes the concrete to break apart, as well as large ponds to form after the rain in various places on the driveway and patio. Hoffman took the time to understand the problems, helped us with our ideas on how to solve the problems, and gave us advice on how to keep the design functional and still look good. Their estimate was also very competitive with others. It took them about two weeks to complete the project. They worked hard while they were here, even with the 100 degree heat. They were always polite, and kept us informed of their progress. They were very thorough with stringing all of the slabs before they poured to make sure that the water would drain where it needed to, and not go where it wasn't wanted. They were also thorough with adding the rock and compacting it well before pouring too. The problems areas of where water would drain towards the house as well as pond in several locations are now all fixed. They also came back later and sealed all the concrete and backfilled with clean dirt, just as stated in the contract. It all looks great! We are very happy with the finished product and would definitely recommend them to others who need concrete work.

Mark and his team responded promptly, gave us a fair quote, scheduled us shortly after agreeing to terms and completed the job on time. The job was done on time and looks good.

Bid stage: I contacted 4 concrete companies to receive bids for a back yard patio to surround my deck. John with Hoffman Concrete called within a couple of days and did a site visit. He explained exactly how the work would be done: Removal of dirt to provide an area for crushed rock base and 4 inches of concrete above. He said they would use small sized heavy equipment (Track front loader that would fit in my gate) to remove the debris. Even though Hoffman was not the lowest price, I selected them because of the method of excavation, back filling and pouring. Hoffman?s does give a 5% off the Angie?s list members and that helped. Bid acceptance: After a couple of weeks I had received three bids but not Hoffman?s. I contacted John and he apologized and had the bid over by evening via email. I accepted the bid and mailed the signed contract and deposit check for half of the project costs. Scheduling: I was told they were 8 to 10 weeks out and I was okay with that. During the waiting period I went on vacation and let Mark Hoffman know not to schedule my job during that period. When I came back home I let Hoffman know and he said they would be in touch in a couple of weeks. A month later I contacted him again and told him I have been waiting for 12 weeks since I mailed the check and signed contract. The next day the crew leaders came out to look at the job and said they were going to start after the Labor Day weekend. I had drawn plans for the patio and made sure they had copies to make the job go smoother. The start was delayed one more day by rain but they did start the next day. Project performance: I own a home on a corner lot and the job included a patio and sidewalk that leads to the city sidewalk. On the first day the crew used a track front loader to excavate the majority of the area. They leveled the area and installed the forms. Placed crushed rock and tamped it to provide a good base. While using the track loader they stayed in the area that the side walk would be installed. My grass was left in pretty good condition. The next day they poured the concrete by using wheelbarrows and hauling it in from the street. They smoothed the concrete and gave it a soft brush finish. A couple days later they showed up and removed the forms. They picked up all their trash but did not clean my vinyl siding and white vinyl fencing. The splashed concrete from the installation had dried hard to the vinyl. The vinyl should have been wiped clean while it was still wet. Anyway, I contacted Hoffman and they came out and cleaned it. Communication: All of my communications were conducted over Angie's List messaging. Mark Hoffman replied quickly to my questions and concerns. Satisfaction: I am happy with the job and feel I got a good price and hope to have years of enjoyment out of my patio. I would recommend Hoffman?s Concrete for any job you may have. The crews work very hard to get the job done professionally and quickly. There were no surprises or additional cost because I had plans and communicate with the contractor.

I contacted 6 companies for bids. I had no idea how difficult it would be to get people to show up. Hoffman was on time and very thorough. John explained exactly what they would do and the time frame involved. He made me feel like I was in good hands. They were booked about 6 weeks out but I was told that up front. Their bid was somewhere in the middle but I felt very confident that they would do a great job. They had a crew come around 7am and get everything started. They were all very professional and fast. I never saw anyone standing around. They worked the entire time and cleaned up as they worked. I was very impressed with their professionalism and their care in making sure I was happy. I was home the first day for the framing and dig out but i wasn't home for the pour and stamping. My neighbor came over once the job was completed and commented on how professional they were and what a great job they did. She also noticed that no one was standing around, all worked hard. The patio is beautiful and I have had many compliments on it. I will definitely use this company when it comes time to replace my driveway. I highly recommend them. Job well done!

