Cardinal Blinds and Shutters was started by my father Phil and I. We each invested $300. Dad and I worked hard with the goal of providing quality window coverings with outstanding service to the greater St. Louis Metropolitan area. We have grown to include other family members. We are located in beautiful West County, but our service extends to the entire St. Louis metropolitan area. The company has grown to include 3 generations of one family and through God's blessing and our commitment to treat people the way we would like to be treated, Cardinal Blinds and Shutters hopes to become your #1 source for all of your window decor' needs. We are a customer-focused company. We strive with each customer to do certain things that we ourselves would appreciate if we were in the customer's position-return phone calls promptly, show up on time for appointments, provide honest, straightforward advice, rectify any issues or concerns in a timely fashion, keep the customer informed throughout the buying process-generally, do the things we ourselves would want. There are 3 cornerstones that summarize our company's philosophy: 1. Knowledge, 2. Honesty, and 3. Service. We are a Centurion dealer for Hunter Douglas. From start to finish the process of choosing and installing my Hunter Douglas blinds in my new house went well. Susan was extremely helpful in choosing the products. She also has quite a design eye. The installation also went very smoothly. My products are now working perfectly. I can't say enough good things about this company. Their customer service is among the best I've encountered.

This is a GREAT company, They did an excellent job of installing my windows a few years ago. Recently I had my windows replaced and Cardinal Blinds and Shutters took down my shades prior to the window installation and then re-hung them. They were able to do this quickly so I wouldn't be without privacy after the new windows were installed. There was no charge for this service.
Description of Work: I had window treatments made and installed for all of my condo windows.

Description of Work: These folks do a fantastic job and that's why we've used them twice. I'd love to do more windows but the products are very expensive. Their prices are competitive but not significantly different than any of their competitors, thus my "C" rating on price. Great service, average prices equals a "B", above average, but not an outstanding overall rating.

Regarding competitive prices on our products, some of the things that don't show up on a price quote that we do not charge extra for are a five year-no questions asked warranty, no charge for service calls during those five years, free replacement of broken parts and complimentary temporary privacy shades installed prior to your products being delivered. Description of Work: I wanted Green Guard certified blinds in our house, we were due with our first baby and I did not want anything that would off-gas. I went with Hunter-Douglas blinds, got estimates from several area blind companies and theirs was the best. Service was great, very friendly and professional. We had them come install around my due date, I could of waited but I just wanted the blinds up ASAP so I could check that off before baby came. Well of course they morning they were scheduled to come I went into labor! They were very sweet about coming back the next week, and very courteous about installing with a new baby in the house.

The company has been very professional and helpful. My advice would be to go with the Hunter Douglas name brand since there is a better warranty on their product. One of our Timber Blinds broke (the cord) and thankfully Cardinal Blind fixed it for us for free. I appreciate that because the product was not that old. The Hunter Douglas blind broke a few weeks after the Timber Blind did and luckily Hunter Douglas warranties their product for life and fixed it for free. (Repairing the Timber Blind was at Cardinal Blind's cost, not Timber Blind's) We did order more honeycomb shades through them recently this year and were hoping to also find roman shades to purchase. We didn't proceed with the roman shades because I didn't like any of their fabric choices.

I met with Amy of Cardinal Blinds at my home. She arrived promptly and prepared. She had many options of good quality products to offer me with a variety of price ranges for us to choose from. I was pleased with so many colors and qualities of products they offer. She is very knowledgeable about the manufacturers she represents and each of their products. After consulting with my husband, we have chosen the products we want to order. We have not made the final purchase but from what I know of this company, their high integrity, their attention to detail, their professionalism and genuine desire to please their customers, I have no doubts or concerns that would interfere with my continuing to do business with Cardinal Blinds and Shutters.
Description of Work: Provided vertical blinds for breakfast nook and a Solar Vue Island shade for my home office.

