I have used Zell to repair an antique toilet over the years and it finally gave out and sprang a leak in a part that cannot be easily replaced - Scott recommended that I finally replace it - he took the time to write down all of the measurements and details I needed to consider and even recommended a brand he prefers. He came back to install it and did a great job. Scott also installed a new kitchen sink for me when I have my counter tops replaced - again he did great work and showed up on time and did the work for what he estimated. I will continue to use Zell for all my plumbing needs - they are reliable, affordable and do quality work!

I had zell plumbing come in to give me an estimate on plumbing for a bathroom that we are planning on doing as part of doing our basement. We had a good conversation with the company rep and as we were going through everything he put details on his work order contract sheet on what would need to be done. After we were done he asked me to sign the thing that he was writing up stating that it is their company policy for all customers to sign what he has written to show that he was there and gave me an estimate. Having worked with several different trades over the last few weeks in getting estimates on different things including other plumbers (all through Angies list), none of them had made such request. This made me my antenna go up and I politely said no. He then immediately pointed to another line on the sheet saying that that is ok, but I need to sign on this other line in order for him to give me the sheet that he had been writing on with the work details and estimates again per their company policy. I refused again and told him that it was ok if he could not give me that sheet. After a few exchange on why I was not willing to sign he gave me the sheet anyway before leaving. I reviewed the sheet after he left and sure enough it was written as a contract obligating me to get the work done for $4800 and even included terms such as 1/3rd payment in 3 stages and that I would pay for the city permit fees and a few other details. The first place where he wanted me to sign was under the statement "I hereby authorize you to perform the described services and to pay the amount indicated.........." and the second one next to "This is to acknowledge the above work has been completed to my satisfaction." Wanted to give heads up to be very wary on signing any paper that this company may give as part of providing an estimate or as a matter of fact while getting an 'estimate' from any contractor for anything. For getting an estimate on a future project you should not need to sign anything to avoid the probability of getting obligated to get something done when all you are looking for is an estimate. And in this case the Zell plumbing rep eventually gave me the paper in any case when he figured out that I was not going to sign it. Thanks

We are finishing our basement and needed a water lined moved so we can finish the ceiling. Zell showed up when they said they would and completed the job as they described. The guys were nice and they did a nice job. He also gave me some suggestions about making sure a valve remains accessible and gets heat after we finish the walls and ceilings. I would recommend to others and would not hesitate to call again.

I'm completely comfortable having him do work for me. The guy is just a neat guy - very helpful and very responsive. The toilet that we had was an unusual toilet, and they got a replacement very quickly. His concern for me and not having a functioning toilet was very nice.

The man who was supposed to come out was on a job that was running over so the owner himself came out to start the job to make sure someone was there when we had scheduled our appointment. The guy that was originally supposed to come out showed up a half an hour later to help which sped up the process. They were very nice, friendly, and competent. We were more that happy with them. We were very pleased with their service.

We needed to replace an existing toilet in the basement. I called Zell Plumbing and Scott Thielbar returned my call very quickly, we were able to schedule an installation for the very next day. He told me the price over the phone. During the installation Scott discovered that there had been a problem with the old installation not being done right. He showed me the problem and explained what had happened and why we would need an additional part for an additional cost. I believe the installation was a bit tricky with removing the old part and because our basement floor was not level. It took several hours, but the only additional cost was then new flange. The toilet looked great when finished, everything was cleaned up - but after waiting the necessary 24 hours for the caulking to dry we discovered that the toilet "wobbled". After calling Zell Plumbing again, Scott returned by call very quickly (even though I know he was not working that day) and arranged to come back and reinstall it as soon as possible. The toilet is now perfect, he had to install some shims (because of the sloping floor) and we are very happy with the work.

A water commission technician came to install a new water meter in our house when he informed us that our "street side" main valve was broken and he could not turn off the water to complete the installation - we would have to get the valve replaced. I called Zell plumbing and their service person called back within 2 hours and said he could come out yet that morning. When he arrived he asked me if the main valve failed in the "open" or "closed" position. I didn't know, so he checked and found only a trickle of water coming out - the valve had failed in the "almost closed" position and we we had almost no water flowing in our house. He then called the water commission and requested an emergency "shut-off" from the street so he could install a new main valve -- he had to be very persistent on the phone to get a person from the water commission to come out and turn off the main street valve yet that day, but they finally said they would send someone. In the mean time he installed a frost free hose faucet to replace an original one which I had to drain each year. The water commission person showed up and shut off the water to our house. The Zell service person then replace the "street side" valve in our basement and while he was at it, he installed the new water meter which the water commission person had brought. This is the 2nd time we have used Zell Plumbing and we have been very happy both times.

