Norblom Plumbing

I had done this but was unable to get it just right. So far so good.

We are in the midst of updating an old house my daughter purchased lastt summer in Linden Hills. We ahve had several calls for service to Norblom. We always ask for Jim Peterson, one of Norblom's plumbers who has done a lotof work for our family. For this project, Jim came out and gave me guidance of what needed to be done. I folowed his advice, went to Loew's to order an efficient electric water heater, had it delivered and then scheduled Jim and our electrician to make the changeover. Of course, we worried that something would go wrong, leaving the house without hot water during an Arctic freeze in Minneapolis, but nothing did. Once again, Jim's work for our family was perfect. Within an afternoon, all the work was complete, and the supply of hot water restored. Clean-up was excellent. After Jim left, there was no trace that such a big job had been undertaken.

We needed to replace the control valve on our water heater. We purchased the new control valve online from a distributor and called Norblom to install it. It was easy to make the next day appointment. The Norblom guy came on time, called before he came, put on little booties to protect the basement carpeting, recognized that the gas line was not up to code, asked if I wanted that taken care of today, and got the little needed part in his truck to fix that, took out the old control valve, put in the new one, showed me how to adjust the temperature on the control valve, and also showed me how to shut off gas and water to the house - all in 30 minutes. The service charge was then just the $97.00, and the Norblom paperwork breaks out the labor cost versus the cost of the part ($14.37), so the entire cost was transparent and very economical. Fast. Friendly. Competent. Respectful. Transparent and very fair pricing. I've used Norblom before, will again. To contrast Norblom to Snelling Heating and Cooling - who I do NOT recommend - I had forgotten that I had used Norblom before, and called Snelling to come out and diagnose the water heater problem. In the 30 minute visit, the Snelling guy used a little wire brush on two parts of the water heater to see if any corrosion was the problem, and then examined the controller and diagnosed the controller as the problem - that was all fine and competent. But then Snelling charged me not only the visit charge, which I expected, but also a 'maintenance' charge for the wire brush activity, which I presume was part of the diagnosis. I didn't ask for maintenance work. Then Snelling called with the quote to get the new controller and install it - $670. I asked what part of that was the part and what part was the labor, and Snelling replied :We don't usually break that down. It is customary in our industry now to just give you an all-inclusive price". When we called back to say we had found the correct controller, manufactured by the water heater manufacturer,that we could get for only $380, they replied that they wouldn't install a part that they didn't purchase. We found Snelling to be upcharging, not transparent pricing, kinda sleezy! Norblom is transparent, fair, honest.

Mike arrived at 7:40 am for 8 am appointment on a snowy day and went right to work assessing the scope of the problem. Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, Mike explained the parts that were needed and the estimate of time to be completed and went right at it. What would have taken me probably six-seven hours, Mike finished in one! Excellent service and glad I found Norblom on Angie's List.

The plumber used a 50 foot snake to reach deep into the line that goes to the sewer. No problems since.

Fairly new (1 yr old) Hot water heater pilot light would not light. Technician came and of course, it lit at his attempt. He reviewed and tested everything but wasn't able to detect what caused it to go out, nor why it would not light upon our numerous attempts.

All of this work was done at no charge to us as they accepted responsibility for the bad valve. That is service and customer care that is exemplary!

My brother in law installed a new kitchen sink for me but when done there were some leaks that he couldn't fix. Called Norblom plumbing on New Years Eve to setup an appointment. They were very clear about pricing and appointment time. She also reminded me about the coupon on Angie's List. | |Paul showed up right on time and resolved the problem quickly. He explained what he found and corrected the issues. He was very personable and being a first time home owner he was great at answering my questions. I will be calling them again if needed. Very pleased.

They setup the appointment right away. Called ahead. Were there when they said they would be. Quickly cleared the drain. The price was fair. Everything was perfect.

Went very well. I was giving a 2-hour window when someone would show up. Kurt showed up about 30 minutes into that window. He was polite, professional, and quick to get to the job. He figured out what was wrong, gave me a few options, and fixed the problem. I will absolutely call the same vendor in the future.

They were prompt answering phones on this well-below freezing day. They had someone out before the afternoon. they replaced the broken pipe and discussed ways to keep it from freezing again.

The plumber, Andrew was excellent, detailed, friendly, and professional. Andrew was fast, but let me confident that the job was done right! I love the fact that Norblom is a union shop.

