Outstanding service! Dan was great - called back within hours of my initial call, and was able to begin repair work the next day. His prices are reasonable, and he takes the time to explain each step involved. We love our new door - works perfectly. You can tell it was installed by a true craftsman who takes great pride in his work. Will definitely use Dan again in the future if the need arises. Thanks, Dan!!

We had water in our basement after a plumbing problem. Dan came out after the insurance adjuster was there and gave me a price to remove all the carpet, pad, base trim and window trim. Dan's estimate was perfect I even had some money left over to upgrade the base in the bathroom. I worked with the insurance company and as soon as they sent me some money Dan scheduled the work to be done. Hecame in went over the timing of the project and who would be laying the carpet ect.. It all went perfect we have our basement back... LOOKS AWESOME...

Dan came out and looked at our old front door. He said that it did need to be replaced because the bottom was rotten. Dan gave us an estimate on what he thought it would cost and we said go ahead and get it done. Dan scheduled the day he would do the work and was there when he said he would be. Dan took out our old door and found some other things wrong with the original framing. He explaned what was wrong and how he could fix it so that our new door would fit the way it was suppose to. He told us of the extra costs and we said that would be fine. When Dan got done with the door install it was perfect and it looked great. I told him our old door never worked that good. Thanks Dan.

We are so happy we went with Dan for our basement. We did our kitchen through big company like Sears and had a bad experience. Hence we were nervous to pick someone to do our basement. We talked to finished basement co, McDonald's and others. They took a month to meet us, then another month to show us design etc. When Dan walked in our house, he listened to our needs, quickly gave us a ball park estimate and was ready to start. We trusted him from Day 1. He paid attention to minute details we wanted. Very friendly, courteous and accountable. He helped us meet our budget also by giving us options to meet our budget but without compromising the look and quality. He brought other guys and was the project manager to them. He even gave us home works to go select light fixtures and others. Big remodeling companies bring cool sales guys and then don't pay any care to work after they get our contract. Dan was not like that. He planned it, gave a project plan with realistic timeline and met it! Everyday he cleaned up at the end of the work. He took the whole project as if he is doing for his house! Who will do that? Me and my husband had many moments with our eyes filled with joyful tears comparing our experience with Dan vs Seara. He even worked on weekends to finish project on time. He even listened to and made sure he fulfilled the need of my 8 year old son for a room he wanted under the stairs. This is what America stood for, which of lately was missing. I am happy people like Dan hold that true still. High quality, craftsmanship, attention to detail, client satisfaction are the key strengths of Dan, A terrific person too! We are waiting to have another project to be done by Dan at our home. I strongly recommend him and his crew for any home improvement projects. Thankyou Dan for the work and the wonderful memories u gave us. We will miss u for sure being around.

All of the work that Dan has performed for us was done correctly and has met all industry standards. We would reccomend him to anyone and would use him again for any further needs that we have.

The quality was excellent. He did double the work in half the time of other carpenters I have used. I have recently purchased a new home and will definitely be calling Dan to help us with the remodeling.

I was very please with the job for a few reasons. First Dan is very experienced with all types of carpentry. Beyond that dan took the time to understand what was the right level of repair for us. Finally he kept working on the details with us until he had confirmed we were satisfied. Overall i would highly recommend dan for repair projects other people are having a difficult time bidding for you. JM

Dan came out to give me an estimate to fix some water damage due to a poorly attached deck. Dan was on time to the meeting and very professional. Due to the nature of the damage he was unable to give me an exact estimate but provided an expected cost and cap or maximum cost for the repair. Dan was able to come out quickly and repair the damage. After he started working on the repair, Dan found that damage was less severe than I initially thought and came in at more than 50% below the expected cost. The work was well done and performed on time. I was very satisfied and would recommend Dan to anyone.

