My 19 year old son went there on Sunday and bought 2.5 yds of brown mulch for a client that lives in a well to do neighborhood. He has probably bought a dozen or so pick up truck fulls of mulch over the summer for other clients. He called me to say how he had been treated by the owner. The mulch was from the bottom of the pile and he didn't realize until he left and got to his girlfriends house that the mulch contained a bunch of white stuff, kind of like mold maybe, not sure what it was. He called them, then me, I advised he go back and get new mulch. He spoke to the owner who said no big deal just water it down. My son wanted it replaced. He didn't want to take a chance of putting it down and having his client unhappy then having to get it back up if it didn't wash off. They offered him $20 off but he said no, he wants new mulch. The owner talked down to him as though he was a dumb kid and verbally abused him. Eventually my son did have to help unload the brown mulch and it was replaced with black mulch. Then the owner said he wanted his $20 back and if he didn't give it to him he would just debit his card for it. I have patronized them before, but my son nor I will ever go there again. Just because a client is young doesn't mean they are stupid or you don't have to listen to them, or that they can't stand up for what's right. Beware of the crabby owner that's no way to talk to a young man!

Because we didn't have clear plan on what we wanted to do, owner came out and drew a rough design for us at no charge. He seemed very knowledgeable about trees and plants in general. The trees we bought were all 10ft tall . Price for trees + planting was fairly competitive. Nursery didn't have the trees in stock, so we had to wait about 2 weeks for the trees to come. Once they came, we tagged the ones we liked and scheduled the planting within a week. Crew came on time, worked in frizzing cold, very fast, dug all holes by hand with no damage to the rest of the lawn. Tree bases were covered with mulch. All trees made it through this harsh winter! Man that was in charge of planting was very easy to communicate with and job was done exactly how we wanted it. I would definitely recommend Zick's Great Outdoors to anyone. -Tanya

Zick's owner and staff are extremely knowledgeable, kind and caring about their product and clients. I will continue to use Zicks for all of my landscape and planting needs.

We just did the entire front of our house landscaping with them and we are very pleased. They took an approach of looking at the whole front of the house and coming up with an overall design, not just trying to sell us plants that we might like. We will finish up with them in the spring. We dealt with them over the years. We have gotten pretty good stock. They all bring stock in from wholesalers and when we had problems, the owner of the place had been responsive. He is just a downright decent guy.

They did a pretty professional job when they did the initial planting. I thought the yard looked very nice. This summer when several of the bushes and hemlock trees died due to heat and lack of water, they were there immediately to replant them all free of charge. I will have them do any future landscaping for sure!

THEY WERE VERY GOOD, BUT NOT NECESSARILY INEXPENSIVE.
