The price they quoted was very fair as I have checked with other contractors they installed 5 inches of concrete where the other companies were only wanting to put in 4 Inches It was a large three car driveway with approach and they did a great job if I was looking for someone to do concrete work for me I would give them a call

I was incredibly impressed with their responsiveness and the quality of their workmanship. They were also extremely helpful in creating a design that matched my vision of the remodel I am doing on my new office. I highly recommend this company for your concrete needs. They were very easy to work with and produce a top notch product!

This is an update on a previous poor review. I heard from the company with an estimate of the work I requested. They explained they were working hard to get back with me and had a very high volume of estimates to go through at the current time.

From the time you meet Doug Ortmann, you know you are dealing with someone that is detail oriented. They received a straight "A" rating from us for all the reasons listed on the report card (price, quality, responsiveness, etc.). The concrete work force knows what they're doing, and Doug always oversees the project and has hands on. The other huge plus is the knowledgeable office work force. They are a wealth of info about payments, schedules, getting answers etc. We were so impressed with Ortmann that we are having them install new steps, patio, walkway, and double driveway, on a rental property we own, a project we have been pushing off until now. We would highly recommend Ortmann and would suggest at least calling if you need cement work.

We were on a tight schedule to try and get this in prior to school beginning August 17th. It could not have gone any smoother from the initial call, consult and crew coming out...in fact, they even came out on a Saturday since Mother Nature was not cooperating! Install went great! The crew was knowledgeable and communicated very well as the job progressed.

Great! Efficient. Friendly. Transparent. I had no idea what to expect, as I have never had concrete repaired prior to this. I contacted several different places to discuss lifting, repairing, or replacing the concrete. In the end, Ortmann offered a great price and I could not be happier! They communicated well with me the whole way through and I am so happy with the final product. They even worked with me to find someone to replace the hand rail on the front stairs, even though they do not do this work.

Came out in early May to look at job. Waited 2 weeks and then left a message asking about bid. To this day (over 2 months) not a word. Two other contractors provided a bid within a week. If you are too busy, we prefer to just be told that. Would not ever call again or recommend.

Only to get a bid. Well I didn't use them once, so I would say no. I needed something done, and needed it done quickly. The guy who came out gave me the bid, could take care of it, and get it done. When I was ready to ok it and do it,the lady in the office said oh no, they couldn't do it that soon.

The job was fantastic! OCI did an excellent job at suggesting design options and colors. The workers were extremely polite and professional. They went above and beyond!

All work was completed as promised and on time.

The results are beautiful! Doug Ortmann is an artist! We have wonderful curb appeal now! I featured our great photos on Facebook because we're so happy with the outcome. Doug took time with my husband, to understand his vision for the project. The Ortmann team was courteous and the office support was great, too. They even wheel-barrowed the concrete for the back patio rather than risking tearing up the yard.

They did a professional job & even exceeded our expectations. I would use their services again & recommend them to others.

The job went great. They meet with you to go over everything and explain how things will be done and what the customer is responsible for. They explain all the different types and designs available and the cost of each. Once the concrete is poured they came back and removed the forms and started the sealing process. The next day they came and cleaned up the job. They also provided a lien waiver with the invoice. They were Great to work with.

They were waiting for me when I came home at the pre-arranged time. The owner asked what I needed and then made some very good suggestions based on what I wanted. We have some crumbling steps and were interested in improving the arrangement of the porch and steps. When I mentioned that my wife had expressed some interest in adding a roof over the porch, Doug.Ortmann explained how this wouldn't be as hard to do as I had thought. The next day I received a detailed estimate and an insurance certificate in my email. At this point I am still awaiting one other scheduled appointment before we make our decision, but I am impressed so far with this company and wouldn't hesitate to use them.

Overall, it went well and looks great. Only disappointment was the finish of the fence post holes. That piece is not up to par with the rest of their work, but overall we are really pleased.