Over a weekend, we realized our water heater needed some attention so I started calling plumbers first thing Monday morning. After calling several plumbers and getting voice mail or answering machines, it was a pleasant surprise to have a live person answer my call at Zell Plumbing. Initially I was told that they didn't have a plumber available until the next week so I was disappointed. The woman was very friendly and apologetic, even recommending a different plumbing service to call. Then, a few minutes later I received a call from Scott. He said there was some miscommunication and he offered to check the water heater that afternoon if I still needed a service call. He arrived a couple of hours later. Scott was friendly, professional, and got right to work. It turned out we did need to replace the water heater. Scott gave me an estimate of replacement cost on the spot and explained what the cost included. He also looked at a leaking faucet and explained a simple fix if we wanted to do that ourselves. Fortunately, the water heater was still working so we scheduled a date the following week for replacement. The day of installation, Scott called to let me know he was running a few minutes late and gave an adjusted estimated time of arrival. Again, when he arrived he was friendly and professional. The work was completed quickly and efficiently, including coordination with someone who arrived to help Scott remove the old water heater from the lower level. When Scott was done, everything was cleaned up well. He explained information about the new water heater and demonstrated basic operating procedures. Then, without extra charges, Scott spent a few extra minutes repairing the leaky faucet since my husband had not had a chance to repair it himself. Overall, this was an extremely positive experience with a plumbing service/plumber. We will definitely use Zell Plumbing in the future. Scott was personable, efficient, knowledgeable, and easy to work with.

On time, professional. Explained cause of leaks and recommended best course of action based on plans for a remodel.

Bathroom sink has been slow for years and got to the point it took 36 hours for the full sink to drain. A visit from Zell and 1 hour later and the sink is running like brand new.

Great service, would not hesitate to call Scott again for help.

They were able to send someone out early the next morning after I had called. He was very efficient and didnt make much of a mess. They were able to answer my other questions and concerns.

When was the last time you had a service provider respond, show up, and finish the job in less than 8 hours! Scott did a great job, and explained what he did so I knew the work could be trusted. Excellent! This is my plumber of choice!

Zell responded quickly to my call and Scott came out the same week. He was professional and was willing to answer all my questions about the plumbing in the house I had just bought. Scott checked existing plumbing and was very informative. He did a very good job fixing my plumbing problems. Zell is now my "go to" company for all my plumbing and heating needs.

We purchased a new fridge and after getting it installed realized we didn't have a water line for the ice maker/water. I called a couple local plumbers and was able to get through to Zell. We spoke about the scope of work to be done and they gave me a ballpark price. To my shock they came out the same day the call was placed! My wife was home when the installer did his work and she said she was very pleased overall with his level of professionalism and how well he cleaned up. The water supply to the fridge location was rather far away and with 9ft ceilings in the basement can understand the cost of the hook up. We will be using Zell again. Also, what made up my decision to use Zell was how many pleased AL customers were close to my home.

He showed up within the time window he stated, was more than willing to answer all of my questions, did what was asked for, and provided an estimate for future work. My only complaint was the price. Since I needed it done that day I could not shop for a cheaper plumber but compared to previous plumbing projects that I have had done (including replacing a sump pump in my previous home) his total cost was high.

It went great. We noticed our sump pump wasn't going during heavy rain, so checked it and noticed it wasn't working. I left a voicemail at Zell Plumbing on a Sunday evening, and submitted an online request for an appointment ASAP. I was pretty surprised to receive a phone call in about an hour from Les, the owner of Zell Plumbing. Les walked us through a general overview of how our pump worked and explained to us over the phone how to get the pump to run manually to clear the excessive water before our basement flooded. He set up an appointment for one of his team to come out right away in the morning to replace the pump. Scott called about 7:30 to make sure we were up, and by 8:15, we have a new sump pump and a dry basement. Once again, we are completely satisfied with the work of Zell Plumbing, and they have given us excellent service!

I had been having serious drip problems with two of my faucets, so I called the company for advice. Mr. Zell asked me for the warranty information for the kitchen faucet and, as a result, was able to order the new parts without any cost to me. As soon as he received those parts (about 10 days after I had called), he immediately called me to set up an appointment. He was meticulous and cleaned up after the work was done. In addition he adjusted the loose pop-up in the bathroom sink and changed the level in the toilet tank.

It went really good from start to finish. They kept me well informed on what was happening each step of the way. They did not make a mess and cleaned up any water that was spilled while removing the old water heater. They were on time and finished the job and made sure the new water heater was working properly before leaving. I would highly reccommend them.

After purchasing a fridge needed a plumber to install a water line. After the call was placed with Zell they sent some one out within two hours. Over the phone they quoted me a ball park price and the final price came fairly close.

Awakened one morning to water in my basement. My heart sank as I traced it to my hot water heater. When I thought about it, I realized my heater was about 12 years old. I called Les who was obviously in the middle of a busy day. However he arrived within 30 minutes. Fortunately he was able to replace the water heater right on the spot. In the process he increased the flue size to 4 inches. In less than 2 hours my nightmare was over.

After initially trying to replace a shower and faucet myself on a weekend, I realized that I had made a big mess and was forced to call in a professional plumber on Monday morning. Zell Plumbing dispatched a plumber shortly after I called and quickly fixed the problems I created and then completed what I thought would be an easy job. The price was reasonable and the service was outstanding. They never added any insults for my feeble repair attempts and showed me where I had gone wrong should I ever want to try the repairs again in the future. Given the quality and speed of their work, my wife and I agree that I should call their shop when I need plumbing services rather than try "simple repairs" on my own.

It went well. They are now my plumbers, as they have earned my confidence.
