Jim was very pleasant to work with. He was always on time and willing to really look at the problem to eliminate what could be wrong. He left the first day with things we could do on our own before he came back the second time (remove some of the tiles) so save us a little bit of money. When he came back the second time, he really spent some time looking at all the plumbing and tiling before deciding he could do no more. I would hire them again for any plumbing I needed.
Description of Work: We called Norblom because we had a leak in our tiled shower. Jim came out twice to diagnose the problem. In the end, he concluded that it was a tiling problem, not a plumbing problem, so we still have to find someone to fix it, but it was reassuring to know that it is NOT the plumbing.

Employee was very professional and got right to work. Other than some excess soder left around the fixed pipe, he kept the area clean.
Description of Work: Employee fixed a pipe that would always burst during the Winter months. He installed a valve that would allow complete draining of line. He also inspected a floor drain and help identify why it was not draining properly.

Our water heater died and I purchased a new one via Centerpoint Energy. Norblom was their subcontractor. Thus, pricing isn't really applicable to this report. It quite possibly may have been cheaper had I contacted Norblom directly, but I needed a new water heater ASAP and I didn't have time to do extensive comparison shopping, nor did I have any pre-existing experience with plumbers. Centerpoint had scheduled the job between 8am and noon. Norblom called just before 8 saying that they would be there between 9 and 1. It would have been nice to have a more accurate time window, but that may be have been Centerpoint's issue. The gentleman showed up about 11:00. He went directly downstairs to look around. He informed me before he began that he would have to install a larger-diameter vent pipe which was going to cost an extra $90 beyond the estimate. He also pointed out that I have galvanized pipe and that I would have to sign a wavier. All this happened before he began working, which was good. He also took the time to point out some of the quirks of the pipes installed in my old house and gave me some recommendations for the future. Once he began working, he had the old unit removed and the new unit installed very quickly. It got a little unavoidably wet because our floor drain was not draining properly. Otherwise, it was extremely smooth and he was done by 1pm, about 2 hours. All in all, I am pleased and if I have future plumbing needs, I won't hesitate to contact Norblom.
Description of Work: Replaced water heater including removing the old unit, and installing a new one. A new vent pipe was installed as well.

Norblom sent Jim, who was an extremely positive and solution-oriented guy. Jim discussed a few small issues with me and explained my options. The air test showed that we had a small leak, which Jim was able to fix quickly. Then he coordinated with the inspector so that he wouldn't have to come out a second time. All and all it was a great experience with a great service provider.
Description of Work: We had Norblom perform an air test on our plumbing rough in for our basement finishing project. We had done all the pipe fitting beforehand and Norblom checked for any leaks as required by code.

Originally, I thought I was happy with the project. They came on time and performed their work on time. They also moved a large 6 inch drain pipe into the wall (it was an exposed pipe right next to my basement bathroom toilet). I had wanted to move my toilet 3" from the outside wall and 3" from another wall. I wanted to insulate the outside wall. I was told that code would require a backwater valve, so we didn't do this. After their work was done, a friend came over and pointed out some problems with their work. They chose to install the vent pipe outside of the wall, requiring a soffit. Code doesn't require this. I ended up moving it inside of the wall (see Figure 1). While doing this, I discovered that the old galvanized vent pipe was basically rusted in two (this was inspected by the plumbers). So, I fixed that. I also moved another pipe so that another soffit would be smaller. I noticed that the drain pipe from the 1st floor bathroom was 60% clogged (figure 2). The plumbers would have noticed this as they connected new pipe to it - they never mentioned it to me. I had verbally requested a brushed nickel drain cover from Norblom. They installed a cheap plastic/stainless drain. I didn't notice this until after my tiler tiled the shower (figure 3). This was part of a bathroom remodel that I did a lot of work on and I am slow. I had my final inspection last week. I asked my inspector about the need for a backwater valve when moving an existing toilet. He said while it is a gray area, he would have allowed it (figure 4). Overall, I felt this was a high bid, but I chose this company based on their reputation on Angie's List. I feel that I have also learned an expensive lesson. Regardless of someone's reputation, the homeowner, needs to insist on detailed project plans and needs to challenge contractors when their interpretations of code does not make sense. With this said, I would not choose to hire this contractor again. A good contractor should get the job done not just to code, but they should do with the homeowners needs in mind and to code. Norblom didn't do this.
Description of Work: Original quote was to replace galvanized piping, install a new vented shower drain, and move some drain piping in our basement bathroom as part of a remodel. This quote was too high, we reduce it to installing a new vented shower drain and moving the drain piping in our basement bathroom.

Chris arrived on time to do the work. The room in which the water heater exists is quite cramped, but Chris did not complain. He worked quickly to remove my water heater and obliged my request to let me clean the area before he installed the new one. He explained a bit about what he had done and how to relight the pilot light of the water heater, should I ever need to. He gave me the owner's manual (it was a little wet from the installation). Chris was a good communicator and worked quickly. He asked for my permission to place the water heater a bit to the left of where the original water heater had been placed so as to not cover the drain clean out in the floor. Great suggestion! He was friendly and professional Overall, I had a great experience.
Description of Work: Disconnected and removed my old water heater and replaced it with a new one. Disposed of old water heater. Pulled permit with the city of Plymouth.

