We needed to make several decisions during the visit, and Jim was quite helpful in giving us the pros and cons of various options. Jim was a true professional--fast, skilled, and helpful. I'd definitely hire Jim and Norblum Plumbing again.

 + -1 moreSelected them for my service due to the ratings and reviews on this site. Getting service scheduled via a call on a Saturday was difficult. Left a message with their recording service with instricutions on which number to reach me back, but only got a message later on Sunday on the wrong phone contact for the weekend. When I called them back during the week, I was placed on hold for 15 mins with no one picking up. I called back, and finally reached someone to schedule to service call. The service person shoed up promptly, and managed to perform all of the services, even sourcing parts needed via a company courier delivery. He was good and professional to deal with.
Description of Work: Water heater pressure relief valve replacement, sink hot/cold control valve replacement, and toilet tank flapper valve replacement.

He performed the work quickly and did a great job. He suggested some things that may be needed in the future, like using a camera on the main line if it become a problem again. He was at our house just a few hours after I called.

 + -1 moreHe did a great job. This is the second time we have used Nordblom Plumbing. We were simply getting a new pedestal sink and faucet installed. He installed the sink, new faucet and water supply lines. He said I could save money and time if I took out the old wood cabinet sink before he came, so I did just that (and cleaned the wall) and thus the price was less than expected and it only took an hour and a half for the install of the new sink. The new sink is centered perfectly and the silicon adhesive used was applied well and looks just great. No bubbles or seems or excess, basically. Very nicely done job. The also are one of the few plumbers who offer an angies list discount, which really makes your angies list membership "pay for itself". Win-Win. Bottom line: I would gladly recommend this vendor and, as we have used them twice now, I would use them again, as we eventually would like to put in a second bathroom in our basement.

Description of Work: I have an antique 1950's case one piece toilet, and it was starting to leak, and needed several parts replaced. I didn't want to just replace it with a $69 toilet from home depot, i wanted to restore it. They understood my needs, and did everything they had to do to get it up in working condition again. They also repaired my 50's faucet from leaking.

The plumber arrived on time and got right to work and was able to remove the old fixture and drain without sawing off the connections. Did a great job and cleaned up afterward. I've used Norblom before for a hot water heater replacement and would highly recommend them.

 + -1 moreI have an old cast iron farmer's sink in my kitchen. The faucet had been dripping off and on over the last couple of years with some washer changes giving only brief respite. When I was driven totally bonkers by the incessant dripping, Norblom pointed me in the right direction to purchase a new faucet. Because the sink is so old, there are very few options for a new faucet...something like a 2 holed, 6 inch center something. I found the faucet and called Norblom Plumbing for an appointment. They have always been very timely in scheduling and respectful of my schedule as well. Jim arrived on time, in a snowstorm. There was a chance that the whole sink might need to be pulled, which is a two man job, but luckily Jim had a gizmo that reached up behind the sink and he was able to get the old faucet out and install the new one. He also discovered a leak in one of the water lines which he replaced. The faucet was not dripping when he left but I still wasn't convinced it was actually fixed. Over the next 10 days, I cautiously walked into the kitchen, casting a suspicious glance at the faucet but each time there was nary a drip and the sink was bone dry. The faucet handles turn off easily and the faucet looks great. Hallelujah!

