Capital Siding Windows & Roofing

So this review is a little late but stick with me....after the Hugo tornado and all of the contractors who came and knocked on my door I somehow came in contact with Capital Siding but more importantly Jeff Moore. I must have received 10 bids on the work and found that 90% of those bids wanted to take advantage of the tornado and increase their prices. Jeff was different. Jeff came and took a look at the house, the roof, and other potential concerns. He provided an amazingly fair bid and gave me realistic expectations of when the work could be done. I had a bunch of questions and he was incredibly patient to answer them. Once the work began I knew I was in good hands. The guys that came out were exceptional! They were on time, they were friendly and more importantly when I had questions about the job they took the time answer my questions. I am a bit of a perfectionist and expect that the work gets done perfectly so I ask lots of questions. After all the work was done Jeff gave me a call to make sure that I was happy and satisfied with the work. Fast forward a few years (6 to be exact)...I noticed a very small leak on my ceiling in our bathroom. I called Jeff up. He remembered me and was willing to send out a couple of guys to take a look at the roof. I thought well that's nice but I bet he's going to charge me a bunch. Not exactly, within 2 days Jeff had one of his guys show up to take a look. He did what he could but realized he would have to come back with another guy and a bigger ladder to really look at the issue. Within the next couple of days he came back. He climbed into the ceiling (and it was hot!) and he got on the roof and found that with the strong winds and the heavy rain the vent had come out of alignment and there was a slight leak. He fixed it and then doubled checked to make sure it was fixed right. My last question, "how much do I owe you"? The response was that since it was so minor he didn't need to charge me. CRAZY! I was amazed. This just is the way that Jeff runs his business! He is super trustworthy and focused on customer service. It's nice to know there are honest and fair contractors out there. I would not hesitate in the least to rehire these guys!

Capital is awesome. Tim came out and provided a quote for a new roof, and also gave us ideas and costs for redoing our garage which basically looked like it was going to fall apart. The quotes were thorough and professional. TIm provided material samples and talked through how the project would run. He also was available to answer questions at any time. Capital coordinated all the permits, was communicative about each step (I can't underestimate the importance of good communication!!!) and then executed on the plan. The garage project was taking an old ugly garage and updating the siding and garage door. As expected, there were twists and turns along the way, but because Tim was easy to work with, clear, patient and answered all our questions, the changes were really stress free and easy to understand. For example, there was additional rotting wood that needed to be replaced, and some electrical changes that were out of the original scope. I think that those situations so many times can be points of conflict between a home owner and a contractor, but with Capital the whole project was stress free.

Jeff called me back right away anytime I had a question. Brian, the guy who installed the windows and doors -- was a perfect gentleman. He was fast, punctual, and most importantly, the windows and closets he did for us look amazing. He went above and beyond what was promised. He's not so much an installer as he is an artisan. It's been 2 years now and the windows and closets still look great. I did have one problem with one of the windows, called Jeff, and he had a guy come to our house within a few days to take care of it. Personally, I'm a bit of a high maintenance customer. I need a lot of hand-holding and a lot of help making decisions. Jeff not only gave me as much time as I needed, he actually talked me into going with less expensive windows ? and he was right. They still look and perform as good as new. We liked the work they did so much, we're having them back out to replace our dining room window. You will love working with Jeff and his crew. Very fair, very professional and just all around good guys.

Jeff was very nice & worked with me on costs & the roof looks great. I was impressed with how quick the process of the total tear-off took. I do however have some issues with the crew, the corner of the roof was damaged and although they "fixed" it, it still needs to be repaired. I had to ask them to put the rain gutter guards back on for they left them laying in the yard, also IMO a better clean up could have been performed. But my biggest problem and the reason for the low score is ten minutes after hearing a crew member comment on our pet turtle she has never been seen again. Of course when I mentioned this to Jeff, he defended his crew and nobody took her and that it must have been just a coincidence. I however know better. Prior to hiring Jeff I mentioned to him how I was leery about hiring a company who subs out the work, but who he hires reflects on him on them.

