Norblom Plumbing

The plumber was very friendly, yet professional and explained what he was looking for in order to hook up our dishwasher. Unfortunately, we didn't have an outlet. I was trying to surprise my boyfriend, but found out if I decided to move forward it would cost a bit more than I had expected. If there are any other plumbing needs we should have I will definitely contact Norblom!

It went superbly, Not only that, but Jim cleaned out the areas he worked to BETTER than they were before. And even moved some items so I could access them for cleanup from the leak. He was a joy to work with, keeping me in the loop every step of the way. He saved me money my screwing down a shifting toilet...that was all it needed! I expect to have Jim back for a bathroom project I have in mind down the road.

The quote I was given by Norblom for the installation of my water heater was about 100.00 less than the amount I was charged. Norblom Plumbing did not have the correct pipe fittings with them to complete the installation. There was no excuse for this since I told them the exact model of the water heater that they were installing. The correct pipe fitting had to be delivered twice before it was the right one.

Zach was very thorough in checking the flow of all the drains and following through to the city main to make sure that the pipes were no longer clogged. He also explained what to do to help keep the drains clear. It turned out that the clog must have cleared itself, but Zach still did a lot of work to make sure that they were clear.

Turned out to be a very simple solution to my problem. Apparently the new HE washing machines frequently create a water hammer problem due to their fast-acting solenoids. I thought I would need work done on my actual pipes but Norblom was able to just install a couple of simple "shock absorbers" at the washing machine. Everything was handled very promptly and professionally. I'd happily use them again.

Andrew S. was awesome. He took the time to make sure I understood the calculations and educate me so I was confident the job was done right. He did more than the bare minimum, re-soldering existing pipes and installing a new 45 degree PVC pipe for a vent vs. the old 90 degree ones. The new PVC allowed the heater to work better than the old one, which probably explains the problems we encountered with it. I was very impressed with the thorough job and his professionalism.

Andrew did a great job. He arrived on time, saw what needed to be done and got right to work. He was very efficient and focused. He was very pleasant and professional. I love the fact that I called Norblum on Monday morning and got the work completed on Tuesday! The 10% discount on labor was nice as well.

My hot water heater went out so I called Norblom's based on the reviews on Angie's List. The female who spoke with me on the phone was very courteous and although it initially sounded like they did not have one of their plumbers in my area, they came through and Kurt showed up a half hour later! It was obvious Kurt knew what he was doing. He got right to work, put down tarps, and removed and installed a hot water heater in a couple hours. My wife is happy which makes everyone happy!

Norblom was a great resource during my research on sump pumps. Mike and Amy answered all my questions and were very knowledgeable. When I decided to purchase the unit and have Norblom install it, the ordering process was seamless. However, Norblom did run into problems with their battery supplier. The battery did not arrive in time and the appointment had to be rescheduled. Then on the day of the rescheduled appointment, I got a call from Amy and she thought the battery still had not come in. She was calling to reschedule again, which we did. A few minutes later, Amy called back and said they found the battery and they could still do it that day. So ok, things happen, but they seemed a little disorganized. Later that day, Jim, Norblom?s best sump pump installer, showed up on time at my door. He was very professional, put down protectors on my stairs, covered his shoes, etc. The sump pit was in my crawlspace and not easy to get to. No complaints from Jim. He was very nice and explained everything he was going to do. He did extras like cleaning out debris in my sump pit and tying up all cords. Another person arrived to deliver some parts and stayed quite a while with Jim as he did his work. I could hear their conversation from my office and it seemed that Jim was training him on the installation. That wouldn?t have been a problem but the install should have taken 1.5 hours and instead it took 2 hours. So I ended up paying about $80 more on labor. I don?t think the extra half hour was entirely due to this ?training?. The installation was a little more complicated due to the small size of my sump pit. Despite these few concerns, I can?t say enough about the competency of the installer (Jim) and the quality of the work done. In the end, I am very pleased that I chose Norblom and highly recommend them!

Mike was right on time. He fixed our leaky toilet using the least invasive method. He then moved on to a sink that had been draining very slowly for several months. He quickly found the problem and had both jobs completed in an hour. He was very neat - cleaning up after himself and removing his shoes in the house. This is the second time we've used Norblom and I would definitely use them again.

Glad on how the first service call went (replaced a hot water heater) that I called them again for a leak in an upstairs bathroom. First, my ten year old leaking hot water heater: the cost was higher than most because of the power exhaust. The power exhaust is required due to the house being a sound abatement (MAC) home. I brought Norblom in for a bid, but since they were ready to fix my leaking hot water heater immediately I didn't get another bid and got them working on it right away. I risked my heater bursting. So, I was never able to really compare prices. I had a monster of an old 40 gallon heater that one guy was able to pull out of my basement by himself. The install of the new heater went without a hitch. The power vent and bringing in a much smaller heater required a lot of rerouting of the gas lines and venting. Norblom offered a couple different makes of hot water heaters and I had them choose the best one. It has been two months since the call and everything is working just fine. The leaking bathroom: I bought my house in the late 90's and I moved in with a leaking problem from upstairs bathroom. I ripped out the plaster ceiling twice trying to detect where the leak was coming from. Finally I found the leak was coming from the tub drain. The Norblom guy could have charged me a fortune because my bath's plumbing was all old 1941 stuff. He replaced only the part that needed replacing (the tub drain pipe and connections to the tub). It was not an easy fix working in the ceiling above and from the back of closet where the access panel was located. I would call Norblom again because the workers were honest, did great work and they were even friendly. They got the job done quickly and done right. And I had no problem scheduling an appointment (I booked a week out because I couldn't get off work until then. I really have no complaints with Norblom. I just wish my house had better plumbing to begin with.

