We had Ron Parker come out to do an estimate for painting the first and second floor rooms of our house. I showed him several damaged areas in the walls (dings and dents and cracks) , sheet rock tape cracks, etc... and asked him if he repairs everything first before painting. He indicated that he would repair all the damage to the walls as part of the job and paint them with 2 coats of paint. On the first day Ron painted, he completed two bedrooms. He did a very quick job in getting the paint up but failed to repair many areas of damage to the walls. I pointed out several spots where he failed to repair wall damage in the sheetrock and he said he could not see the damage do to bad light and that he failed to bring a light with him. He acknowledged his failure to repair and he promised to fix all the dings I pointed out and look more carefully for wall damage to make sure it gets repaired in the future. The next day he brought a light but he failed to repair many of the dings I showed him. He brought the light the next day but continued to miss dings in the walls. My wife and I pointed out other wall damage and areas that needed touching up over the course of the painting, but he failed in many instances to fix all the dings we showed him and failed to take care to see other ones we did not point out. He also failed to touch up areas that we asked him to touch up. Overall, the painting job was not well done. There are many dings he painted over and did not repair. There are dents and other damage in the walls that he either did not see or chose to ignore. He also spattered paint on a bathroom floor and on woodwork. He cleaned some of the spatters up that I asked him to do but he did not inspect for other spatters. At first he denied that any of the spatters were his. I pointed out that much of the spatters were found on new word work and matched the colors he was painting. He cleaned those up. We found many more paint spatters after he left. In many spots, I can see the old lighter color paint bleeding through the new color. It looks like it needs another coat. I did not watch him paint so I'm not sure if it's poor quality paint or failure to apply 2 coats that have lead to old paint color bleeding through. On the last day he painted, he failed to finish the bathroom, as there were large areas that he patched, after removing a ceramic towel bar and toilet holder at our request. and these areas needed to be sanded and painted. Instead of offering to come back another day to finish sanding and painting, he said he was basically done and wanted to get paid the money on the contract. He wanted me to finish sanding and painting the bathroom. When I asked him to finish cleaning up paint spatters, he said he was in a hurry to leave to meet a Realtor. He did not ask us what we thought of the job and whether there was any touchups that we wanted him to come back and fix. It was clear that he was done with this job and did not wish to be bothered.

Response from Parker Painting
The customer was absolutely rediculus in his expectations. The house is over 20 tears old and walls get damaged. It would be impossible to find every little tiny ding in every wall in the house. As far as the towel bars patch work that he had to sand. The customer should have let me know two days before that he wanted those off the wall instead of telling me on the last day I was there. patches like that need at least two days of patching, sanding and drying I was not going to drive an hour to sand two spots and paint which would have taken 15 minutes when when he tells me 2 hours before I was fininshed with the job. By the way I was referred to him by his mother, of whom I did work for in the past and was very pleased. He got a very good estimate for such a large job. I've been in business for thirty years and have NEVER had a problem. This guy is ridiculus.