Mark and his crew were quick to respond to my initial request for an estimate. Placed a call and it was returned the same day. Once the bid was received and price agreed to they were equally as quick to schedule the work and execute. The new parking pad and interior/exterior patches look great and really go along way in making the building/property look great. My first experience with Hoffman Concrete, LLC. was so positive I've given them another flatwork job and will consider them for any and all future flatwork.

Mark and his crew went above and beyond to ensure that we got the driveway and sidewalk that we wanted. When there were issues that came about Mark rose to the occassion and stood behind his work 100% making sure no details were left unsatisfactory. He and his crew were very honest and amiable. Great crew and great company!!!!.

Mark called me sooner than I had expected, to begin this project (for which I was very grateful), even though I signed the contract 3 months ago. Continual rain made an earlier start date impossible. His crew arrived at 6:30 AM, about an hour earlier than stated, and they were very pleasant, professional, and eager to undertake the job. They were most accommodating and helpful every step of the way, and they are VERY hard workers, even though the summer heat and humidity were bad. They graciously helped me even with additional things I requested, like removing a fixed shelf from my garage wall and carrying some heavy things out of the garage for me. One of his workers, Jack, told me at the end of the first day that I could leave the side garage door unlocked overnight, so that he could get in the next morning and they wouldn't have to awaken me early again. I was beyond grateful for that. The second morning, they arrived early again and went right to work without disturbing me at all. They always answered every question I had, and they explained the procedure to me with clarity. The original contract price for this job was for $5,273 (with the Angie's List discount), but I added on the repair of my foundation wall, which was an additional $650, including waterproofing. I also have hired his crew to haul away a LOT of old furniture and other very heavy items from my house and my basement (which will be scheduled for a time later), and that added to my total bill another $800 (for the rental of the dumpster, the labor to move these things out of my house, and to have the dumpster hauled away). I have already paid the entire bill, including the charge in advance for that hauling. All that remains is to set a date on which they can do that job. Mark will arrange to have a dumpster delivered to my house, so they can put in it everything I no longer want and haul it away. This saves me a LOT of time and anxiety concomitant with trying to find a trustworthy and dependable company that will do such heavy moving and hauling. (I had asked Mark if he knew of a company that does such hauling when I discussed the job with him early on. He very kindly offered to help me with this, because I know no one in the business and I desperately need to get rid of most of my furniture, so I can move my parents' furniture to my home.) Although the hauling has not yet been scheduled or done and although the powerwashing and sealing have not yet been scheduled or done, I am very impressed with what has been done so far. I'm not only impressed with the work, but also with the professionalism, neatness, and great attitudes of Mark, Jack, and every single member of Mark's crew. I would hire this man and his crew again in a heartbeat. In fact, I plan to hire him to do some more work for me at my other house, which used to belong to my parents. Mark and his crew know their job well, and they have the skills and the work ethic to do the job properly. You can't go wrong hiring this man and his crew. They are exceptional.

Crew was great to work with. i was home during the work and the crew chief kept me informed during the setup since i had a specific design for the walkway which they setup as designed without any problems. Completed the back fill and final cleanup within a few days after the concrete pour was finished The finished product looked great and i am very satisfied.

The crew did a superb job and Chris and John immediately addressed any concerns I had. The due date was put off two times due to excessive rain, but what can you expect in St. Louis? I had a concern about where the concrete met my porch, and all three men (John, Mark, and Chris) came out at different times to look the problem over and then resolved it. Chris and his crew were extremely polite and even gave me suggestions about flaring the end of my sidewalk, which I took, and it looked great. They cleaned up as they went. A deposit was given at the start of the job. I was asked for full payment before the job was finished, but I explained that I had gotten burnt doing that in the past, and would not do that. They did not press the issue. This company was wonderful, and I would fully recommend them to everyone, and have.

it all went well, Mark Hoffman was very professional and answered all questions I had. His crew was also professional. i would gladly recommend his company to all.

I would never use Hoffman .for one thing you would want estimate in writing not verbal and his professionalism sucks.I went with another company.

They framed the patio the day before and poured the concrete the following day. The patio turned out pretty good. Had some rough parts but not bad. I asked Mark to work with us in getting the patio done in May and he delivered with all the rainy days we've had. In that respect i was very happy with his willingness to work with us.