 + -1 moreI suppose, as perfect as a surprise plumbing problem with a repair needed -- could go. I was especially pleased to see the shoe covers used since I had recently had new carpet installed. Work was performed at my home.
Description of Work: 1st floor toilet became plugged late last night and all my own efforts were unsuccessful (2 different plungers). Called Norblom around 8:15 this morning and work was complete by around 1230 today. Amy answered the phone at Norblom and listened to my description of the problem and said I most likely needed their drainage expert rather than a plumber. She was very cheerful and friendly, and explained that assuming the drainage expert could fix the problem, the cost would be $145. I had already done about 2 hours of research online (price, customer comments, rating services other than Angies, etc)and mostly using Angies List links. No doubt about it -- plumbing problems are expensive. But after my research, this seemed like a fair price. I had a choice of 2 time slots today and chose 10-12. Zach called around 10 to confirm my address and ask some more questions about exactly what the issue was. He arrived around 30 minutes later. Zach wore shoe covers in the house -- which was great! He tried several different methods (my plungers, a snake, running different water faucets to see what made the problem worse, etc). He asked lots of questions to try to better understand what the pipe layout of my home might be (slab on grade duplex with no drainage clean-out). Ultimately, a plunger that he had worked. Then we turned on all the faucets in the house and I flushed the other toilet repeatedly to be sure the problem was fixed. He showed me what kind of plunger he had used and which I will buy the next time I'm out. He explained that NOTHING ever should get flushed down toilets other than toilet paper -- my mistake was that I have regularly flushed square, bleach type wipes down toilets when I'm cleaning. This kind of thing might seem to flush, but if it gets hung up anywhere in the pipes it will stay there and collect more stuff until you have a real problem -- now I know! I will never, ever be doing that again! He also answered my questions. For example I asked if I could have taken a shower or done a load of laundry -- answer was no -- if I had, I would have had all the water in the 1st floor bathroom (and the kitchen and the first floor carpets) -- so that was a good choice on my part. Zach was neat, clean, professional, efficient (no wasted time), knowledgeable, polite (shoe covers put back on every time he came back in the house) and friendly.

 + -1 moreMy description of services performed says it all. I would definitely call them again. Mike was great in getting back to me and getting a plumber to our house in a couple hours. Since I had shutoff the water to the house, there was no emergency. Andrew was courteous, explained what needed to be done, said how long it would take, did the work and left. Great experience!
Description of Work: The water shutoff valve for one of our toilets was leaking and broke when I went to shut off the water to the toilet spewing water all over the bathroom floor . After shutting off the water to the house and cleaning the water on the bathroom floor (at around 1 AM) I logged on to Angie's list , read the reviews, left a phone message and email with Norblom, and went to bed. Mike from Norblom called promptly at 8 am and arranged a time for the plumber to arrive between 10 am and 12. Andrew from Norblom showed at 10:15. He brought in his tools got to work on the toilet shutoff value and was done in about 12 minutes. Since he was already at our house I had him look at some other possible issues. I decided to have him replace a couple shutoff valves for our washer that I had thought about doing. Excellent service!

The faucet had been fixed twice in the past few weeks for an ongoing drip by a different Plumbing Company. Norblom Plumbing squeezed us in due to our immediate need and Jim arrive in just over an hour of the call. Jim assessed the problem immediately. He showed us how to turn off the hot water and main water in the house if we should need to do this in the future. Through his many years of experience working with older homes that have the original fixtures he was able to use the proper tools to fix the problem. Jim also took the time to help with a running toilet in the same bathroom by changing out the toilet flapper. Jim was very professional and pleasant and took the time to show what he was doing and why. We are VERY pleased with the service today!! We will be making a list of our less immediate plumbing problems for Norblom Plumbing to fix in the near future. Thanks Jim!

 + -1 moreI was told that tankless heaters had really gone up in price since mine was installed (2000) and that their brand of heater was the only one they installed. A simple internet check showed that tankless heaters of my capacity had not gone up in price at all, and that their brand of heater was not commonly available and so no service reports were available. The net result was that they wanted $7000 to relace a $1200 heater.
Description of Work: I wanted estimate to install backflow plumbing for tankless water heater. Was told my unit was at the end of it'd service life and that I would be best off to install their brand of heater.

