We have a Saint Paul house build in 1920, two floors and stucco exterior. We needed a 2 car garage, another bedroom and bath but we didn't want to leave our great neighborhood. We got quotes from 4 different general contractors. Two of the quotes were $35-50+ above Regal and the other quote was a bit less than Regal. ((I have some experience in construction through my family and I was very surprised that the other contractors were incorrect with several aspects of structural (a dormer is not possible and won't pass code = WRONG), drawings will be required by City for all floors including the basement (WRONG) and a number of other items that I won't bore you with.)) The reason we went with Regal was because they (Bob Pierce) clearly had a better technical understanding of Saint Paul rules, building codes and our own requirements compared to all of the other contractors. Bob was able to work with me on the design and give us very practical things to consider that would increase functionality or decrease cost or both. No construction project is perfect but I very much trusted Bob and his right hand Antonio to handle the crews and all the technical details. Here are a few aspects of our project where I was VERY PLEASED with Bob, Antonio, Regal - Excellent subcontractors: (Excellent plumber, electrician and painters) I would highly recommend each of them. Bob has clearly worked with them for many years and they were all outstanding - Bob, Antonio and carpentry team were all great. They worked really smart and hard. - Several aspects of the project I did myself (bathroom subfloor, tile work and some fixtures. - Bob gave great advice throughout the project. Sometimes the design needed to change a bit to make things more functional or easier from a construction standpoint which shortens construction time and makes things less expensive. - Our son was only 4 months old when the project started, they did an outstanding job keeping our first floor clean throughout the project. Things that weren't great: - Concrete subcontractor was average. This is a tough trade to get reliable people. The garage floor could be a bit better sloped and a few other minor details weren't great. - Summer time was really busy for Regal and they had several other much larger jobs going which sometime put me lower on the priority when the rain kept falling. No Regal's fault, just reality. Overall, I highly recommend Bob and Antonio. They were great to work with. They are very respectful, friendly, knowledgeable and have excellent skills. We will use them again and I tell all my friends about them without hesitation. This was a very large project that went over many months and they delivered what they said they would.

Description of Work: In 2001, Regal tore off a 1921 addition to the back of our 1901 house and completely rebuilt it on the same footprint. That included excavating for a basement under the addition. The rear entrance was relocated, a half bath added, and old kitchen and pantry rebuilt. The result is beautiful. All of the woodwork was milled to match the 1901 part of the house. Central air was extended. Triple-glazed windows were used in the rebuilt area and also in an adjoining sunporch. In-floor heat under tile flooring makes this north side of the house very comfortable in the winter. We couldn't be more pleased.
