 + -1 moreThe repairman showed up on time. He was polite, easy to talk to. He went straight to work and professionally fixed the problem duct work. He clearly explained what he did and how it would never be a problem in the future. He insured it was fixed correctly and permanently. In short he was very professional. I would absolutely use this vendor again.
Description of Work: The vent duct work for down draft kitchen stove became disconnected causing fumes and heat to vent into the basement. The duct work was fixed with 3 screws, metal tape and supports for the duct work. The existing work had only one screw ( which failed) grey duct tape (which also failed due to the heat) and no support for the duct work.

The crew worked so well in a tight, very small laundryroom space with the washer, laundry tub and dryer in their way. The accumulated dust trapped above the old unit that had never been moved in 30 years was unbelievable. They worked in these terrible conditions and did a great job. The cleanup they did was much appreciated especially since it was all our dust. Their confidence in doing this job and the quality of the work and the new unit is so apparent to us we must recommend them to others. We can now feel great that we will have fresh air provided in our super insulated home, which we were unsure of the last few years! Very grateful that we called St. Marie Sheet Metal!

It was a huge relief, especially being out of town. It was such relief to have Angie's List available. Everything was seemless for me. It was taken care of quickly. I would recommend them to anybody.

 + -1 moreWe had an estimate last summer to replace our air conditioner. We use St. Marie Sheet Metal because they were the subcontractor that installed our new furnace about 15 years ago. We've always had good service from them when the furnace needed cleaning, checking or repairs, and they're a small, family-owned, local company, which we appreciate. We decided to wait until this year to replace the AC, and scheduled the work for late spring before things started to heat up (yes, just after the snow). Everything went fine, as expected. The price was exactly as quoted, and they also cleaned our dryer vent and came back a few weeks later, after the weather warmed up, to test the unit. We've always had prompt, friendly service from St. Marie and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and use them again. It's our opinion that the actual furnace or AC you buy isn't as important as the service behind it.
Description of Work: Provided and installed a new (replacement) air conditioning unit.

Description of Work: Paul hooked up register under sink in kitchen of a recently purchased home, created a damper on the furnace for better climate control and created new sheet metal sleeves for duct work in living room. The existing sheet metal ducts had separated. We have used St Marie Sheet Metal for approximately 30 years to take care of our furnace needs and they always come up with lasting solutions for efficiency.

 + -1 moreOur furnace was 20 years old and needed replacing. I contacted several companies for estimates. St Marie was the lowest bid and came in about 10% less than the next lowest bid. The company owner came out to my house in the evening to plan the job. Together we determined the best route for the exhaust piping. The installation was done promptly thereafter. The job was completed in one day. Clean-up was good. Quality of workmanship was excellent. There have been no problems with furnace performance. I would use them again for a similar job.
Description of Work: They replaced our furnace with a new 95% efficiency unit. This required installation of new PVC exhaust pipes. We had to plan an appropriate pathway for the pipes. They had to cut through an exterior wall to install them. Our furnace was 20 years old and needed replacing. I contacted several companies for estimates.  + -1 moreVery well. My call to St Marie took place during a terrible hot spell. He checked in with me to be sure I had some cooling and then asked me if he could address some other people's needs first even though they contacted him after I did, since they had no cooling. I said yes. He took the time to triage his calls! Also, when his tech worked on my AC he found that the original installation had been faulty and I could see he really worked hard to remedy the faults and called in another tech for advice. I felt these guys were committed to doing the job right. I offered to pay more than the original bid and St. Marie and I worked something out that we both were content with. I really trust them to do only the work that is necessary and to do it well.
Description of Work: This guy was great! A true expert and professional. I have a central air conditioner over 20 years old that I thought needed replacing because it didn't seem to cool adequately. All but one other of the 5 contractors I met with said they'd put in a new AC. Only St. Marie and one other contractor said I had a problem plenum that needed rebuilding. The other contractor also went along with my request for a new AC. St Marie's said the AC was fine - the problem really was the plenum - that when the system converted from oil to gas, the plenum which was designed for the oil system, was not rebuilt. The result was a greatly restricted air flow. St. Marie also told me what I really needed was a plenum rebuild and that I didn't need a new AC - just some freon. So, I have a cooler house, my furnace should heat better and last longer, my utility bills will be lower, and I didn't spend $3000 on a new AC that wouldn't have solved the problem. Can't beat that!

 + 0 morePerfect. Love these guys. Had them do one of my properties last year and I keep coming back to them to work on any new remodeling project I dream up. They are friendly, honest, happy to deal with all my wacko requests (like a fan in the laundry room). I always get several bids and these guys consistently come in on target or slightly better than the competition and they do a great job with complex projects. These guys aren't like other contractors who whine and moan about where you want stuff, they just make it happen!
Description of Work: Installed high efficiency furnace, new air conditioner, removed an in ground gas grill, ran gas line to new location in laundry room, installed a vent fan in laundry.

 + -1 moreDuring a kitchen remodel, we knocked out several walls eliminating heating chases and cold air return vents. I panicked when I realized what I had done...it meant none of the upstairs bedrooms would get heat, let alone the kitchen! To get heat and cold air returns back into each of our revamped locations we were counting on St. Marie to do a miracle...and they did. They made the most difficult ductwork seem like a breeze, running them through our last remaining walls and under toe kicks of cabinets. It was an engineering marvel! 3 heats 3 returns. We will use them every time we have a remodel project.

 + -1 moreHad used them to solve a humidity problem I had throughout the house. They gave suggestions and made no commitments. I went with their suggestion and last winter I did not have one bit of water/ice build up on my windows. Furnace needed replacing in my 2nd home. I used them. They did an excellent job. My first home has a furnace that is old and giving me problems. I have a quote to replace everything here and will be using them for this job also. They make no guarantees but have been very informative and the owner has been great to work with. Learned of St. Marie Sheet Metal through a couple of friends of mine.
Description of Work: Installed new furnace and air conditioning unit. Installed new lower supply plenum and duct connector. Installed new lower return with filter access. Installed basement return air duct. Reconnected the gas, electric and venting to the water heater. Removed and disposed of the old equipment and materials.

When they put the unit in, everyone else was much more expensive. The unit works fabulously. They do a lot of custom work. They are really a down home kind of business. They are very personable.

 + -1 moreGreat. Paul was very helpful and inspected our ductwork for areas where we might improve things. He spent time explaining what would be worth fixing, and what wouldn't. The person that came back to do the work was friendly, conscientious about cleaning up, and got everything done quickly.
Description of Work: Paul came out and gave us an estimate to clean the air conditioner condenser, check the freon, replace the whole house humidifier control and pad, repair a gap in our ductwork, install baseboard registers and a new register for the supply plenum.