Our gas water heater died on a Friday morning. We called a Norblom for a new one which they said they could put in that day. Plumber came out and said there was no way to vent the gas heater due to changes in codes and we would have to switch to an electric one. We had to get an electrician first (we got Total Electric to come out Monday) and Norblom said they could install the heater as soon as the electrician was done. Electrician finished about 10 in the morning and Norblom was out by 12:30 with the new heater. They had all the permits needed and installed everything very quickly. I had checked around 2 other companies and Norblom's price was better than either and they did the work right away. We are very pleased with the work done and will use them again.

Extremely well. Alex was my initial contact and Scott Matis did the actual work. These guys were very professional. They arrived exactly when they said they would. They used creative solutions to problems because this was a remodel of a 1930s home. They installed a temporary toilet for me to use until my actual fixtures arrived. Probably most impressive is that when another contractor got delayed on the tile project, Scott actually worked on it 12/24 to finish my downstairs bathroom.

It went great. I don't know what more to add. Kris showed up on time. He told us what he was doing every step of the process. He tried easy (cheap) interventions first and then progressed up. We were in the loop. Norblom said they could not give us a bid until they saw what was wrong, cost depended on the amount of work and supplies it took to resolve the problem. Two other companies had given us minimum bids of $400 and said it could go higher depending on what was wrong. The Norblom bill was $183.00 I admit, I was a little apprehensive having Norblum come in with no bid but as it turned out, it worked extremely well. Two months later everything is just fine!
Description of Work: Our bath tub had always had slow running hot water. In the recent months it slowed to a trickle so that we were not able to use the shower at all. We could use the bath tub if we heated water to pour in the tub. We were not sure what was wrong. It turned out the pipes needed replacement from the tub to the basement in the internal part of a wall. Pipes were replaced and the hot water flows fine!

The kitchen sink backed up on a holiday (which is the only time, in my own experience, that plumbing problems ever occur). I called the next morning and they scheduled a plumber for the next morning. I had been saving two non-emergency plumbing tasks and so told the scheduler about those as well. The plumber arrived on time; he was friendly and courteous and explained what needed doing. After fixing the immediate problem in the kitchen, he easily replaced the outdoor faucet and caulked around it. I showed him the bathroom sink faucet; I had started to replace the washers on it to stop a persistent drip but could not get the faucet handle off, so I figured I'd just pay to have him fix the thing. Instead, since he didn't have appropriate washers with him, he pulled the faucet handle off for me and took the thing apart, carefully laying out the pieces in the order I would have to reassemble them, and told me how to do it myself. I appreciated the fact that he did not treat me like an idiot for not being able to get the faucet off myself! He worked for two hours total, and the charges were hourly.
Description of Work: Unclogged kitchen sink drain (which is connected to the garbage disposal) and replaced the corroded J-trap and fittings on it; Replaced broken "frost-proof" outdoor faucet; Pulled stuck lavatory faucet handle and told me how to replace the washers.

Fabulous! On time, neat, pleasant, all done to code and briskly - no wasted time here! The secretary at the company had given me choices like "flex-hose" ahead of time, so he knew what I wanted and was prepared with it. Took the time to thoroughly explain emergency shut-offs. Also, was patient with my asking his opinion about future projects (laundry room!). Time labor charges had been explained to me, as well as parts, etc, and he came in under estimate! Took extra care with the shower, choosing to reseal some of the hardware with silicone.
Description of Work: Installed my new gas stove - which meant running a new gas line up from the basement. Also fixed my chronically running toilet, and tightened up my loosey-goosey shower spigot.

The first morning they arrived and replaced the spout and tried to replace the valves on the handles. Were not able to get the leak to stop after 4 hours and decided the entire piping and fixtures needed to be replaced. They did not have the correct parts and had to come back the next morning. The next morning they replaced all the piping behind the wall and installed new fixtures. It only took a couple hours and cost me the same in parts and labor as it did for the 4 hrs of labor the day before. Everything works fine now. I was disappointed that they did not determine early on the first morning that everything needed to be replaced. If that call would have been made right away it would have cut my bill in half and saved me $400 by not having the 4 hrs of labor while they tried to repair the instead of just replacing it.

It went well. We phoned them and made an appointment for a day that I would be home from work. The plumber was very professional, kept our house clean, put on shoe covers, and did a great job. The new faucet looks better than the old. He also showed us how to prevent the faucet from freezing again in the future. He finished it in the 1 hour time frame that the we had to pay for just to have him show up. So the only additional charge was the cost of the supplies.

Went quite well. The person who came out was actually a few minutes early (can you believe it?) and understood exactly what was needed. This company is a little more expensive than some others I sourced, but they were quick and didn't try to drag out the job. Very satisfied.
Description of Work: Ground off old cast iron rusted and broken closet flange on bathroom closet bend. Non-plumber speak: I had a broken and rusted closet flange (the thing that the toilet is bolted to) which is attached to the closet bend (the branch of the soil pipe that carries away toilet waste materials). You can't install a new toilet without a flange, but this old flange was rusted on to the closet bend and I needed it removed so that I could install a new flange in order to install a new toilet.