Jeff's crews are always fast, incredibly competent, very considerate of the homeowner's privacy, and they clean up the construction site so well it's hard to imagine a better bunch of people. On all three projects, the crews did a wonderful job and I have always been totally satisfied with their work. I am an aging DIY guy, so that statement should mean more than if I hadn't done any of this kind of work myself in the past. My house is old and very convoluted, so it is hard to work on and even harder to make the work look good. Capital has always done a much better than expected job for me and I will use them again and recommend them to my friends.

I am a pretty thorough person, so when it comes to any kind of purchase. I do a lot of research...and when I say research, I mean like reviews from Angie's List, other online review site, blogs, vendor sites, online reviews, etc..It almost gets too be to much to digest. But usually when I am done, I become a much more educated, yet full paranoid consumer when obtaining bids from my selected business/contractors. I had 5 bids from all highly rated Window installation companies off of Angie's list. These contractors were also cross referenced with another online site to validate consistency and objectiveness. I went with Jeff because of the following. 1) He was not the lowest bid dollar for dollar. But he was very close! He also he offered to do more for what the competitors would be charging extra for. So basically, I was getting more value for my money. 2) Jeff is highly personable and did not come at me like a sales man. I always felt like he wanted to install the best product that met my family's needs and budget. He never tried to over sale me features or "better" windows. He actually was the opposite at times, and informed me why this feature was excessive or why this would not have much added value for my needs. He always follows through on all his communications. To put it simply. he's just an honest good guy trying to do the right thing by good people in the home improvement business, which is rare these days. 3) As I stated, I am a thorough person. So I wanted everything in writing and noted. Not only to protect myself, but to qualify for the energy loan offered through Ramsey County. Jeff accommodated all my request and created multiple drafts of the contract till I was satisfied. I think there were at least 5 drafts or more..:) 4) The Parco windows look great and the quality is solid. They used the same glass packs (Cardinal) as more expensive brand windows. They don't have multiple lines/levels of windows. They only offer one level of window and it's their highest quality window. There is no excessive marketing and unnecessary flare. They make simply high quality windows with quality components and construction at reasonable prices. What made them stand out even more is that they are located in Wisconsin. So if there were any issues, they will make it right asap. Additionally, Jeff has a close working relationship with the owner, so I know if there are issues down the line, I will be taken care of. I confirmed this by calling Parco themselves. The Window Project Summary: The Parco Windows were delivered 5 days before start of project. The Job itself took 6 business days, From Wednesday to Wednesday. Bryan was the main installer with Dave helping out the first couple of days with placement of the window. On the third day, Bryan was the only one left to complete all the finishing work and I couldn't be happier. Here's why. Bryan is phenomenal. I'll be honest. Bryan is not the fastest worker. But there is a very good reason why. His cuts are exact and his work is impeccable. He is very knowledgeable, patient, addresses all my questions/concerns completely with tact, and has a kind demeanor to boot. I've had carpenters do work for me before and I can say without a doubt that I have finally seen a master at work. This may be too early to state and I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but the work that was done is very solid and I don't think there will be issues down the line with the installation. Everyday, Bryan cleans up after himself and makes sure all his equipment is place out of the way or back in his truck. He is very trustworthy man and I trust him with my home. I have a family with two young kids, so this was very important to me. Final day of project, Bryan finished up and took a walk around to inspect the work. Everything was completed as promised. The windows look amazing and the trim work astounding (the corners are so sharp!) There is one more minor thing that Jeff needs to address. But he has assured me that he will not invoice me till this has been completed to my satisfaction. Wow! Summary: I am very happy with the outcome of this window project and wish that all my home improvements projects can go this smoothly and this well. This is why, for all additional future work done on my house, Jeff at CSWR will be at the top of my list for all considered bids. ;) ...like I said, I am a thorough person/consumer. Jeff and his son Danny came out to my home to take measurements, discuss options & gave me a estimate for the windows/doors. Jeff sent me a email with a detailed estimate for all the work within 2 days. I felt the cost was competitive with others. They installed 8 double hung windows, 3 sliders and the aluminum wraps. I purchased the doors and had them installed, and trimmed inside and out. Using the Angie's List coupon for 10% off I saved $815.00,bringing the total to $7330.00. Bryan the installer came out a few days later to get the exact measurements so the windows could be ordered. Every thing went smoothly,Bryan is a very skilled at his work & always did a great job cleaning up every day. This project took a little over a week to complete. I was extremely pleased with the results, I would definitely use them again for any future projects.