Hoffman was great, they really were. They came out first when I asked for bids and they ended up being the cheapest. But they had good reviews here so I felt o.k. going with them. They got to the job pretty quickly, I think they fit me in because it was a relatively small job. They texted me with their plans and gave me warning when they'd be starting. The crew that came out was very polite. They stopped working to answer questions and cleaned up after themselves. Unfortunately there was a problem with the utility pad, it was finished wrong and drained improperly. They came out the next day and agreed with me. They pulled it out immediately and got it re-poured right away. I felt bad for them but it needed to drain properly. I think they were frustrated but more with themselves for their mistake. They didn't take it out on me, they just made it right for me. I'm very pleased with the work they've done. I'll hire them again for a couple other projects I have plans to do.

I have worked with Mark for 5 years now on a half dozen jobs ranging from parking pads to ADA ramps. It is easy to be disappointed with construction based contractors, but Mark does not disappoint. He and Chris have excellent communication, are punctual, respectful, clean, and do exactly what they say they will. His rates are very competitive and certainly worth the piece of mind to know that the job will get done right. The finished product is always high quality, professional, detailed, and of pristine cleanliness (to the extent that they will truck in top soil to touch up any gaps or low points).

Hoffman was prompt with an estimate. Since reviews on Angie's List were excellent, I was confident in using Hoffman. The old concrete walkway was removed and prepped for the new one. After two days, they gave time for the ground to dry, a new one was poured. One week later the sealer was applied and the final product looks very nice. I was very happy with the results. I also had some cracks repaired on the back screened porch.

So far I've had Hoffman Flatwork do two jobs for me. Both times, the jobs were managed exceptionally. I say exceptionally because we don't necessarily expect companies working on residential construction jobs to communicate well, do what they promise, and do high quality work. Hoffman Flatwork did all three. There was a lot of good back-and-forth communication prior to starting the work, the schedule was adhered to, and the jobs were both done to perfection. The guys who did the work cleaned up the area after they were finished and were careful with not blocking the driveway. They even put a little safety barrier around the place where they took out the old driveway piece because it had to sit overnight. Mark Hoffman stands behind the quality of the work his people do, which is another thing we all want to see in residential construction but which is not easy to find. Hoffman Flatwork did great work in a businesslike manner and will be doing my next concrete job as a result.

Hoffman Flatwork was consistently in touch with us, providing updates about weather and planning. We had the project dug out, formed and poured in 1 day. We would use their service again in the future.

Did not cut any corners good seasoned crew who really knew their stuff. Top grade concrete ( six sack mix with fiber mesh Merimac rock). Worked to make sure I was happy with design. I've been a general contractor for 32 years & I've seen a lot of concrete go down. Prep work layout & finish must be correct that what you get with Hoffman concrete

Project is still in progress due to size of project. Hoffman Flatwork and his crew tore out existing front sidewalk, driveway and wood deck on top of existing broken up concrete patio. Front sidewalk and existing driveway and approach have been replaced and look great. We also added an extension to the driveway to make it 3 cars wide. Everything looks great and uniformed. Hoffman is also pouring a patio with a stamped impression that we are looking forward to seeing. Hoffman suggested tying in the patio to the driveway extension which we opted to do. In doing that a portion of the patio has an arc/soft curve which has provided a nice but subtle transition to the new patio that will be stamped with a roman slate type appearance with a cobblestone border that will be colored with a desert tan. Drive by's and friends have all complemented the curve portion poured extension. During the prep work for the patio we wanted to add a future hottub, at the time that portion of the patio was not prepped for that area. HF was able to come up with a quick solution and has that incorporated it into the prep work. HF will also be constructing a retaining wall next to patio and we added another wall to the rear of the home. HF's crew has always been on time and have done what they said they were going to do and were always respectful of the property. Weather has been our only obstacle since it was late March, but HF crew chief was always in contact with us and checked on site prep to make sure it was ready. HF has had numerous people stop by and request bids and to look at all the work that is being done. All have been impressed with the amount of work that has been done. I would recommend Hoffman Flatwork for any type of concrete work that you may need done.

We were delayed because of the cold weather. Mark and his staff we excellent at communicating delivery of equipment & planning for the best day to complete the work. They broke out and removed the floor on a saturday and re-poured a new one the following tuesday. Being that I have no experience with doing this kind of repair, the only thing that came as a surprise was that sealing the floor was an additional cost/expense or added project I didn't know I would have to take on. I am waiting for consecutive 60 degree days (& the time) to finish this myself. (not a project that I anticipated and not one I look forward to). I feel that Mark's price, quality, timing and professionalism was excellent. I would highly recommend using his company to anyone.