Overall, Norblum did a great job. Their guy was nice, professional, knew what he was doing, and cleaned-up afterward. He even answered a few one-off plumbing questions I had (after he had cleared the drain). My one complaint is the cost: $135 for a 25 minute job is pretty steep. I don't doubt that is the "going rate" for this type of service in the Twin Cities, but sheeesh!

I'm giving them an "A" because everything worked out, and the fiasco wasn't their fault. I had a problem with the toilet clogging the past year. I had to call a plumber out 4 times in the past year (this was someone other than Norblom). The plumbers would just tell me no nothing wrong it is just plugged. They would take 5 minutes to unclog it. I got tired of the hassle and expense. I decided to try a new toilet. I called Norblom because I've learned it is better to find a plumber who charges by time and materials, not flat rate. I asked them which toilet is least likely to clog. Mike suggsted the American Standard Champion 4. Kurt installed the toilet. Someone else from Nordblom came up to deliver a part and hauled the old toilet away. When testing it, Kurt found the new toilet was defective. It wouldn't even flush toilet paper. My old toilet was already hauled away so he couldn't put it back in. I have just one bathroom, so I couldn't wait until Monday. Kurt called the office. They would have to order the American Standard Champion 4 or a Kohler model. The only toilet they could immediately transport up was a Gerber Viper. He told me it was an average toilet, so it was less expensive. He said there was nothing unusual about my situation in that my plumbing was good, I had no kids, etc. and he felt I wouldn't have any problems with it. He told me if it clogs, to call the office and they would work something out with me. I said "what if they don't remember?" Kurt joked "I don't think anyone is ever going to forget this." I decided to try it, and Kurt installed it. I've had it close to 3 weeks and it has not clogged. I feel Nordblom did the best they could. It wasn't their fault the toilet was defective. They charged me for just one installation. They did get another toilet up here the same day. Finally, I haven't had any problems. I would use them again for plumbing. They charge by time and materials, which I've learned is better for the customer than the flat rate so many charge by.

Mike came on time. Before cutting into the ceiling to open where the leak was he did a careful investigation. He determined that the leak was coming from the toilet upstairs. He cut into the ceiling where the leak was coming from and it was right below the toilet. Apparently when we had our upstairs bathroom renovated several years ago, the contractor didn't seal the toilet and it had been leaking all those years. Mike sealed the toilet and cut out the area in the ceiling that was damaged. He cleaned up after himself and told me not to fix the ceiling for several weeks to let it dry out. He did a great job and was very nice. I appreciated the fact that he investigated first and didn't just starting tearing apart my kitchen ceiling. I will defintely use this company again and will refer my friends to them. They are great and its nice to have a plumber I can trust.

The flooding occurred late Friday and we were able to turn off the shut-off valve and stop the water outflow. We called another plumber in the area and were quoted a pretty high price to fix it on Monday. Contacted two other plumbers through Angie's List over the weekend. Norblom replied over the weekend and confirmed that they could repair it and put in a new water heater in the early part of the week. Another plumber responded on Monday and said that due to workload, they were booking out two weeks. Spoke with Mike of Norblom who quoted me a competitive price over the phone for the new water heater plus additional costs depending on an on-site inspection. He patiently answered my questions and made cost effective recommendations based upon our situation. Timely, professional service. The whole job with new water heater, new shut-off valve, new up-to current code venting for a gas water heater, draining and removal of the old water heater was about $1300. I believe it was a fair price for very good service. Would definitely recommend to others.

The plumber worked neatly and cleaned up well. He was also able to offer me advice on a small job I did myself. I will definitely call Norblom next time I need a plumber. (Price included labor and toilet parts but not faucet.)

Service was great and got same day appointment. My problems were fixed and explained very thoroughly what was done to fix them and prevent future problems.

The cold water handle in the bathtub faucet broke and there was no handle on the shut-off valve, so we had to turn off water to the house. Called Norblom ? we've used them in the past ? and they were able to come out within 2 hours or less, which saved us a lot of hassle. Mike, the plumber, was very upfront about what needed to be done, the options, and the cost. He got going right away, and finished fairly promptly ? even though it took a little longer than expected because he had to cut through the tub surround and wall ? which, in this old house, is incredibly hard, and enlarge the access panel. He was professional, very good, and friendly. Also, a few months ago, we used Norblom to replace two water heaters in the duplex ? one was starting to leak. Same thing ? they were prompt, professional, friendly and helpful. The city inspector complimented Norblom and said "They always do good work."

Money well-spent and we truly appreciated how quickly they were able to get out to us. With a baby in the house, having sewage in the basement would have become a dangerous health hazard very quickly. They also provided us with maintenance advice to prevent this from happening again, advice on how to safely clean the sink, and as a discount for being an Angie's List member. Quick, professional, recommended.

I'd definitely use them again. The toilet (& the pipe) have worked great since this repair. Kids put things down the toilet, so I couldn't just use a plunger. And, Norblom Plumbing came out almost immediately. I didn't have to wait days for them to show up.

I would definitely hire them again.