 + -1 moreI'm very pleased with Norblom Plumbing. Andrew was prompt (a few minutes early, which was great), friendly and professional. We had a leaky bathtub hot water faucet. These are very old faucets, and we're planning to remodel the bathroom later this year, so we did not want to spend much fixing a faucet we do not intend to keep. There were also no shut-off valves for the tub, so shutting off the water supply to the tub entails shutting off the water to the entire house. Andrew and I discussed the option of fixing the soon-to-be-replaced faucet vs. installing shut-off valves. The cost would have been about the same, so I elected to have the shut-off valves installed since we will need them anyway and they're easy enough to access to stop the hot water drip once everyone's done bathing for the day. I have to say Andrew worked very quickly, left the area clean, and was very polite. He answered all the questions I had about the potential remodel. I would absolutely use Norblom Plumbing in the future, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

 + -1 moreI called them to come out for an estimate. I told the secretary or receptionist the scope of the work. When the fellow came out he was totally on top of everything and just realized that I had already scheduled the electrician and made sure the new location for the washer and dryer was the best possible. He said it wouldn't require a quote and would just be an hourly job because I had already had things prepped. I had done all the pre-work. He did give me an idea of what the hourly bid would be and was upfront about what was next. Their price was extremely fair for the scope of work I am asking. You can tell that they are an established company and a good group of guys. They did make sure that the work I had already done was proper. They fellow who came out was easy to relate to.
Description of Work: I received a quote from Norblom Plumbing. I needed to move my washer and dryer downstairs and move the gas line of the oven from the wall to a new position, a cooktop island.

Andrew was the gentleman that did the work and he did an excellent job. When my second water heater failed and I needed to replace it, I called Nordblum after regular business hours and left a message. Amy called me back first thing the next morning and was able to set up a service call the same day. Coincidentally, Andrew was the person who they assigned the job to. Andrew called me prior to coming over and promptly arrive on-time. He had the whole job done in about an hour and he came in on the budget I had been quoted on the phone. He was fast and very neat. I would highly recommend Nordblum for your plumbing needs. They are friendly, dependable and fairly priced. EXCELLENT!

Description of Work: My backflow preventer went bad so I couldn't add water to my boiler to get the air out of the lines. The plumber installed the new part and was done quickly.

 + 0 moreWhen I came out of the shower I heard some water dripping somewhere. I turned out that the water from the shower was coming out of the kitchen sink drain all over the kitchen. We had to use pots to gather the water and throw it outside. I then tried sodium hydroxide to clear the kitchen drain to no effect. I then went to the hardware store and asked them for their strongest drain opener. They told me sulfuric acid would do the job. I asked if that would hurt the pipes and they said only if I left it in the pipes but if I thoroughly flushed the pipes there shouldn't be a problem. I asked what should I do if the acid didn't work. He said I would probably have to take the drain trap apart and clean it manually. I tried the acid but it didn't work. I tried to unfasten the trap but the whole pipe structure fell apart in my hands-due to the acid. I checked Angie's List and called Norblom. Zack came out within two hours and cleared the problem right away. He said that they have a plumber that could come out and re-connect the pipe in an hour or so. And that's what he did. He also told me never to use either sodium hydroxide or acid. Enzymes were OK, though. A week later the bathroom sink drain wouldn't clear and enzymes didn't seem to be doing the job. I called Norblom again and they remembered me from the previous week. Zack came out right away again, cleared the drain and told me that their plumber should probably replace the trap and pipe under the bathroom sink. The wall of the pipe was very thin and you could see corrosion all over it. The plumber came out again and fixed it in a few minutes. I can't praise this company too highly. They were extremely professional and efficient. Finding a company like this is the reason I subscribe to Angie's List.
Description of Work: Zack came out and cleared the kitchen drain. Then their plumber had to come to fix the kitchen sink pipes since I had used acid to try to clear it myself. A week later the bathroom sink drain wouldn't clear so I called them again. Zack came to open it then their plumber came to change the pipes, though I hadn't used acid this time.

I didn't think it would be this fast because of all of the cold weather issues, i.e. frozen pipes etc. everyone has been having. Jim called me when he was out 10 minutes. He was friendly. Introduced himself. I expained the problem. He knew exactly what I was talking about. After examining the problem himself, he made a trip out to his truck to replace a hose and within about 45 minutes had the problem diagnosed and fixed. Impeccable service. I understand they also do work for Center Point Energy. Nice to know. Jim was friendly and very efficient. Problem solved. Would definitely call again. Without a doubt.
