They came out and replaced flashing. It looks great. This company replaced our roof in 2008 and did a great job. They are pleasant to work with. They did not charge me for this work.

After a hail storm my insurance company inspected my roof and said there was no damage. A Weatherguard representative came a few days later and asked if he could check. He came back down with pictures which he said showed damage and said he was willing to contact my insurance with the pictures and ask for a re-inspection. I just had to agree to hire them if they got the initial assessment reversed. I agreed. I never heard from them again. Some other houses around me found contractors who worked with their insurance companies for re-inspections and got roof replacements approved. I called Weatherguard about a month later asking if they had followed through with my insurance. I never received a call back.

Response from Weatherguard Construction Company
Dear [member name removed], I apologize for what appears to be a complete breakdown in communication. Let me assure you non-responsiveness is not acceptable. We have no desire to associate with non-responsive sales reps and want to be notified of any concerns right away. We have spent the last 24 hours trying to locate any records for you. You mentioned that you called us but we keep records of anyone who calls our office voicing concerns and have no record of you ever calling the office. Nor do we have the contract you mentioned. Please call our office right away and ask to speak to me directly so I can better understand your situation and help in any way I can. Best regards, Dave Young

1st claim with Farmers HelpPoint only had superficial repair authorized. Weather Guard salesperson said damage was more extensive. Sales person met adjuster for 2nd inspection. Adjustor then authorized complete roof replacement and complete siding replacement. Materials were delivered in a timely manner. Roofing was done in one day - I was surprised, they had a large crew. Cleaned up very well. Dumpster was gone at end of day. Siding was delivered in a timely manner. Slight delay in application due to weather. Smaller crew that had to do a lot of custom fitting, so it took longer. Both job foremen kept us informed on progress. We had no "it must be done by" deadline. I wouldn't try to jam this type of job in before a big family event just because of weather issues. Everyone was very professional. I am glad we selected Weather Guard and would use them again. They also did a lot of other homes in our neighborhood after the hail storm.
Description of Work: Roof tear off and replace. Siding tear off and replace. Both due to hail damage. When insurance company denied complete replace claim, sales person met adjuster for reinspection and claim was approved for complete replacement.

This began a month long process which eventually led to a brand new roof. But it wasn't simple because insurance companies have raised the bar on what they will consider as "hail damage". Throughout the process the folks from Weatherguard worked competently with the insurance company, negotiated for a fair claim, kept me informed, and returned phone calls within minutes. Because of a rain-out day, my roof replacement was delayed for a couple of days. I was a little anxious that nobody would be at my home the day of the re-roofing (planned vacation). The Weatherguard scheduler assured me that they would take extra precautions re: the yard, plants, recently re-painted wood siding and gutters/downspouts, clean-up, etc. I have to say they did an excellent job. You would not have known they were on the property!
Description of Work: As with many Angie's List fans, we use it in two ways: (1) obtaining a reputable contractor for some home improvement project from ther get-go, and, (2) after already having a contractor in mind, confirming that they are on Angie's List, and have a good rating. This time I used the second approach. I recently had wind damage to my roof which led to the discovery of hail damage--from a previous storm last year. Weatherguard Construction happened to be in the neighborhood the day after the wind storm damage. You know the rest of the routine. I allowed them to inspect the roof, they obviously found the wind damage (dozen shingles lost), and informed me of the hail damage. The verdict: new roof insurance claim.

When they did the work they inadvertently cause a ventilation problem. They are taking care of the problem. They did a good job on our roof. When they found out that they had caused a problem, they immediately agreed to pay an hvac technician to fix the problem. Not only did they do a good job but they also accepted responsibility for the mistake they made and made an attempt to fix the problem. I would use them again.

We had a big storm recently. A WeatherGuard representative called me about stopping by our house to look for damage caused by this storm. We scheduled an appointment at 5 pm. I wanted to be home to discuss his findings. After about 3 hours of waiting for the guy to show up, I decided to call him. Apparently, he stopped by earlier that day (even though he knew we were not comfortable of him walking around when we were not home). He did not find any damage and did not care to call us back to tell us that he was not coming.

We were unable to get a new roof put on before the winter storms set in and had to wait until this spring. As soon as the weather was warm enough, we were given an install date, and the material was dropped at our property. All old roofing was removed and the new roof installed in one day. The crew was very efficient and swept the yard and driveway with a metal magnet to pick up any nails.
Description of Work: We contacted Weatherguard for a roof examination after heavy hail storms last fall. We were advised to replace the entire roof, and John Barnett agreed to meet with our insurance inspector and go over the damage with him. They both agreed a new roof was needed. We selected a higher grade of material than we had previously, but the cost was only $300 more than the insurance claim.

They are canvassing the Mounds View neighborhoods this May 2008 to tell us about all the storm damage we've received and how they are able to take care of it if I just agree to sign on the spot. Did I want them to check? I figured it was a gimmick but said, sure. They looked, and surprise surprise - they found damage they would work with my insurance company and I wouldn't have to do anything. They never gave me any idea of what it would cost or what they would do if the insurance company DIDN'T cover it. I said I would have to check Angie's List - and I did - he didn't seem to know what that meant. I decided NO. I see a lot of my neighbors have their sign in the front yard.

It didn't. The work was never done.
Description of Work: Weatherguard was one of the "storm chasers" that descended on our neighborhood after a hail storm. Brian said he would give me a bid for a variety of repairs related to hail damage. After he inspected my house for damage, he didn't give a bid. He said they would take whatever the insurance company would pay, plus my deductible. In his inspection he found things that needed repair that weren't even damaged. He wanted me to sign an agreement even before the insurance adjuster had been to my house. He seemed very pushy. Came out 3 times wanting to be sure we would use them if they met with my insurance company. Brian came out a fourth time to apologize after I phoned and talked to his supervisor and told him I would never use his company.

Weatherguard had their 'Claims Specialists' out canvassing Crystal neighborhoods right after a storm on 05/23/07. Their rep. while polite, definitely wanted me to sign that day, for all the time and work they spent on me (his words). The problems I have with this company are: 1) The cost to replace my roof was not filled in with a dollar amount, but the words ins. proceeds (They wanted me to sign over the whole insurance check!) & no offer to upgrade my shingles if the insurance was over what their cost would be. 2) Their references were from the other side of town. 3) They would also receive up to 10% more for overhead and up to 10% profit (no wonder why insurance is so high!) 4) Making me feel obligated to sign on the spot for his time/effort spent was laughable. Without being able to check out the company or references I said that I could not sign without further investigation. Needless to say, I did NOT use them!

It was very helpful to have the company representative involved during the insurance adjuster's evaluation of the storm damage. Representative worked with the adjuster to completely define the scope of the project and materials required. This process took a couple of hours, but no surprises! Materials were ordered and the new roof was done within two weeks. The actual construction took one day. All debris was completely removed. Nice people, good to work with, and all involved seemed very experienced. In fact the company representative corrected the insurance adjuster (and the insurance company), when the insurance claim specified using a replacement shingle of lesser quality than the original.

Salesperson first evaluated the roof and determined whether damage existed. Once complete, he worked with our insurance company. Weatherguard agreed to use the materials that we requested (specific brand), and did not charge us when we decided to upgrade our shingles a second time. The installation was very quick (one day) with a staff of 12. They did a great job, and came back several times afterward to make sure that everything was cleaned up and satisfactory.
