 + -1 moreThe entire process was cordial, professional and efficient. I had no water because the pipe was broken and with no shut off valve the entire house was without water. They were there promptly and worked diligently.
Description of Work: original piping under a vanity and sink did not have a shut off valve or consistent piping dimensions, tried to do it and was over my head. The plumber installed the entire vanity fixtures and shut off valves in 45 minutes. He did an Excellent job. I would use them again.

They are probably not the cheapest player in the market, but they arrive when they say they will, do a proper and efficient job, clean up after themselves and explain it all to you thoroughly. Both of the plumbers we met were awesome. I believe the first one was a member of the Norblom family and we liked him immensely. The water heater installation did not go smoothly due to the space, but he was able to get it to work without additional expenditure. The second plumber repaired a prior, shoddy job done by St Paul/Minneapolis Plumbing and Heating (which only lasted a year). He carefully explained and showed me the problem in the fixture and offered me a choice of repair options. It was pretty apparent that the prior plumber had done a quick and dirty fix instead of doing things the right way. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Have used this plumbing company twice: The first experience was a complicated water heater installation. The second job was dripping sink and toilet repair. (When you have a 103-year-old house no repair is ever simple in a 103-year-old house).

 + -1 moreThe plumber was on time and began the process of evaluating the area before installation and determined that the new water heater could be installed without any additional items or costs. The installation took less than 2 hours and went well.
Description of Work: Norblom replaced my current Bradford-White water heater (50 gallon; natural gas; power vent) with another Bradford water heater (50 gallon; natural gas; power vent). The current one was 8 years old and hadn't failed (yet), but was showing signs of rust and was probably set to fail within a year.

 + -1 moreIt went very well, the installer was a total professional and worked quickly with no down time out at all, and had the old unit removed and new unit installed and working in less than four hours. He also hauled away the old unit and the packaging materials from the new unit, and cleaned up nicely when he was all done. Overall this was a great experience. Please note that the $1,000 cost shown above included the water heater cost, and was set by Center Point Energy
Description of Work: On the morning of September 29, 2011 I went to the basement to investigate a running water sound. I discovered water bubbling out of a crack in the top seam of my GE water heater. I rather panicked for a few minutes because my deskptop PC had crashed earlier that same morning. My neighbor is a plumber and had installed the GE unit 12 years before, but he was not available because of he had headed north to his cabin. I then contacted Center Point Energy in Mpls for assistance. They were able to arrange for a new installation that day, and about 1:00 pm that same day the installer from Norblom Plumbing arrived with the new unit. He took a few minutes to explain in some detail what he was going to be doing, and immediately set to work. He worked as quietly as he could. given that this was plumbing work, and had the old unit out in less than an hour, and did it by himself. He then set about installing the new unit, cleaned up after himself, and then gave me a good walkthrough on how this unit worked. He also took the time to answer several questions. He was total professional, and had the new unit in by 5:00 pm. The inspector from the City of Crystal stopped by about a week later, and said that whoever did the work did a very professional job.

 + -1 morePlumber arrived on time. However, he did not have a relief valve with him. He ended up going to a local hardware store to buy one. Parts markup was approx 200%. Worst part was I was charged for the time he spent getting the part he should have had with him in the first place. Both repairs were completed and done correctly.
Description of Work: Called for two repairs. The first was a leaky washing machine hose. The second was a defective relief valve on water heater. The company called me about the part concern. Refunded the time spent getting the part. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

 + -1 moreJim, the plumber who put in the water heater, came out to clean it. Very professional. He came out last year to clean the water heater. He showed me how to hook everything up, so that I could do it myself next year. He also gave me information on a water saving toilet, a faucet in my basement that is probably the age of the house (81). It took approx 1 1/2 hours. I would definitely call Norblom again and would ask for Jim. My cat likes him, too.

Confirmed the work as well as the date & time the plumber would arrive (I was given a 1/2 hour window). He arrived within the window, had the list of work I wanted done & verified they were the right items and dove right in. He was really fast and finished in less than an hour. I will definitely use them again.

The woman who answered their phone was very nice and said someone would come out between 1 and 3 p.m. that day, and she quoted their rates. I appreciated being able to talk to her and prefer that to talking to a worker on his cell phone or having to leave voice mail. The plumber came at 1:15. He was very nice and professional. We talked about what needed to be done. He replaced the parts in the toilet tank and the water supply line quickly. He showed me what he had done. There was no mess left behind. I will call Norblom for any future plumbing needs.

