At J&E Plumbing, your emergency plumbing service, broken pipes, overflowing toilets, or flooded bathrooms are all typical cases in point. Even so, you shouldn't find a plumber in haste. Hurried decisions could often mean emergency plumbers that see fit to take advantage of your situation and consequently charge you much more than necessary.
At J&E Plumbing, we guarantee that any plumbing problem you encounter can be fixed quickly and at a reasonable price. Ready to serve you any time, day or night, we respond and arrive at your place quickly, as we know how distressed you feel during emergencies. We accept Visa and Mastercard. I took your call while in the car on the highway. I spoke with you about your repair and the information did not make it into the schedule book. This is my error. I apologize. We are a small shop and periodically get stretched thin taking care of emergency calls. This was unacceptable. If there is anything we can do to right this for you in the future please let me know. Once they showed up, the work was performed satisfactorilly. The owner and I spoke before I purchased the Angies list Big Deal and I guess we had a miscommunication as to the use and purpose of my buying the coupon because when we completed there were additional costs. I was not happy with my experience with J&E Plumbing and will not use their services again. I have many other options for plumbers.

The additional billing was the material used for the job. The job took no additional time and the customer was billed $89 for material. We supplied our time at a discounted rate for the coupon, the the laundry box, valves and piping are not included in a labor only "Big Deal" coupon.

Jeff is a great guy and a very professional plumber. He sent two plumbers to our house plus he came over himself! So, we got three professionals opinions at once which was cool! The quality of their service was great! They were done with the job very quick and they gave me lots of good advice on the plumbing of the house that I just bought! The only concern I had was that I had to pay extra on the top of the deal I purchased through angie's list BUT Jeff gave me an outstanding quote for the next job in my house which urgently needs to be done so it all even out! Overall great guys and they know their job! Jeff is very responsive and punctual! I am planing to be his regular customer!
Description of Work: I had laundry list :) Running toilet, leak in the basement, shower head replacements (two showers), toilet wax ring replacement, fridge ice maker hook up to the water line, whole house plumbing inspection. There were some more plumbing stuff that I can't remember now. The plumbers would not leave until everything they fixed started working properly!

Two plumbers arrived about 4 hours after my initial call to the company. They introduced themselves upon arrival, were polite, professional and obviously knew their work. Very efficiently unclogged one toilet, fixed a leak in a 2nd toilet and checked out the rest of my plumbing system to make sure everything was in order. Would definitely use them again. I felt very comfortable having them in my home. Glad I had purchased Angie's Big Deal ($119) several months earlier. It covered all the work done.

We initially called J & E Plumbing to fix our laundry room faucet, which was leaking. Harold came and fixed that immediately. It had been leaking for over a year. Not only did he fix that, but he found a problem with our bathroom faucet and promptly replaced that, too. We had wanted to replace it ourselves, but didn't know how. From there, he inspected the entire house and fixed every problem we had within the two hour time period. We had a kitchen sink with a spray handle that did not work. We ran out and purchased a new faucet and he was more than happy to replace it. Harold and Jeff have been more than accommodating. We now know more about the plumbing in our house than we have known in the seventeen years we have lived here. It's a good feeling to feel confident about the quality of the plumbing in our house. It is also a relief to know that if we should have any problems in the future, we know exactly who to call. Believe me, we have tried numerous plumbers, without being satisfied. I can say that we are truly satisfied with J & E Plumbing and will never hesitate to call them in the future. Our seventeen year quest for an excellent and honest plumber is over!
Description of Work: The deal was for two hours of plumbing labor plus a whole house plumbing inspection. I feel like we got that and more. He checked the entire house for any plumbing issues we had and either fixed them or informed us how to resolve issues he discovered.

It went very well, I called J& E Plumbing at 9:30 am to set a date. As luck goes, J & E just had a cancellation and they sent Harold out within the hour. I'd already cut an access opening on the interior wall, so it was quite easy to cut and remove old and then install the faucet and shutoff valve. Harold was very professional with his work and very personable in talking with me. He completed all in under two hours. I'm happy.

