It maybe took him a little longer than he expected based on the door configuration but he charged my only what Lowes was gong to charge ($95) which i appreciated. He also walked through my house afterwards and advised me on some areas I requested help on at a later time. He was very courteous and professional. I will not hesitate to call him for future jobs i have lined up.
Description of Work: I needed a storm door installed and called Stephen on short notice. He informed me he was in the area and would swing by even though it was a Sunday!

The member was told to flash his windows to stop rain leaks, but the inside water stains did not line up with the window exterior, so I told the member that the flashing expense may not work and would be a waste of money. He agreed to getting a water hose and spraying the windows from the base up to see where the leaks started. Then he could decide what to do based on the actual facts. We also discussed the electrical wiring practices where electrical contractors will stab the wires into the back of a receptacle for joining wires rather than pigtail the wires for a pressure connection. Stab-lok receptacles work for about 5 years, then the load surges accumulate micro-arcings, causing intermittent service through the receptacle. This causes unexplainable power outages in a room where everywhere else the power is still on. Correcting the wiring solves these fast-built-home electrical problems.
Everything went great. His pricing is very reaonable. I have recommend him to my friedns.

A house is not a home when little things don't work---electrical dimmers, sink pop-ups, light switches, doorbells, cracks in the front stoop, garage door glass. The member does need heater cables in the gutters and downspouts to stop regular ice dams in winter, though. Pleasant to work for. I will be returning after her insurance inspection.
I have used him for three years now. He is very knowledgeable in many areas and is also very kind. He always finishes the job.
Description of Work: He has dug up huge shrubs in the yard and helped me with other yard work. He has helped me with plumbing issues and interior painting. He has also helped re wire lamps in my bathroom.

The one item this member especially needed was a walkway over her grass yard when the snow was 3' deep to deliver a washer,. I have such a snow blower that could do it, and did. I also cleared a walkway to the street, as her driveway was 4' deep, and she didn't use a car.

The member just recently called me, and said her garage floor is now so well sealed she has to mop up the melt water from her car, whereas before it just soaked into the concrete, causing damage. But she said she didn't mind, as this protects against a total slab replacement!

I contacted Stephan Granger about this job, we made an appointment he came over, figured out the incidentals, went to get the parts needed, and worked on the installation until completed about 31/2/hrs. He gave me the parts bills that he paid for and together with his time spent it cost the above. He did a clean professional job. He knows his stuff.

The microwave exhaust exited through a common roof vent, with no duct sealer, as is found on dryer vents. Cold northern air blew right into the vent, exiting into the kitchen. Using carpet runner protective plastic, I formed flaps on the outside of the vent that would open when the microwave was on, but would press closed against the vent when the wind blew. It was too cold to refit the vent---shingles would have been damaged in the common townhome property. Glad to hear it works.

A well-centered member. Pleasant to work for. I would work for her again.
We enjoyed working with Stephen. He is patient and offers sensible advice. He completed several small jobs over the course of a couple of days, each as well (or better!) as I wanted them done - we like things to have a high level of finish. He cleaned up nicely after each job, so much that we could barely tell he had done anything. Stephen always brings his own tools -- you'd think that you wouldn't have to point that out, but not everyone is as well prepared. He works efficiently and is kind to the children as well as the client. We are highly satisfied and will engage his help with other projects in the future.
Description of Work: Odd jobs I hadn't had time to finish -- changing out light fixture, replacing molding on garage door, repairing an ugly wiring job, fixing a screen door, re-grouting tile. Most of these are within my skill set but since we had a second kid there just isn't time to get to it all.

The member is competent, he does have the tools, but I can see his point where time is simply not available to focus on a job to completion, especially when an appraisal is coming up to lower their monthly mortgage. So I came back to finish some items before that event occurred. I would definitely work for the member again. Strong kids!

Stephen worked independently, and was very helpful and pleasant. I really appreciated the extra input and advice he gave me on things he eventually didn't even work on. I would use his services again.
Description of Work: I was about to put my house on the market, and had a long list of things that needed to be fixed (leaking toilet, constantly running toilet, re-caulking around cement front steps, cleaning bathroom fan, touching up interior painting, fixing garage door, inspecting for a possible water pipe leakage, etc...). Stephen gave me his frank advice about things I could easily (and more cheaply) do myself, and did an excellent job with the things I couldn't do. One job, fixing the garage door, turned out to be more than he could do, and although he spent some time on it, let me know he was unsuccessful, and did not want to charge any of the time (I called a garage door company to take care if it subsequently). Overall, he saved me a lot of time and headache by taking care of so many different things.

The member appeared to be a single homeowner, and I didn't want her to be taken advantage of, so I presented some opinions on saving money, as realtors often ask sellers to do stupid, expensive repairs, such as painting walls replacing light fixtures, replacing carpets, etc. The new buyer wants to put his signature on the property, and those areas are his to decorate, not the seller. We also talked about protection from electro-magnetic radiation, that I do. I would work for the member again gladly.

The member thought she needed a complete rebuild of her street-side mailbox---she didn't. The lid had gotten damaged, requiring a box replacement; that's all. The member has owned this Powers Ridge condo for six years, being one of the first to move in. The toilet tank flapper is a vertical design, that had begun to wear its seal, causing it to sit lower on the seat than originally. This caused sticking, making it hard to use the release handle. The sink stopper was catching on the basin throat, preventing the stopper from dropping smoothly. The lift rod was also loose and not positioned properly for raising and lowering the stopper. The member was correct in her complaints and easily understood what she wanted done. I would go there again.

I did above. We had him do some work and were also interviewing for future handyman jobs. The main reason we will not hire him in the future is his lack of insurance.
Description of Work: We asked Stephen to replace the flushing works in an old toilet for an old house we had just purchased. We had bought the appropriate flushing kit. The toilet was not flushing properly and we did not know how old the flushing parts were. He only replaced part of the flushing works and said the rest would last in the box. Since we did not know how long the old parts had been there, we wanted all the parts replaced since it was a kit. We found this disappointing.

The toilet in question needed a flapper, and the float valve needed adjustment to reduce water waste. The fluidmaster valve itself was functioning correctly, and will probably last another 5 years. The customer purchased a flexible toilet supply tube to install, but it had a 1/2" gland nut instead of a 3/8". The existing chrome toilet supply tube had no corrosion, and will also probably last another 5 years. The upstairs toilet had several problems, being over 25 years old a huge water waster, and not worth repairing. I recommended a 1.6 liter flush replacement for $55 from Home Depot. Honestly, the customer was not as insistent as she reports on their requested repairs, or I would have spent their money accordingly. I prefer to do an accurate and economic repair service---"if it's not broke, don't fix it".

I was expecting a much larger problem. While he was there, I also needed help putting in my screens for the warm weather and he helped me do that.