A contract was entered on June 29. We were given a start date of 9-8-14. Given the weather and some difficulties the owners were having, we did not complain when Ortman Concrete Inc (OCI) did not start job until October 6; concrete was poured on October 8. They told us they were "fitting us in" as best they could and were in a complete hurry to finish. The drainage pipe work that was done wasn't exactly what we asked them to do but we accepted what they had done. Within 2 weeks of their "completion" of the work, cracks started, particularly at the sole step in the sidewalk. The expansion joints they installed look terrible and appear to have dried concrete or calcium all over them. Stain will never cover the calcium we have learned.The tan coloring was a complete mess. Some of the concrete was tan, other parts were /are stark white. Splotches appear throughout; but the main discoloration is in the picture frame border. Wood framing had been left in place in several places along the walkway. After a number of calls, the owner came out on November 9. He patched the crack at the step, tried to clean the expansion joints and told us the discoloration was due to the fact that more curing time was required. He also applied a sealer which he said would rectify much of the color problem. None of what he did solved the problem. Each time OCI comes out, they are always in a hurry. We asked another concrete vendor to look at the work. He categorized it as slovenly and not up to professional standards. The OCI statement that the discoloration was due to needing more curing time he said was "hogwash". He also said that we had received "a slip-shod job with poor workmanship." The cracking at the base of the step he stated was due to the step not being adequately being jointed to support the weight of the step. The warranty on the sidewalk work is stated to be one year. The sidewalk looks terrible. We are embarrassed to have our family and friends use the sidewalk to our front door. I'm a retired CPA and, quite frankly, the job looks like I did it rather that some company supposed to be skilled in such work. I have called OCI twice in December asking them to call to discuss the matter and how it was going to be remedied. OCI does not return my calls. The last call was made on December 16. We are completely dissatisfied with the job OCI did. We just want them to complete the work as agreed to without, cracks, discoloration, and inappropriately color expansion joints, even if that means ripping it all out and redoing the concrete work. If the problems are corrected we will be satisfied. In not, we will NEVER use OCI again , wall advise anyone who sees the work of our dissatisfaction, and will ask that this report be posted on the Angie's List website for all of the St. Louis metro area to see and be forewarned. We will also post this in our annual subdivision preferred vendor bulletin. We will also see what legal remedies are available to us. As it stands now, OCI gets an "F" for every facet of the project except for Pricing. Their bids were reasonable and it was their bid and being on Angie's List that cause us to select OCI for the work. Unfortunately, the work was/is the worst!

We chose Ortmann Concrete for their competitive estimate and good presentation. We agreed on the project in early July but due to their busy work load the project was scheduled in September. After a few more days of delay due to heavy rain, the Ortmann crew started and finished the patio in just a few days. Just when we thought that the work was finished, the crew came back and laid new sod where our lawn was damaged. They also erected the fence to suit the new layout of the patio. In addition, they replaced two old corrugated pipes with new PVC drain pipes before pouring the concrete. Ortmann Concrete did a high quality job. They went beyond what we expected to build our huge patio. The crew were very professional with their attitude and were well-mannered. We will call them again when we're ready to replace our driveway.

Doug did a great job! I needed a sidewalk to connect my front and back sidewalks. Ortmann had a deal and I worked with them to get exactly what I needed it. Unlike the other people I got bids from, Doug listened. He actually asked me questions about how I wanted it all done, got the background, and laid out specific plans to meet my goals. He gave me a timeline for what needed to be done, when it would get done, and how it would get done. His crew was professional and friendly and never anything less than hardworking. They excavated the area, graded it and laid down concrete. Doug and his guys laid it all out and it looks amazing. They worked great with the other contractors I had working at the time and their work is outstanding. I'll be using Doug again.

we started in may when I made the purchase the contractor had a rep come and survey the project then a week later I got an email telling me that it would be the week of 8/25 when he was coming to do the work. That week came and went so I emailed and was told first week of Sept by email. Again no show so I called this time and was told that it would be the end of the next week and then a week later. Friday I called and spoke to Doug who said he would be working all weekend and would be there Monday afternoon at 3pm Monday afternoon no show so I called asked when he would be coming explained I need to know if he was interested if not I would like a refund he said the check would be in the mail and hung up. I am surprised that Angies list offered the discount coupon and that a provided this poor contractor access to its members through sponsoring the promotion

We have been needing and talking about getting a patio in our back yard for almost ten years. We didn't want the simple boring concrete slab poured in the back, we wanted something with a little flare. I was dreading the whole process, thinking it would take days and days to complete with nothing but a huge mess left for us to clean up. This was not the case at all, 2-3 days it was done with nothing for us to clean up or do when they left.

Doug promply came out to assess the work we had wanted performed. He provided great suggestions on the concrete textures and colors that provded invaluable to the outcome of the project. Doug was easy to work with and very knowledgeable of his trade. Further, he bid the project in it's entirety, which went beyond just pouring concrete (other contractors simply pour concrete and would not perform sealing, landscaping, burying the downspouts, etc...). Project started and finished pretty much per schedule (while working around unavoidable weather delays). Job site was always clean and crew make every effort to avoid a major disruption outisde of the immediate work area. The final product was much better than we would anticipated and we are enjoying it immensely.
