O'BRIEN ORNAMENTAL IRON

Went great. From the original order to install. Service was great, install went great and they look beautiful! Highly recommend. Would definitely use O'Brien again if the need ever arises.

I brought in measurements and a picture and O'Brien's made a handrail for me to install. I failed to notice on the final draft that the rail was on the wrong side of the steps. They changed the mounting for free and the railing fit well. I chose them because they were close to where I live more than for price, but their price seemed comparable to what I paid for a front railing several years ago and what I was able to find online. They were very pleasant to work with and the railing looks great.

Everything from initial design, production of railings, and installation went exactly as we expected. A great company to work with, and we would definitely use their services again. Thanks to the entire staff!

The work was great, the quote was reasonable, and it was installed right when they said it would be. I'm thrilled with everything about the process, especially after getting quotes from a few other companies that were pretty underwhelming and much more expensive.

O'Brien was punctual in coming out for a quote and provided all the right communication to get the booking in place, and was clear that they were not able to complete the work for 6-8 weeks. I put down 50% of the job quote, which was acceptable. I was disappointed that I had to call them after 4 weeks to check in on what date we would expect them to arrive for installation. That conversation still didn't get a firm date set, but instead a timeframe expectation for the first week of January. When we came back from being out of town for Christmas, we found the railings were installed already the week previous (assuming 21-24 December) and no one had gotten in touch with us to state they were coming out or to check up that we were satisfied with the work (hence the B for professionalism). Luckily, the work was great and we were happy with the result! Price -- holy cow, this company gave us a deal compared to two other companies' quotes! One was for $1800 and one for $2500 for the exact same work. I have no idea how they managed to have the price be so low, but it makes sense why they were booked out so far in advance. We would recommend working with them if you're really flexible on the installation timeframe and you're looking to get a good deal. Overall very satisfied.

Exceeded my expectations.

We found the company through Angie's list and then reviewed their website, where we found many pictures to review. We found what we wanted and Shawn came to our home to discuss and measure. He was very personable and knowledgeable and provided us with diagrams showing what the railing would look like. We discussed our concerns about snow removal off the front step railing, which included vertical posts and a bottom rung but were reassured that there would be enough clearance to go underneath. We waited about four weeks for production and installation. We were very happy with the color and construction of the railing but noticed after it was installed that the slope of the rail going down the 3 front steps seemed too steep and barely cleared the concrete. We sent a picture to Shawn and then talked with him by phone. He explained that the diagram we were given was never meant to be exact and that there were "codes" they have to follow ( no more than 6" between the step and the bottom of the railing, I think). I wish he would have discussed this during our first visit! Also, there are pictures on their website that clearly don't follow this "code". I think it should be standard practice to inform the customer, before installation, if there will be a variance in the expected look of the railing. I also had to ask about the advertised 10% senior discount posted on their website. We do like our rail but were disappointed in the process and outcome.

It went great from start to finish. The design we submitted was replicated perfectly, the price was very reasonable, and they installed it professionally when they said they would.

O'Brien installed a new custom railing for an entry stoop that had been poured months earlier. We had several conversations regarding the design. Each proposal was accompanied with a detailed drawing and quote. After the design was finalized, they put me on the schedule. When the schedule changed due to weather conditions, they promptly alerted me. When the weather finally allowed them to install the railing, I got a call two days before. They arrived promptly, talked me through the detail of what they were going to do, and even took the time to periodically wave to my toddler who was watching with great interest from the window. They finished quickly (less than 1 hour), and left me with a beautiful railing that is straight and level. I wound't hesitate to recommend this company.

Work was high quality and done on budget. The company was responsive to questions and its installers were professional. Will use them again.

I had a problem because of low set windows on both sides of the landing. They were able to come up with a solution and were easy to work with. They look great.

Quality of repair was excellent. Work performed when promised.

They scheduled removal and returned about 2 weeks later and installed both the new and old railings. Accurate on timing. Workmanship excellent. Kind and professional manner.