I purchased the Big Deal coupon to have someone come out and look at an upstairs bathroom sink that has been draining slow and water is barely coming out of the faucet. I contacted the number after I purchased the coupon and the person that answered the phone asked me to send an email because he was out on the job. So I emailed the details, had an email in response within 2-3 days confirming the date, time, address, services needed. I took off work to wait for the plumber to arrive. Someone was supposed to be there between 12-3. After no one showed up or called after three I called the main number twice with no answer, then called the alternative number twice. I left two voicemails. This was at 3:09. I did not get a call back until 4:30. The person said that he messed up the schedule, forgot it was a holiday, his helper called in sick. He had several different excuses. He said he was in Kirkwood on a job, asked me to text him my address and he'd be over. I text my address to the cell number, didn't receive a response. Text again about 6 asking if he was still on the way, no answer. About 4:15 when I hadn't heard back yet I sent an email saying that no one showed up and I had wanted my money back. Around 7 pm I get an email back saying he was waiting for my text and never got it and had gone home and just checked his email. I then called him immediately and told him I sent that email before hearing back from him and that I did send the text messages to his phone with my address. He said he never received, that when he got there I could check his phone etc... He said he would come out because I explained my plumbing issue was getting worse and I was afraid of any damage it might cause. He says he is going to eat real quick and head out. That's at 7. Then at 7:24 I get a text saying he would be at my house in 45 minutes. My house shouldn't have been but maybe a 25 minute drive that time of night with no traffic. I got the feeling he was wanting me to cancel by saying that he was going to be at my house THAT late and possibly spend two hours there. His later actions confirmed it. I text back and said that is too late for me, it would put him here maybe at 8 and leaving at 10 pm. I told him I expected him to be here within 20 minutes or so after his call and said that I guess I'd see about a refund from Angieslist. That text was at 7:26. I get a response at 7:29 that he is in Maryland Heights and 33 minutes away. I text back within minutes, "Ok if you can head over I'd appreciate it. I just didn't want it to be really late because of work in the morning. I'll be here." Then at 7:37 he said " Based on your last email I have already turned around and highway headed back home. I think for now we should probably part ways." Then he included some crap about me saying jump, him saying how high and then saying don't bother. That's crap, it was like a text fight with a teenager. He couldn't even call me to tell me he was turning around and that we need to part ways. He was done trying to solve his error and he just wanted to go home and not do anymore work. First, I only sent one email expressing being upset and wanting my money back and told him that was before he had responded to me so I don't know what email he was referring to by based on your last email. Yes there was a communication breakdown but I had responded when he said he was 33 minutes away to come on out. Then he just decides to turn around and text me back saying we need to part ways. I think if you run a professional business you would know how to schedule your appointments, regardless of when people are sick. I received no phone call until an hour and half after my appointment was missed, the appointment was scheduled two weeks in advance and included my address and phone number. And then I wait from noon and finally at 8 pm the conversations and ordeal with us are over. I believe this was unprofessional and at first he wanted to solve HIS mistake and then he just got tired for the day and wanted me to cancel on him so he could go home. He said I could reschedule the next day when they opened in the morning and I told him this was my only day off that I was available to do this, hence the two week in advance scheduling. Plus who would want someone in their house doing work after that entire ordeal? A professional company would have called back to talk to me if they were going to turn around and not come out. Not text. So now I have to find a plumber that has an appt available around 4:30 so I can get this work done since my half day off was completely wasted. Hopefully Angieslist gives me my $99 back because I will need it to pay another plumber that shows up when expected. I'm sure he doesn't care about one F being on his rating and will most likely explain after this is submitted that this is my fault somehow. I had every right to be mad and frustrated and gave him a chance to come out after hours and fix the problem. The entire ordeal was unacceptable.

Jeff came to the rescue of my DIY plumbing project. DIY plumbing rule...never start a plumbing project in the evening, when you run into problems and need parts, hardware stores close, and then you have no water until the next day. So, started my plumbing project around noon, plenty of time to get to the hardware store if/when I run into trouble. Simple project, remove three caps I sweated on a couple of weeks ago and install shutoff valves. Done this plenty of times in the past. Should take 30 minutes max. An hour later, one cap removed, 2 annealed in place and stumped on what to do next. Now what, go to Angie's List to find a plumber on Sunday. Again, should be simple, find a plumber with 24/7 emergency service in my area. Not so easy, not many plumbers have 24/7 emergency service. Jeff does, called him, told him what my problem was, and he was at my front door within an hour. Thirty minutes later, caps off, shutoff valves installed, and no leaks! Some may think $150 is pricey, Jeff told me on the phone he charged $150 minimum on Sundays, but with the prospect of no water Sunday evening/Monday morning, this was money well spent. Thanks Again Jeff!

I had gotten a bid from a different plumber ,when a friend of mine suggested I call J&E Plumbing .I was glad I did. Jeff came in and was very professional, gave me a bid that was lower than the original one (without me telling him that I had received the other bid) Jeff and Gary did a great job on a difficult bathroom .He replace part of my sub floor re-tiled the floor ,replaced and re-tiled the shower and replaced the vanity ( he was able to reuse the toilet) He had to tear out some of the dry wall and he did and replaced it so you cant tell it was ever repaired All in all they did a great job ,did it quickly and cleaned up nicely. I have had numerous compliments on my new bathroom and would recommend J&E Plumbing to anyone looking for this kind of service. I will defiantly keep his number in my phone directory. Thank You J&E Plumbing !!!!

