Norblom Plumbing

I've used Norblom in the past for various plumbing issues. They have always been great. This time I had a leaky faucet in my laundry room sink and a leaking outside spigot. They were able to get out to my house fast. The workman showed up on time and had everything fixed in under an hour. The laundry faucet was a little tricky since it was over 40 years old, but he was able to remove it and replace it. He cleaned everything up and I didn't find any loose screws or nuts or any debris around the work area.

Appointment was scheduled with no hassle and the plumber arrived on time. We've used Norblom previously with much success and on very short notice and have been very pleased. We have a new house with a lot of little things that need to be done, and Norblom plumbers are very efficient and helpful. They have done installs for us in the past and repairs that seem big to us, but they get them done quickly and with ease. They are my "go-to" plumber forever!

We had a great experience with Norblom, especially with Jim who came out to do the job. We had a toilet clog in a toilet that had clogged many times before. I called Norblom and left a message on Sunday, and received a call early Monday morning. They helped me select a new toilet and scheduled a visit for Monday. As I requested, Jim called when he was on the way -- and it was right in the time slot I had reserved. Jim was super friendly, helpful, and professional. There had been a miscommunication that led to him having the wrong model toilet when he arrived. He called and had a coworker bring the correct model over to our house while Jim removed the old toilet. I had been give a quote for the wrong toilet, which was less expensive than the one I had requested. Norblom stood by the lower price for the higher-priced model. Jim did an excellent job with install, cleanup, and customer service. I would definitely use Norblom again.

Responded quickly and provided very detailed, helpful advice. Very knowledgeable staff member answering phone. Never hired, but would hire if needed. Unfortunately, in order to get quote to physically see and give me more detailed information as to what might be required and what is possible to pass inspection, especially regarding venting, I was asked to pay a hefty charge for someone to come out. Furthermore, staff advised me that it may be possible to bypass charge by a possible coupon on Angie's List, which doesn't exist. I believe that because of their knowledge and experience I would not hesitate to hire them if that trip charge would not exist. I believe all things are possible, even a tough inspection given inspectors are amiable toward homeowners' requests and there may be possible alternative ways and/or waivers, if only some effort would have taken place to come out to give me options. I was ready to hire, but instead went to another contractor.

Our interaction with Norblom Plumbing was great. Initial contact was through email which was promptly responded to. Follow up by phone was quick and easy. We wanted to see about installing a shower in a second floor bathroom, but keeping the existing claw foot tub. Jim arrived on time for the scheduled appointment and after looking over the bathroom and the amount of space that was available to install the needed equipment, provided excellent information on what it would take to install a shower using the existing claw foot tub. He discussed the pros and cons of moving ahead with our idea and presented alternatives for us to consider. We ended up not moving ahead with the shower plan, because of the expected cost, and that it did not really solve our problem. Jim's advice and comments were great. Now to the fun part. A month or so ago one of our cats knocked a wedding ring off the top of the toilet in a third floor bathroom and (we believed) into the toilet bowl where it disappeared not to be found. Fast forward to our appointment with Jim, during which a question about the missing ring came up. Although we had searched in and around the nooks and crannies of the bathroom there were a few areas we could not reach and maybe he could take a look. So he did, and as he was shining his light behind the toilet he saw sitting on the shutoff valve, the missing wedding ring. The valve and the ring are roughly the same color and for whatever reason, when we checked, we did not see it. So a big thanks to Jim at Norblom Plumbing on Selby in St. Paul. He made great suggestions about what to do in our other bathroom and found the no longer lost wedding ring. Best plumbing service call ever.

Provider arrived right on time. He asked what I wanted done, did it, and asked if there were any questions. He was very upbeat and professional. This is the best drain cleaning experience I have ever had. And the drains have never worked better (after he did the work).

They were fine and very accommodating. We did not shop around for prices.

From a previous plumber, we were told we needed thousands of dollars in repairs. Norblum told us that might be the problem, but suggested we try cheaper solution first. It worked, which saved us a lot of money.

I contacted Norblom through Angie's list and within an hour the plumber arrived to replace my water heater. They were amazing prompt and efficient, and within fours hours of the first contact on the phone I had a new water heater. My old water heater was 22 years old and was wedged in between new sewer pipes and the furnace, but they managed without any issue. I will definitely use them again.

Norblom Plumbing had me take several photographs of the water heater in advance of the tech coming out so there were no surprises. Based on the photos they informed me of a couple of things that they would need to do to bring the installation up to current code. They very quickly helped me to select the best water heater based on capacity, recovery time and cost. I selected Norblom because of their high rating, quickest delivery and lowest cost. The tech arrived on the dot and informed me it would take 1 hour and 10 minutes to remove the old water heater and have the new one fully operational. That's exactly what it took. No surprises on cost. Everything was estimated accurately and expectations set correctly. They answered all my questions cheerfully. They took out a permit in advance of the project and guided me through the easy process to schedule a local city inspector a few weeks after install. I wish all service calls went tike this!

