+ -1 moreA plumber came to provide a quote on Wednesday and tested the all fixtures by running water, claiming the water is escaping through the gap in the shower door. I did ask him to test some more since the leak was not significant and consistent. He ran the water again... He only collected $90, which is what they told me on the phone, but he thought he should charge me more since he has done some work. We put a towel on the gap to trap the water but The leak SHOWED UP LATER AGAIN. I called back to ask for an immediate call back but they said it would be $300 minimum since it would be on the weekend. I decided to wait until Monday and on Monday they told me it would be Tuesday and they would charge me more if it is not plumbing related. I couldn't take any more work off so I had to cancel the service. Another company came over early morning to investigate again and they ran all fixture and cut the dry wall and finally found THREE trim nails had been shot into hot water pex piping in three locations in the master bedroom behind vanity. It was bad and my baseboard and dry wall are all molded. I just feel the plumber was unprofessional because there was not rust in the gap, the leak's location didn't match the gap, and all he did was run some water without even cutting the drywall to properly assess the leak and he only ran the cold water for some reason. Even though I accidentally turned on the hot water, the plumber said it wasn't necessary. The damage could be significant since the leak spread quickly after being touched, but they told me it would cost a minimum of $300 to fix, which should have been addressed properly from the start and No warranty on work.

+ -1 moreIf you want a company that provides no communication, and does extra work without approval, they are your company. They originally quoted $5,000 to fix a watermain leak. When they started, they discovered that the leak was in the street. So after about two months (with no communication) they showed up, dug up the street, made the repair and patched the road. Four months after the work was completed they sent an invoice for $16,500. We called and asked why the increase. They said they had to dig up the street which was more costly than original quote. We asked them if they could send over any correspondence for the triple price increase, nothing was sent over.

Not cheap, but charged a fair price for a highly skilled master plumber. Also needed an estimate for replacing our cast iron sewers, and why an experienced plumber was valuable, since everything is PVC since the 90s.

+ -1 moreAfter a weekend of no hot water, Angela at J J Kokesh got a technician to my house within an hour of calling Monday morning. When he arrived, we discussed many options, from a simple repair of the valve, to completely replacing our older tank. I was shown prices of every option before committing to any work being done. Ultimately decided to replace the tank, due to some code violations that would have to be fixed anyway. He returned to the warehouse to get our new tank, and had it installed by lunch time. I was extremely confident in the knowledge and competency of my technician, and the quality of both his work and the products installed. This was not the very cheapest option, but I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for. The price was competitive, and peace of mind is worth what I paid! Also-Angela took care of setting up the required County Inspection for me

+ -1 moreOur water line to the ice maker broke over night and flooded the house. They came out a couple days later after the drywall was removed and replaced the line. Very nice guy and did a great job! Reasonably priced also! Will be using them again for another plumbing issue we are having.

+ -1 moreThe person initially sent out worked on all areas. The under-cabinet leaks were very tricky to deal with but he attempted to repair them as well. All his other work was perfect but the under-cabinet leaks remained. The company sent a second plumber out within 2 days (scheduling was difficult because of holiday situations) and he successfully dealt with the leaks. I was not charged for the second visit. I would not hesitate to call them for service again and, in fact, when we get ready to update our upstairs bathroom we consider them for the work. I have already given them recommendation to my neighbors.
Description of Work: I needed an outside faucet replaced, two interior leaking faucets repaired, and two interior under-cabinet leaks repaired.

+ -1 moreI was very impressed. The plumber was prompt, friendly, patient, got everything fixed up beautifully, and didn't leave a mess. He was able to diagnose the water pressure problem that had perplexed me, and managed to find a way to take apart and unclog part of the faucet which I had thought was not repairable. I can't really comment on their rates, since this is my first time paying for services like these, but the bill seemed fair to me. If I needed a plumber again, I'd call these folks without hesitation.
Description of Work: My first experience with Kokesh Plumbing was that their customer service was cheerful, helpful, and flexible! I called because of a problem with water pressure in my kitchen sink faucet. They'd have been happy to come out the following day, but since it wasn't an emergency and I was going to be out of town for a few days, I scheduled an appointment for about a week later. Then unexpectedly, I developed a second, more urgent problem -- the kitchen sink drain was clogged and unusable. I called again, and they were happy to move up my appointment, to the earliest time slot that was convenient for my schedule.

