J & E Plumbing

We couldn't have asked for more prompt, professional service. A week later, after 36 hours of subzero temperatures, when another pipe (completely unrelated to the first break), burst. At 6 am, we called J&E Plumbing. We had a call back by 7:30 am and the pipe was replaced by 1 pm. I can't say enough about this company's customer service. They are one-of-a-kind. If you need plumbing work done--not just emergency service--they are the ones to call.

I had another plumber check my leak under the kitchen sink and I was told that I needed a new gabage disposal. I bought the garbage disposal and they installed it. A month later- same leak. J&E came out and said they barely screwed the disposal in- which is why it was leaking. Lesson learned, don't use a provider not on Angie's List!!!!

We were having trouble with a leaky showerheads. I was able to make an appointment quickly. I was uncertain what type of shower control I had, so Matt had me email him a picture. He wanted to make sure they had to correct part on the truck before they arrived. |He arrived on time, replaced the two showers heads (with ones I had previously purchased), replaced the cartridge in the shower control, and went to home depot to get a new shower handle. |I was very pleased with the service.

J and E plumber went to the property and replaced the shut off valve and was charged $285. However when the City plumber went install the new meter I was told that the work was incomplete, some couplings needed to be added before the meter could be installed. I called J and E and explained what city inspector/installer reported. They went back and completed the work correctly and was charged $427 (Angie's List customer discount). I asked the receptionist I needed to speak to Jeff the plumber who did the work. I never received a call for explanation, I was very disappointed in the final price, the lack of direct communication and lack of professionalism. I would not recommend their service.

Went great! (I've just had a death in the family and cannot write more.)

A little over an hour and Eric was done. He was professional, courteous, prompt, and explained as he worked what he thought the problem was and why he chose the tools he was using to test/resolve the problem. My plumber was Eric who was actually a subcontractor and dispatched by J and E Plumbing. Apparently the plumbing community/union works together to allocate work to their fellow licensed plumbers/union members who have the availability and/or proper skills/tools for the job at hand when a call comes in. I note this so that others aren't surprised when a truck pulls up with a different plumbing company's name on the side, and to ask the company you do decide to call if they will be sending their servicemen out or if another company's servicemen will be showing up. This might be a safety concern for some people, and if so, ask. Understand that you are paying the company you called to find you an available plumber to arrive on time and prepared at your location with the proper equipment for your job, so I don't think that it is unreasonable for them to charge more than had you known about and called their subcontractor/union partners directly. The bottom line is that I didn't know who to call, and they did, and that is the value they added to the transaction. That said, my subcontractor, Eric, actually works for the Drain Surgeons (314) 894-4716 (based out of Arnold, MO) and their website is http://www.drainsurgeons.com/. I can't comment on J and E Plumbing's actual plumbing/drain clearing work, other than that their receptionist was very helpful, explained their pricing (and the inherent variability that comes from clearing an unknown blocked drain), and explained clearly that increasing difficulty and/or manpower, if required, would obviously increase the cost. She also helped me make the easy decision to save some money by pushing back my appointment to the day after Monday's holiday (Veterans Day) when overtime rates would be in effect if I really needed someone to come out on the holiday. So for those reasons, I'm really giving my rating based on their customer service and industry knowledge. For the actual work, the rating really should be applied to the Drain Surgeons, and my technician, Eric. In the end, my drain was cleared, and it was less expensive than a call to the big name nationally advertised drain rotary rooter company's services. I also feel confident about J and E's trust in the Drain Surgeons work to give me a 30-day warantee on essentially another company's workmanship. Most importantly, no more backed up and waiting to drain kitchen sink and dishwasher!

I purchased the big deal coupon for this service and I was not happy with his service. He did fix the problem and there was no issue with him. I guess I didn’t use my whole deal and I think it was related to the amount of time. The person told me that I could call back and use the additional time at a later date. I called back later to use the additional time, but, in fact, in the small print of the deal it had to be used up at that time. I had additional work that I could have had him do or look at. But, since he said that I could use at a later date, I didn’t have him do that. The service that was done originally worked out fine but I didn’t get my money’s worth. The person that came out was okay. I’m no longer in that house though.

They did a great job on the two projects I asked them to do. Even better, they fix my dish washer drain and a leak from my water main without me asking. I didn't know I had those problems and I am glad they took care of it while they are at my house.

Valves were opened under the sink. Checked leak under another sink. Leak still exists. Was not professional. No uniform. Not pleasant. Seemed hurried.