During the summer I noticed a leak had developed over my garage where the chimney is located. If the rain was light very little water came through, but with heavier storms I needed a bucket to catch what came through. I'd attempted to repair it several times by myself but could never seem to locate where the flow was coming from. It was occurring where the garage, roof, chimney and side of the house met so I was concerned the siding would need to be removed and I didn't want to touch that. Five years earlier I had contacted Jeff about having my siding done. After talking with him I not only decided to have him take care of the siding, but also replace my windows and outside deck. They did such a great job that even the city building inspector repeatedly commented what a great job they did! What more of a recommendation can you get? :-) So once I realized I needed professional help I sent Jeff an email. The next day morning he called me and said he'd have someone out as soon as they could since they were on another job. That was fine and I was just going wait till the agreed upon day. Well two days before they said they were going to show up, they stopped by at 5:00 p.m. saying they wanted to inspect it so they could start working working the next day. The next day the guys came out and made the repairs and altered the roof line so the water would no longer 'd*** up' where the roof and chimney met. Everything was taken care of and I noticed they even went over the yard all the way to their truck with a magnet looking for any fallen nails or material.

It went great. There were a few snags that were out of their control, but it was a good experience.

I'm writing this review in 2014 for work that was done in 2007 & 2009 because over the years Jeff has continued to provide help on various problems around the house and his work quality has withstood the test of time. You won't be let down! Choose Capital Siding and Windows!

We used the services of Capital Siding Windows & Roofing. I think we had a really good experience. They did a nice job. They were very professional. We got 4 bids all from Angie's List and they all came in really close to each other as far as the bid went. We were pleasantly surprised by that. It just came down to who my husband build a better rapport with and he picked Capital Siding Windows & Roofing to work with. I actually recommended them to some other folks. The price was right where they were supposed to be as everybody came with about the same price.

The installation team at Capital Siding is absolutely first rate. Extremely professional and have significant experience with Hardie Board installation. We were extremely pleased with the final product.

I was delighted with the entire process. Jeff is very easy to talk to and courteous and gives what I felt were honest recommendations and the craftsmanship is flawless. I own a house built in 1940 and have a set of bay windows that were improperly installed probably 10-15. The aluminum aprons were installed backwards so when it rained, water flowed into the water sill, not away from it. Also, the exterior aluminum wrap had been installed haphazardly, so water was getting through several seams, into the base of the window, and trickled down into my basement. I had no idea how severe the damage was, so I decided to get the windows completely replaced. In total, I had five different companies come out to take a look. One company didn't want to do the work because it was "too erroneous" and another company never got back to me. Capital Siding had the highest bid but not by much, and their solution seemed to be the best and also involved the most work. I'm very happy with the completed project. Looking at the exterior of the house, the new windows match the other windows perfectly, which was extremely important to me and tough to accomplish. The same is true looking at the windows from the interior of the house. They also made subtle changes to the eave and overhang so that water would pour off the roof instead of flow down the window. This was a nightmare of a task because of the intricacy of the eave (this is why one of the one bidders told me he didn't want to do it), but like everything else, it now looks perfect. The real test will come in the spring with the rainstorms but feel very comfortable that my new windows will withstand our MN storms.

The day after the storm, I messaged Jeff so he'd know of the damage. He came out a few days later to assess the damage and noted additional things that I had not seen. When my insurance adjuster came out to review the damage, Jeff met him at my house so that we were sure nothing was missed. Less than a week later, Jeff had a crew at my house replacing my roof. They were finished the same day, save for a few finishing touches they came back to do the next day. My roof was the first one completed in my neighborhood - and there are still many homes getting their roofs done even now (4 months later). I used Jeff last year to replace my roof. As before, the crew was very nice and cleaned up after themselves. I'd not hesitate to use Jeff again in the future.

Capital Siding, Windows and Construction is a wonderful company. Jeff is very knowledgeable and helpful in making recommendations for the type of sliding door we desired. Bryan, the installer, did an excellent job installing the sliding door, fixing the tile floor around the door and updating our fire and carbon monoxide alarms. We enjoyed working with Jeff, Danny, Sheila and Bryan.

