Called yesterday with two issues: Failing inside on/off value for the backyard spigot, and also some unexplained groaning in our pipes that has been going on for the past 6 weeks or so. Super friendly and helpful over the phone and they were able to get out here today, which is great. Andrew was professional & friendly. Valve & spigot replacement was quick and painless. We discussed the groaning -- no easy way to diagnose. He had a few ideas of what might be the cause, but didn't push a solution without having a clear diagnosis. We'll try to isolate when/where it happens and call them back once we figure that out.

Norblom was quick to provide an estimate and willing to work their install schedule around tenants availability. Both toilets were installed and old ones hauled away. No problems with either of them in over a year.

When I called to arrange for the hot water heater to be replaced they were informative about different options as far as the efficiency of different appliances and various prices. There was no pressure to pick the most expensive appliance either- they respected my need to balance efficiency with my budget. The plumber showed up to do the work on time, did a nice job and cleaned up when he was done. I wanted to move the hot water heater location a little bit and he accommodated that without complaint or charging me more.

Jim Peterson arrived on time. He explained exactly what I could expect and how I would be charged. He worked efficiently while also answering my questions and giving me choices about how to resolve our issues. He had the parts we needed in his truck. He was pleasant, honest and professional. I would recommend Jim and Norblom Plumbing to my family and friends.

Centerpoint Services guy mistakenly put down 8-4pm instead of correct 12-4pm for service time estimate. Norblom attempted to install at 8:00 AM (understandably) but rebounded beautifully when I wasn't available to be home til noon.

Prompt, professional and very respectful. Provided information throughout time at my home to help me understand what was being done and why. Clearly outlined alternatives, potential price comparisons and recommendations for consideration.

We were happy with the work performed. The plumber arrived at the time stated although spent a short amount of time on the phone while at our home. (Unsure if we were charged for this or not). We were very pleased with the quality of work. While the bill came in a little over the estimate, there were a couple of unexpected obstacles that the plumber had to deal with so it was understandable. Overall a very good experience.

The guest bathroom tub faucet wouldn't stop dripping, so it was urgent, but we couldn't leave it running. Norblom Plumbing was able to send someone over that day. The plumber was efficient and professional. He had to replace the entire shower/tub unit, which was much more expensive than we anticipated. We've never had to pay for plumbing before so I didn't know what to expect on price, but the service portion of the payment was MUCH higher than we expected. We paid a lot more for a leaky faucet than we were thinking it would be. The plumber was nice, professional and did get work; it was just more expensive than we thought it should be. The worst was yet to come. We woke up the following morning to water POURING out of the ceiling in the kitchen and half bath, below the guest bath. This happened at 6am and Norblom didn't open until 8am, all we could do was leave a message. I do wish they had a emergency line. The plumber who did the work did come out right away, with in an hour. He did seem very concerned that he made a mistake, he went to work very fast. It turns out the leak was not his fault. By working on the pipes further up the line it caused pipes further down that were loose to come apart. Just by looking at the pipes you can tell it had been leaking for years. He fixed it quickly, but we still had to pay more than I expected. The overall experience was fair. It was frustrating that a leaky tub faucet let to so much damage and money spent, but I thought the plumber did a good job and it doesn't seem fair to take it out on him.

Mike and Amy worked with me over email as I was out of state and recommended several options at different price points. Other plumbing companies wouldn't speak to me without coming out to the site (which wasn't possible as I wasn't living in the home yet and in another state). I was impressed with the customer service and the installation went without any issues. I would recommend Norblom.

It went great. They came out promptly and fixed it. The estimate was very close to the price paid and the job took 2-3 hours as they estimated.. Very nice, professional man came out (I wish I could remember his name).

Jim from Norblom will be my plumber until the day I die!!! First of all, he was on time the morning after one of our worst spring snow storms! He started on the leaking shower valve cartridge which is inside a wall with just a small hole in the tile for access. He determined that the replacement part my husband had gotten at the plumbing supplier was wrong, so while I drove to get the correct part he worked on installing the new water softener. Before I left, he gave me his cell number so I could call with questions, and so I could send him a photo of the part at the store to make sure it was right! Our main water shut off in the basement, unfortuanately, didn't actually stop the water entirely. So Jim installed a new, functioning, shut off valve for us, as well as the water softener. My husband was thrilled!! He knew the old one was living on borrowed time! Now we can shut off our water during trips or working on remodeling projects! Meanwhile, the plumbing supplier had to order my cartridge so I returned empty handed. Jim, who is brilliant, had me take a video with my iPhone, of him explaining what to do while he reinstalled the old cartridge, and assured me that I could do it when the part arrived. He was right! What else I appreciated...he was very carefull to wear shoe covers and was also very tidy! This is definately the kind of service we all hope for when calling professionals for help.

