OUTSTANDING! Norblom found the comparable water heater (the current was 13 years old!) and then assessed the condition of the softener. They worked around my schedule and the renter's schedule. Couldn't have gone better.
Description of Work: I own several rental properties. I needed to replace a water heater and assess the condition of the water softener in the rental property. I didn't have time to source the new heater or if needed, water softener. I needed a one-stop shop to get it done prior to selling.

I selected Kohler toilet model and called Norblom. They were able to obtain the toilet and install the next day. They also replaced the shut-off valve which had begun to leak. I used the Angie's List coupon for installation, and for a reduced price on the model I wanted.

What I apprecaited is that despite expecting to have to replace 1 or both, he took a look and determined one wasn't actually leaking and the other simply needed a packing nut tightened. What could've been a $300+ charge ended up being a 1-hour trip charge.

The plumber came out on time but seemed to take a very long time to do the work. The cost was more than estimated but I didn't make an issue out of it. The real problem came later. I had to move the stove out from the wall to allow another contractor to plumb a water line. When I looked at the gas line, discovered Norblom hadn't used flexible tubing to get from the wall to the stove. As a result, the copper tubing was crimped in two places. One was coming out of the stove which poor workmanship and the other, much worse, crimp was mid-way between the wall and stove. This at almost a 90 degree angle and must have been there since the stove was put back in place after gas line was installed. It looked unsafe so I had the contractor replace it with flexible tubing. This they did very quickly. When I asked them about the original work they just shook their head. Me too.
Description of Work: Added a gas line for a new stove.

Description of Work: Replace hot water heater. We bought the Angie's List deal for $999, and it cost about $200 extra for the permit and some additional installation charges (replacing a valve and some ventilation).

Norblum did a great job, from handling my phone call to connecting the plumber to my home and executing the work to be done! I accidentally put a gouge in my gas meter with my electric hedger (dumb and very scary!) when I was chopping down tall weeds. After the fire dept and gas company were out to close the gas valve and shut off the gas, respectively, I hopped on Angie's list and searched A-rating plumbers. Norblom, a family owned business, was among the group, and sounded familiar. I realized my gas company used them to install my gas water heater just 4 years ago. If Norblom is trusted by my gas company, then that's who I want. What also made me feel comfortable is Amy, the receptionist, let me know the potential charges ahead of time - the trip charge, which is applied to the first 30 minutes of work, and then, for my job, the charge for every 15 minutes thereafter. They were booked out 3 days, so I asked to be put on a waiting list. Amy called me the next day to let me know of a cancellation and that the plumber could arrive in the next 30 minutes! Kris (Kristopher), the plumber, assessed the problem and got right to work. He cut off the bad portion of the feed line, added a new flare fitting and nut, together with a galvanized coupling (to make up for the shorter line) and reconnected it to the gas meter. Voila! Kris was done in just about 30 minutes so I was only charged for the base trip charge, plus $17 materials. Quick and easy and not very expensive! Kris was very professional and courteous, as was Amy. Norblum is now on my cell phone under P for Plumber. I will not forget them and will call them for any future needs. Thank you, Norblom!

The provider was very responsive with all my questions over email. They were flexible as I bought the basin and did the removal of the old basin on my own. So they were willing to work around my preferences. The time from inquiry until project completion was about a week. This process could not have gone more smoothly.

This was the second plumber I had called to do this job. The plumber from the first company (not Norblom) just tried to sell me a bunch of stuff. He didn't attempt the job. Then the Norblom guy comes and fixes the leak in a half hour by changing a screw and a washer. I haven't had a problem since. I should always call Norblom first. They are one of the best plumbing services around.

The service person was very skilled and professional. Quickly evaluated the situation and determined what was needed, off which he had in the service truck. With precession modification to the faucet length which is needed for each individual scenario the installation was performed in less than 40 minutes. The service person was very organized and performed the task like conducting an orchestra.. awesome!
Description of Work: Bloomington, MN Installed outside faucet that ends inside the house. It is called a sillcock valve. It is about 14 inches in length where the actual shut off valve is positioned inside the house. This shuts the water off inside of the house for the pipe and therefore prevents any possibility of water freezing in the pipe that terminates outside of the house...no water in the pipe to freeze.

