+ 0 moreiThe patio looks amazing. They removed an old flower bed, old railroad ties and dug out the backyard to install a 14' (diameter) patio, retaining wall and steps that Jake designed. The design was amazing and looks even better in person than on a diagram. We just had a new deck installed and Jake patiently waited until they were done before scheduling his crew to come in. All the landscaping was done in one day while I was at work. Quite a surprise when I came home. Everything was cleaned up and ready for a party!! There was only one downside. The install knocked out our internet service since our cable went through the landscaping. They had the area flagged for cables before work started, so that was checked. However, maybe it isn't a perfect process and moving an old cable is enough to interfere with its service. I mentioned this to Jake and he offered to pick up the price to have it fixed. A class act!

+ -1 moreThey have three locations but the one I go to is in Stillwater, Minnesota. I love the professionalism and the quality of the work that they do. They are very punctual. They do high quality work on time. Their teams that they send out are very professional. They are very clean. I think the price is very satisfactory. I would say that they are wonderful for landscape projects. I really think they are good. They are willing to work with me. I have some materials and some rocks that I have available on site and they were willing to use the materials that I have where possible, and then they just complemented with other materials. They did a beautiful job.
Description of Work: I am using Abrahamson Nurseries for landscaping. I have been working with them now for the second year on a three year landscape project in my yard. They provided me with a design plan for a backyard project with many perennials and walking paths.

+ -1 moreAbrahamson's came highly recommended from a friend right after we bought our house. We gave them a call and started working with Mitch. Wow what a guy! He asked me what I wanted and I said "low maintenance plants." He was so knowledgeable, came out assessed our area and drew out a plan, emailed it within a week. He asked us to go visit their Stillwater nursery and we did. There he walked me through every single plant he had picked, spent time explaining why he choose it, what I expect to see over the seasons and asked if I was ok with the pick? I wanted a few plants switched out so he patiently showed me which ones would work for the area and explained them in depth with me. What service! Before meeting Mitch, we chose a darker rock color but he recommended a red color, said it would compliment the house better. I'm so glad for Mitch, he was right! I would highly recommend Abrahamson Nurseries to anyone!

+ -1 moreJake came to our house to design an detailed plan for the the front, back and side of our house. We wanted to improve the attractiveness of our property and promote healthy tree growth. He was on time, took measurements of our property, listened to our ideas and suggested a few of his own ideas to improve our property. We made a few changes to his original design which he was willing to do. We could tell that he put a lot of time and thought into each design. My husband and I are "do it yourselfers" when it comes to installing trees, shrubs and flowers. Jake was willing to work with us to create a master plan if we purchased at least $200 in plants from Abrahamsons. I have already been to their store to buy shrubs and start the install. The folks at the Stillwater store have been helpful every step of the way and a joy to work with. Our plan is to have a retaining wall and patio installed next year. We will have Abrahamson's do it since they have been great to work with so far.

+ -1 moreAbrahamson's was very good to work with. They made good suggestions for hardscape that enhanced the plan and incorporated our preferences and ideas. Unlike other nurseries we talked to when building out new house, they did not charge for the plans as long as we used them for installation. They were prompt and did the work promised. Because we landscaped in August, we deferred installing the perennials until the following spring. That was not a problem and went very smoothly. Warranty was not a problem. Again, the work was done promptly and with minimum disruption to other plant material. We have worked with other landscape companies in the 8+ years we have lived in our home to do additional projects. Based on those experiences, I would not hesitate to contact Abrahamson's again to correct poor quality work done by others. We have also recommended this nursery quite a few times to others.

+ -1 moreOverall we are satisfied. We didn't want to do all this work ourselves. They used a bobcat and heavy equipment which in turn tore up the grass some and it is yellow in spots still.The hot weather didn't help either with the regrowth of the grass.I wish they paid attention to details more. We were working that day so we didn't do a walk through after the job was completed.I wish we would have been here. They had five workers here all on the job. Overall I gave them a "B" grade. I would do this again but I would be here for the job for a final walk through before they left.
Description of Work: We had a backyard garden completely redone with the exception of some rose busches that we kept.It was weedy and overgrown. They dug out all the overgown plants and weeds and replaced them with new plants and a couple of boulder rocks. We didn't use plastic under mulch because it was not recommended to us. I asked them to pull the maple tree seedlings out of the rose busches which they did not-I later had to do this. The mulch looks really nice now however last night I still had to pull a few weeds. The reason I had the service done in the first place is that I wanted to avoid all the weeding. I was surprised I had to do this already. Another issue is that they replaced some of the flowers with the same ones I had before.I would have liked to try something new or be given the choice to reuse these plantings again. My original ones were larger and more established. They looked better. We never talked about the bolder rocks. At first I didn't like them but later they grew on me. We also had two other bushes removed completely. This would have been a big job to do on our own so this worked out well.They left part of one of the busches in the ground so it is growing up again. We will have to dig it out ourselves. They really don't pay attention to the small details very well. The final part of the project was adding some rock around another garden and putting the edging back in the ground on two corners of the landscaping around the house. The edging came out so they put it back in the ground and raked some of rock back towards the foundation of the house to protect it from the rain and weather. We also thought they were going to trim a few other busches which did not get done.