The first visit was by a new employee that wasn't knowledgeable or professional. The plumber who arrived spent 20 minutes analyzing the situation then called his boss and said he couldn't do the work because he didn't have the right equipment. The employee was going to do a situation write up and his boss would call me. Nobody was willing to problem solve the issue and attempt to actually do some work while he was on site. Instead the boss charged me an hour labor for the visit. I was not happy about this because it wasn't my fault he didn't ask enough questions over he phone to bring the write person or tools for the job. The next person came out and did a good job with minimal supervision but he did have to go out to get materials from the hardware store which the company overcharged for. Not only did they overcharge for materials that are generally inexpensive (PVC pipe) but they charged an hour labor for going to the store. Again not sure why I'm being charged because they didn't have the right materials. After installation the toilet was making a noise and I called the company to send someone back out but have yet to get any response (that was 3 wks ago)

The technician called early to say he would be running late to the appointment. This was okay with me. He came in and got straight to work and informed me of the issues along the way. Everything was fixed without new parts so I was just charged labor. The labor charge was reasonable and the technician was knowledgeable.

Complete disaster. Literally.

The owner called and setup appointment quickly, however another person came out after the second time we had set up an appointment. The first time the technician had truck trouble. The person who did come was polite, but two of the issues we had were not fully resolved. Our washer frequently makes a sewer type smell when running it but he couldn't determine what was causing it. We had tried Googling for help on the internet, and in all fairness, no one on the internet had found a solution either. The second item was to determine why our dishwasher was overflowing. No resolution there either. We did need some plumbing fixtures tightened down, and that was done well.

Purchased the deal, which included a certain amount of labor (time), and materials. I spoke with the owner before purchasing the deal, as we had several things we needed repaired; he advised purchasing the deal, and explained overages if we exceded what was included. We did end up going over, but the charges were within the range they'd given. Additionally, there were extra pieces they needed, and the plumber had to leave to purchase them. The clock stopped while he was gone - they only counted actual working time. It took two times to complete the work, as a piece also needed to be ordered. They didn't charge to come back out the second time, even though that visit was still over half an hour.

I will not be using them again.

I didn't know what parts to buy so plumber went to plumbing store and picked up parts and received the discount I'm so pleased with work

Very responsive and professional; were able to use the "deal" to offset the cost of the repairs, and offered us some options for things we could do ourselves to make it less expensive at the end. they worked with our schedule and were here promptly to fix the plumbing issue. Great work; easy to work with!

David, the plumber who came, was very professional and very friendly. He first replaced the garbage disposal and then looked at the toilet. He needed to go get some parts for the toilet and returned promptly and fixed it. He showed me what was wrong and explained it to me why he needed to replace some parts. I would definitely use this company again.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. They charged us another $52 on top of the deal for usage of their machine which I wasn’t aware of and for some parts for the sink. The extra charge made sense for the sink because they didn’t do some parts but usage of the machine was kinda surprising. They did everything and were able to take care of the problem appropriately. We haven’t had a backup since then so it seems that everything went well. We don’t have a leak under the sink anymore so that’s a plus. They did a good job. They were pretty backed up on getting me scheduled. When they were 30 minutes late, they did call in advance and let me know up front.

We called and arranged for the service because of an Angie's List special that called for 2 hours of service for $90@ hour service charge. The plumber arrived on time, got to work right away and was making great progress until he encountered a problem with the bathtub. It turned out to be a problem beyond his experience so he called the boss for a consultation. The two of them looked over the situation, finally determined a section of bathtub pipe needed to be replaced, spent All Day on the job and left around 5p.m. It was a lot more time and effort than any of us expected and the best part of the deal is they stuck to the 2 hour charge though they spent all of Good Friday. on this one job.

It went very well. J & E was very busy so the owner came out to my house to install our new garbage disposal. Our new disposal was recommended by him and it is so quiet and very efficient.

I purchased a big deal from them and he gave an estimate. He said that it would only be for the flooring. He said that it would be much more expensive to have done what I needed to have done. Hard to tell if I would use them again since they did not perform the services.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was okay. I had to call them back on an incident because the gas line was leaking a little bit and they didn't check it. They came back really quickly. They were very nice and cordial. They seemed to clean up fairly well after themselves. They were prompt and on time.

They had to come back to fix something after the original job. They were very good about that. But then there was another problem that I felt should have been covered and it wasn't. I guess I understood after talking to the guy. The workers were very good and very professional.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went great. He was here on time. He's very prompt, very neat, very pleasant. He did an excellent job. I would recommend them.