This was the perfect deal for us - we had poor water pressure in our kitchen, a loose toilet and a toilet not flushing properly. J&E resolved all three problems in approximately two hours, which was covered by the Angie's List deal we had purchased. The only additional charge was for the parts to fix the kitchen sink - a couple of valves and hoses. So, the $175ish was the cost of the deal plus $40 for parts. And, they showed up a few minutes early. Overall an excellent experience.

The plumber did a very good job replacing the kitchen faucet. He cleaned up after himself and left the area in good shape. The plumber replaced the wax ring seal for the toilet, initially it looked okay, he cleaned up and left within the two hours allotted in the initial Angie's list deal. We noticed afterwards the toilet wasn't level and would rocked when seated on. In addition, the toilet leaked from a different location from the initial leak. A couple days later, we called the plumbing company and explained what was wrong with the toilet; they sent a two man crew out that day to fix these two issues. The crew pulled the toilet, installed another wax ring that we had to supply. They reinstalled the toilet, it was now level and did not rocked however there was still a leak that wasn't there before! They told us new tank bolts were needed to fix the leak and went to the hardware store to purchase a set. After replacing the tank bolts and tank gasket and the leak still exists. They showed me where the tank was leaking and said we needed a new tank. They cleaned up and left. No offer to replace the tank was given. What had happen is the tank was cracked during the mishandling of toilet in the removal and install of the first wax ring. Now we have a cracked tank that needs to be replaced or the whole toilet! Not what we're expecting to do when we hired the company to replace the wax ring seal. The reason for the overall D score and not an F is we liked the job that was done on the kitchen faucet.

He started by telling me what he THOUGHT the problem was. Turns out he was wrong. He never finished the job, really never started the job.
Description of Work: Jeff sent Gary out to my home to diagnose and repair a leaky kitchen faucet on 12/7. After 45 minutes, he told me the issue was a faulty sprayer attachment and that it would cost "a lot" extra to have him go purchase the piece and install it. He told me I could repair it and that would fix the problem. Gary left and told me that since I only used 45 minutes of the two hour coupon I purchased, he would come back if the problem persisted. I repaired it and it kept leaking. I called him back out the following Friday, he found a separate leak in the head of the faucet itself. This time, I asked him to use the remaining time I had purchased and go ahead and get the supplies and fix the faucet. He told me the supply store was five miles away and that he would return to complete the job. After an hour and 10 minutes had passed waiting on him, I called Jeff, who told me a completely different story than Gary - and that the second service call was not covered under the coupon and that I would be responsible for paying the entire charge. Basically, I paid for two hours of work and got no work accomplished, I had to contract a second plumber to do the work they didn't do. I would not recommend calling J&E Plumbing.

Response from J & E Plumbing
GOOD LESSON TO LEARN. When you hire a professional tradesman to work on your home allow them to do the job and complete the job. Because, when the homeowner decides to handle the recommended repair themselves we, the company, cannot warranty the homeowner’s work. Especially when they cause additional repairs. Our big deal offer is clear, 1- service call up to 2 hours, not multiple 15 min service calls. In addition, it is clear that you did the additional damage yourself because you waited 1 week to call us back and asked us to replace the faucet that you broke while trying to do the repair that we recommended. J&E stands behind our work and our people. Gary receives nothing but good or great reviews from every other client he works for.

I purchased J&E's deal on Angie's List for a Service call, 2 hours of labor and a whole home plumbing inspection. I mostly wanted the 2 hrs of labor since I knew I had one bad drain and a rusty flange and sink stopper that needed to be replaced, however, I am glad the inspection was done as I found out my garbage disposal was cracked and leaking. That needed to be replaced as well and some of the time from the 2 hrs purchased that was left over from the sink repair was applied to this. The plumber that was sent (Gary) did very good work and was efficient. I am glad Jeff offered this deal...it saved me money on the labor and found a problem that even my home inspector missed. For that as well as the good work, I will be calling J&E for my future plumbing needs. UPDATE- As part of the inspection, the plumber sent also found that my kitchen sink sprayer was broken. Jeff let me know this item was still under warranty and he would take care of ordering me a new one. The plumber told him the wrong finish, so when the sprayer arrived a few weeks later, it wasn't the right one. When I contacted Jeff about this, he offered to order the re-correct one. Almost 2 months went by and I heard nothing and did not receive my sprayer. I followed up via email several times and was ignored. At the end of March, I finally got a response to yet another email and he again offered to resolve the issue and pick up a sprayer the following Monday. Since that time, I have emailed twice asking if it was ready and again, NO RESPONSE. While based on the initial appointment, I would have called J&E plumbing again, I can no longer say I will do business with them. While the initial offer to take care of my warranty issue was gracious, if you're not actually going to follow through don't make the offer. I would have replaced it myself months ago and not dealt with a broken sprayer for 4 months if I had known Jeff was going to drop the ball. And deliberately and blatantly ignoring a customer's repeated requests for status on a commitment you made is highly unprofessional! I will be finding another plumber for future needs.
