I received many bids before going with Freedom Midwest. His competitive pricing and the fact they were willing to do the tear off of the old cedar siding was important to me. Our old siding was in horrible shape and most companies wanted to just put the new siding over it, which I was uncomfortable with. He was patient with me while I was making a final decision on the color of the siding I wanted. He kept me up to date on the materials, and answered any questions I had along the way. When the crew started work, they worked long days, never leaving the job with our house exposed to the elements. They were some of the hardest working contractors I've ever witnessed. The finished product was immaculate. The siding all lays flat as it should. It turned out so beautiful, we have received so many compliments. If I had to do it all over again, I would absolutely still go with Freedom Midwest. Highly recommended.

Hal was very responsive, kept in touch with me throughout the projects. I needed to have some trees trimmed before his crew started and Hal was very patient while we waited on the tree trimming crew (over a 2 month wait) for the tree work to be done. Hal is amazing! He was the 4th bid we had for our job. Not only was his bid several thousand dollars cheaper, he is the only one that actually taught us about siding and the different levels/ varieties available. If we asked his opinion, we felt he gave us honest input. Due to rainy weather, our job began after the anticipated start date- something he had no control over. He had told us the job would be completed in 2 1/2 days. It actually only took 2 full days. Excellent company. Hal (owner) made everything easy and stress free. Very knowledgeable and informative. He even helped with the insurance claim for the roof. We had an emergency siding repair need related to selling our house, and Hal really came through for us. Checked online for company with best references and found Freedom Midwest Gutters and Siding, LLC. The owner, Hal Knapp, provided me with addresses of houses his company had put siding on, including one in the exact color and design I was interested in. Checked all 4 references provided and found the work to be exceptional. Decided to go with Mr. Knapp. I'm glad I did. From the start, Hal was definitely on top of my project. He helped interface with my insurance company and secured me larger payment amounts for several areas the insurance company needed to increase. His knowledge of the business and the insurance claims procedure enabled me to get a much larger payment from the insurance company. He always had material needed on site and ready to go when needed. And a word about his work crew. The guys on the crew arrived every day an hour early. They worked straight through, skipping breaks, took short lunches, worked until dusk every day. Talk about old-time pride and workmanship! They never left a mess at the end of the day, no trash in the yard, no radio blasting loud music, no cigarette butts. I was present for each day and checked at the end of the day for any problems. There weren't any! These guys did it right the first time. They even found a construction flaw from when the house was originally built and corrected it without missing a beat. Hal was on hand every day, making sure material was ready, checking for little things like fasteners, caulk, etc. Everyone seemed to be on top of the job. I have seen many work crews in the neighborhood over the years, but I have never seen a crew this good or a job run this well. I'm very glad I found Freedom Midwest Windows and Siding, LLC. Our home was built in 1979, and the original siding was replaced in December, 1994. In 2015, a hail storm damaged our roof, and a few pieces of the siding that was installed in 1994. After filing a claim with my homeowners' insurance, I hired a contractor to repair the damage to our roof and siding. After lots of delays, the contractor that I hired finally replaced our roof in October, 2016, and I paid him for this part of the claim in full. He was, however, unable to find siding that matched the few pieces that were damaged by hail. Once I indicated to the contractor that I would not accept siding that didn't match the rest of my home, the contractor became unreachable. He would not return my many telephone calls, texts or emails. Since the contractor choose to not be interested in completing his work for me, I consulted Angie's List and found lots of very positive reviews for Freedom Midwest Windows and Siding, L.LC. After my contractor failed to reach out for me a final time, I wrote him an email and fired him. While I liked our former contractor as an individual, firing him turned out to be a very good thing because I met Hal Knapp, the owner of Freedom Midwest. After hearing me tell my story about how my former contractor treated me, Hal said "Why don't you turn the adjuster's report over to me, and let me deal with the insurance company as your advocate". From that point on, Hal took over everything. His biggest contributions were to convince the insurance company to 1) include all siding in my claim (and not just the few pieces that were hail damaged), 2) increase the rate of the job that appeared in the adjuster's report and 3) get the insurance company to pay for a supplement to cover insulation that was necessary to insure that our new siding would be energy efficient. In addition, Hal checked on the job frequently during the installation of our new siding, followed up to make sure that I was satisfied that repairs to my home were completed before he required me to pay him in full, and communicated with me each and every step of the way. I was treated very well by Freedom Midwest, and I will go out of my way to do business with them again.

Excellent Job. Hal spent over two hours with us explaining what he would do and suggesting ideas that really brought the house together in the end. His prices were so competitive with the advertised companies that we were able to upgrade to a higher quality product. His subcontractors were professional and very good at what they do. Hal was over to our house as soon as the last worker left and was inspecting the work. Noticing a couple of things not quite right after the siding went up he had already contacted the sub and had them come over and finish the project. Afterwards I noticed an outside outlet was not working and Hal had an electrician over to our house within two hours to fix it. Hal is on top of it. He knows what he is doing and takes pride in a job well done and will see the job through till all involved are satisfied. From the consultation to completion, every step was carefully planned, skillfully and promptly executed, and questions and any concerns immediately addressed. It went extremely well. The workers arrived at 6:30 and worked till 7:30 or 8:00. Well organized, effiencent and committed to quality craftsmanship. I have always looked at a roof as a functional necessity. However, Hal the owner offered a choice of architectural shingles for the roof. The roof is actually beautiful! It has depth, color and shading that makes it stand out in an understated but striking way. It took about half a day for the roof to be finished. The siding took about 2 1/2 days to finish. A different crew installed the siding, but with the same drive and attention to detail. This is a modest ranch home whose curb appeal was greatly enhanced by the crisp clean lines of the new siding. The fluted aluminum columns are beautiful. The white soffit and fascias were expertly installed and provide a subtle contrast to the beige siding. Over all, I'm pleased with the look of the work. The house looks new. Landscaping is next. Too bad, Freedom Midwest doesn't do flower beds and ornamental shrubs, so for now I'll have to be satisfied with quality workmanship at a fair price. It was difficult to find someone willing to do a smaller job, but back in January, Hal helped me out thankfully. The siding is nearly 11 years old so to find the exact match was difficult, but Hal did a great job of finding a really, really close match. The contractor who actually did the work was very quick, courteous, paid attention to detail, and cleaned up well after completing the job. There was an issue with a corner piece that he immediately brought to attention of both Hal and me. He did a great job of 'making it work'. I would definitely make the call to Freedom Midwest if I ever need work again.

We didn't want to finance the soffits when we built 5 years ago, so we were looking for a trustworthy contractor to do the work. The experience with Hal was great from start to finish. He came out and did his measurements without giving an in-person sales pitch and came out with his offer. After meeting with 2 other contractors in high pressure sales pitches, I talked to a close friend who's done siding work before, and not only did he say the way Hal did his estimate was the most appropriate and professional way, but his price was reasonable, his materials of good quality, and he didn't try to up-sell me on labor that was unnecessary. After meeting with Hal in person, signing the contract, and paying 10% down, his crew was out in less than 2 weeks. Delivery of materials was day 1, and day 2 they did the entire house, 7am-7pm. The workmanship looks great, and the outside of our house finally looks finished. To top it all off, my dog loved Hal right off the bat, and Hal even got down on the floor and played with him. For anyone that owns a dog, that's a glowing recommendation right there. I'd call Hal again in a heartbeat for any other exterior work we need done on our house.
