Great. Jim was great about communicating with us, did what he said he would do, and the cost was right. I would recommend this company to anyone.

It was the most wonderful experience we've ever had with a contractor.  Jim and his crew worked hard every day they were able to work (regarding the weather).  It took nearly five weeks and every day when they left, they swept the sidewalk, driveway and porch. The new landscape included:  two new retaining walls, artistically designed with a bubbler between the upper and lower walls; a new walkway that flowed with the walls and created with paver-stones; paver-stone porch with overhang; and, of course new plants and sod; and outdoor lighting..  It is absolutely beautiful.  We live in a cul-de-sac and our house is visible from the main street and when it was initially completed, people would drive around the cul-de-sac and stop in front of our house.  I would have liked a nickle for each car that stopped.  In addition, our neighbors also really like the final result.  What an improvement over our old landscaping which was ugly.  I would recommend Clancy Brothers Landscape Co. for any sized landscaping job.  They were so nice that I really missed them when they left.  Jim was always so approachable, answering my many questions and discussing possibilities as the project proceeded.  Great work from great people.

We went downtown here and they had a consumer’s show where vendors came out to it. That is where we found them. It is a family-owned business. So, you deal directly with the family. You do not have other people coming around. They really did not hire any other employees to do the work. They are strictly-family and that really stood out. They took their work seriously and they took pride in their work.

Jim Clancy worked with me to schedule construction as soon as possible after we closed on our new construction home. His design was well thought out and clearly communicated, We had a variety of choices for the pavers.
Construction began days after we closed. The Clancy design included a solid base - rock and rebar'ed concrete pad as the base. It is designed and built to last.
Jim and his brother, Tim, and father, Tim, past close attention to detail and look - cutting shims from the retaining stones, adding additional reinforcing mesh along the top surface, sealing the upper level with insulating foam. We are very pleased with the finished product.

High quality and excellent attention to detail. Honored all commitments. I became aware of the company by visiting the St. Louis home show and saw their patio display. Work took about 2 weeks including the delays due to heavy rains.
Not only did they do all the work that was specified, but also they did work that I did not call out, but made sense. Basically, they treated the job as if they were doing it for their own home. Also, they made suggestions (such as some wall lights) that enhanced the overall job. They were very careful in doing their best to minimize damage to my lawn, which was no easy task given the heavy equipment and distance to my back yard.
In summary, a rare very positive contracting experience all around. I had no suggestions for improvement for them.

They were fine. I was very pleased with them. It's a small whole family business with 3 sons and their dad and mom. They are a small organization, but their price was good. I have no complaints about them. They worked in 100 degrees plus heat worrying me that they were going to keel over but they didn't. They were very pleasant and did what I asked them to do. I am glad I used them. I offered to pay them cash and they liked that too. That helps with the price. It all worked out very well and I would recommend them highly. The mom answers the phone and relays the message to them. They don't have plants themselves. They buy plants from somebody else. They do not have a nursery per se. They did the work in the summer in the heat when the temperature was 102 or 103. I offered the house for them. I didn't care how dirty they were, I was worried about them. They said they might go in the basement, but they didn't. They sat under a little tree and had their lunch. I guess they didn't want to come in and go back out because of the air-conditioning. It was a horrible summer. They didn't make the fireplace. Originally I talked to a guy from Illinois that was at the home show and it was his fireplace on display. I thought I was going to hire him. He called me and told me he couldn't get to me but the Clancy boys would get the fireplace and come over and do the work. I had met them at the home show and talked to them. It was the same price. The fireplace cost $2300.00 and it's all made. I told the Clancys that I wanted some stone inserted in the fireplace and I wanted a ledge because it was a small fireplace. They did that with brick and put the stone in there. They didn't build the fireplace from scratch. Not that they couldn't, but that was the perfect size that I wanted. They were friends with the fireplace guy so everything worked out great. They did build the patio. They did a wonderful job on that and even made suggestions. Clancys did not draw out detail. I think that is important. They talked about it and measured. It worked out beautifully for me, but they could have been a little more detailed in drawing out their plan. The sons are fairly young. The one son who did the bidding and the talking to me and actually ran the bulldozer and laid the flagstone could have been a little more detailed. I am sure if I asked him, he would have done it. He didn't really draw up very much on paper. We talked but he didn't write down enough detail. As far as politeness and talking money, he was upfront all the way and I liked that. They did some work they could have charged extra and they didn't. I had had another guy bidding but I didn't go any further with him because his price was way over Clancy's. I think Clancys price was fair enough. They were a little late coming in to do my job. They told me they couldn't get to me till the end of July because they were working on some other job. They didn't get to me until the second week of August. I understood that, but I had waited a long time and I was anxious. They were willing to please me and do anything I suggested. When I thought there should be more fillers between the bricks in some areas, they agreed with that and they saw to that. They were a great family to deal with.

-They were supposed to come back in the spring to re-glaze my patio. I called them in the spring to have them do this and they never got back with me. I am very dissappointed in this.