 + -1 moreMark called to say he was on his way and arrived right as scheduled. He was very pleasant and professional. Each time he came in he wore coverings on his shoes. He took care of the work and explained why he needed to do things the way he did. I had asked about frost-free faucets, but he explained he would have to cut into sheetrock to do them, so instead he installed new stop & waste valves on waterlines to both outside faucets. He showed me how to use these correctly. He also ran the gas line for the dryer, then added insulation on the dryer vent to the outside. This job cost more than I expected, but that is basically because of the amount of work needed. I had thought the gas line was much closer to the dryer than it was, so this process was more involved than I expected. Mark was diligent in his work and did not waste time. I have used this company in the past and would not hesitate to hire them again. Their skilled professionals definitely know what they are doing.
Description of Work: I hired Norblom to provide a new gas line so I could convert to a gas dryer from electric. I also had them alter the water lines to my outside faucets because they were not closing off completely for winter.

 + -1 moreThe appointment was made for the same day, and the plumber, Jim, was prompt, professional and personable. He diagnosed the "dripping" noise we were hearing in the wall as, not a leak, but the sound of the plastic drainpipe expanding against a wood joist in the floor or wall. That made sense, as there had been no visible water damage. Based upon his experience, the plumber was able to diagnose and eliminate the problem without tearing open a wall or ceiling. As for the cheap toilets we bought with the house, Jim saw the problems and was happy to recommend replacements; first, though, he offered me the opportunity to have him replace some parts, with better ones, so we could try living with them before investing in two new ones. I opted for that, and at a fraction of the potential cost of one new toilet, he fixed the two we have; so far, so good. We are very pleased with our experience with this local business and would contact them again for repairs or remodeling.
Description of Work: The house we bought six months ago has a newly added second floor. We called this plumber for the first time, based upon the Angie's List ratings, to troubleshoot what we feared was a leak--"tick, tick, tick"--in the drainpipe from the upstairs bathrooms' showers and sinks, as well as for an assessment and estimate for replacement of two poorly operating toilets upstairs.

 + -1 moreWhen you think of great customer service, plumbers probably don't rise to the top of anyone's list. Time to re-think that. Working with Norblom was a great customer experience from the moment I called for an estimate to the time I shook hands with the plumber, Paul, as he left. Norblom made the installation as seemless as possible. They helped me select a water heater that would fit my needs, called my city and secured a work permit, and completed the CenterPoint rebate application before Paul ever arrived. The crew arrived exactly at the time they promised and completed the work in what seemed like a land speed record--under two hours. When the work was done, Paul walked me through the operation of the new water heater and counseled me on how to maintain it. No one wants to spend this kind of money these days without getting something in return. I got a great value from Norblom and I'm very pleased with their work.

 + -1 moreI discovered a pin hole leak in a water pipe in the basement that was also spraying on a phone jack which knocked out my phone. I found Norblom on Angies List, called them, Amy at Norblom told me someone would be out between 1 and 4 same day. Jim Peterson showed up around 1:30, immediately analyzed the problem and repaired it by removing the part of the pipe that had the leak in it. It took about 1/2 an hour. He was great! He was knowledgeable, helpful, and answered my questions with a great knowledge and good humor. It turned an unhappy situation into an easily fixed one.

 + -1 moreThe initial phone contact person and the plumber who did the work were friendly and professional. The plumber arrived right away during the window of time I was given. After he assessed the problem in fewer than three minutes he explained to me my options, including offering to show me how to put the fawcett back together and where to buy the part needed from a plumbing supply store. I appreciated the information and chose to have him complete the work, which cost more, but gave me peace of mind. He finished quickly and made sure I had any questions answered before he left. I wil definitely use this company again!
Description of Work: I needed a bath tub fawcett repaired, it would no longer catch to turn the water on. The plumber quickly assessed the problem as an internal part that had worn away and needed to be replaced. He had to get the part from a plumbing parts specialty store. He replaced the part, along with new handles, which I opted to buy.

 + -1 moreSame day service was nice - very prompt. The drain works great now. On the downside: After the technician left the trap leaked. I had to adjust the fittings/gaskets and tighten the nuts to get it to stop leaking. It wasn't leaking when they got here so I expected it that way when they left. They also left the sink and cabinet area dirtier than I would have liked. Nothing major, but a quick wipe down with a towel would have eliminated the mess and left the area as he found it - clean.
Description of Work: Had a clogged bathroom drain. Plumber first tried unsuccessfully to snake the drain with 2 different machines. (I told him I had already done that with no success - but I don't fault him for trying with better equipment.) Plumber then cut out piping in the basement and replaced it with a new elbow. Problem resolved.

He checked both faucets before he went out to his truck to get the parts....since they charge based on time and parts I appreciated that he did not work on one issue and then the other which would have added time and increased the bill. He also suggested I check the Angie's list website for coupons on the service. He said the coupon they posted did apply even though I thought it would not. After I paid the bill Jim asked if I had any other questions. I asked him a few things about my water heater. He took time to help me determine the age of my unit and he said I don't need a new one based on what he could see. I appreciate that he provided honest feedback instead of trying to upsell something I did not need. Thank you Norblom Plumbing. (Oh.... I waited to post this to be sure the faucets are not leaking after the repair....no leaks!!)