I had someone come out for an estimate. I was debating switching to gas from electric for energy efficiency. After discussing the logistics of switching to gas, I opted not to switch. The estimate went very well, Mike was very friendly and helpful. I had previously looked into getting a water heater through Centerpoint Home Service Plus, but with the limited options of water heaters, I decided not to. I then started researching options on my own. I was looking into Heat Pump water heaters, which I did discuss with another plumbing company as well, but the service man did not seem too knowledgeable, and kept having to refer to his iPad. I emailed the manager, Mike Larson regarding heat pump options. After several weeks of emailing, and pictures sent, he said it appeared I did not need an electrician and I had to call the office to schedule an appointment. It would be great if I could schedule via email. Mike came out again after I decided on the GE Geospring Hybrid 50 gallon water heater. He started draining my old water heater (which was taking a lot of work, as there was a lot of sediment). He then determined that I would need an electrician to hook up this water heater. I was a bit frazzled, as I was not expecting this, but he asked if I wanted to hook the old water heater back up and reschedule the appointment. I said I did, as I did not see any other option if I wanted to have hot water. I immediately started looking up electricians, as I did not want to drag this out any longer. I was able to secure an electrician that day, but at that point Mike had already hooked up my old water heater and refilled (maybe 15 minutes). I told him I was able to get an electrician out and I wanted the new water heater installed, and he was not happy. I am grateful that he did end up hooking up the new water heater (partially drained old water and told me he could not remove it as planned, so left it in my basement). I had discussed with him wanting to move the location of the water heater, as I did not like that the main sewer line was blocked by the location of the water heater, and I couldn't see what else was behind it. I spoke to him about this before I knew I needed an electrician, and he said I'd definitely would need an electrician if I wanted to move the water heater (4 ft). I told him nevermind at that point. Mike left after he installed the water heater in the old location. Immediately after, I realized I did not want the water heater in that location, and since I had to have an electrician out anyway, I might as well move the water heater. I called Norbloom within the hour (did not expect him to come back out that day), and told them I wanted him to come back. I hadn't gotten an estimate to move the water heater, so the person on the phone said she'd have to talk to the plumber to get an estimate, but I got the appointment scheduled. Mike contacted me, and said it'd be $400-$500 to move it, and I said that was fine, he said lets just say $450. I guess I assumed it would be an actual cost once he actually did the work, but I was charged $450. Mike came back out the following week to move the water heater, and did not seem pleased. Everything went well, the water heater was moved, he had me come to look at it after, and I told him it seemed like it would be difficult to get to the dryer vent, and he said I'd probably have to move it (the dryer/vent). The work was done very well, the plumber was very knowledgeable, I just wish there was a bit more communication/clarification throughout the process. I could have been more clear as well, but maybe asking clarifying questions throughout the process rather than just when it was already done. Communication is my only minor complaint.
Description of Work: Corresponded with me regarding water heater choices, installed customer-supplied water heater, moved location of water heater (moved/bent pipes).

Our house is an 80 year old cape cod. This bathroom was added by the DIY-er former owner in the 70s and the fixtures and plumbing job is confounding. Andrew gave me a ball-park estimate to repair vs replace, and recommended replacing the existing two handle faucet to save money and time. He opened the wall outside the bathroom to evaluate the situation and then recommended a specific brand of faucet that would work better with our situation (space limitations -- very shallow wall) he also explained the "worst case scenario" issues that might result (the new plumbing could, and does, stand proud of the wall) and recommended a couple of ways that we could repair the wall in the future. Because he did not have the faucet brand he recommended with him on his truck, he sent me to the store with a detailed list -- the brand and description of the faucet, and a cover plate and alternate, and gave me his mobile number to phone him if I had any questions. While I ran for the hardware, Andrew got to work on the replacement. He was nearly ready to install the hardware upon my return 30 minutes later. Andrew worked quickly and neatly and is a very clear communicator. I am happy with his work. Norblom was upfront and clear with their labor pricing when I made the initial call, so there was no surprises with the bill. I was able to save money on the fixture with the option to run to the store and purchase it myself (I also got to pick a handle and head design that I like very much). All-in-all, this was a very positive outcome for an unplanned plumbing issue.
Description of Work: We called Norblom on a Friday to help us diagnose and repair a leaky shower head in our 2nd floor bathroom. We made an appointment for a 2-4 p.m. window the following Tuesday. Andrew phoned the day of the appointment and was able to come early. He replaced the existing two handle faucet with a one handle faucet and installed hot and cold line shutoff valves.