Jeff Moore and his team at Capital Siding, Windows & Construction were great. In August, we had them put a new roof on our house, fix sections of rotted wood, replace the doorstop on our garages and redo some sections of damaged gutters. This fall, as part of the same contract, they replaced our back door and replaced a window on the second story. They were thorough, dependable, friendly and did excellent work. We had to leave town on a vacation while they were doing our roof?but that was not a problem. They were very careful about closing everything up at the end of each day. We got multiple bids and Jeff?s was the most reasonable. During the bid process, Jeff gave us good advice about some work another contractor had said should be done, but which wasn?t actually needed (saving us even more money). Some of the window/door work on our house was done, I believe, by subcontractors?but, again, everyone arrived when they said they would and did a careful, excellent job. Jeff was easy to reach and easy to work with. We would hire Jeff and Capital Siding, Windows & Construction again in a flash?and would highly recommend them.

I met with Jeff to discuss replacing all of my windows in my South Mpls stucco 1.5-story home. In total there were 13 double-hungs, 1 casement, and 1 approx 4?x6? picture window. I spoke with three companies about my project and Jeff (along w/ his son Danny) were the best. The first company pushed toward full replacement ? at nearly 2.5x the cost, and the second was with a high-pressure salesman offering ?special? pricing?.but I had to commit by Friday. No thanks. Not only did Jeff have a very competitive price, he was very responsive and creative with options for the replacement of our picture window. I quickly became confident that Jeff wanted to do more than just sell 15 replacement windows; he wanted to be sure that I was completely happy with these new windows. As it seems with every project, something goes a bit ?sideways.? On our project, there was a misunderstanding between Jeff and me regarding a window detail. Jeff?s service recovery efforts were second-to-none and the project was quickly moving forward again. Bryan did our install work. We?re very happy with Bryan?s work. In fact, we asked that in addition to the new windows if he could clad the trim along our gables and make them maintenance-free as well. He did a great job with that too?and I?m thrilled never having to paint trim again. In summary?.Give Jeff a call. You can?t go wrong.

I hired Capital Siding, Windows and Roofing in September 2012 to replace my siding and deck. I was extremely happy with the quality of service from Jeff and the excellent work by his crew. I posted a review last October and stated that I would definitely hire them in the future. Little did I know that less than a year later I would need their services again! A hail storm came through my neighborhood in August 2013 that caused roof damage and destroyed the beautiful new siding on one side of my house. I called Jeff to take care of the new roof and residing. Once again, Jeff was a pleasure to work with and kept me informed about the timing of work for the roofing and siding crews. Jeff was especially helpful to work around a concern I had about my driveway. I had just replaced my driveway with new asphalt that could not handle heavy loads. Jeff made special arrangements to make sure that all deliveries would stay off of the driveway. He had the dumpster placed on the street (with special permission from the city) and the roofing and siding materials placed in the yard. He even thought to suggest that I put a barricade across the driveway just to make sure. The crew had a greater distance to take the debris to the dumpster on the street (in 95 degree weather, no less) and the extra effort meant a lot to me. They were very efficient, took care to cover the deck and plants with tarps, and thoroughly cleaned up when they were done. I'm very pleased with the final product and I highly recommend Capital Siding, Windows and Roofing!

10/10/13 update: The owner was responsive to the original postings on Angie's List. Regarding the visit for an estimate: The wrappings on my windows are fine, but the provider also suggested that I replace them to give my house a more "modern" look. No other options were discussed about wood windows; only the vinyl option.

I had such a fantastic experience working with Jeff and his team. He explained things in detail over and over again as I needed it, until I fully understood everything. He stayed in close touch with me during the process. His employees were FANTASTIC!! They all definitely went the extra mile. As the work began one of my biggest concerns was maintaining the health of my garden and lawn. They were meticulously careful and Jeff came and reseeded any spots that took a beating. They cleaned up every evening before leaving. I trust Jeff and his team completely. I loved working with Capital Siding, Windows and Construction!