The technician was smooth, personable and fast with nice down-to-earth honesty and charm. The sewer clean-out was fast and effective with relatively new equipment. Then he checked on the toilet and saved me some money by diagnosing the issue as a toilet fixture issue, rather than a drain issue. If I'd paid him to do the drain only to later realized it was the fixture, that would have cost more.

They are small and they will come out in emergency. When we had a gas leak the gas company would not come out and fix it for 4 or 5 days in the winter. I called them and they were willing to test it the next day. They could not test it because the gas company had locked me out. They do gas piping too and they have enough plumbers and I actually had to call them for several emergencies where I had stuff leaking the same day they almost have been able to come out the same day.

I requested Jim Peterson, whom I've worked with before, and he was great. Very efficient, made sure he knew how I wanted things, worked quickly. I'm very happy with his work

They were very efficient and friendly. Explained what they were going to do and why. Also gave helpful suggestions to save money regarding my hot water heater.

Working with Norblom was a very positive experience. I first contacted them for an estimate on a new water heater - two things I liked about this process that set Norblom apart from other places I contacted 1) They don't charge for the estimate - many of their competitors did and 2) They were able to send me a specific list of things to take pictures of. I emailed them the pictures and they were able to provide an accurate estimate via email in return. I really appreciated how this didn't waste time for either of us trying to set up an in-home meeting just for the estimate. I communicated with them completely via email - they were quick to respond and clearly answered questions - plus prices were fair. Very good experience. On install day, Mike came out to meet me. He called 40 minutes ahead of time as requested and showed up right on time. He was friendly and professional and easy to work with. I was impressed right off the bat with how much Mike new about Richfield city code. Before we even got into the house, he pointed out an item I would need to have replaced before the inspector came to pass inspection. He said they could do it if I wanted - but also said it was really easy to do myself and explained how - no sales pitch which is great. The second we walked into the basement, he saw my vent for the first time and immediately knew it was not up to Richfield code. He then spent about 30 minutes talking me through three different options I had to get a new water heater installed in a way that would pass inspection. He knew a lot about each method and was able to clearly explain the pros and cons of each, and provided his opinion on which option was most economical. He charged me $90 for the time spent consulting which I thought was very fair for the quality of information provided. Overall my experience with Norblom was good and I will look to them for help with future projects.

Explained that he couldn't replace the cartridge because it was too old. Replaced settings and springs and it appears to be working. If I need to replace valve, he told me what to buy to save on cost and minimize tile and Sheetrock work. Very friendly and helpful. Will use them again.

Chris was great. Called ahead (as I'd requested) and did a walk-thru with me to understand what I needed done then he got to work. There were a few issues between the galvanized pipes and the old cast iron flange on the basement toilet, but Chris informed me of them and how he was going to work around them. I really appreciated the options he presented to me when it came to the laundry tub. I bought a new one to replace the old - standing on legs like the old one. However Chris pointed out that the drain line was running uphill due to the height of the conneciton to the stack and the shorter height of the bottom of the sink. He said he could fix the stack connection (at least 3 hours of work) or if I found a wall mount sink or a kit to convert the one I had to wall mount that would work to get the sink drain higher and not need to do the stack work. I gave a B on price simply because I was hoping to keep it under a 1,000 - but with a vintage house and multiple projects that may have been naive.

Called at 9:17am and they were at my house and had my problems fixed by 11:00.am Andrew did a great job and I would highly recommend him and the company as a whole. One of the best experiences I've had getting something repaired.

Very professional, quick service and a great service provider (Eric, has been with the company for about 15 years). It was one of the most pleasant home contract experiences I've had. Highly recommend.

As mentioned above, Kirk did a fantastic job! Fixing an ejector pump is a really unpleasant, smelly, dirty job. Many plumbers are quick to say they aren't interested in the work. Norblom Plumbing was completely responsive. Having used other plumbing companies in the past, I will most definitely have Norblom Plumbing doing all of my plumbing work in the future.

When I realized I needed to hire a plumber, I was a bit apprehensive due to some bad experiences in the past (pre-Angie's List). This, however, turned out to be one of those times where everything went smoothly. Norblom has a website where I could get additional info beyond what was listed on their Angie's List page, which I appreciate. Around 9:30 am, I emailed them with details about the job and requested a rough estimate. The response arrived in less than 10 minutes. (That may have just been lucky timing, but it sure was nice! Also note that this was a fairly typical job.) Around 12:30 or so, I called to make an appointment. It just so happened that one of the guys was finishing a project and could come over right away. He was here shortly after 1 pm and replaced my faucet in less time than estimated. (Again, these might not be typical results. I would normally expect to wait for an appointment, and I know that sometimes an job can take longer than estimated due to unforeseen circumstances.) In short, I'm THRILLED to have found this plumbing company, and I definitely recommend them!

We've had slow drains since moving into our house 6 years ago and we finally decided to call someone to fix it. They came out the next day assessed our plumbing situation, made a recommendation and fixed the problem in about two hours. Very polite and took the time to explain their recommendations.

He did a nice cleanup job; total time was under an hour. He was very pleasant and gave tips on how to avoid future clogs.