The installation was delayed a day because of troubles with their supplier. Otherwise, installation went very smoothly and the old water heater was taken away. We were very please with the process and would use them again. He even gave us some advice on another issue we were concerned about at no cost.

Jim showed me how to evaluate the shower head pressure simply and determined all I needed was to replace the hand held shower head by myself. No plumbing repair needed. Jim found a leak in the pipe seal in the basement quickly and repaired it with installation of a drain valve and soldering the leak. He did the repair in under an hour and showed me the result and how to prevent future leaks. He was knowledgeable, friendly and skilled.

The service we received was great. They were punctual and friendly.

Very positive experience. This is the second time I've used Norblom and would definitely use them again when plumbing work is needed. Andrew was personable, knowledgable and open. I felt very comfortable having him in my home and I've no doubt he did quality work.

We had a a chronic problem we had with our basement utility room plumbing. I called on Friday and Norblom's got a plumber to us first thing Monday morning. John came out right within their scheduled time window to investigate After looking into the issue, he suggested he actually clock out and call in their drain cleaner who would cost less than if John were to do the work himself. Zach was there within half an hour and had the problem solved within 15 minutes. Both guys wore shoe coverings and were very friendly and polite. Thanks to John for his expertise and Zach for his work! The only reason for my "B" grade on price is because Norblom's are not cheap. However, you get your money's worth and I am always impressed when a company will present the least expensive option and not charge you for bunch of work you don't need.

Tried to up sell a package that I didn't need.

I'd been informed that my 1912 home had been a "handyman's workshop." Never was that more in evidence than when I found water in my basement. Darrin looked at the water and told me it must be coming from my boiler which was near the puddles but I told him the boiler guy had been there the night before and had isolated the leak to a particular pipe. Darrin said it couldn't be that pipe because that particular pipe was a vent. I went upstairs, turned on the kitchen faucet, and sure enough, water started coming out of a crack in the "vent." Darrin rerouted the drain from the kitchen sink to an actual drain; in doing this he eliminated the spaghetti-like mess of pipes I had under my sink; and fixed the crack in the vent. I couldn't be more pleased.

Paul from Norblom arrived at my house to install a back-up sump pump I had purchased at Menards for $300; along with a marine battery for another $100 at Walmart. I had just recently moved into my house in the last couple of years and the home inspector had suggested that I get an emergency back-up pump. During the summer months, I had noticed that my sump ran almost continuously and I worried that if I lost power, I would return from work to a basement full of water. I had originally asked Norblom to inspect and assess the existing pump and replace the pump, if needed. I also asked them to install the back-up. When Paul inspected the pump he learned that the previous homeowners had propped up the pump which is why it wasn't emptying completely and running frequently in the summer time and that the coupling used on the piping wasn't compatible or done very well (which I already assumed). He was very knowledgeable and spent a significant time explaining to me how and why this wasn't working. He gave his opinion on the existing pump and pricing on a new one (which was far superior and had a better battery). He was more than willing to install the Menards brand but the pricing pretty much made it a wash when considering the purchase of a new and improved model. He ordered the new one (which he didn't have with him) and had it delivered to my house in an hour (which he didn't charge me for). He then installed the new pump and the back-up; which was all in one. He assessed the electrical to ensure that I had a surge protector added. He was courteous and pleasant and responsive. I received my Angie's List discount and was very happy with the final price and the service provided.

It is a bad day when the sewer backs up into your basement! But Norblom was fantastic and the plumber they sent, Ryan, made this whole experience go as well as it possibly could. He arrived promptly, identified the issue and was ready to get to work. The access to our sewer clean-out is under the carpet (of course!). Ryan didn't want to pull back the carpet because it is new and he didn't want to damage it. He waited patiently while I corralled a handy neighbor to help me pull the carpet back out of the way. Ryan worked diligently for a couple of hours and got A LOT of roots our of our line. After that was clear he opened the check-valve in the bathroom to verify that it was functioning correctly. It is a very good thing he took a look at the check-valve because it was propped open and was NOT working correctly. He put it back in place so it would function and then he checked that all the basement drains were clear. When it was all done Ryan suggested that we either (1) plan to have our line cleaned out to remove tree roots every couple of years or (2) look into having a liner put in. We'd had tree roots cleaned out of the line more than 3 years ago -- we won't wait so long again. Ryan was neat and confined the mess to the degree possible. Norblom has done work for us in the past and we've always had good experiences. Really, I feel like these guys are my plumbers-for-life.