+ -1 moreThis job was a huge mess but Kokesh did a very good job in managing the disruption. They arranged a video inspection of the pipe and suggested an approach that minimized disruption by abandoning old pipe and running new pipe across kitchen. The workers also did a great job cleaning up. They made a very unpleasant circumstance bearable and I appreciate the attitude and professionalism. I had several advance bids and they were also the lowest of the plumbers we felt were highly qualified.
Description of Work: Replaced collapsed drain pipe in kitchen which required drilling up concrete floor, laying new pipe and new concrete.

I was so relieved to have this fixed! My family has used Kokesh for many years. I had not had a need for a plumber recently and when I read some of the reviews I was hesitant. However, my experience was great and I will not hesitate to used Kokesh again.

+ -1 moreFirst off they charged $112 for a service call to confirm what I had told them on the phone. Then they called a company out that could not go on the roof of a second story knowing there was no access point other wise. Then when the $300 routing service did not work they were going to send out the same guy that could not help me in the first place. I had to tell them what the man they contracted to fix the work told me was the solution. It appears the receptionist does the triage and does the subcontracting and you end up paying the extraordanary prices. The machine had stuff all over the wheels from the last job. I had to use my drop cloths and blankets to cover the floor. The grout was stained because he did not clean up the shower after he finished I had to do it.
Description of Work: Service call - $112 Router dran $290 estimate for second router $580 I called told them that the upstairs bathrooms were leaking into the kitchen. The drains had backed up into the shower and bathtub and one toilet was gurgling the other backed up. They said they would send out a plumber. He came out in one or two days walked upstairs looked at the shower, turned it on, heard the toilet gurgle heard the water come through the kitchen. Walked to the second bathroom saw the backup in the shower and the toilet and said you need it routed. He called midwest drain. They routed the shower. I told him I could hear it come through to the second bathroom. There was a huge mess in the shower. He took the machine to the second bathroom pulled the toilet and routed there. I told him I could hear it in the other bathroom. He said the router was jumping over the ... and he would not be able to do anything about it. He said if he could get on the roof it would be fixed in 10 minutes. I asked if he would he said his complany did not let him get on the roof. He wrote up the bill and said Kokesh would call me. They called and set up an apt for the first plumber to come back out. After I thought about it awhile I called and asked what the first plumber was going to do. The operator said he was going to look for an access point. I asked how. She said he would cut into the walls and probably find one in the basement. I asked if the stack was backed up and he opened it in the 'finished' basement wouldn't 2 stories of goop come gushing out? She said yes. I asked why they wouldn't just find someone who could route from the roof. She said that was a good point she would call me back. She called back and said she found someone. They would have to have 2 people on the roof at $145 / hour each. It could be 2 hours. I called Bore's Plumbing. They said they would send someone out. $139 plus $80 for the second man that holds the machine.

+ -1 moreLabor rate was $240 per hr. Plumber left trash laying around. I had to fix one shower faucetr my self. Plumber did a fair job, but the charge was rediculous. I have used Kokesh in the past, but something has changed - perhaps the next generation is managing the business. I will never use this plumber again.
Description of Work: Performed the following: (1). Installed toilet (toilet was unboxed and ready to install) (2). Installed shower trim (not the valve) (3). Installed vanity and faucet. (hole for plumbing already cut in vanity) (4). Attempted to fix the shower so that it would let out hotter water (worse than before - no hot water so I fixed it myself)

+ 0 moreThey came when they were scheduled. It wasn't for an emergency, but I did have them for an emergency situation last year where we had a gas leak. I had called a couple of numbers, but they would not take up gas work. People from JJ Kokesh came out the next day after I called them. The person who came out spent most of the afternoon respreading all the iron piping for our gas supply in the basement, which was a big job. They were prompt and did a very good job. They tested each junction with bubble, water and stuff. Their willingness to work with gas was a plus for me.
Description of Work: We used JJ Kokesh & Son Co. to rebuild a kitchen sink faucet that was leaking.

+ -1 moreI called the contractor around 7:30 am explained problem and was told someone could be at my house that morning. Asked for an estimate and was told about $200 including parts. Service tech arrived around 10:00 am. He replaced expansion tank and checked water pressure to the house. He said that it appeared the expansion tank was defective. Tank was only about 18-months old. He was finished and gone by 10:30. Parts cost $60 and labor was $150 ($50 for service call and 1 hr minimum at $100/hr additional work billed in 15 minute increments of $25). This is a union contractor and service tech seemed knowledgeable in his profession.

+ -1 moreI think he did a pretty decent job. When the faucet still continued to leak after the initial visit, he came back out and fixed it correctly at no extra charge. I think their prices were very affordable. I am not sure however if I would call on them again. I think I might shop around first next time.