+ -1 moreThe job went very well from start to finish. Mitch, the designer/estimator came out, we talked about what was needed, and he gave me some very useful ideas. He prepared and presented a blueprint and estimate; very professional. He was very flexible, working with me and around other contractors' schedules. Although a small job, actually two small jobs, they took the work seriously. The crew was in and out faster than I would have imagined. They had the necessary equipment and personnel available to get the job done efficiently. From the original planning, through the final execution, Abrahamson Nursery's estimator/planner, and work crew, exuded professionalism and efficiency. They were all very friendly and courteous, and they answered my silly questions. I picked at this job myself (on and off, of course) for years, hating every minute. I would have been money ahead if I had used them from the start. You cannot beat the professional at his trade. Bottom line: my wife said "wow!". I was happy to send them the check (they earned it), and the yard loooks much, much, better. I recommend them without hesitation, and am thinking about next spring's projects.
Description of Work: Remove, and properly reinstall retaining wall. Remove old rock and plastic mulch, remove old plants, fill and mulch an area of yard to blend in with old planted area, plant shrubs and other perennials.

+ 0 moreThe project went well. We are happy with the end product. Of course, it is the end of the growing season and we will not be able to fully appreciate the landscaping until next spring/summer. Mitch was a great person with whom to work. There is a two year guarantee on the plants. If one doesn't make it, we are to give him a call and he will replace it.
Description of Work: We recently put in a four season porch and wished to add a paver patio and redo most of the landscaping in the back yard including removing a large arborvitae, adding beds for shrubs and flowers on two sides of the house, populating those beds, removing two existing gardens, and laying sod to repair the areas of lawn destroyed by the remodeling and where the gardens had been. The contractors also had damaged our sprinkler system and, because of the renovation, the system needed to be both repair and adjusted. Mitch met with me at our home to discuss what we wished to have done. He later returned with plans and answered my many questions about the plants and their care. He made arrangements for another company that works yard irrigation to come out during the project and make the appropriate repairs and changes. The fee given above includes the amount paid to the subcontractor.

+ -1 moreWe dealt primarily with Mitch, had a plan drawn up and reviewed all options. We were very happy with the plantings and price. We did need someone to come back and correct a couple drain tiles but this was done without a hitch. The following spring, when a few perennials or shrubs didn't fair well over the winter, Abrahamson's replaced immediately. We were so happy with Abrahamsons that we hired them in the spring of 2010 to do some mulching, boulder placement and silt clean-up on another property.
Description of Work: Almost 3/4 acre new construction landscaped: 600+ yds sod, evergreen trees, deciduos trees, shrubs, perennials, retaining walls, steps and flagstone, pop ups and drain tile for sprinkler system.

+ 0 moreThey are easy to work with. They took my goals and came up with a design that worked for us. The work was efficient and neat. All the trees and shrubs grew beautifully and the perenniel gardens are perfect. While not cheap, their high quality work is completed as scheduled.
Description of Work: We worked with Abrahamson's on 2 separate jobs. After building our house, they did a complete landscape design and installation in 2001. Then in 2008, we had them remove another contractor's poured concrete patio and walk (which was dangerously slippery in snowy conditions) and install patio pavers. I love my new patio and no longer fear that someone will fall.

+ 0 moreWORKED WITH MITCH. MET HIM AT THE NURSERY IN STILLWATER AND HE SHOWED US DIFFERENT PLANTS AND WITHIN 48 HRS CAME UP WITH A PLAN AT NO CHARGE. WE MADE A COUPLE REVISIONS TO SHRUBBERY AND PLAN TO BRING DOWN THE PRICE. MITCH WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING. OUR EXPERIENCE ONLY IMPROVED. WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS PLANS WERE SUBMITTED BY THEM TO OUR ASSOCIATION FOR APPROVAL. PLANTING, SOD AND SPRINKLER SYSTEM WERE ALL PLACED WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF EACH OTHER. ONCE WE GAVE THE OKAY, THE WORKED WITH LIGHTNING SPEED AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. MET THE OWNER, AND MITCH IS APPARENTLY RELATED. EVERYBODY WAS VERY NICE.
