John was the third or fourth electrician that I called. All of the rest were either unavailable or did not return my call within 30 minutes of message left. John returned my call within a half hour found out what my issue was and scheduled me after an existing appointment. John was out shortly after noon and went to work. John found my issue a failing three way switch in my garage and was able to get my circuit back up and running. He also identified an issue with the breaker to what used to be an electric stove outlet that had obviously overheated. Since I have a gas stove now John disconnected the circuit breaker and verified that it did not affect my appliances.

VERY helpful and knowledgeable. Immediately identified the issues, thoroughly explained to my client, and estimated the associated cost(s). Most importantly, all of this was done on extremely short notice, to accommodate my client's looming inspection deadline.

He came. He saw. He fixed. It was great. My power was out so they came within two hours of my call and made the repairs the same afternoon. They were timely, professional, and courteous. They cleaned up the area when they were done and his assistant, Eric, even got the branch off of the gazebo. The price was very reasonable even before the coupon offered to Angie's List members. I've added his company number to my contacts list and will certainly call him again when I need an electrician. I highly recommend this company.

We are very satisfied and would ask John back to do additional work. He was willing to be flexible with scheduling the work. He and his assistant were courteous and punctual. Installing the ceiling fan included additional work, especially rewiring the switches in the room that controlled multiple electric devices. He explained our options clearly, the pros and cons, and was willing to complete the work the same day. We appreciated his clear explanations in his assessment of other electrical issues in our home.

John came out and was able to get it fixed and we will be hiring him to come back and clean the wires up & put a new box in. He was a pleasure to work with and are looking forward to having him come out again.

I can't recommend John Kivel Electric highly enough. I called on a Friday afternoon regarding flickering lights, and John was here within the hour. Although he tried to save us some money by reusing the panel we had, he did end up having to replace the whole thing (it was pretty old and corroded). We had several light switches that needed replacing, and other miscellaneous maintenance issues. He thoroughly explained what he needed to do, why, and what my options were before proceeding with the project. I also had a yard light that needed replacing. John found what I needed, again giving me options regarding price and wattage, purchased and installed the light. I won't hesitate to call John for any future electrical needs.

Great. He was the 5th company I called. No-one else said they could come out today to fix this hazardous situation. He went over to my house within 4 hours of my call, fixed the problem, and then called to tell me what was wrong. Very courteous and professional

It was so helpful that John called me back very quickly and was able to schedule a time on the phone. And then he called to see if I wanted the work done a day earlier! He let me know that some wiring in our home was not done correctly and he corrected that along with the two other projects I gave him. He's efficient, knowledgeable and professional. He works with his partner Connie who was excellent to work with. We will use their services in the future. The price was fair and they cleaned up when they left.

John was a pleasure to work with. I had outdoor work for John so we danced around the weather a bit, but John always answered his phone or called me back when I seen warmer weather on the horizon. On the day of the work, ( which happened to be a Sunday ), John was a few minutes early. I had originally ask John to install 2 motion lights, but I explained I wanted 1 motion light and two garage outlets installed. Didn't phase John a bit and he proceeded to complete the work. A very nice Guy, the conversation was as good as the work he completed for me. I have a basement job upcoming and will certainly be calling John. I recommend John to anyone looking for a job to be fairly priced, completed expediently, and with a nice person. His service is why I look on Angie's list when I need work done I cannot complete on my own.

You can tell John and Jim take pride in their work. The wiring inside the main panel was very clean.

John and Connie are very pleasant, easy-going, and work well together. Because of my old house with it's plaster ceilings and because of the unusual kitchen cabinet configuration, I thought this would be a somewhat difficult installation. It was to a certain extent, but they had no problems coming up with solutions and both installations came out perfectly. Took extra time to make sure the range hood was centered perfectly and opened up the plaster and lathe bathroom ceiling more to make sure that fan fit its opening correctly. Everything was done neatly and without any damage to surrounding areas. While not in the job description, he did provide me some minor assistance and some suggestions for making sure the duct work was done correctly so I didn't have to hire an HVAC company. I am happy with their work and would hire again.

John arrived promptly and got to work. The install was tricky as there had never been an overhead light in the room and there was virtually no access. However, he's a very seasoned pro obviously because he figured it out quickly. The light we purchased, along with a dimmer switch and a new outlet were installed quickly and professionally. He even fixed some wiring and installed a new plate on an old light switch in the same room. When he was done, I had some questions on led lighting and he was good enough to show me some examples and talk about best uses for the technology. I'd hire him again in a second.

John provided us with a free estimate before starting the work, gave us a reasonable date of when he could do the work, and showed up to do the work when he said he would be here. He is a very skilled, knowledgeable professional in his trade and answered all of our questions in a courteous manner. The work was completed in a timely manner and we would not hesitate to use him again.

The electricity in half my house went out after I pulled the main fuse to check on an outdoor GFCI outlet. The power wouldn't come back on. I checked Angie's List and decided to make the call to John Kivel electric. To my surprise, he fit me into his evening and was here within 30 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem - the old contacts between the main fuse pullout and the box were not making a great connection. This issue happened before, but it was temporary - not this time. He explained what he'd need to do, and a new breaker panel would make the most sense. He was able to fit me in his schedule on my pay day. He and his wife came on the scheduled day and completed the work while I was at work. They finished earlier than expected and all worked well. Throughout the process, it was like I was talking to a neighbor rather than a contractor. I appreciated his straight-talk about the electrical situation. Though $2,000 is a lot, I had this estimate in mind from other reviews for similar work. I believe it was a fair price. I will likely request some additional work for my 1960s electrical.

ohn personally answered my call and made an appt for the next day. He arrived on-time and changed out the electrical connection for my new dryer. The old one was over 28 yrs old so it was somewhat challenging but it was no problem for John. The job was completed in about an hour+ for the amount quoted. Would I use John again? You bet!

Excellent service and John did the work himself. He accommodated a Saturday service date, arrived early, and was professional throughout. He was very methodical first surveying and assessing the situation. He was very thorough to inspect the circuit and wiring to make sure it was only the fixture that was the problem. He only made two trips to his van for tools so he knew exactly what he needed and didn't clutter up my home with anything more than he needed. He was very clean and took great care to not mark any walls or bang into anything. He didn't charge a penny more than he estimated and the job was sight unseen (he'd never been to my home and he made the estimate based off of what I described on the phone). I also like the fact that he's local and didn't have to drive all the way across town for a relatively small job. I'm sure I could call him for anything large or small. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Went great. I had been without AC for 10 days. Had an AC guy come out only to tell me to get an electrician. John was the only contractor that wasn't more than a week out on their schedule. He came the next day and found the problem. He replaced a switch and the unit fired right up. John was very knowledgeable and professional. I will be using him on my next electrical job.

He came and did the work and did not ask for extra. He was very good, even though it was on the cheaper side.