For our first job, Amy (the owner) came over with samples. She was knowledgeable about the products and was helpful in making a selection. We could tell that she had good taste, or at least we felt that her taste was aligned with ours. She wrote up a proposal promptly and we approved it. Her husband (the installer) came over when the shades were ready and did a great job putting them in. We've been happy with the product. This was a good experience. The experience was so good that when we were considering installing blinds in another part of our house, we called Cardinal Blinds and Shutters again. This time they sent another one of their employees. The consultant did not seem to really know her products well; she kept pointing out that this was OK because the installer would be coming to check her measurements anyway, before doing the work. However, her uncertainty about whether product X would physically work in window Y was really distracting and made us feel that this appointment, which we had rearranged our day to accommodate, was not worthwhile. We didn't personally click with this consultant the way we did with Amy. This person had some irritating mannerisms, including continually referring to shutters as "window fashions", insinuating that we would probably want to go with the cheaper options, mistaking my mother-in-law for my wife (35 year age difference) and being insensitive to the fact that it was clearly dinnertime and time to wrap up despite my many hints. We decided not to approve this bid, partly because some money we expected to receive did not materialize (which we explained to the consultant) and partly because we just didn't have confidence in the bid. We've nonetheless now received three follow-up emails "helpfully" reminding us that we might want to do the work (complete with patronizing comments about how energy-efficient the new shutters will be and how we should be getting ready for holiday entertaining). I tried to send the message gently but at this point, I don't know how else to say it: this woman is becoming pushy. I liked Cardinal Blinds and Shutters a lot better before they hired this new consultant. If you call them, insist that they send Amy out and you will be very happy with her work.
Description of Work: Installed roman shades in a bedroom (4 windows). Provided an estimate for other work on the main floor.

On installation day, the installer showed up and was extremely clean and professional. He took extra care to make certain everything was correct and cleaned up after himself thoroughly. He was very pleasant as well. The blinds and shutters look great. they are exactly what my Mother-in-law wahted and she is very pleased with them. This was a good company to deal with.
Description of Work: This is a Character reference. I have seen first hand the blinds and shutters they provide. they did a a\fair amount of work at my In-Laws house. They were very knowledgeable and professional. They talked to my Mother-in-law at length to determine not only what products she was interested in but also how she intended on using them. They offered alternatives and did not push the most expensive items. They went over all aspects of what their products would provide and even mentioned a few install difficulties because of the architecture of the windows. They made a fair quote and my In-Laws made the deal.

Thanks [member name removed]! One of the most important aspects of serving our customers is professional installations. We wear foot covers, clean clean up any debris or old window treatments and dispose of them. Even our vans get cleaned inside and out before they hit the road most days.

I was impressed with the professional approach to the entire job. First impression to sales lady(Amy) was great...She gave us several options and prices. After window shades were ordered they kept us informed of shipping and installation schedules. Installation was performed on schedule with a skilled installer who was helpful on all the questions I had about caring for my new window shades.. Product quality was very good.

I received a postcard offer of 25% off shutter and blind installation from Cardinal. They are a local, family owned business and I needed new shutters and blinds, so I gave them a call. They came out and I told them what I needed. They gave me a price and I placed the order. A week later I realized I forgot to tell them about the 25% off postcard. I called them and told them about the postcard and asked for the discount to be applied. She pointed out that there was a line on the contract that said that all discounts have been applied. They would not honor the 25% discount. I was upset, but I was also stuck. Also, the blinds they sold me for my bedroom are so poor at blocking light that the light from my driveway gaslight comes into my bedroom, but not as badly as the morning sun. They are about as good at blocking light as a Kleenex. They did tell me that they weren't lack out curtains, but they did assure me they would keep most of the light out. Obviously, they don't. Even though they appear to be a nice, honest Father and Daughter company, I don't think Cardinal Blinds and Shutters is what they appear. They did a very poor job at recommending a good product for my needs and I was not happy about them not being willing to apply their own discount.

When Amy and I met with [member name removed], we asked him how he heard about us. Louis stated that he received a postcard in the mail, so we applied the 25% discount, which the postcard entitled him to, on our proposal and we circled on our proposal that the discount had been applied. When I became aware that [member name removed] was unhappy with the product he selected, I offered to come back and let him make a different selection of room darkening product and install it at no cost for product or installation. He turned down our offer. Amy and I take our motto seriously, "If it's not right, we'll make it right!" After 5 years in business, this is the first complaint that has been registered which we have not resolved to the customer's satisfaction. We are still willing to put other product into [member name removed] windows.