I wrote to Norblom thru Angie's List and Mike wrote back promptly. Professional and helpful. Jim came out to look at some plumbing issues we were having and to give us advice, answers, and estimates. He was awesome. Good experience with the company. Jim was honest and informative. Recommend!

Went smoothly for the most part. A couple of glitches, but nothing major and nothing that wasn't addressed promptly. They did a good job of explaining what needed to be done and why.

I called on April 2nd in the afternoon requesting services for a floor drain clog in the basement - there was water pooling. I also discussed with the person taking the call that about a year ago we discovered the nieghbor's maple tree had grown enough to send roots into our main sewer line causing a back up of graywater into our basement, so this could possibly be the reason for the water pooling, but if it wasn't I still wanted to have the main sewer line augered as a prophylatic measure. (we were advised by others to have this done on an annual basis). They were able to schedule someone for 8:00 the next morning. Zach arrived ahead of time the next morning, 7:50 by my clock in the driveway, he came to the door at 7:55, we went down to the basement to assess the situation. He explained with the tree root situation, he would auger the main line first as that may take care of the floor drain pooling, if not then a closer look would be necessary with the floor drain. So he went back out to the truck to get the big machine for the main sewer line. Zach augered the main line, as it turned out it wasn't the cause for the water pooling at the floor drain however I was very happy we did the service as more tree roots had grown into the line - I'm sure it would only be a matter of time before we had water backing up into the basement. Zach then went on to the floor drain, turns out there was a build up - I mean a MASSIVE buildup of hair; the previous owner of the house installed a shower which emptied to that drain (violation of code, we haven't fixed that one yet) and since I'm blessed with a head of thick shoulder length hair, it wasn't a big surprise. Zach suggested snaking the distance from the floor drain to the main line to ensure there were no more clogs, so he took the big auger back out to the truck and returned with the smaller snake. Success, we had a free flowing drain!!! A big plus for Zack - this work can be messy and I was pleased that he cleaned up the major "ickyness". Thank you!!! I was pleased with the whole process and since I need to auger the main line as a routine maintenance, I wouldn't hesitate to call Norblom and Zach again. He answered my questions and was pleasant to work with, the scheduling went well and a fair price. A suggestion I would have for Norblom is to get on the City of Minneapolis registered plumber's list that they hand out to citizens in a pinch. Let me explain, last May was the first time we ever had graywater back up in our basement, since there was utility work going on in the street, I thought that project may have been the cause of my back up so I called the city explaining the situation, they then sent out people to check the city water/sewer lines. Turns out it wasn't their lines - they suggested it was probably something to do with my line and to call a plumbing contractor with a camera to see what was going on, they handed me a list with 2010/11 list of registered plumbing contractors. I wasn't on Angie's list then, so I threw a mental dart picking a bigger company that does a lot of advertising, they cleared my lines and with the camera we could clearly see the tree roots - that part was good, however I paid ALOT of money for that service in addition to being advised we should spend $6,000.00 for a sewer pipe liner which they would of course be willing to do for us, they could even fix us up with a start date right then and there! We declined and after talking with others, instead will do yearly tree root trimming of our line at a much more reasonable price. I can once again enjoy the neighbor's beautiful red maple knowing it isn't costing me thousands of dollars :-))

I had just bought my first place and the commode was giving me problems so I called in to send someone to take a look at it. The gentleman was courteous and helped me understand what the issue was with the commode. Since we were done within 5 mins and he said something about I have him for a min of 30 mins for $79 or so and asked if there was something else he could take a look at. I showed him my faucet in the kitchen because it was making a lot of noise when it was running. He recommended I have to install a new faucet since the one I had very cheap and old. In the bill he wrote that that the commode needs to be replaced and the recommendation for which one to use and also the faucet I could get. But the total amount was $139. I was a little taken aback because I thought for 30 mins it was $79 and I had him check out anything I could get his opinion on for the 30 mins.. He also provided an estimate for $400 to install a new commode if I did decide to. I just feel that I paid too much for the visit and would have paid really high for the installation if I did go ahead with them.