I called Norblom Plumbing in the morning and they were able to send somebody out in the afternoon. Plumber Jim came in the time frame provided and was professional and personable. He explained the problem and fixed the issue, making sure to keep me informed of the pricing of the work and materials. I spoke with him about other plumbing questions I had and he answered all of them in a knowledgeable fashion. At first I was taken aback with the pricing, but after looking into other plumbers, realized the cost is similar. I was fully satisfied with the results and would definitely hire Norblom Plumbing again!

Arrived on time for appointment. Made suggestions as to how to fix/replace. Completed work efficiently and showed me how to maintain faucet for winter. Very helpful.

Upon our phone call, they sent someone out to look at our basement (the floor drain was overflowing). Upon arrival and looking around, the employee advised that he only does pipe leaks, not drains or backups AND that the employee who DOES do drains/backups was on vacation so there was nothing they could do for us. He then referred us to another plumbing company AND charged us $90 for the visit!! Wow.

Prior to arrival, we determined which water heater we should get. Norblom covered the steps and basement floor which was greatly appreciated. Heinstalled the water heater and explained to me what I should do and how I should use it. He worked with the limited space and improvised when needed (despite not having a drain in the furnace room, using the toilet to drain the old water heater for example). He carried off the old one and he worked quickly and clearly knew what he was doing.

Cleared our drain and replaced a part that was out of code.

Arrived on time. Quickly diagnosed problem and gave me options to fix the problem: 1. do it myself, 2. have him get parts and do it today (approx $400+parts), or 3. I get parts and he comes back to do the work. (approx $200+parts). I chose to take care of it myself and he walked me through what I would need to do to fix it. He also advised that the faulty part may be covered under the manufacturer's warranty, which it was and saved me approx $100. Once we were done talking about this issue, he offered that he worked by the 1/2 hour and that I had time left if I had any other plumbing questions. I had him look at a few other plumbing issues in the house and he provided recommendations to address those issues also. This company's excellent communication, cost sensitivity, and thoroughness allows me to recommend them to anyone looking for a plumber.

Our toilet is from the 1930's but we love it. A part finally rusted off and we were told to just put in a new one because no one would want to mess with repairing it. I called Norblom's this morning. Paul showed up within the hour and our toilet is back! I was so impressed with the work and how nice Paul was. Norblom's's deserves all the great reviews they have gotten and I wanted to add mine. Thanks Norblom's and thanks Angie!

Once again, Jim was great! He's kind, courteous, professional, always spells out all of my options and ALWAYS cleans up after he's done. In this case, since it's a very old toilet, if he had not been able to replace the flapper, I would've needed a new toilet. But Jim was able to find a flapper that worked and saved me hundreds of dollars!

Jim has been here a lot. He is GREAT. He doesn't laugh at our 100-yr-old house and understands that we aren't interested in big remodels right now. We just wanted to make sure our fixtures weren't leaking or causing other unseen damage. He swapped out all of them and believe me, they all turned into "projects" just because the house is old. But he never shook his head or made any indication how unpleasant it was to work on this stuff even though I know it was. He's cheerful and makes great suggestions/recommendations when I asked questions. Not only is he cheerful and professional, but it's obvious he's a good plumber too. I trust his work completely. I suspect I'm paying more than I could find elsewhere, but it's completely worth it.

Service was excellent. Called on a Monday and got Tuesday appointment between 7:30 and 8:00 am, he arrived at 7:30 exactly. He worked efficiently and carefully, no mess and no wasted time. At my request, surveyed and gave me some advice on the rest of my 90 year old plumbing system, pointed out some areas I should watch, explaining the trouble spots and why. I'll likely call them for the larger re-piping job when I'm ready to do it. Absolutely no complaints, recommend.

The plumber arrived on time, early in fact, and quickly carried out the repairs. He was efficient and very pleasant. I would definitely call this company again.

I was disappointed. Norblom doesn't do free onsite estimates. You call the office, tell them what you need and they give you an approximate price. If you want an onsite quote you have to pay for it. What we needed seemed pretty straight forward so we went ahead and scheduled the work. The technician arrived began work but stopped after removing a few of the limestone blocks in our foundation. He did not have the necessary drill bit to complete the work. He suggested we call a concrete coring company to drill the hole first and charged me almost $200 for the visit. I had another high-rated plumber from Angies list out to the house to quote this and another job. They were able to complete run the line for the hose bib without any issues. There was no need to call in a coring specialist and charged me less than Norblom for this part of the job.