Everything went smoothly - estimate, actual work, and billing. The guy that gave the estimate also discussed other metal work that I might be looking for in the future, without trying to "sell" me on anything, which was appreciated. The Installer's also took the time to add some cement to the base of the other railing (without being asked to) to try to avoid that railing from rusting and then being at risk of doing the same thing. The railing replaced looks exactly as it did before being "snapped" off at the base (hope that makes sense), so that literally you cannot tell they did the work. We do plan on using their services again in the future.

Responded on time for both estimate and installation. Installed promptly without any concern. Still holding up very well almost 2 yrs later.

They were wonderful. They were totally totally excellent. He came out and did the assessment and then the tech guy or the one who did the work he was just excellent. They did one railings and said you don't need other one. First of all they were pleasant both of them. They were both very professional and approachable. They answered our questions. They really suggested that we just have the one rail done instead of the two because you really don't need to do that. I was very pleased. I would recommend them to anybody.

Scheduled a time for Shawn to come out and give us an estimate for the work. He showed up right on time and measured everything up. A couple of days later he emailed me the quote which we thought was a good price for the work we were asking to be done. He even had asked whether we would ever need to get large pieces of furniture out of our back door and down our back steps. When I said yes, he recommended that the main railing panel be removable so that with four bolts we could take it out. Fantastic idea! We paid 50% down which secured our place in their production process. A few weeks later I got a call from their installers who said they were at our house ready to do the install. Problem was that we lock our gates so they couldn't get in. I told them that had I known that they were going to be there on that day I would have either left the gate unlocked or worked from home. He said they don't normally tell homeowners when they go to do the install, which I still think is a bit weird. Anyway, they were able to lift everything over the gate and the railings looks AMAZING! They are top quality and look so good. We only ever had pretty crappy chain link fence style railings before, so to now have custom-made iron ones is a real treat. I would definitely use Shawn again and would recommend them to anyone else.

This was so easy. They came out and got all the measurements while I was at work. Then about 4 weeks later, they installed the new one. It's beautiful and MUCH sturdier than the old one. Thank you, so much.

Shawn O'Brien was prompt for the estimate appointment. The work was completed on schedule and was very well done.

We had to have a rail installed on our front steps for insurance purposes. O'Brien gave one of the cheapest estimates, and had more design options available for the price than competitors. Work was completed within the promised timeframe and the railing looks great. Highly recommended.

They were very helpful. Part of my job is that I have to get multiple bids for any project and he was actually quite helpful. I haven't used his services yet but that is who I'm going to scare them to use because I really liked his feedback as well as his honesty about things. The quote was for $525. I thought he was prompt and on time. He was honest and he taught me a couple of things which was nice. We had another railing project we had a few years ago done. Somebody backed into one home and so he gave me another quote to fix that for a very reasonable price as well. He was very prompt and I got my bid within 24 hours of him coming out here. I probably will think of going with him but I have to get one more bid for this project.

I contacted O'Brien Ornamental and they were out in less than a week to meet me to discuss what we wanted. Shawn O'Brien came out and got all of the needed info from us in order to write up a quote, which took them two days to get us the quote via email. Shawn's quote came in $300 less than their competitor! It was roughly four weeks from that point until we got the product installed. Shawn was prompt, personable and very easy to work with. He listened to our needs and delivered on those needs! It was a different family member who came out to install the railings. The railings are well built and stable and seem to be installed very well. The only issue I had (which wasn't really an issue) was that there isn't someone always at their office to answer their phones. I had a harder time getting ahold of the receptionist than I did anyone else.I did leave a message at one point and didn't get a call back, so I had to call again. Maybe the receptionist is more than just the receptionist and has more duties than just to answer the telephone!?!? I am completely satisfied with my contact with O'Brien Ornamental and their product! I would hire them again in a minute!

O'Brien ornamental was very responsive. I sent an email inquiry and they stopped by to take measurements within a day or two. They emailed me a proposal with a sketch and price estimate. They were clear about lead time and process. O'Brien's crew did a nice job with the install, which was a little tricky due to the stoop being stone. I would work with O'Brien Ornamental Iron again!