My experience with Dan Lenzen, owner of OLD PRO CARPENTRY, was a disaster. It is important to note that Dan is a pathological liar. He has distorted everything that took place with my job. I am finalizing my complaint at this time. Regarding his response to my initial complaint,I will respond as follows: 1. It took two weeks, not two months to get my door from Home Depot. Dan wanted to order my door at the Home Depot where he shops, which is approximately 40 miles from my home. I decided to order my door at the Home Depot located two miles from my home so that I could be in touch with the store if an issue arose that needed attention. Furthermore, I was paying for this door with my Home Depot account and the store location should not have been an issue. It seems that Dan wanted to be in charge of my order and I can see now how that would have been a problem. 2. Home Depot did not give me a refund for the door. Home Depot told me that they manufactured the higher grade of this door, but would sell it to me for my original price. The stain color was darker than I had ordered, but I decided to keep the door. I paid for this door. 3. I gave Dan two bank checks because the first one was $550.00 and then he said the total was $700.00 so I went to the bank and got another check for $150.00. At the time I paid him I did not ask him to do any bathroom remodel. I think I mentioned something at our initial meeting. When I finalized my payment with him I had requested an itemized invoice and he said he would send me one when the checks cleared the bank. I have requested that invoice numerous times and his promise was not fulfilled. 4. The door manufacturer did not supply a piece of quarter round that Dan installed as a threshold. I confirmed this with the door company. The contractor, who corrected all of the problems that Dan created with my door installation, installed the proper threshold. Dan said I would have to order a new door in order to have a threshold installed, which is a crazy statement. He did come to my home a couple of times, but I did not call him 38 times and never at night or Sundays. I would like to see proof of his accusations. I read Dan?s reviews on Angie?s List and spoke to him on the phone. Dan came to my home on July 10, 2012, to see the job. I had double entry doors that needed to be replaced. Only one door was an operating door and the other was stationary. I hired Dan to replace the operating door with a new fiberglass door and remove the stationary door. He said he would have to remove the wall to the closet which was behind the stationary door and replace the sheetrock, put in 2 x 4?s to stabilize the wall and insulate the new wall. Then he would install board and batten to match the rest of my home. He did not do this job the way he initially promised. He also didn?t discuss any changes with me. I ordered a high-quality door from Home Depot, which Dan installed. There were numerous problems with this job because I relied on Dan, the contractor that I thought I could count on to handle the job. He was not helpful and communication with him was difficult. I trusted that he knew what to do and would install the door properly. I did not see the new door until after Dan removed the original doors and that is when I realized that the stain color was not what I ordered. At this point I had to have him install the new door and decide how to resolve this problem. This door had eight pages of installation instructions and Dan did not review any of them. The door was not installed properly and Dan took the Corner Seal Pads that were intended to be installed behind the weatherstrip at the bottom of the door. These pads prevent the door from moisture accumulation that could cause damage to the door. I contacted the door company who had additional pads sent to me. I did discuss this with Dan and he tried to make his usual phony excuses. Dan originally quoted me $425.00 for the entire job that was scheduled to take a full day. He revised the remodeling of the closet area that we agreed upon without telling me. I discovered his deception when I went outside to see the job, but as usual he made excuses. After spending only three hours on this entire job, Dan insisted that I pay him $700.00. He said he was charging me $40.00 for removing the trash, but he only took my storm doors, which were in good condition and the entry door along with the Corner Pads. He left the scraps of wood in my garbage can and he also left a board that is sixteen feet long in my garage. I requested an invoice from Dan itemizing all of the charges and he refused to give it to me. Dan refused to complete the job and now I realize that was a blessing. The entire job had to be redone and it finally turned out beautiful. There are some problems that could not be corrected, but the new contractor is truly an honest, reliable professional with outstanding skills. I am attaching a letter from that contractor describing the major problems that he corrected. I am also sending Angie?s List copies of the e-mails that I sent to Dan in support of my complaint. I would discourage anybody from hiring Dan because he is dishonest and has anger issues. Old Pro Carpentry ruined a very expensive door, but I was fortunate