The work was done quickly and expertly. Jeff was able to get better quality siding than I had had before because he is such a quantity buyer of the type of siding I wanted and he passed the savings along. It all got done within the amount the insurance company paid (of course I paid my deductable!). It was great!

Originally I asked Jeff for a bid on the patio door replacement and two large windows. Almost all of my windows had broken seals so my plan was to replace a few at a time. Jeff looked at everything, did measurements and submitted a bid for the work. But he also strongly advised me that he would recommend just having the glass replaced in my windows which would save me a lot of money and still solve the problem. He recommended a company that could do that work for me which would mean he wouldn't get this job. I am sure it was obvious I had no idea that I could just have the glass replaced but he did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. I took his advice for the windows and was able to afford to replace all of the bad window glass in my home. I decided to have Capital replace the patio door rather than just the glass because I had other issues with it as well as broken seals in the glass. Bryan from Capital removed my old door, installed the new one, cleaned up everything when he was finished. When he left, there was nothing for me to do but enjoy my new door. Everything looks perfect, inside and out. Jeff was great about staying in contact, everything he promised was done in a timely matter, there were no surprises regarding the work or the price. He was easy to work with, pleasant and very excited about what his company has to offer. I would definitely use Capital again and recommend them to others.

Jeff and his siding crew were incredible. Jeff personally handled every aspect the job from working with the insurance company to making sure my every request was met. I had hired another another contractor to replace the siding on my house and after a few meetings I knew that I was being taken advantage of so I had to find another contractor. My sister referred me to Jeff and after meeting with Jeff I knew that I was in good hands. Jeff went above and beyond his what a contractor would normally do. He knew that I had a deadline to meet and Jeff quickly met with me (he even changed his own schedule to meet my time line). He was extremely attentive, he listened to what I wanted then made great suggestions that I would never even would have thought about. The estimate and the final bill were exactly the same, there were no hidden charges nor surprises. The crew that did the work on my house were the most conscientious, thorough and every day they left the job site immaculate. I did not have to pick up after them like my neighbor did. I am so impressed and thrilled at the quality of work and the time that everyone spent on my own home. This company is definitely a company that still takes pride in their work and it shows. They are not a company that goes door to door o get work, they get their work based on their own merit. If you truly want a honest contractor this is the company for you.

I hadn't realized until today that I never wrote a review for my siding work. This work was completed last fall (Sept 2012) as part of a total house overhaul. Capital completed 3 projects for us - siding, windows and roofing (the windows and roofing already have been reviewed). I had already been prospecting for the window job when we ended up with storm damage to our siding. It seemed like it made a lot of sense to just use the same company for the siding since I had such a good vibe from Jeff on our window quote. In addition to the siding, Jeff's team also replaced our soffit/fascia/gutters/downspouts. With a new roof, I wanted everything to be cohesive so I elected to have the additional work done. Jeff's team also installed a replacement exterior door (I provided the door) on the back of our home. The siding team was awesome. Things that I would have never thought to ask or even know to ask - they were very thorough in checking with me on my preferences. The siding job was completed in the amount of time that they said it would take and it looks fantastic. I am very pleased with the polarwall siding and am especially pleased that I will never have to paint my house! I would highly recommend CSW to anyone looking for new siding, windows or roofing.

We were extremely happy with this contractor for a number of reasons. During our new roof and siding project in 2011, Jeff spent so much time helping us navigate the insurance process. He made sure that we got everything we deserved. I was so impressed with how on top of things he was. Many times he even answered my phone calls at 9pm, when I expected to leave a message. The father/son crew that did our siding was great. They showed up every day on time and worked tirelessly. We always knew their schedule ahead of time, and they were always there when we expected them to be. They were very friendly and easy to work with. The finished product turned out wonderfully! Most recently (in a new home) we had the roof replaced. The same crew installed this roof as the first one. They were fabulous! I was so impressed with their promptness, professionalism, and attention to detail. There was one minor thing that I wasn't completely satisfied with, but the crew was at our house within two days to change it to my liking. (It was an aesthetic thing--nothing functional.) I would not hesitate to recommend Capital Siding and Windows, and in fact, I have recommended them to friends. I will definitely use them again in the near future as we have another project that we are considering (an egress window in the basement.)