to find Rocco to correct as many problems as was possible. I firmly believe that Dan should refund my total payment of $700.00. Dan refused to provide me with a detailed invoice describing his work and copies of receipts for purchases he made on my behalf. Old Pro Carpentry also damaged my doorbell when he removed my doors in a manner that was very destructive. I was not aware of this problem at the time I wrote my original report. UPDATE: FABIO CONSTRUCTION 14319 BROOKMERE BLVD NW PRIOR LAKE, MN 55372 612-964-5964 10/14/2012 To whom it may concern, On October 3, 2012 I was hired to re-install a front door, siding and trim that had improperly installed by someone else. Siding: · The previous contractor installed James Hardy Board and Batten siding approximately 30 sq. ft. which did not match the existing siding on the house and the battens were improperly spaced. · The contractor installed a rough sawn cedar 1X6 siding under the front door sill which did not match and was installed with a 1/2? gap between board and sheeting which is improper installation. This was replaced with 1X6 Miratec board which matches the existing battens. · I removed and replaced 7 James Hardy Battens with Miratec battens which matches the existing battens on the house siding. Door: · A new pre-hung door had been installed by a previous contractor out of square, out of plumb and the knob side of the frame was 3/8 of an inch farther out than the hinge side. I re-hung evenly and plumb. Interior casing: · Contractor had installed the door casing at 15-degree angle to make up for the improper door install. I removed the casing and added a ¼? extension jam around the door as the door jam was a ¼? narrower than the wall thickness and re-installed the casing. · · Also installed a threshold extension because the door jam and the threshold were ¼? smaller than the thickness of the wall · I also caulked the siding and door installation and put new foam around the door jam because the previous contractors work hard to be removed. Total cost for the job was $560.00. Rocco Fabio Fabio Construction Original Company Response: Every once and awhile you get a customer that you are not going to make happy. This member is one of them. We framed a double front door to a standard 36' front door. It took 2 months to get the door because she wanted to get the material herself. I picked up the door she selected at Home Depot and started the install only to find out the member didn?t like the door. At that point I finished the install enough to secure the house. 2 weeks later the member informed me that Home Depot gave her a refund on the door and I could finish the install, so I did. After the job was complete the member went to the bank and paid me with a cashier?s check, thanked me for the work and asked me to work on her bathroom remodel project, which I declined because schedule conflict. Two weeks later the member called me to tell me I had put in the wrong threshold on the door, I explained that that is a part of the door package she ordered at Home Depot and that she would have to order a new door, or completely reinstall the door. The member didn?t believe me, and wanted her money back. This project took 2 months ,4 trips, 38 phone calls many on nights and Sundays, but at the end of it all I guess I am going to join the ranks of the window washer she is suing for scratching her windows and her painter who won?t return her call. It went very well. Dan was timely, affordable, professional and helpful. He suggested products I could use on my other home projects and he gave me a variety of quotes for the different solutions to my water damage problems. I would recommend Dan to others and I'll for sure be calling on him again.

Dan works efficiently and communicates what will be happening during all phases of the project. His workman are neat and respectful of your home. They completed the project on time and on budget.

The job went smoothly. Everything was done on time and on budget. Dan does really nice finish carpentry work. He is very professional and a pleasure to work with.

It went very well. I was extremely pleased with the outcome and have had many compliments on the work. Dan suggested I use vinyl shakes which didn't cost much more, but added a lot to the front of my house. He also improved the ventilation in my attic and roof as part of the project. His final price was very close to the original bid which I appreciated. Each day my yard was cleaned up and he was very careful around my shrubs and flowers.

I looked around on the internet and found some really good reviews on Goggle about Old Pro Carpentry Service LLC that is what made me call Dan to look at my project. The project turned out GREAT. I really cant believe that it is the same house. Dan and his crew came out and got started as soon as the project got the go ahead from the insurance company. He got everything completed just like he said he would and within budget.

His estimate was right on and that is what we ended up paying. He did really well and I was impressed by the fact that he cleaned up really well; you couldn?t tell that he was ever at our house. He was efficient and he called if he had any questions. I would certainly use him again.
